©Pfp credits Last update: 12-Jul-2024 ◦•●◉✿ Greetings, dear visitor! ✿◉●•◦ ◆ I'm just a typical Greek citizen in my late 20s. My main goal in life is to constantly improve myself and extract the utmost joy from each passing day, despite the inevitable obstacles that come my way. ◆ My journey with anime officially began in 2013, though my exposure to it dates back to my childhood. I used to watch anime on TV or by buying VHS tapes, but at the time, I couldn't distinguish it from other animation. Every animated show was simply a "cartoon for kids" to me. ◆ In terms of my interests and lifestyle, I find comfort in the simple pleasures and prefer a laid-back and peaceful approach to life. Activities such as taking leisurely walks, exploring my local surroundings, and enjoying a cup of coffee at a cozy café with friends bring me contentment. This doesn't mean that I dislike more "adventurous" or bustling experiences, it's just that I gravitate towards a more relaxed way of living. By adopting a relaxed approach, I feel better equipped to handle my personal and professional challenges. ◆ Some of my favorite things in life are listening to a lot of music, exploring the cosmos through astronomy, capturing moments with my phone or my DSLR, spending my time and money on gacha games, staying active on my exercise bicycle, drinking coffee, playing video and board games, spending quality time with friends and family, occasionally catching a football match, keeping up with the latest in technology, watching playthroughs of various games (particularly ones I enjoyed playing as a child on my PS2), and indulging in dry/anti/pun/deadpan humor, often sharing silly jokes with others. I also have a deep love for nature and animals, especially cats. ◆ Engaging in meaningful conversations with fellow enthusiasts and forging new connections always brings a smile to my face. In this regard, if you want to get in touch, don't hesitate to contact me! However, I have to inform you that I'm quite bad at replying promptly, so please be patient. I promise I'll get back to you as soon as I can! ◆ I don't accept random friend requests. I'd appreciate having a conversation first. There’s no reason to add me if you don’t plan on talking, as it defeats the purpose of connecting. ✰Rating System✰ I rate dropped anime only when I have strong feelings about it or when I've watched enough to have a good understanding of it. Even if I don't finish a series, I rate it to share my experience and give others an idea of how I feel about it. The number of episodes I've watched doesn't matter to me. I can drop a series after just one episode or a few episodes before the ending. The same goes for manga. For someone looking at my scores, all they get is a rough estimate of how I feel about a title. Nothing more than that. However, for me, my scores are much more important because they serve as a personal record. They help me keep track of my journey, reminding me of my thoughts and feelings about different titles, and refining my taste for future choices. I tend to pick up and drop stuff relatively easily. Most of the time, I drop shows not because they're bad, but because I either lost interest or feel like I have nothing to gain from continuing, despite them being good (e.g. Mushoku Tensei, Spy x Family). External factors can affect my experience and score. These include: ◉ Mood: If I'm in a bad mood, I might rate a show lower than if I were feeling better, and vice versa. ◉ Pacing: The speed at which I watch or read can impact my enjoyment. For example, binging a series, particularly a long one, might feel overwhelming, while watching it slowly might make it feel too dragged out. ◉ Expectations: My initial expectations going in can shape my experience. If a show doesn't meet my expectations, I might rate it lower even if it's objectively good. If it proves itself to be better than expected, I might rate it higher. ◉ Recent Titles: What I've watched or read recently can influence my expectations and enjoyment. For example, a series might seem less impressive if I recently finished a praiseworthy one, and vice versa. ◉ Weekly Watching vs Binge-Watching: Watching anime weekly (seasonals) builds anticipation and allows for more discussion with others, keeping the excitement alive over a longer period. However, it can also break immersion and make it harder to remember details from week to week. Binge-watching offers a more immersive and consistent experience, allowing me to stay deeply engaged with the story and characters. On the downside, it can sometimes feel overwhelming or lead to burnout. Both methods have their pros and cons, and they influence how much I enjoy a show and ultimately how I rate it. ◉ Watching