Fans of comedy and parody genre, will watch an anime simply because of memes. Also interested with psychology, drama, and mystery. Occasionally watch Harem/Ecchi for the juvenile stupidity of it, not for romance, especially the kind of white-knight-that-ride-on-a-horse shoujo romance.. ugh....
My scoring policy: Just another guy who generally scores between 6-8, with most being in 7. Reason for the 7 is because there's a stigma that anything scored below 7 in MAL is bad and unwatchable, so scoring below that would make people who relies more on score to decide whether he/she want to watch a certain anime or not ran away from it. That would be unfair since who knows they would find an underrated hidden gem, even if just for a simple life lesson? Oh and good comedy/parody will easily get better score. Also tend to be harsher on overrated, overpopular, and overhyped stuffs while having soft spot for underrated and unpopular stuffs. As for the breakdown:
10: It must be good (obviously), inspiring, unique enough or at least unique among its genre/franchise, AND must have to hit me on emotional level (whether first entry to a genre, childhood/teenhood memories, something relatable, deep, meta, helping me going through hard times, etc.). It flaws mustn't be annoying enough to take away enjoyment. Bonus point if it has satisfying ending.
9: It is objectively good (story, animation, art, music, characters, battle/movement choreography, etc), first of its kind or unique, have interesting themes or funny.
8: Better than average. It simply has better story/animation/art/music/characters among other anime or at least among its genre. Enjoyable enough to be memorable. Brave enough to avert/subvert the genre.
7: Average, or in my terms: i find it worthy enough for me to not bring down the score to "unwatchable" so that it has chance to be watched by many other people and let them be the judge. Or not good enough to be above average and remarkable.
6: Below average. It has flaws serious enough to be confusing/unenjoyable, serious enough to make me consider to bring down the average score to be closer to something "unwatchable". Has bad direction, pacing, being too episodic while not delivering interesting plot/good comedy/good characters, too predictable and repetitive, boring, pointless addition, too many plot holes, arcs that dragged on too long, shoving many terms without explanation, too many recap episodes, defying lay of physics in a universe that normally doesn't defy law of physics, etc.
5: So bad or just so weird. It has more than 3 points of what i mentioned in score no. 6. Something unrelatable or too cringy. Would only recommend it to specific people or those who like to suffer.
4: So bad it's so good. Basically i'm forcing myself to experience the torture and experience new experience. Also applies to WTF-am-i-watching kind of anime.
2-3: Things that are beyond horrible are here, or anime that are polarizing (love it or hate it), or overhyped stuffs that are just disappointing and has annoyingly loud fanbase.
1: So far none, i'm not heartless enough to give a 1 to even something i hate. There probably will come a day when an anime that's either i hate or too overrated/overpopular/overhyped AND objectively horrible (as in minimum animation, lots of still pose that even i can notice, bad art, horrible voice acting, unfitting music choice, story that doesn't make sense when it's not about something that doesn't make sense, annoying and shallow characters without background) though.
