Yo thanks man, anime films are awesome! And that's a good question haha. I really need to watch more connected-to-show films. One that immediately springs to mind is Night is Short, Walk on Girl. Though it's only got a loose connection to Tatami Galaxy, I'd really recommend it. Especially as you seemed to have liked Tatami (I was surprised you hadn't?). It's a great companion piece and continuation of the show's themes. It's a super easy watch too, being so succinct, energetic and light-hearted. :) The trailers great btw, to tempt you - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGHXqjCbyEQ Or a music video of it I like, that really showcases its art to some chilled beats - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqCpWu8tgRw
And these ones are cheeky because I never actually saw the main shows lol, but Liz and The Bluebird, Gantz:O and Patlabor were all amazing movies. This about sums up the energy of Patlabor - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Adno8sRTono Just cool, with that lovably nostalgic and optimistic 80s-90s vibe. Gantz:O has no joke the best 3dCGI use I've ever seen in anime, and awoke the little boy in me that just wants to see people fight super bad scary monsters with all the gore and action, and boss fights.
And Liz and the Blue Bird... is honestly just an audio-visual art piece. Definitely my favourite. By far the greatest sounding movie I've ever watched. Any fan of Naoko Yamada should absolutely watch it:) This is the opening to the movie - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQBMJLLujqc Barely anything happens or is said in those first 6 minutes, and I was immediately captivated and sold. If you have some time give it a watch with some good headphones. It's rare you get a movie that specifically focuses on communicating so much with so few words, that almost puts more effort into what is heard than what is said. It's a movie about the music of the characters.

I thought it was such an interesting and beautiful way to make a movie of two budding musicians.
