Synopsis

The final battle against the Dark Territory drags on, as players from all over the world flood the Underworld's servers and plunge the Human Empire into utter chaos. Asuna Yuuki and her friends defend their new allies with everything they have, but their numbers are falling. Meanwhile, Alice Zuberg heads toward the World's End Altar while Gabriel "Vecta" Miller relentlessly pursues her.

Meanwhile, members of Rath strategize a plan in an attempt to restore Kirito's damaged fluctlight. However, the intruders occupying the main control room have other plans. Surrounded by death and despair, when all hope seems to be lost, one voice reaches out to Kirito—a familiar one saying, "I will always be by your side."

Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld 2nd Season is the epic conclusion to Akihiko Kayaba's dream of creating artificial human intelligence. Now it is up to Kirito and his friends to protect this collapsing world from the people that still think it is just a game.

I am definitely lost, why this anime is getting so much hate from some groups. I guess just popular pieces have to face to this.

Entire SAO Alicization is really awesome anime. I won't deny it has here and there some smaller or bigger holes, however it's not a burden for this anime. You can still enjoy it and it won't just shatter your experience in 2 seconds with some total nonsense. I am not some hardcore fan of SAO myself but I liked original concept and I'll try to review, why this anime is good.

SAO Alicization continues in path made by first and second ... season with few things from movie SAO Ordinal Scale. When in 2012 original SAO season unleashed, many people like it. And then it started, with people, who actually liked it, came also people, who just needed to hate it for any cost, even though they didn't see it whole or they have to this day finished 3 or so episodes. And that's why I think the hate around this entire universe is really unreasonable.

SAO Alicization continues to provide good content to you in a way original SAO did. Basically if you like anime, if you like isekai, if you like emotions and if you like some willpower, you will like this.

Entire Alicization series are around 3 main characters - Kirito, Eugeo and Alice. And while in original Alicization we can watch path and bond between Kirito and Eugeo, War of Underworld is trying to tell story about bond between Kirito and Alice, or rather between humans and AI.

As in modern digital world, I am happy the idea was there and it has been created. It's for sure not perfect but I am confident enough to say that entire SAO Alicization has been handled really well. While main character is for sure OP as hell and entire SAO kinda stays on top of ideas like "power of friendship", "power of love" or "power of will", it's not annoying, boring or worth to be laughed at. Definition of those major perks is though different in world with AI humans. Though we don't have AGI in our world yet, the topic about it has been created very well. Anime will throw at you some ethical questions, things to think about and also positive vibe you can carry on and make your day better. You can cry with characters, laugh with them, wait for their finishing lines...

That said, if you did like SAO and you wonder whether you should watch Alicization or you wonder whether you should watch War of Underworld after Alicization, definitely go for it. It depends on your personal opinion on taste, how much you will like it, still I am sure you will be able to spot main basics elements of first SAO in more clean art, animations and with music you liked. In my opinion, it's not perfect but I was able to enjoy it. And at the end of the day, that's what matters to many people out there, if you are able to enjoy it, right?

The second part of War of Underworld is a clusterfuck of magnificent proportions. Though the main storyline is consistent, the subplots are very chaotic and constantly changing what's happening.

The story has lots of twists and turns while maintaining the goal of extracting Alice from the Underworld. Some episodes feel like collections of various deus ex machina while attempting to fit as many different characters into the episode as possible to create a big crossover. Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld 2nd Season

Well, the first part of this war was already a disappointment, but to bring this to a new level is something you didn't see coming.
Not sure how many times I joked about what we watched and what happened this season. If anyone has experience with Kingdom Hearts Writing and the Youtube Channel "Just a Pancake", that person will know what I'm getting at. This season is a pure definition of "Random Bullshit Go" "That's not even my Final Final Form" and "Okay I believe you" - these 3 memes represent the entire plot of this ... season. And having Simito fight the Anti-Miller at the end made me completely cry. How and why did one almost end in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann? What's with the ending of Alice? Why, why, why?

The ending of this war had the potential to deliver one of the BEST dramatic scenes there could be, but it was ruined and spat on while it was still on the floor. God's sake such potential and then just "Nah Timeskip".

Well, this season follows directly from the previous one and the war enters its final round. The season starts with the best and most epic battle of the whole season so far. Bercoulli not only had one of the most interesting skills seen in Shounen but also a good execution of it and a massively dynamic fight. Honestly, I was shocked at what I saw, every single moment of this fight was breathtaking. Not only visually, but also in terms of pure dynamics.
Unfortunately, this was the only standout performance of the entire season.
Right after this spectacle, the plot continues to revolve around some poorly written war that makes no sense whatsoever and feels more like the never wanted Digimon season where everyone goes to the Digiworld to fight a war. To make matters worse, the villains are endlessly overpowered, always having a new buff that makes them even stronger. Each character has a boss rush moment to show how cool they are, only for the boss to show that they are not yet defeated and get stronger again. And this drags on until Kirito-Kami-kun wakes up and... the cycle continues.

In the end, there is a final fight between Simon and the Anti Spiral and yes. I honestly don't even know what else to say about it.

I'm anything but a fan of this series, but Sword Art Online still entertained me well enough. We used to sit and watch 2-3 episodes every night while we had dinner. It was alright, nothing great, just an average show to enjoy. But with this season it became one of the best comedies out there. It's a shame really, but making fun of it also had a certain charm.
