Sugu: "Because, I'm Kirito's ... the Black Swordsman's ... little sister!"

Any normal person would say "sister". But Japanese eroticize the thought of the "little sister," so realism is irrelevant.

Look, I didn't like the episode the best either, but when you refer to a sibling in Japanese, in most cases, you're going to have to indicate whether he/she is an older or younger brother/sister. Ane (older sister), imouto (younger sister), ani (older brother) or otouto (younger brother). It might not be realistic in English, but it's perfectly fine in Japanese where how one relates to others is extremely important.

Hegar said:
And in the end ... saved by harem! The harem's love for Kirito makes him live again! I'm pretty sure Kirito's friend Klein would have some memories that could be used to put his personality back together again, like so many pieces of clay, but he's a friend and a guy, and this is all about the harem. I'm just surprised they didn't all kiss him first. Little sister included.

Klein wasn't plugged into an STL, was he? Sigh...

No idea how people can stomach these stuff. The whole thing is a mess, nothing makes sense, and the fights feels completely pointless knowing that certain overpowered shounen character is going to come in and save the day no matter what.

Nothing is pointless. The various characters are ostensibly buying time for Kirito's return. They have no idea that the people in the main control room are working on bringing Kirito back and to them, they're fighting a losing battle. Without their help, the bad guys would have won long ago. It's easy to nitpick from the perspective of a third-person omniscient observer.

Woahh, Yuna and Eiji are coming!

Eiji and PoH's battle animation is really good, and we are shown PoH's past, so PoH stands for Prince of Hell.

hmmm ... looks like Kirito will be wake up.
Who are these two new characters? Are they from the SAO movie?

Well, with this episode, the movie is a must watch to understand Yuuna and Eiji scenes but I just realize that its just filler. Looks like the episode was more gore than usual especially that Leafa scene, damn, so brutal.

It's four weeks of continuous torture porn. Everything is a disaster, what the hell is even happening?

When I saw Eiji I was like "Who?" then Yuna entered, then I realized they were from Ordinal Scale. You put up a fight and bought some time so good for you.

Lol what's the backstory for? No one's gonna sympathize with a serial killer especially with a motive like that. You saved a life, why be fucking racist? PoH is a massive bitch and no one can change that.

Imagine getting a jumpscare from a wrench and falling to your death, what an idiot and absolute beta.

Everything is cliche right now and I don't like it. But I like Leafa being best girl right now. +1

You mean they have been trying to explain something that doesn't make sense, right?

So they are going to use this "object" and "subject" to bring back Kirito from the memories of his close ones, I don't think that would actually work for a good and deep character but since Kirito is superficial I guess it might work.

I have no idea how I feel about this episode.

Eiji making an appearance was fine and all, however, Yuna was a stretch. Yui noticing the connection from SAO, at first I thought it was foreshadowing Kayaba, but confused now if it's related to Kayaba or Eiji because Eiji was there since the start of the war, no idea why a new connection would suddenly appear. Honestly, Eiji vs PoH felt extremely unnecessary, I wish they'd save the time and effort for important battles, as if any of the climax scenes look anything like Eiji vs PoH, I'll be sorely disappointed at the very least.

I have no idea wtf happened to Yanai... Apparently Leafa getting skewered through the skull is fine, but a wrench hitting a man in the forehead isn't? Or is the studio so strained, animating a wrench smacking Yanai in the skull is out of the question... (LN: The wrench hit Yanai leading him to fall off, Anime: He got spooked from a falling wrench so bad he fell off on his own?)

At the very least, I'm not disappointed with any of Leafa's scenes. Although it's more or less faithful, personally, I wish they'd toned down her 'laser' and reorganized the scenes for the anime's sake. It was visually depicted that she healed herself, then she begins to cough up blood in the next scene... Same with her asking if she put up a good fight. Since the scenes aren't cutting to and from, it looks like she says she won't go down, then gives up a few minutes later. Though, at the very least, Leafa didn't get the Stacia Asuna treatment. I genuinely wasn't expecting them to animate Leafa getting impaled in the head so props there Ig.

Sinon's incarnation. Just as bad? as last week's episode. More like a domino effect from failing to explain incarnation, though, if they were going to make up an entire Eiji vs PoH scene, they might as well have made up some Yui or someone explaining incarnation scene.

PoH's backstory... At least they had one...

