How to Participate in the 2020 MALympic (Challenge) Games

This year, there are 125 possible challenge items, divided into 5 sections. Depending on the difficulty you choose, you will complete up to 70 total items (Diamond). Each difficulty level will require you to choose a different number of items from each section.

Introduction

This challenge follows a section-upgrading system.
　　— Everyone must begin the challenge as a Bronze Medalist.
　　— Once you have completed 20 of the Bronze Medalist items, you can move to Silver Medalist.
　　— Once you have completed 20 of the Silver Medalist items, you can move to Gold Medalist.
　　— And so on...
This means you can only watch anime for one section at a time.
　　— If the last anime you completed on your form for Bronze Medalist has a finish date of January 31st, then all Silver Medalist items on your form must have start dates of January 31st or later.
　　— This means you cannot begin watching anime for Silver Medalist on January 30th or earlier.
There are two exceptions to this rule:
　　— Anime with 50 episodes or more that have an episode duration of 15 or more minutes can be started/finished at any time during the challenge period.
　　— Diamond Medalist bonus items can be started/finished at any time during the challenge period; however, remember that you must complete Platinum Medalist before you can turn in your form as Diamond Medalist.
You will only turn in your form for inspection once.
　　— If you would like to continue to Silver Medalist after finishing Bronze Medalist, paste the Silver Medalist challenge items into your post without submitting the turn in form.
This also means that if you give up on an upgraded section part-way through (e.g. Gold Medalist), then you can still turn in your form for the section below (e.g. Silver Medalist).
Remember that each section has more items than required, so you can modify them at any time while completing it.
　　— Remember to remove any unused or additional items not required by your difficulty. Either delete them or move them to a separate spoiler.

Signing Up

Go to the Bronze Medalist Sign Up Code post and copy the provided code in its entirety. Then paste it as a new reply to this thread.
　　— The codes for each section will be in different posts, one after the other.
Before posting the code as a new reply to this thread, fill in your information (text with all capital letters and underscores). Check the specifics under the "Completing Challenge Items" section.
Keep in mind to refresh your page after posting, as your post number will be different when you post compared to your actual number. Your initial post number is the number in the top right corner of your post. Please double check if this number is correct (someone may post between when you post your form and when you refresh).
　　— If some time after posting that number changes, please don't update it. That will only mean that someone deleted their post before yours.
The "Challenge Start Date" is the earliest starting date of any anime used on your form for the challenge regardless of when you post your sign up form. Don't count the original date of the "on-hold/dropped" item.
Please keep the provided format for the item list, including the font size. You may edit the colors to your liking.
If you have items that require extra information, please display that information in square brackets on a new line separated from the item + anime's title.
If you have signed up and then later decide that you don't want to or cannot participate, please do not delete your post. See the "Withdrawing from the Challenge" section for instructions.

Extra Titles: "Master of..." (optional) and Torch-Bearer

You can attempt to add an extra title to your difficulty level by following a restriction while completing your challenge. You can only try one restriction per theme provided. The restrictions you can try are:

　　— Genre restrictions: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Historical, Kids, Magic, Mecha, Music, Romance, School, Sci-Fi, Shounen,
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　Slice of Life, Sports (*), or Supernatural.

　　— Types restrictions: TV, ONA, OVA, Special, or Movie.
　　　　— Items that specify a different type than your desired restriction are exceptions. They must be completed as stated.

　　— Seasonal restrictions: using only anime that started airing in said season, of any year.
　　　　— Winter: January, February, March
　　　　— Spring: April, May, June
　　　　— Summer: July, August, September
　　　　— Fall: October, November, December

　　— Rating restrictions: G, PG, PG-13, R, R+.
　　　　— Items that specify a different rating than your desired restriction are exceptions. They must be completed as stated.

