LES! *tackles and hugs* (I have to stop doing that lmao)
Hey babes, I'm going to school too and studying for it so please don't sweat it at all, I'm more so sending messages again to you just to make sure you were okay. Don't take this the wrong way, but during the brief period of time we talked, even if sparse, I got somewhat attached to you haha, and I can't stand the thought of a buddy of mine being down I suppose :/ And hey, the same is very true to you.

Sweet! I'm trying to get back into the medium myself but have kinda been consumed with gaming this year, as well as school once again.

I've been very fine myself, just trying to relax and take it slow, Christmas was awesome!!!! I made a chacuterie board and got an espresso machine. :3 Though I am recently recovering from a bad stomach virus. =.= How was yours? I also have a bit of a proposal for ya! :) ANd don't worry lol, I just got one year older. xD
Royal-Guard-Reli Mar 11, 7:06 PM

I've returned lmao.
Don't worry about my other messages lol, if you want I just wanted to see how you were doing? How's the new year treating you so far? I see you've been busy with a decent bit of anime hehe

websky Jan 2, 9:36 PM
So glad you liked it!

I wanted to recommend a few in case any weren’t to your taste! But yeah if you get a chance the manga is amazing as well for Gauken Alice, but glad you liked the anime too! Honestly it was so fun trying to search for some different recommendations for you :D

Happy New Year to you as well!

Les! *tackles and hugs* You’re a very rare, and always beloved treat - how are you doing lately? Ugh, our conversations are so seldom, though I suppose it’s established they’re sort of like a good fruit, and must be ripened first lmao. Let’s get back into it, I warn you, this will be a long one; then again since it takes nearly a month for you to get back to me anyway I imagine that’ll be a non sequitur… o-o

Ah, it’s okay, there’s so many words that it’s no wonder they can escape us. Good luck on that list design btw! <3
Well, don’t mean to intrude/be pretentious but there seems to be an interesting connotation others get by seeing the numbers on my list. This is particularly resonant because I got asked just yesterday: “2000 anime completions, my lord. did you not feel immense boredom or pain during numerous watches?”
But….. it doesn’t work like that. First of all: I’ve watched anime when I was 13 haha, and I’m 21 now, while I go through big phases and am notoriously zealous with everything I enjoy, from music, exercise, etc; it took a ton of time for me to watch over 2000 series and it doesn’t happen within a short frame of time, it’s nearly a decade worth - leading to the next point - let’s not think of anime as intrinsically something that begets such feelings more than any other art form; what really separates watching 2 seasons of Space Dandy more than watching one season of American Dad? Many people come to me thinking that anime is a chore of some sort, and while it is heavily capitalistic, repeating itself over, and over, and over, and over, and over again - I don’t find it anymore repetitive than hollywood movies or YA novels aimed at teenagers. Anime isn’t a chore to me, it’s… fun, and when it gets too much I practice my other art forms, like books, music, movies, etc. For an example; I recently finished a roughly 556 page novel in my favorite fantasy series of all time (The Horus Heresy check it out bae~), and within 48 hours and since I got so burned out - I watched a few episodes of Parks and Recreation, and since that got me less burnt out I am currently reading The Undiscovered Self by Carl Jung.
It may seem like I’ve watched a lot of anime, and sure I have, but it’s never all at once, it just naturally grew, add that onto me sometimes watching more or less anime depending on the year and, variables happen I guess you could say.
Now in regards to One Piece; I started watching that during my first year of watching anime haha, and I have always watched it on the sidelines in some way shape or form, but for longer running series in general I usually stick to one long running series, then watch 2-3 more on the side.
Well, sorry for that rant haha.

We all have phases and trends lol, I remember I was into a creepy pasta phase when I was a teenager…. We don’t talk about that lmao.

Please, Les, you’re underselling yourself - that’s a damn good foothold for someone at 21 and I am still super proud of you. Has there been any upset with, maybe subconsciously from your routine having to change now that you moved back in?
Oh that reminds me of a certain video hehe. Otherwise, it is indeed a broad spectrum, but, and basically; I’m a penetration tester. We have a philosophy of the best defense being the best offense, so; so I learn to enact attacks myself to understand how a cybersecurity attack works. Hmm, you ever play a video game that has hacking in it? Like, maybe Fallout, or some Deus Ex game, and there’s always some puzzle to beat the hacking minigame? It’s not far off and somewhat similar, in practice it’s looking for weakpoints in a system’s defense, a line of code out of place here, something amidst there - and exploiting it. So, i can basically break down all of your computer’s firewalls if they’re garbage. Your computer screen, and system run by algorithms, I find the algorithm that disrupts it *poof* and something goes wrong, though I can do other fields like network defense, etc, but it’s not my main thing.
I naturally gravitated towards the profession because I’m an aggressive fighter and thinker, so I like to think; it’s honestly not that different from my time boxing to find a weakpoint in someone’s guard, or even playing a stupid FPS game to find a flaw in a chokepoint, flank, etc, of the enemy - it doesn’t require that much thinking to do, at least if you have a mindset that understands manipulation.

