I give Chihayafuru anime around an 8 or 9 but the manga is simply amazing. Impressed with the character development. Especially when the author showed more of the Meijin and Queen. One of the best characters in the manga.
Yeah she does go on hiatus a lot. Dammit! That means I am already reading 3 manga that frequently go on hiatus........
Anyways if you do start I suggest the manga as it is way better but I do see how so many episodes/ chapters can put you off from watching.
I just caught up with chihayafuru not long ago too. The manga was amazing. the characters development in the manga is where its at. I don't read much shojo or josei at all but I think I would like josei more.