Tbh, I really don't know if I'd have this many problems if the art didn't go from glorified to understaffed naruto, literally between scenes. The story isn't so bad that it's falling apart, but definitely suffering due to previous episodes and continuous changes. Honestly, there's so many cuts from the original ln, I'm just gonna decide that I'm not really for Eiji and Yuna's appearance. With the screentime Eiji and Yuna did have this episode, there were countless other scenes that should have been prioritized. (Like Stacia Asuna)

Eiji and Yuna probably won't ever make another appearance and if they do, they won't have any sort of affect on the overall plot just like in this episode. I'm genuinely confused on who decided this or OK'd it tbh, it introduces more questions than it answers, and since it strays so far from the LN, there probably won't ever be any answers...

And Jesus Christ, wtf was that whole PoH mass incarnation mind control scene. Like it's to the point I don't understand even though I read the novels.

3.5/5 - Still more or less entertaining, just 'could be done better'. Frustratingly so.

Let me just say the pros:
The music was very good this episode
The visuals and fighting was pretty good.
I enjoyed that a character actually bites his opponent, gotta use whatever means possible

Cons:
WHY THE FUCK ARE THESE TWO BITCHES BACK FROM ORDINAL SCALE? You are right, Yuna isn't really a bitch but why did these two even come into this whole mess. And why the fuck Enji be like "Ha, you don't remember because I was weak" and then transforms into the blood oath outfit. Why do you people have to transform into your outfits again?
MMMM, yes, these two Korean gamers just used as observation devices within the red army, nothing special about them, we probably could have covered their faces and still be fine.
"Ah, Kirito, I am on th verge of death. Oh my, that bullet traveled to the one spot that would instantly protect me which is the FUCKING NECKLACE you gave me" Not saying items can not protect people from bullets but seriously, the show had to focus its attention to this.
Also, Leafa, whats with the cheesy lines. "I...am... the Black Swordsman...little sister!!!!!" No one asked the fuck who you were. Granted, we did forget how you were connected to kirito besides the fact you in his rejected harem.

The way that Yanai lost his balance and fell to his death actually made me laugh. What an embarrassing way for a scumbag like him to perish. XD

Either way, this episode still kept up some really nice battles. Eiji and Yuna's appearance was a surprise, although a bit random, but I welcome'd it as they both gave it their best against PoH, but their efforts was sadly in vain. =(

PoH's backstory felt a little rushed and incomplete, but it did enough to show why he came to hate the Japanese.

Sinon and Leafa held their own in their respective battles. I thought Sinon losing both of her feet was a bit painful, but that was nothing compared to Leafa getting and bloody spear to her face, taking out her left eye. Now THAT was painful to watch, although her recovery skills is formidable.

Kirito is now starting to wake up at last. I do look forward to seeing him up again and ready to help out his friends once more. =)

Well that was quite something, I got hyped as fuck when Yuna started singing, that was my favorite song in the movie! And the animation that came with it with Eiji V PoH, bloody hell from a visual standpoint this was amazing even by SAO standards, then again the blue haired captain that was voiced by Archer from FSN had amazing animation during his fights with the army dude too.. ayt I feel bad for not remembering their names now lol.
Anyways this was an original right? At least thats what the LN readers are saying, makes sense tbh, the timing was too weird, why only appear now lol.
Anyways consistent narrative aside... this was a solid 9/10 in terms of OST and visuals. Story telling was so poor tho.

I've been enjoying the previous two seasons a lot more than the first two, but holy hell this season just keeps getting worse.

I am on the same page. Alicization with the strong mystery vibe was great and the writing was over long parts excellent, but this is becoming more and more of a train wreck. Every previous arc and every character in existence gets shoved in this battle. The story telling is full tropes and deus ex machinas without end. I would not even doubt that Kayaba saves everybody again without saying a word.

And yes, seeing Kirito get kicked around was oddly satisfying. Too bad PoH will die soon after, let me guess, having reconciled with his half-brother and having overcome his hate for the Japanese.

Let me explain a few things the anime won't bother to explain.

Vassago was forced to donate his kidney for his brother but on the condition that he gets to visit Japan. There he got to know there are strict foreign adaption laws and hence he didn't get any citizenship. So while he had to spend his days in hiding, he was treated awfully by the Japanese. Way more awfully than his own country's people ever treated him. There he was taken in by a Korean crime syndicate where he was raised to be a hitman. He didn't enter SAO only to kill the Japanese. He was given the Nerve Gear by the syndicate to kill some people in exchange for a hectic sum. So when he entered SAO and saw the people, he got reminded of his parents and how he suffered his entire life. Hence he started killing people as he started condemning everyone.

Then the power of incarnation.