….. WELL! Let’s put this all in a spoiler so your wall isn’t completely filled.

And that’s the stories over lol. The food. Was. Divine. ;-; I can’t believe I didn’t gain much weight, well, those stairs I tell ya lol.

Yes! . . . I suppose lol. I swear some juxtapositions of rules and morality are insane but let’s not get into that---xD

I look forward to it, Les. :3 I do hope you forgive me for this wall of text. >.<
Royal-Guard-Reli Jul 10, 2020 6:05 PM
Haha, no no no, Les, as I told my sister when I dragged her to a convention and she said it was weird: “Nah. Here you’re the weird ones.” Use that line and you’re set. xD

Awe, Les, I’m so happy for you! :3 I love seeing something or someone improve over time and I’m sure you will as well, uh, hope this doesn’t sound pretentious but if you ever have any advice - well…. I wrote over 2000 of them I’d like to think I’m decent at it. =.= And yeah, a lot of list designs can conflict with how comfortable it is for someone to read tags, like, having a white and bright aesthetic list while super pretty - it can get taxing on the eyes for extended period of times. Or perhaps you’re speaking of resolution?

I enjoy Monster very much! <3 I highly consider it Death Note’s more finally aged of alcoholic quality brother, and while it can be slow at times, boy, is it worth it. ^^

I actually had to google this to know what you meant haha, you mean the vocaloid? I… can kinda see it. I wasn’t aware you were into vocaloids? :o

Woah, I didn’t even know you were out on your own, even less so did the idea come into my head that you had a job that allowed you to work at home to begin with, and all at 20 - I mean, pardon, 21. I bet you worked very hard in school. O.o That’s very impressive. Lucky that your numbers are dropping though. T_T I’m taking a trip to the beach in about 12 days just to get a change of pace, but even then wont be going out THAT much, honestly, I’m just going there for the food.
Speaking honestly, I consider myself an extrovert with introvert tendencies - I love people but I’m also fine being at home with my own vices and interest, like working on my computer, reading books, or writing/analyzing something, so I’m good myself.

I’m glad to hear! You’re 21 now!!! How does it feel?! …. Even though you were basically doing adult stuff already it seems lol.

I know we seldom get to talk, so it was really nice seeing this message from you again. :3
Royal-Guard-Reli Jul 8, 2020 9:07 PM
Les! *tackles and hugs* Don't you dare think I didn't know today is officially - YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3

I know we've only been talking for a shirt time and that our conversations are seldom, regardless, that does not stop me as seeing you as a great friend on here, I love your passions in regards to not just the medium but it subsequiturs, such as figurines - which I hope you get another one of for a present. ;3
Are you planning to celebrate in anyway? Call me a dork, and I know as we get older the zeal of the day of our birth will get less and less, but I LOVE birthdays haha. So, have a blast! <3
Royal-Guard-Reli Jun 20, 2020 6:50 PM
Indeed. I'm sure if you drag your family to one you will have very.. awkward moments as well lol.
I love hearing about people's passion and experiences, it's such a darling part of the human condition. The same applies to you btw, if you ever want to go on to something about me feel free. <3

In some sense yes, however, I would urge you that your example of: "this was cute, I liked it"..... is... fine. o-o Like, I suffer from overthinking as well, you have NOOOOO idea hahaha, but while I admit I can write oddly seamlessly, that's just because I've been doing it for years and have a sort of "prose" established for about a decade now, since, if I'm not mistaken, you don't write or do presentations a lot - it's only natural that while you cannot say, eh, " a lot", you can still say what "you" think on the series, it doesn't have to be compared to some arbitrary standard, furthermore, if you do find a flaw in what you think by golly that's a time to IMPROVE! <3 So go ahead and get writing, you'll only get better and beat those fears by facing and acknowleding them, right? But if you don't want to do it nobody is forcing you. I do admit I can get stuck for around 2-5 minutes but due to the nature of my tags and how I present them being a sort of compromise between my "critical" self and my exaggerated "persona" form, I can get away with some jokes. For instance; we ALL know there are typical series that are so repetitive, so mediocre, that we've seen again, and again, and again, and are just copies of another series to the point we can barely acknowledge or care about them - due to how I write I don't have to write my thoughts about them specifically, I can just make fun of them. While I have encountered problems such as these, I can always find ways around them. ^^

That's so cool once again! And hey we all look back at nostalgia like that, making ourselves seem so innocent and youthful lol.