　　— Duration restrictions:
　　　　— Sprint: duration per episode is 15 minutes or less.
　　　　— Marathon: duration per episode is 20 minutes or more.
　　　　　• Most of the items that specify a different duration than your desired restriction must be completed with your desired restriction.
　　　　　　○ Example, you are doing the item to watch an anime with 16 minutes per episode and less than 5 favorites. If you decide on:
　　　　　　　◘ "Sprint", your anime would need to have less than 5 favorites and 15 minutes or less per episode.
　　　　　　　◘ "Marathon", your anime would need to have less than 5 favorites and 20 minutes or more per episode.

　　　　　　— EXCEPTIONS of items that you can't change the stated time:
　　　　　　　— Bronze item 02
　　　　　　　— Silver items 02, 03 (S.10 for Sprint will still need over 6 minutes)
　　　　　　　— Gold items 01, 02, 03, 11, 26 (G.13 for Sprint will still need over 6 minutes)
　　　　　　　— Platinum items 01, 02 (P.12 for Sprint will still need over 6 minutes)
　　　　　　　— Diamond items 01, 02, 07 (D.09 for Sprint will still need over 6 minutes)

　　— Miscellaneous restriction:
　　　　— Neat Freak: All challenge items are completed in the same order as the challenge item numbers.
　　　　　• This means that you must finish the earlier item before you start watching the next one.
　　　　　　○ For example, B.03 watched January 3-January 6, B.04 watched January 8-January 11.
　　　　　　○ Next anime can be started on the same day as you finish the previous one (finishing B.03 on January 3 and starting B.04 on January 3)
　　　　　• B.01 is to be completed first (if you are choosing that item), then B.02, B.03, etc.
　　　　　• You can skip items you won't do, as long as those used are still completed in listed order: for example B.01, B.04, B.05, B.07, B.10, etc.
　　　　　• You can still start Diamond whenever you wish, but the items must still be completed in order.

　　　　— Note: If a participant attempting the Neat Freak restriction has an invalid anime that cannot be replaced with an anime that fits the time
　　　　　 frames previously laid out, they will lose the title.
　　　　　　○ For example, B.01 watched Jan 01 - Jan 03, B.02 watched Jan 04 - Jan 05, B.05 watched Jan 06 - Jan 15
　　　　　　○ If B.02 is invalid, it must be replaced with an anime started on/after Jan 03 and completed on/before Jan 06. The anime can only be
　　　　　　 moved to a previously unused item if it fits in B.03 or B.04
　　　　　　○ If the invalid is replaced with an anime that does not fit the criteria for Neat Freak title, the participant will still be able to complete their
　　　　　　 corrections successfully - they will just not keep the extra title

　　— Mixed restrictions: You can try to combine as many as you can, but can only use one from each theme provided.
　　　　— State each individual restriction on both forms if you go with a mixed one.
This means that each anime must fit both the challenge item criteria and the restriction you chose for your entire challenge list. The same restriction must be applied to all the attempted sections.
If you decide to go for a restriction, this should be added to both the Sign-Up and Turn-In forms. Don't include "Master of...".

Note:
　　— Genres restrictions are selected based on how much anime there are in the MAL database for said genre, (*) except the sports genre due to this year's theme.
　　— Some of these restrictions haven't been tested.
　　— If you are unable to complete one due to not finding any anime available, let us know to add the note here for your tried difficulty and restriction.
You can do any personal restriction you can think of, but they won't be verified nor counted for the extra title.
If you decide to complete ALL items as part of your personal restriction, please only add the required number of items into your main form and put the remaining items in a separate spoiler at the bottom so that it is easier for us to inspect.
Final title would be: [rating]-rated [duration], [miscellaneous] master of [genre] [type] during [seasonal].
　　— For example: G-rated Sprint, Neat Freak master of Kids Movies during Winter.
Torch-Bearer title will be granted to those that achieve a perfect inspection. Perfect as in nothing asked to fix.
　　— You will have the option of choosing whether or not to go for the Torch-Bearer title upon turning in. If you decide not to go for Torch-Bearer, errors such as anime title changes, challenge list format, typos, punctuation errors, etc. will not be inspected; your inspection will only comprise of errors regarding challenge item validity and dates.