Incarnation (心意, Shin'i?) refers to a secretive art within the Underworld which enables an individual or group to alter the state of the world through imagination and will. It is a skill passed down to Integrity Knights since ancient times. However, only several Integrity Knights are able to use this skill.

Sinon had used the power of incarnation to save herself in the last episode. Now she used it again to shoot that last shot. Kirito didn't give her the necklace. He doesn't even know that it exists. Lol. She herself picked it up when he fell it. She basically believes in it so much that it incarnated to save her day twice. She even told "The power of imagination" this episode. Lol. Just explain incarnation. Lmao

Even that thing that Subtilizer is standing on is an incarnation. So basically you have to pretend every asspull you see is an incarnation cause A1 has pledged that they'll never explain it!

And technically it is "power of friendship" that'll wake Kirito but unlike something out of Fairy Tail it makes complete sense as his fluctlight is being manually connected with 3 other fluctlights he is most aquainted with.
Well I get PoH's hate for Japanese. The anime provides such a lame explanation.I don't even know about the Recarnation stuff. In the show it looks like anybody can do anything. It is never explained in the show.I don't know how to feel about the show anymore. It's just cool fights and nothing more.I just want Kirito to wake up and end this war.A-1 may provide sick animation but they are clearly leaving out some important bits.

Well incarnation was explained pretty well back in Alicization(in the first 24 episodes) I don't know how can you miss it. But if you are still wondering about how it all works watch this video.

I don't think why you think it'll not work. It's a sci-fi anime in which the STL works through human fluctlights. When we connect the fluctlights of the closest people to Kirito with his own fluctlight, it'll give consciousness to only a part of his self that their fluctlights are aware of. Then basically Kirito has to awaken himself on his own. It isn't a full proof plan. It can easily fail. But basically it's their last choice. Next episode will make it more clear probably.

A lot of people are wondering about why Yui didn't log into the underworld but YUNA did. Well Reki Kawahara just answered that question in his twitter account.

The reason for Yui not being able to log into Underworld is because
1) She does not have a Fluctlight
2) She does not possess a Player Avatar to convert.

The existence of YUNA however is tied to the player avatar back in SAO, which is why the connection from the SAO Server happened.

YUNA still having a pseudo-Chant skill is accomplished by her equipment, the microphone she brings along.

There is a really really really huge difference between a character with self buff and a character with a support´s buff and Eiji was buffed by Yuna and even with that huge advantage he lost the battle ROFLMAO.

The most stupid fight by far in this season

You sound like an ignorant when others already have said that they were anime original scene.
I'm pretty sure the LN were supposed to be Kirito vs PoH after the tortured of whatever people said was cut. Eiji wasn't there to begin with so if he win the fight, that would greatly affected plot and went into a different direction from the LN. It's not his battle and he's just a cameo.
The fight must be Kirito vs PoH, I know that but that's why Eiji's fight has no sense. He didn do anything to help the plot. He was supposed to be a great warrior saving the day and leting PoH at least wounded bc he come into the battle in a mist of mistery and with sound track and all. Thats what is caledl "dramatism" but he was garbage. An orc could do the same he did and that would not change the plot. In conlussion, his appereance was usseless and tha show your Ignorance about dramatism and literary tools (bc this is a anime but is an story too)

The moment of Kirito's reawakening is so close and I can't wait! I've missed him through Alicization: War of Underworld!

Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood. inb4 "u mad bro" but yes this 2D Korean cartoon has rustles my jimmies.

This episode uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh blew to put it in PG language.

That scene with the ordinal scale characters was pointless to put it mildly. They accomplished nothing and just served as another example of SAO not following its own rules (Incarnation)

The irl scene with the former tentacle monster traitor guy really felt like Reki just didn't know how to end that subplot so a wrench landing on the platform literally startled him so bad that he stumbled off and died without even blind firing another shot lol

The continuation of normal GGO user account beating the poopoo out of an Underworld god tier account was actually overshadowed this weak despite how dumb Shino has become lately.

Because for some reason Leafa has become just bad at using swords. Like, unless she just decided she can tank the hits and doesn't need to dodge but in that case the show really should've communicated it.

Also PoH's backstory was amazingly bad. First off, he doesn't need a backstory. No one cares about him. You had zero chance of giving him redeeming features and it's just another lazy way to introduce more anti-Japanese racism for Reki to rail against. Which is weirdly the only part of his backstory that A1 kept intact aside from his charitable donation.

Thank god there's no episode next week.

