This is why we proofread, ladies and gentlemen.
I feel you on the unwelcome side effects of medicine. I've been struggling with crazy brain fog for the last few years, which I figured was partly caused by depression and anxiety ✌️😙 (probably still is *insert elmo fire meme*), but I recently removed my expired BC implant and didn't replace it in case that was contributing, and whadya know, my brain fog hasn't been as bad lately. It doesn't help that women's health is severely under-researched, and we're just expected to accept these horrible side effects as unavoidable. I'm sorry to hear about your migraines. I used to get them all the time, and they can be absolutely unbearable at times. Have you ever looked into IV infusion therapy? I work in the infusion center at our hospital and know quite a few patients that come in for migraine management; I believe Vyepti is the most common preventive IV treatment for that. I'm not familiar with Spain's healthcare at all, but it never hurts to know about potential options for care. I actually get my own monthly infusions for my lupus, and I certainly never would have considered it existing as a possibility before it was mentioned to me. At this point, I'm just hoping you aren't regretting giving me the okay to overshare 😭
Yes! Screw climate change and screw seasonal weather outside of their designated season! Why am I getting snow at the beginning of June? Like?? But also, Mother Earth, go off queen. Truly the biggest, most deserved "I told you so" moment in history, and we hate to be living it. Spring and Autumn are truly the superior seasons. I just like the crispier air and colors/vibe of Autumn a bit more - sweater weather, come back soon my beloved, I'm begging you. What's your favorite day of the year, if you don't mind my asking?
Thank you! I do believe photography was the right option for me in the moment but no longer works as a valid career path for where I am at now. I mostly landed on library science, because it falls in line with one of my 3 biggest interests growing up, and those being: reading, wildlife rehabilitation, and crafts. As mentioned before, my ADHD makes it difficult for me to commit to one creative outlet for long, so that wasn't really in the cards for a career. My struggling health has also prevented me from being able to perform with the physicality necessary for wildlife care. I actually interned at our local zoo when I was 16, and it's been such a fulfilling memory to look back on. The joy one gets from playing with a lynx or feeding a baby beaver is unmatched, though the hauling of 80lb feed bags every day wasn't my favorite. It was definitely dirty and thankless work, but I still loved it. Now, I'm actually getting a BA in Education, since Library Science is a Masters program, and it gives me the extra option of being able to work in a school library. I'm not really sure what aspect of the field I would like to focus on, so I'm just widening the pool, so-to-speak. I honestly feel like I've copped out by choosing library science. I do love reading and learning about anything I possibly can, but that's not really what library science is; it's more about managing/preserving information. I've actually spent more time in bookstores than libraries in my life, and it kinda feels wrong to shoot for a career where I have little experience being in the field's environment. I do enjoy like the technical aspect of keeping things in order and compiling information, but is this the best path to apply that? I'm still debating on that. Could also just be another case of that imposter syndrome we love to share.
Psych and sociology are so fun! The brain and human behavior is so intriguing to learn about, and I actually was going for a psychology minor before I switched majors and had to choose a teaching area of focus to minor in. Literature and translation studies is such a fascinating combo! What kind of careers come along with that? I wholeheartedly believe that the arts breed an extraordinary and unique connection between people that makes the experience worth it, regardless of whether it's a career path you decide to follow or not. I'm glad you can still treasure that time, even if you question your decisions at times. Do you still draw?
Funnily enough, I was fully expecting to start binging everything over the summer, since I would have so much more free time without school...that is totally not the case 😭 now I just feel super unproductive and burnt out. I keep watching random stuff for challenges that don't really interest me over the stuff I'm actually interested in. And I'm reading less, which really bums me out. I'm looking forward to your next recs though! It's only been a few years since I've started watching anime and reading manga and am still surprised by how many problematic themes I've had to push through. I really don't want to get numb to that type of content the more I experience it, because it's important to speak up about the truly wild shit that gets romanticized in Japanese media, but it seems most people have by now and shut down any criticism. It makes me nervous to talk about anime/manga with the community most of the time. I would never judge anyone for consuming that content or finding something they enjoy about it despite the problematic themes, but I find it hard to connect with anyone that denies the existence of such themes being problematic. I appreciate you considering that in your recs for me.