Death Note is not an anime if you ask me that gets better over time, but will continue to be trapped in its time - which while usually a bad thing in this case; it isn't because imo.... uh, it kinda was the best anime to exist at its time with context. What else was out when it was? It pushed a staple in anime for philosophical ideas in a modern age that wasn't exactly pretentious but cooed the audience in a cat and mouse game that while Monster perfected, Death Note streamlined - it is essentially the perfect anime for people who think all anime is childish. It really is a gem to me and I'll continue to treasure it, even though with every watch of it I continue to find little flaws here and there.... the second half isn't bad please god people stop telling me it is.
Awe, thank you very much. Like I said, I sort of present things how I talk, and vice versa. Honestly, I don't know at times whether I'm giving a presentation or just having a normal conversation... the juxtaposition is more arduous than Mark Hamill being both The Joker and Luke Skywalker. <.<

Honestly - I DON'T EVEN KNOW BUT WANT IT TOO! It looks like a new unit in the game and while it looks like a pain in the ass to paint and it's apart of, eh, not my favorite army - I'd love to get one.

Please, Les, we do this all the time hahaha - if I was REALLY mad that it took you "long" to reply, I needed hobbies of my own anyway. You have no excuse because you don't need one, take care of yourself silly lol. I am doing quite well myself. <3 Tell me, how have you been dealing with the quarantine? The rules are lessining up around here but the numbers continue to rise... I'll still be staying inside mostly haha. Though I will admit, the moment the bookstore opened up again I ran like a bunny-rabbit around the place. >_>
Also, it needs to be said; man, your anime list is darlingly delightful.
Royal-Guard-Reli Jun 14, 2020 5:32 PM
Les! *(tackles and hugs) Its been a while, beautiful! Hope you’re doing well! <3 I’m a big con person, yes, and have been to several. My first was in Otakon in 2015 and is an experience I’ll never forget, I dragged my mother with me and when I went to the dealer’s room for the first time it was heaven and also hell…. At the entrance, when you first walked in the door - there was a hentai stand directly to your right. So I had to CONSTANTLY distract my mother, to make her avoid the hentai. xD I also do panels at conventions and get hired/volunteer to do them, they’re a lot of fun and, geek I am, a blast since I get to talk about some stuff. My last was about Hellsing Ultimate and Vampires in Japanese mythology - my next was going to be about Jojo’s Bizzare Adventures and Herculean Myths…. Then corona happened, and my panel at Otakon this year got canceled. >_>

Haha indeed. And to be honest I’m watching a lot less anime than I used to and I’m quite happy at that, I can basically watch anime the same way people watch tv - you know - constantly, but now that all my tags have been established and I actually have to put a little effort into making a tag for something, I have to move at a slightly slower pace due to now being forced to create coherent thoughts… if that makes sense? Lol. And I did. I really did get the time to reflect. <3

That’s quite a refreshing break from the “I watched shounen as a kid” and got back into it story I hear again and again. But really, you watched all of that when you were so young? Were they just naturally playing on the TV? Well, for my story you already know if you’ve read my profile - I always watched anime as a kid, just didn’t know it. Yu-Gi-Oh on Saturday mornings, Naruto and Dragon Ball Z on Saturday nights. Don’t get me wrong, every kid knows there’s something “different” about these cartoons then, say, Ed Edd n Eddy love, they just have a level of, not maturity, but writing prose that was different - especially the, ya know, talking in their head every 5 seconds part lol. Then again, so was X-Men, and Avatar the Last Airbender, so I just thought they were cartoons for the longest time. It wasn’t until I was 10 that I KNEW what anime was, but just grew out of it, sure, I read the wiki to see what Naruto was up to, but never bought any manga and while I did still watch it just didn’t care about it as much.

