Synopsis

In a tumultuous era of World Wars and general uncertainty for the future, Germany did not expect that his only constant allies would be North Italy and Japan. Despite being a descendant of the once-powerful Ancient Rome, North Italy is weak, useless, and overly in love with pasta. In contrast, Japan is reliable and pragmatic, but has strange obsessions that would bewilder anyone. Believing he drew the short end of the straw, Germany must think of a way to make this unlikely alliance work.

To rub salt into the wound, the chaotic Allied Forces arrive, determined to stop the Axis Powers in their tracks. While they all share a common goal, none of the Allies can set aside their centuries of differences to fight as a cohesive front. As conflicts continue, these personified nations act out the events of World Wars I and II in a comedic and entertaining manner.

Do you like to talk about countries and you're into geography in general? Do you like comedy? Do you like anime with short episodes? Well, then Hetalia is here for what you're looking for!

Despite the series being hated, there are lots of great things about it as well as bad things. The artstyle is great, the humour is amazing, love the comedy in it as well as the fact that it has so many short episodes and each episode is unique at its own way. The voice acting is also great in both English and Japanese dubs which makes the show funnier!

Mixed Feelings
This show on paper is right up my alley - History, personified nations, banter revolving around these topics. But by the end of it I was getting pretty annoyed. The intro and the ending of each episode started to get annoying about halfway through, the constant reiteration of the same old jokes, the annoying sounding voices (I watched dubbed admittedly) it was getting too much. They do explore some newer themes later on which is appreciated, but overall I didn't enjoy this.

It was for the most part pretty surface level humour, I wasn't expected a PHD in history or whatever but some more depth would ...

Hetalia was my favorite anime for a good portion of middle school. I've seen every episode multiple times over, and watched the whole movie for a birthday party with friends, so I am more than capable of saying that this anime is absolute dog shit.

It has great entertainment value on an ironic and nostalgic level for me, but when it comes down to actual content it's..... bad. Zero plot, little to no character development, awful pacing etc. Not good. Though, the voice acting is enjoyable, and the theme song is debilitatingly catchy.

On an unironic level it's a bad show, BUT, if you're looking for something ...
