Two hardcore hack and slash shows. While Berserk is most likely more on the "darker" side of the two, both are still definitely a guy's "beat the crap out of them" type of show. Brutal, but each has a touch of emotion here and there.

Pain and sorrow are felt in both series however they are not on the same caliber. Fighting for a better future, teamwork, sacrifice are all shallow similarities. 'Claymore' has a wide range of characters with dark past which you will feel sorry for whether they are friend or foe, it shows you the hardship of characters who only fight for themselves but in time come to terms with close friendship thus fight for one and another. 'Shingeki no Kyojin' excels in its epic twists and turns where you cannot trust anyone even in your own team. You will constantly be wondering about the next death or who  read more

Well, the main storyline is more or less different, but the way the characters are drawn very similarly, as well as action scenes and blood. Also Blood+ is a dark anime and so is Claymore, so it would be good for those who like/love dark anime (sorry for stating the obvious...). Anyway both of them have very deep story-lines so I thought that people who like Blood+ would like this, because I think of Claymore when I think of Blood+.

These anime are very similar in ther blood content. Each are rich with blood and body parts. Also have relatively sad stories.

Both have a group of people or beings that are dedicated to disposing a certain group of evil. They both have a really nice storyline.

Similar concept in that Claymores/Exorcists are hired/sent to destroy monsters that's been terrorizing the town (Youma/Akuma), and that these monsters can take the form of any human.

Like Shirou, Raki finds himself with a powerful and attractive female warrior. They both come to realize their harsh realities and even develop deep feelings for them while finding out their history and their inevitable dark fates.

Both have human turned monsters, and they eat humans. Both have have organization specialize in killing them Both main chars' family/loved one are killed by monsters, thus making them to join the organization Both main characters travel around wherever the missions lead them

Both Bloody gory pieces of magnificence Both have a mythical creature/ability (Claymore - Youma, Tokyo Ghoul - Ghouls) Both have horror with some mystery Both have a protagonist faced with those creatures and insane abilities Both have a dark ambiance and atmosphere

They gonne berserk and kill demons. And very bad past

Claymore is also an anime about magical female-fighters, making moral decisions on their way to find purpose in the life. Before you decide to watch it: characters are a bit mature (mostly young women), mood of the series is more serious and there is some violence, too.
report Recommended by Trzynastka
Violent and bloody shows, where the main characters have to fights against many monsters and powerful villains. There is an ascending progression of the plot, with many epic moments, great battles and incredible twists.

both bloody but yet VERY good anime!!

Both have badass female leads, young male companions, forsaken heroes, awesome action sequences, and historical/fantasy setting. Good character development too, so the fights have more tension because you really care about the characters doing the fighting.

The main character is a swordswoman, who has the task of defend humans by killing monsters. The main character has important links with those monsters. The shows provide an high level of violence and gore, with a plot full of twists.

Girls that has been somehow modified to fight monsters. Quite similiar if you ask me.

Awesome battles with a very nice and mature history like Fate/zero

In both of them, there are a threat for humanity that only girl/women half part human can eradicate. Girls are not considered like human and have visible characteristics (eye e.g.)

Both are about some demons and demon parasites that change the human body and give super powers. In Claymore you see almost the same type of awekening, when the demon takes control.

Although both series takes places at different settings, Claymore and Witchblade definitely has some similarities. For instance, both series has strong female characters who are literally weapons and has powers beyond those of a normal human. Both series explores the identities, themes, and histories of some of these characters throughout the series. Both series features plenty of action, drama, and also has violence involving gore. Both series has a darker side to its plot as the episodes progresses that shows more emotions. Both series' main female protagonist also has a strong will and is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve her goals and ambitions.

Claymore follows a group of emotionally nulled women; violence, blood, gore, honor, and superhuman abilities cause an exceptional amount of reactions from viewers. Both stories have similarities not only among weapons, but revenge, hatred, and a strange moral agreement between the authors. Hidden symbolism plague both stories, teasing that not only increases heart rates but emotions of shock and disturbance. Don't close your eyes for these series, missing a moment of gore, means more than just a passing moment of disgust.

In Gantz you also see a group of people fighting ferocious aliens (well this time without any known reason, the aliens are actualy peacefull until someone attack them). Most important of all you get to see how the main character fights until he reaches his limits and tries to become even stronger, faster ...

Swordsmans fight against demons, who mask behind casual people. Violence, dark fantasy atmosphere and other similar nuances. And overall feeling Garo remind me Claymore.

They both contain large amounts of blood and killing.

Female warriors kicking butt. Secret organisations and mysterious non-human enemies. Claymore is set in a medieval word, Freezing in the (near) future and has lots of fanservice.
report Recommended by Crochax
Both shows feature a cast mostly composed by women fighting "monsters"; on Claymore, women are ranked by power, on Land of the Lustrous by hardness and role; the main character seems to be the weakest one; the male figure is the leader. As the story progress, the main character starts to question the leader, and the purpose and reason behind fighting the monsters. Notice that the animation is different, Land of the Lustrous is CGI, and Claymore is way more violent. But I definitely recommend both.

Long time after they both anime are seen plain names of warrior girls - Miria, Deneve, Galatea, Chris, Jill, Vivian - will resonate in your heart.

Both shows have "organizations" that focus on female experiments to do "work" for them. Both shows are extremely bloody and divide their female characters by "ranks", Claymore numerically, and Brynhildr alphabetically. However, Claymore is more of a hack and slash anime in a medieval setting, while Byrnhildr is in a modern setting.