Alone vs. With Friends: Watching alone allows for deeper immersion and a personal connection with the story. I can absorb the plot, characters, and themes at my own pace without any external distractions. On the other hand, watching with friends can add a layer of enjoyment through shared reactions, discussions, and the fun of experiencing something together, especially when it comes to comedy. However, it can also be distracting and unconsciously influence my perception based on group dynamics and opinions. If friends have strong reactions, positive or negative, it might affect how I view the show. Despite all these factors, critical evaluation is always included when scoring titles. It's not that my opinion is drastically affected by these factors to the point where I might love a title under one set of circumstances and hate it under another. Different situations may lead to slightly different experiences, but if something is good, I'll probably like it no matter what (the same goes for if it's bad). My fundamental judgment remains steady. The different circumstances might influence the nuances of my experience, but the core of my evaluation stays consistent. I don't follow the "no drop policy rule" because I find it pointless and ridiculous. I see no reason to waste my time and energy on something I'm not enjoying. If I don't like it, I drop it, and move on to something else. Simple as that. Sometimes I choose not to rate short content that isn't the typical anime or manga, such as random OVAs, special episodes, short animated works, filler content from a franchise, one-shots, etc. I do this to avoid affecting my overall mean score with these short titles that have little to no impact. This approach helps keep my ratings more balanced and reflective of my experience with the "more important" full-length or main titles that have a bigger impact and are more likely to leave me with a lasting impression, whether good or bad. However, the general rule still applies; if I have strong feelings about it, I might still give it a score. 10 - Crème de la crème An outstanding experience, truly exceptional in every aspect. From start to finish, it excelled in every way, making it a true gem in the world of anime and manga. Its presentation, execution, and exploration were flawless, showcasing the epitome of perfection and masterful storytelling. Although perfection may be unattainable, this work came as close as possible. I enjoyed every moment of it immensely, never once feeling bored or disengaged. "Must watch/read" recommended. 9 - Astonishing Nearly perfect. Rich in content. Minor flaws have been overshadowed and become null. I probably had some very insignificant problems with it, and maybe that's why it's not ranked higher. But still, top-tier quality in every aspect. A title that went beyond its limits and is sometimes even somewhat of a masterpiece, in its respective genre. Enjoyable from the beginning to the very end. This, and the previous category as well, consists of titles that have appealed to me on a personal level. Greatly recommended 8 - Great Despite having some small flaws I couldn't overlook, these titles are certainly among the best I've ever watched/read. They're very satisfying and stand out from the norm, giving me a superb overall experience. Even though they aren't the best titles I've ever encountered, they still managed to fulfill almost all of my expectations, therefore they are highly appreciated. Maybe not enticing enough to become true favorites of mine, but, on an extended list, many of them would be honorable mentions. Not as rare as higher-ranked titles, yet still unique and solid. This is the kind of anime/manga I would like to come across more often. Highly recommended 7 - Entertaining An enjoyable title with little to complain about, typically successful in achieving its goals. Every title in this category is either too commendable to get a 6, or not remarkable enough to get an 8. It possesses several strong points that make it somewhat memorable, but there are also flaws, such as inconsistency, pacing issues, or a dull ending. Overall, while it was enjoyable and had sufficient quality, it lacked that "special something" to earn a higher score, even if there weren't any major issues. Recommended 6 - Likeable Titles in this category hover slightly above average. They fulfill their intended purpose of providing consistent entertainment, yet they fall short of leaving a lasting impression. Many of them had the potential to get a 7, but they ultimately lacked the execution or distinctiveness to stand out. The positives outweighed the negatives just by a narrow margin. Overall, decent titles that I enjoyed, and managed to hold my interest to a