Also, I hope you don't mind my long ass comments on your public profile 😬
I will also also add that when making this reply, I accidentally closed the tab on my phone and deleted at least 3/4 of my initial response. I would like to note that I did, in fact, have a tiny meltdown about having to re-write everything from scratch, especially since my brain was actually brain-ing well earlier today, and my first draft was quite witty 😤
I actually took both photography and graphic design classes in high school and absolutely loved them! I knew that I really wanted to go to college after graduating, but I didn’t really know what to go for, so I just decided to give photography a go. Probably a hasty decision on my part, since it’s not something I’d like to pursue as a career, but I don’t regret it one bit, and now I have an associate’s in photography pull from for lots of different things. And graphic design and photography are interconnected in many ways as well, so I loved being able to incorporate that into my studies as well. Now, I’m going back to school for library science and all my time has been slipping away from design and photography. The challenge posts have been scratching that creative itch in the meantime, but that’s starting to get a bit dull. I also have ADHD (if you hadn’t guessed already) and hyper fixate on an activity/project so hard until I get burnt out from it and find a new hyperfixation to sink my time into. I hope that wasn’t too much unnecessary information I’ve just shared. Do you have a favorite hobby or creative outlet that you enjoy? Did you go to college? I felt a kinship during the struggle of finals week, so I just assumed you had.
I know you mentioned liking 90s manga, and since I’ve been meaning to broaden my experiences with older works, do you have any you’d recommend I give a try? It’s been such a treat getting back into Answer Me, My Prince - just the absolute warmest of vibes! So I trust you have many more hidden gems up your sleeve. And the art looks fabulous in that manga you mentioned! I was also captivated by it when I saw it in the MAL 2025 manga stack. I fear my PTW will never get shorter.
Do you happen to live in Europe? You seem to have insider knowledge of some great places to visit. Nothing short of a 2-month trip abroad would make it into the travel plan. I intend to experience as much as I can when the time comes. And did you say beech forest surrounded by volcanoes?? It sounds like a dream! Just steadily saving up for this dream trip *sigh*
Thank you for being so willing to chat with me even if it does take me weeks to respond (I’ll try to be better about that from here on)! I hope you’ve been doing well!
What can I say .... Its going to rise upto 40°C in June :<
Weather must be quite nice at your place? I hope I can move to another city (valley) sooner. And about long hair we were talking about earlier lol yeah it's even more annoying in summer but I still like it too. I got it trimmed a little recently.
As for yoga, I am happy with results I must say. Wbu, Do you visit gym often?
Also I noticed you’ve already read Fruba ahah. And I am really surprised to hear that Nodame Cantabile was one of your first manga! I love Nodame and Chiaki so much, Kamisama was nice too but I haven’t read the manga. Only watched the anime but I’m planning to read Yona of the Dawn sometime soon.
I hope things are a bit easier for you now or at least that you're getting some proper rest. 🙏
what are the odds lol
I’d love to go to Japan some day! I honestly just want to travel everywhere. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit both Chilé and Colombia for a couple travel seminars with my photography class in college. Sheesh, that was about 6 years ago now - time moves too fast. For the longest time, I’ve wanted to plan a backpacking trip around Europe, and Norma Comics is now on the destination list. Are there any other places you’d recommend visiting?
Yeah, I would say that I’m definitely influenced by the art style. Sometimes I can overlook a style that is less appealing to me if the story sounds really intriguing. I feel like such a basic normie for not being attracted to most older works, but I only got into anime/manga quite recently, so I’m not quite used to those art styles yet. For instance, my best friend suggested I pick up the Fruits Basket manga, since I loved the anime, but I just didn’t vibe with the manga art. The story is fantastic, so I’m sure I’ll pick it up eventually - just not right now. What would you say has been your favorite art style so far?
That’s probably one of the most beneficial reasons I’ve found for joining the club: the anime/manga that have been in my PTW since I joined MAL have slowly been moving to completed. Though that progress is quickly buried among new PTW finds courtesy of the club 😭. My yearly challenge seems to be going well so far. I did movie-per-day earlier this year, so that filled in quite a few entries. I’d say I have about 30 or left to finish for it, and the summer opened up a lot more free time for challenges. I chose the hardest difficulty for the manga yearly as well, but I’m not sure how much progress I’ve made with that one so far… I really oughta fill out a post.