　　— Note that due to MAL's recent behavior regarding title changes across all anime entries, there will be a certain lenience towards anime title errors in Torch-Bearer inspections. That is, if we are currently aware of said change and know it was made after you completed your whole challenge. If said change happened before you finished all sections, or we can't confirm it, you will lose this extra title due to that.

Completing Challenge Items

Turning In

Remember that only your first completed and inspected attempt will be added to the list of participants who completed the challenge. You should only turn your challenge in once you achieve the highest difficulty you desire or can with this challenge.
Once all your items are completed, verify that all information in your sign-up form is filled in.
　　— Remove any unused or additional item not required by your difficulty. Either delete them or move them to a separate spoiler.

Note that we are constantly trying to make the inspection process a faster one. It will help greatly if you keep the provided format for the item's list (challenge list). If you have items that require extra information, please display that information in a new line separated from the item + anime's title.
You can decide if you want your challenge inspected or not and if you want to try for Torch-Bearer. In the same manner you can decide if, after your inspection, you wish to fix the errors or not.
　　— The inspection will consist of checking that all anime are valid for the items they're used for, that all required information is stated, that the dates are valid, and other miscellaneous tasks.

Bronze Medalist Challenge List with Explanations

Anime = animated work; any type unless otherwise specified
Screenshots are suggested as evidence for some items which require information that could change by the time you turn-in. There are items in which they will be required since the information will change after you complete them.
Any screenshot taken should include your username and status for the anime (if it's about an anime entry).
Items that rely on information provided by Anime+ might not be feasible for some users, just replace them with others from the same section.
Remember that you can only work on one section at a time.
Carefully read each item's additional information provided, as some of them need a bit extra than what is stated with the item.
Keep in mind that all items related to score will use the score displayed in the entry's page, not those you see while searching (if 0.00).

1st Section: Bronze Medalist — 28 total items | 20 required

Types

Watch an ONA
Watch an anime with 10 or more episodes that are each 15 minutes or less — you can use this club for ideas
Watch an award winning anime — you must use something listed in that club

Creators
Watch a listed noitaminA or YATP series — you must use something on one of the lists; state which list was used
Watch a Korean or Chinese anime — you must use something listed in one of those clubs; specify the club/country
Watch an anime by a studio with 5 to 30 anime in MAL's database — state the studio used; must be listed as a studio for the anime used
Watch an anime in which one of your favorite people participated — the person must be added as a favorite on your profile; state the person and their character/role; it can be a band, voice actor/actress, director, etc.; anyone with a person entry on MAL

Dates
Watch an anime that began airing the same year you joined MAL — just the year; can be any month/date
Watch an anime that began airing between 2016 and 2019 — the anime can begin airing in any of the following years: 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019

Adaptations
For the following three (3) items, the lists are suggested and not verified. The information must be specified in the source field (check the image in spoiler to know where to look)
Watch an anime adapted from a Visual Novel or Light Novel
Watch an anime adapted from a 4-koma Manga, Web Manga or Digital Manga
Watch an Original anime

Stats (screenshots suggested - include your username in the screenshot)
Watch an anime with a score of 8.00 or above and an episode duration of 16 minutes or more — state the score it had when you finished
Watch an anime with a popularity lower than #700 and a total duration of 16 minutes or more — state the popularity it had when you finished; placed in popularity as #701, #702, #703 and so on

Tags, Themes & Demographics
Watch an anime with a total duration of 16 minutes or more that's rated PG-13 — (Teens 13 or Older) information should be displayed on the entry
Watch an anime with a total duration of 16 minutes or more that's tagged as Ecchi and/or Harem
Watch an anime with a total duration of 16 minutes or more that's tagged as Mystery, Psychological and/or Thriller