I totally forgot about Recon.
Where is he? Where the hell is he?
I asked someone and heard he joined one of Sakuya's Sylph forces during Mother's Rosario.
And then the last time I saw him was in Ordinal Scale movie, he was looking for "Leafa-chan" inside GGO of all places and he got broadcast on TV while his avatar was still ALO's Sylph appearance. Never heard from him again ever since.

PoH's asspull incarnation (this term is perfect)

(from Reddit): Shino wears the heart monitor thingy that blocked Shinkawa's injection in Phantom Bullet as a necklace.

Eiji was fighting togheter since all the japanese gang arrived, and YUNA turned into a kind of AI ghost that inhabits the old SAO/Aincrad server which was not shut down or sealed from internet for some reason (maybe the same reason why future Japan allowed a company to sell VR devices that can burn your brain or erase your memories).

THIS! (Is gonna be a long one)
THIS is what I want to see more of in Sword Art Online. This episode had STAKES!
While I am still not a fan of Vassago's character and the fact that its all come down to Laughing Coffin... AGAIN!
This episode really sold me on hating him the way im meant to, not because he's not been developed, but because he is despicable and a downright terrifying villain. (Still think Administrator was a better villain).
The level of blood and gore in the episode was great and exactly what I want to see. SAO has always been about when the game becomes too real, and this episode made me completely forget they where all in a virtual world, this episode made me think all these characters were dying for real (Which is sold by the fact the Underworldians are most at risk as they will actually die). What really impressed me was Leafa's final stand and that spear that came out of nowhere... like WOW! That was some really cool scenes and followed up with that?! (Clap, clap).
As a massive fan of the Mothers Rosario Arc and Yuuki being my favourite SAO character, I am SO HAPPY her death isnt being forgotten and this episode stabbed me in the feels when Suine got stabbed after trying to resolve the battle.

Everything felt completely hopeless until Eiji and YUNA swooped in. This scene had me speechless. Not only am I a massive fan of Ordinal Scale, the stakes and emotion up to this point kept me from remembering Ordinal Scale was anime original content, thus Eiji and Yuna couldnt possibly win, but this scene was amazing and what a great cap to Eiji's character. I dont expect him to show up again after this, so having his chance to finally beat back against laughing coffin and prove himself after all he suffered in Aincrad was amazing.

Im not a fan of Kirito. In fact I kinda hate him. SAO up to this point has always been at its best when he is not the main character in my opinion but damn, am I hyped for him to finally wake up. Next episode I hope is gonna deeply delve into Kirito's psyche and feature Eugeo in a big way. Eugeo has been one of the most impressive characters in this franchise and far exceeded my expectations so I am hyped for a hopeful appearance next week.

More of this PLEASE! It seems my worry about Laughing Coffin being back again might be misplaced if they can develop Vassago a bit more because currently being racist against Japanese for a really stupid reason isnt doing it for me, but everything else was a big YES

That episode was amazing. Sword Art is putting out some seriously good episodes. Eiji and Yuna, were they from Ordinal Scale? I can't remember but I loved the idol singing scene, so epic.

Shit is about to get real with Kirito's reanimation. Can't wait.

Jesus that spear in Leafa's eye made me jerk my head, now my neck hurts. Leafa best girl right now. She is so badass. Also I miss Eugeo so bad, I'm glad we got to hear his voice at the end.

What's with Sinon, giving up so easilly. How many times does she have to be saved by Kirito's necklace, in order to resolve to fight some more? Leafa looked like such a badass fighting and regenerating over and over (that spear thrown into her eye looked really painful). Reminded me of Zeno from Akatsuki no Yona. <3 I kinda like Leafa more now. And I like Sinon less now. Looks like Subtilizer has had enough of fighting Sinon and is going after Alice again.

Not gonna lie, I agree with you. I would always switch between Leafa and Sinon for favorite SAO girl for the longest time but Sinon's character development seems to be going backwards?? I understand she will always have underlying trauma but like..

When the opening vocal chorus to “Longing” began, the emotion welled up and goosebumps covered me! A second wave hit when Yuuna (CV:Kanda-san) joined the chorus. Bravo SAO staff!

Eiji and Yuuna vs meathead serial killer was probably one of the more interesting moments so far in this series, alongside Bercouli vs the blonde asshole.

Soo there's one thing this episode does bring up, seeing how PoH/Vasago got into SAO he must have had a complaintance feeding his body in the real world because otherwise he would have starved like many of the other SAO players, just a thought that came into my head, don't know if there's an official answer as to who this would have been

I really agree with this I just think that plot armor protected him