certain extent. However, while the experience was kind of nice, they are easy to ignore and I'll most likely forget about them after a few weeks. "Worth giving a try" recommended 5 - Passable Just a time-killer. The bare minimum I'm okay with. A mediocre experience that didn't really attract my attention. It probably had some good or interesting elements (e.g premise, animation/art, music, or some likable characters), but, there were also some negative things going on, like being full of cliches, consisting of predictable tropes, uninteresting characters, or having an unimpressive ending. Maybe I enjoyed a few moments here and there, but other than that, it's a forgettable title that I probably forced myself to finish towards the end. If I didn't drop it, it's because I either liked it a bit more than I usually like a 5/10 title, or I was too bored and I just wanted to occupy myself with something. I don't feel like my time was wasted, but the title's issues gnawed away at the good side significantly, and depending on my expectations going in, I might have been slightly disappointed. Another fitting name for this category would be "the lowest passing grade" Cautiously recommended 4 - Underwhelming There's probably a decent effort or an interesting idea behind them, but these titles were mostly disappointing, due to either being poorly executed, consisting of characters that I couldn't care less about, or they simply didn't meet my expectations. Anything positive about them exists only in the realm of potential and fails to materialize further. Not quite a disaster...more like a minor car accident. Unpleasant, but not harmful. Didn't like them, but also didn't hate them. I can probably find something that I appreciate, but for the most part, they are subpar titles that I didn't enjoy, and many of them have been dropped. Although their positive attributes are mostly insignificant, they still prevent them from being significantly worse. Most titles in this category end up being dropped, although there are exceptions for various reasons, as seen in the previous category. Ultimately, they are below-average titles that teeter on the edge of being considered bad. Probably not recommended 3 - Repulsive At best, these titles are boring, and nothing more. But most of the time, they were so disappointing, to the point where I couldn't care less about them. They failed too much, where any appealing attribute, be it artwork, music, or a certain character, isn't enough to salvage them, and they ended up being "cringe", to say the least. At this point, it's becoming increasingly difficult for me to finish anything that I dislike this much, therefore most of the scores from here on out will be for movies/shorts/OVAs/one-shots, etc. The only positive thing I can say about these titles is that, even though they are somewhat bad, I don't consider them as "my worst experiences of all time " because, at the end of the day, they had "something" to offer, so I didn't mind their poor quality all that much. This has to go for the next category, which brings us to... Definitely not recommended. 1 & 2 - Horrendous A special place reserved for titles that aren't just awful, but also offensive. The worst and most unpleasant encounters I've ever had. Titles in this category are either extremely bland, or outright bad, and nothing is strong enough to save them. Absolute trash. There's nothing to gain from anything given these scores, aside from laughing about how miserably they failed. Titles that I gave 2/10, are almost on the same level as the 1/10 ones, with the only difference being that they were a little less painful. Titles that I haven't dropped from this category must have a very specific and decent reason in order not to drop them, which tbh, most of the time they are either too meme to drop or I'm just bored and I have nothing else to watch/read instead. There are also titles that I don't drop because I am morbidly curious, and I want to see how they will end, hoping that they won't be as horrible as I expect. But unfortunately, I just end up wasting my time. "Don't even bother" recommended Unrated Unrated titles generally fall into one of these three categories: 1. I haven't decided on a score yet. I might rate it later, or I might not. 2. It's been a long time since I last interacted with the title, so I can't provide a thoughtful score that represents my current view. 3. It's too insignificant to rate, so I don't bother. This goes for: - Additional filler content from a franchise, such as random spin-offs, OVAs, specials, one-shots, etc. (unless they are part of the main story) - Titles with very few episodes or short runtimes. For manga, this typically applies to one-shots and lesser-known