Thank you! Oh my, it took at least a week straight to fill out my tracker. As you can see, I still have quite a bit more to fill out for manga and badges, and I’ve been kicking myself for designing it with a specific font/font size for each link. Constantia! I adore a good font. I know I just said how annoying it was to pick a unique font for my whole tracker, I still love customizing my posts to look pretty. I love all the club banners too! Everyone is so creative with their designs, and it makes me want to get back into graphic design.
I hope you had a great birthday, too, and enjoy the rest of today!
And yes, hair care after swimming is such a struggle 😅 especially when you have medium or long hair. I mostly do yoga at home. Honestly, I started doing it just to become more flexible. I used to be super stiff as a kid. Even with some physical activity, I couldn’t touch my toes with straight knees haha. That’s basically why I got into it.
And ahaha I’m not much of a drama person, that’s why I was asking you in the first place. I’ve seen a few C-dramas here and there, mostly those mythological or video game-themed ones . I don’t remember the titles tho. One I do remember liking was Put Your Head on My Shoulder lol. For K-dramas, I think I’ve watched What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim and a few others too. Really sorry I can't recommend any .....
But if you haven’t already, I’d definitely suggest Fruits Basket. It’s a beautiful anime in emotional ways and the characters grow on you, romance aspect are really good too.
I hope you are enjoying the weekend~
Yeah, that sounds like Veil! Also sounds like fate to me 👀. I actually convinced another one of my MAL friends to give it a try, and I'm stoked to say that she's enjoying it so far. But really, don't feel pressured by any means; read whatever sparks your interest in the moment. I know I'm a mood-reader, so if the vibe isn't right for me at the time, I know I won't fully enjoy a rec even if it is a great read/watch. I would love to see a big comic/manga store in my city, but alas, my Montana town could never.
I just started the MAL yearly challenges for the first time this year! I've actually been kicking myself for not at least trying to fill out what I could for last year's, but I was a bit overwhelmed by the content at the time, so I gave up. This is my working post for the Anime Yearly, but I have yet to fill out my post for the Manga Yearly. I follow all of my challenges in the Progress Tracking club here. Nice banners! And what font were you using for your anime challenge blog - I love it!
Aside from the yearlies, I just started working on the OVA-per-day challenge, but I only have enough for conquered right now. I'll start the last 2 difficulties for movie-per-day soon, but I want to finish a couple of my monthly challenges first, like Hi/Lo or roulette. I think I want to attempt more specific challenges this summer, but I also want to focus on watching/reading what I actually find interesting and fitting it where I can. Otherwise, I'll burnout again.
And yeah, I totally get what you mean, sometimes we’re just so constantly on that it gets really hard to unwind yourself. And hey, jigsaw puzzles aren’t boring at all... I can’t even do them properly! 😅 I like swimming too tho I haven’t gone in a few months. As for yoga, I’d say it’s a bit of both for me. It’s exercise, but by the end of it, I always feel more relaxed. I really love it.
I’m excited that you’re adding LoTM! I hope it surprises you tho it will take time to get actually hooked up. I hadn’t heard of Kanata Kara or Usemono Yado before, but the premise for both sounds quite interesting. I wanna read Mushishi too anime was just so good.
I haven’t seen Queen In Hyun’s Man, but I’m always up for a good time-travel romance so I’ll check it out! I’ve heard of Love Between Fairy and Demon, I’ve seen some clips around and I can understand about the special effects in C-Dramas Lolol. I might give it a try sometime when I’m in the mood for something dramatic and extra.
TYSM for all these recs! I appreciate it 🙏
You’ve got such a calm and cozy taste, it’s really nice~!
Glad to hear that! Happy Mother's Day (do we say that? 😅)! Did you spent the day with your mum? I think it's next Sunday in my country, good thing you reminded me, I should get something for mine 🤔
A long time indeed..! I imagine you know a lot about anime and manga then! Which was the manga you read 😃? I mean the one that made you start reading manga. Well, I saw my first anime the summer of 2023, so it hasn't even been 2 years yet..😔 I started watching seasonals in 2024 , that's why I decided to create an account on MAL. Now about manga, I don't remember when I started reading them. Somewhere in 2023 probably.
Are you a Potterhead? (I saw the "ravenclaw" in your profile) Who is your fav character?
What kind of manga do you read usually? Do you have recommendations?