For the following two (2) items, state the themed list used and make sure the anime is listed
Watch a listed Superhero or Iyashikei themed anime
Watch a listed Gourmet or Isekai themed anime

Challenge & MAL related
Watch a completed anime scored 10 or 9 by a participant that posted on the first or second page — state their username and initial post number; link to their post; the user must have finished watching their anime before you started watching it
Watch an anime Featured in an article from 2019 onward — link the article used; the anime must have the "Featured" tab
Watch an anime with no Japanese words or phrases in the title — has to be the main title used here on MAL; alternative titles don't count; excludes titles that use a character's name; for example: Blue Seed (counts), Domestic na Kanojo (doesn't count), Goblin Slayer (doesn't count)
Watch an anime that has a one-word title — just one word; cannot be a symbol, single letter, or number (unless number is written as a word); titles with punctuation separating words are not allowed (like Steins;Gate and K-On!)
Watch an anime from one of the MAL AWC Staff Collections — list the collection that was used
Watch an anime that finished airing with 11 or more episodes and has a synopsis by MAL Rewrite
Watch any anime recommended to one of your Favorite Anime — state your favorite anime; it must be listed on your profile; if your favorites change, change this item accordingly

Character Based
Watch an anime with a main character that is a professional in their field — state the character and profession; they must get paid for their services - like a chef, detective, artist and so on. If unsure, ask in the discussion thread or our discord server

Miscellaneous
Watch an anime generated randomly using spin.moe — screenshot is required. This screenshot won't have your username available due to how the site works; it must be generated following the directions below

The code will contain all items needed for your section. Remove the extras and unused items.
After posting, you should refresh the page to get your "Initial Post Number".
Remember that you can't work on all sections at the same time, to be able to start from the Silver section onward, you need to complete all previous sections.

Watch an anime with 6 or more words in the title — excludes symbols, numbers and single letters in the title (they don't add to the word count); the words must be separated by a space; titles that have words linked with a symbol (no space) will count as one; example: "Steins;Gate: Oukoubakko no Poriomania" has four words
Watch an anime with a year in the title — year must use Cardinal numbers; Cardinal: 1, 2, 3 and so on; can't be in words; a screenshot is suggested in case MAL changes titles
Watch an anime featured in another participant's forum set — participants are those that post in the sign-up thread and haven't withdrawn from the challenge; forum set refers to their signature images and forum avatar; state the username and initial post number; link to their post; save a screenshot in case they change it

Anime = animated work; any type unless otherwise specified
Screenshots are suggested as evidence for some items which require information that could change by the time you turn-in. There are items in which they will be required since the information will change after you complete them.
Any screenshot taken should include your username and status for the anime (if it's about an anime entry).
Items that rely on information provided by Anime+ might not be feasible for some users, just replace them with others from the same section.

Adaptations

Diamond Medalist Challenge List with Explanations

Anime = animated work; any type unless otherwise specified
Screenshots are suggested as evidence for some items which require information that could change by the time you turn-in. There are items in which they will be required since the information will change after you complete them.
Any screenshot taken should include your username and status for the anime (if it's about an anime entry).
Items that rely on information provided by Anime+ might not be feasible for some users, just replace them with others from the same section.
This section can be started/finished at any time during the challenge, but remember that you need to finish all previous sections for this one to be valid.
Carefully read each item's additional information provided, as some of them need a bit extra than what is stated with the item.
Keep in mind that all items related to score will use the score displayed in the entry's page, not those you see while searching (if 0.00).

Bonus Section: Diamond Medalist — 13 total items | 5 required (optional)

Watch an anime with 75 or more episodes that are each 15 minutes or less
Watch an anime with 75 or more episodes that are each 16 minutes or more
Watch an anime where a female character is voiced by a male voice actor — state the character and voice actor; the character must appear listed as female; characters that fall in a gray area and/or don't have a gender specified, can't be used
Watch an anime that began airing between 1917 and 1959