manga with only a few chapters. Generally, these titles don't fit the usual anime/manga mold, making it harder to give them a score since I have to use a different mindset from the traditional scale I typically apply. - In random order, and limited to anime I've watched - Included as many different titles as possible for the sake of diversity - Lists include some of my all-time favorite songs, not all of them - Mainly focused on the music/song part. Visuals and overall emotional impact are also taken into consideration Openings Tommy Heavenly "Pray" - Gintama TK "Unravel" - Tokyo Ghoul Kuniaki Haishima "Grain" - Monster Masami Okui "Rinbu Revolution" - Shoujo Kakumei Utena Survive Said The Prophet "MUKANJYO" - Vinland Saga Origa "Inner Universe" - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex Lia "My Soul, Your Beats!" - Angel Beats Kumiko Noma "Lilium" - Elfen Lied Coldrain "We are not alone" - Rainbow: Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin Ryouta Komatsu & Charlie Kosei "Kagen no Tsuki" - Mononoke Karen Aoki & Daisuke Hasegawa "Great Days" - JJBA: Diamond is Unbreakable Asian Kung-Fu Generation "Re:Re:" - ERASED Jae Joong "Breaking Dawn" - Noblesse UVERworld "Touch off" - The Promised Neverland Aimer "Brave Shine" - Fate/Stay Night: UBW livetune adding Takuro Sugawara "Sen no Tsubasa" - Re:␣Hamatora Man with a Mission "My Hero" - Inuyashiki SiM "EXiSTENCE" - Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis BOA "Duvet" - Serial Experiments Lain Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas "Let Me Hear" - Parasyte: The Maxim Hiroko Kasahara "Sora e..." - Romeo's Blue Skies QUEENDOM "Ciki Ciki Bam Bam" - Paripi Koumei Survive Said The Prophet "found and lost" - Banana Fish Endings Oda Kaori "Calling" - Baccano! Ah that really sucks! It actually happend to me too when I wrote my reviews here. Most of those comments were pretty funny though, stuff like "you gave Monogatari a 5 and MHA a 7?? you definitely have trash taste" and things like that xD Hope your experience wasn't too bad though.
Oh, I see. Well, I really hope he can get to actually finish the manga but maybe that's just wishful thinking at this point :') Or have someone else continue it when he is still alive would be nice too.
Haha there really is no secret xD I only watch seasonals at night when I want to relax, so watching 2-3 eps is easy! And it's not like I have to watch everyday, some days there aren't any seasonals and in some others there are like 3 or 4. So I chose how many eps I want to watch in a day. But only watching a few shows is okay too, maybe you don't like to focus on too many at once. For me though, it works better this way because I'm a mood watcher/reader, so I have to frequently change what I watch or read ^^;
It's pretty long, so rewatching it might be difficult haha. Btw are your favourites ordered or they're just random?
Ohh what are those? I'm asking because I have a few popular series that make me annoyed too xD
Tbh I've already dropped 2 of them lol. Katsute Mahou Shoujo to Aku wa Tekitai shiteita, as it wasn't what I expected and Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi too, because the first ep kinda bored me. It looks great but sadly it feels kind of cliche so far. As for what I'm actually watching:
Atri: My Dear Moments (haven't seen a VN adaptation in a while!)
Shoushimin Series (same author as Hyouka so of course I had to check this out! they dedicated a whole episode to hot cocoa and it was so fun, I love slow paced anime like this one. probably my favourite this season!)
Oshi no Ko 2nd season (so far it's more fun to watch than the first season, the way they talk about adaptations in general here is interesting)
Isekai Suicide Squad (this is so ridiculous and stupid, it's actually fun haha)
Make Heroine ga Oosugiru (not what I expected but it looks beautiful, sadly ep 2 was such a disappointment. it definitely lowered my expectations now)
Nier Automata season 2 (as I haven't played the game, I'm enjoying this so far)
Aside from these, I'm also watching Spice and Wolf remake from last season, The Raven does not choose its Master, along with Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction and MHA season 7. My favourite is probably The Raven does not choose its Master so far, but we'll see how things change as the summer seasonals are getting more eps! Well, I talked a lot about this xD
I've told Gooseflower this too, but slow replies kind of feel like writing letters haha. So that actually has its own charm as well!
Ohh feel free to share! I actually know quite a few of the characters already because it's almost impossible not to see One Piece content on the internet xD So yeah, I have no problem with that!