It wasn’t until I was homeschooled, at 13, I found anime again. I went through everything on Hulu, ever live action show and adult cartoon, mountains of family guy, The Office, and at my lowest point. *Sigh* Jersey Shore. Let’s not look back at that dark time hahaha. Point was, I exhausted everything. So, I decided, on a whim, to watch an anime. Why? I had nothing else to lose, why not? I watched two at first: Yu-Gi-Oh GX for nostalgia, and Soul Eater on the side. GX was just as cheesy as I remember, but had some pretty good plots, but Soul Eater was… different. Action. Ecchi. Sure, but I could tell it was trying to tell me something else, something greater, an ideal and set of ideals that it wanted to communicate to me behind the action. In the end I watched its 52 episodes, and left feeling satisfied, but also curious at what else this medium can offer me, Soul Eater was akin to X-Men and Batman the Animated series, entertaining, has a few good episodes and has principles it wants to show the viewer, but I still didn’t think of it as any greater than the cartoons I watched before….

Then I watched Death Note. Dear. Dear. Death Note. This show, I do not exaggerate, changed my life. I had never seen something so great in all of an animated medium, the ideas and themes it communicated to me eloquently were, as far as I know at the time, reserved for film and literature. Not anything animated. The shots. The color palettes. The philosophical debates. When I got done with Death Note, I remember exactly what happened next. I sat there for five minutes, staring at the screen blanky, then smiled, and said: “I loved that. I want more of it. . . what else is there?”

The rest is history. <3
I’m also super happy, some new figurines for my hobby are getting released soon and they look SOOO good.

I'm glad to get a message from you again. <3 And once again really hope you're doing alright during these benighted times.
Royal-Guard-Reli May 24, 2020 5:04 PM
Very. And they just released a new trailer/cinematic in celebration of their new event, they're revamping almost all their models for a new generation! <3

I see. Have you ever been to a convention before in general? They're very fun, if you can get past some of the sights... and sounds. Honestly there's no point to looking down or being too disgusted by things, they're apart of the community just like you and it's awesome to see people united under a banner of loving geeky stuff. ^^

Well, that's very interesting hahaha. Basically, I don't know if you have checked my list, but I recently tagged every single show I have ever watched - within 5 days. That's me writing a description, even if short and jokey, for all those shows - in 5 days. I was physically and mentally taxed and could have given up at any time but pushed myself through it and not to sound dramatic, but it was very, Idk, almost spiritual and reflective? I got to see a glimpse of everything in my life and see memories given form through a work of art, I had to remember my thoughts on the show and my mindset at the time. Seeing shows I once hated, cherished, etc, all at once over the course of days was something oddly comforting. My point is; I want to remember where I came from in this medium, so to speak? I remember the first two shows I ever watched in anime when I got into it; Soul Eater and Death Note. What were my thoughts on them at the time? How have they changed now? My point is, I don't want to watch another show now that I haven't seen. I don't want to watch my 2000th anime which, indeed, would have been special and probably will be to celebrate, but am instead watching shows I have seen before in the past and want more thoughts on with my modern mindset. I got to do that LIGHTLY when doing the tags, but it was only surface level. So I'm going through a variety of anime from the past, starting with Black Butler and next up is going to be, well, idk, and I don't care I suppose you could say.
I love and cherish this medium, but I think I need to slow down with it. Sure, it's given me the opportunity to run a club at a library and do panels at conventions as well as meet amazing people, and I still enjoy it - pardon, I'm rambling haha. Point is, I'm holding off for a while before we reach 2000. Thanks for asking. :3

Say, how did you get into anime?
Royal-Guard-Reli May 18, 2020 6:43 PM
Haha that does make sense, honestly it's more so an anime in-name-only because it was made in Japan. The film just never runs out of money and consistently looks amazing, a shame it is still a terrible movie....

Well, Warhammer 40K is basically the inspiration for all "super soldier sci fi" (Like Halo, Starcraft, etc) and is possibly the most bleak sci fi in all of fiction. The best way I can describe it is: "Imagine siding with the nazi's because the nazi's are fighting cthulu?" That metaphor never fails to work lol.
Those figurines are really cool though. ;-; Honestly I always wanted to get anime figurines when I was younger but they were too expensive, I didn't have a job, and uh, even though I love my Lelouch figurine I didn't think I'd do much with them. Do you ever go to conventions to buy figurines? Oh don't get me wrong you're getting ripped the hell of but hey it sounds like a fun adventure! <3