Thank you! They are from one of my favourite manga, Witch Hat Atelier. The one in my profile pic is Riche and the other two are Coco and Agott. Not sure if you've heard of it, but it's really good so far. And it's getting an anime adaptation too next year! It looks gorgeous haha. I totally recommend it if you love fantasy, magic and great worldbuilding.
My training is divided between four segments of college lessons and four internships, and is altogether due to end in late 2026. Now that I'm doing my first internship after the first segment at college, I've been thrown headlong into work life as a deskjockey! I work at a neighbouring district office, and for this internship I'm deployed in housekeeping, so we allocate posts and provide organizational support for the whole office. I am quite grateful that I have reached this point and that I get along with my older colleagues - not something I should take for granted. It has also forced me to fix my weekly schedule, as my previous schedule was something between a mess and nonexistent. I think I'm overall getting better at leading a more balanced and fruitful life c:
Frieren is already a favourite of mine after only one season. Good fantasy anime is sorely needed in this day and age ^^" One of the great things about it, in my opinions, is that you don't know where the story is going, and it always surprises you in a good way. I'm glad you liked it too! I'm curious to see where the story leads after this point. The good thing about going on a journey in a world like this is that there are endless possibilities where we could go next!
Apothecary Diaries was in some ways an even more enjoyable watch, because it's a great drama. It also nails several other aspects: the setting is fleshed out and feels realistic, the characters are many-layered and very endearing, and the medicinal aspect is also very well researched. I think it's shaping up to become a favourite of mine as well. I'm very happy we're getting a second season so soon! I wholeheartedly recommend it!
Jujutsu Kaisen is a great show to watch so far. I'm halfway through the first season and I like the conflicts we get into and themes we explore. I also find the characters extremely likable, which isn't something I can say about other battle-shounen very much.
A Sign of Affection has great ... worldbuilding? The way it presents the main characters' worlds as very distinct but complementary is something that I wasn't expecting, but I think they did a very good job with it. Apart from that ... opening was meh, ending was great, and I didn't like how the boys were drawn lol. I hope we get a second season!
I watched Mushishi spread out across several months in 2021, and yes, it was a very rewarding experience. Please don't apologize, you described it perfectly in that long paragraph. Anything I added would just be forced purple prose ^^" Since it's episodic, I only remember snippets, but in Mushishi's case I don't think that matters, since it's more about the experience itself as you watch it. What I appreciated about it is the variety of emotions that it makes you feel: dread, relief, warmth, even disgust. As for your scores, it's interesting that you settled on an 8 for the first season and two 9s for the two parts of the second season, because it's exactly the other way round for me. I guess I found the first season to be a more complete experience overall. I also think it would be worth a rewatch someday!
Does that link contain spoilers? I haven't read the manga yet, so I'm trying to avoid knowing the possible endings for now ^^;
Hmm, you've got an interesting point. I kind of agree, because I usually watch 10-12 shows each season and not even half of them get at least a 7/10... it depends, I guess. Maybe you can predict a lot of things too? After seeing so many shows, it's easy to notice a patern haha. Although there is always at least one anime I'm really looking forward to watching each season :D
Btw what are you gonna watch from the summer season?
FMAB was amazing!! All the characters were likeable and the story was quite emotional. I can definitely see why so many people love it. I plan to watch the older adaptation too, even though I heard it doesn't follow the manga.
Yeah, it's not like I won't complain about bad shows when I see them, but arguing with people and saying they have "trash taste" is pointless xD Not to mention tiring. And there's also the case where I dislike some of the critically acclaimed shows haha.
It's alright, sometimes it takes me longer than that (as you can see haha). So I apologize for these super late replies in advance! I'm usually very patient, so no worries. I don't mind continuing our convo whenever we have time.
I might start with the new adaptation too, who knows. Did you have a favourite character? As I've mentioned, I think I'll really like Luffy but the whole crew seems awesome haha.
Also, your new profile looks gorgeous <3
edit: Actually I think i read your review that how I found ur profile I just went back and i think that's how.