Both main charcthers are women who have suddenly acquired a supernatural ability that helps them with their job, which is killing, and the male leads in both series are pretty much useless. Both have action in them that usually is with the main charcther having to fight against a large group, and both can be dark but where Canaan is only dark a minority of the time,Claymore is dark pretty much the whole series with nothing to lighten up the mood.

Well, these both anime has a creatures seems as a normal human but actually they're a monster that disguise as a human (Yoma in Claymore and Parasyte in Kiseijuu). (sorry, bad english) And then, the MC in these both series are a half-human and half-monster which in Claymore some people are like that too. Both series are have a Violence, Gore, and Horror inside which Claymore is most likely very very darker and more gore than Kiseijuu .. Yeah, if you like the one,you will like the others ...

Both main characters are half-demon and half-human. Clare saves and starts living with a boy while Dante saves a little girl who starts living with him. They are contracted to fight against yomas/demons.

Both are gory and bloody. Mnemosyne probably is more bloody and has as well some elements that Claymore doesn't, like the often use of tortures and very strong sexual themes and lastly the continous nudity. Now the main simlarity lays in the female-main characters aspect. In Claymore only females can manage to supress their inside Yoki (spiritual energy) in order to stop their transformation into a Yoma (demon) while the males, wich have a more strong sexual instict, can't do it correctly and, at some point, end up becoming "awakened beings". Both anime have strong willed supernatural characters that has to rid the world of their own kind (in Claymore, its demons rather then undeads). Both feature the main characters "employed" by a larger organization and both has respective handlers for each fighter.
report Recommended by ricedout
Both series feature an upward scramble for power, and an exponential increase in challenges for the main characters. Though Claymore lacks the puzzle-solving element of Hunter x Hunter, the process of developing "special techniques" is similarly fun to watch in both series. If you enjoy the over-the-top action and intense situations of one, you'll definitely enjoy the other.
report Recommended by naikou
Each series centers around an orphaned female protagonist, who is learning to develop her supernatural power, while fighting "monsters." Similarly, they both work for a mysterious organization which may or may not have their best intentions in mind. There is more action in Claymore, but overall the pacing of the plot development is similar.

Within the anime community, Bastard‼ and Claymore are considered dark fantasy series, in which dark refers to violence and/or atmosphere. Within the literary fantasy community, both series would be better described as part of the sword and sorcery subgenre. Claymore is definitely a better anime than Bastard‼, which wastes no opportunity to include ecchi content. That being said, some Claymore fans might enjoy Bastard‼ for its trashy qualities.

Mature series that envoke an unsettling feeling with the use of casual gore while still being able to hook you with the mystery aspects.

-Both main characters want to fulfill the promise they made as youth -Titles given due the weapons they carry (Claymore for Claymore sword, and Gravekeeper for the shovel they carry) -The dead are detested like the Claymores are detested.

(EDIT: only 1 rec ;)) Shows with similar art styles, similar environments, similar vibes, similar characters, similar plots, similar pacing. A.k.A... Very similar shows. Both involve a hardened blonde female lead going around killing monsters in order to achieve their own mission but also to protect their young male comrad. The relationships in both shows also develop in similar ways as our hardened female protag learn about love, friendship and becoming vulnerable because of that growth. Setting is also in a period of dark ages that people live by the sword. The evil dark forces are very similar to Berserk, a bloody and seemingly hopeless waste.

After watching both Claymore and FF7, I saw similarities in both series as both are set in fantasy setting with hack and slash action (sword fights). Clare and Cloud once experienced a tragic past where they lost their dear mentor (Teresa and Zack) and after that, they decided to take over their mantle on a journey where they hunt down their mortal enemies (Priscilla and Sephiroth). FF7 and Claymore have high quality animation with good sound effects, dialogue, and action and you will be amazed once you check either of them out.

If you are big into sword fighting anime, this is another great addition for you to watch and trust me it is as good as Claymore. Sword Of The Stranger and Claymore both have a main character whose past is tragic only to end up with a sidekick who is a young boy and has a major role later on. They're both set in a setting (Sword Of The Stranger-Feudal and Claymore-Medieval) with fantasy elements. Both have great sword fights, gore, dialogue, development, and good story.

Sven and Clare lost their parents to their hated enemy to vow revenge only to end up having a small change to their perspective by a secondary character. CE 73 Stargazer is a short series but it has what has common with Claymore: Fighting for an organization to exterminate species only to realize how messed up they are.
report Recommended by SlaughterDagger
00 2nd season's duo Setsuna and Saji are just like Clare and Raki. Saji lost his sister and Raki lost his brother and uncle in the show only to lead them to team up with Setsuna and Clare who are stoic. Similar conclusions but action packed as well.
report Recommended by SlaughterDagger
Action packed and story crazy at the same time with an awesome team in each show! Soundtrack in Claymore is incomparable except that some osts in 5ds are alike. Stoic protagonists must fight in order to change and develop.

The more important characters in the cast are females who have very strong personalities and can fight and protect themselves very well. Both of them take place in eras similar to the dark ages or the middle ages.
report Recommended by emolr
Although these two series take place in very different worlds, they are both shows packed with emotional, powerful storylines and plenty of action (though Claymore is more bloody). The concepts behind the stories are also different, but both are attention-grabbing, intense, and entertaining. If you enjoyed the quality of the story in one, you should enjoy the other.
report Recommended by SlaughterDagger
Both shows deal with monsters who seek to kill humans. The main difference is that in Claymore, there is an organization to kill the monsters. I guess the main reason I think they are similar is the general creepy feel they both give. I would definitely recommend both if creepy horror anime are your thing.
report Recommended by Hamaneko
The main character is monster hunter and is not human too. Both anime have a dark atmosphere and violance scenes.

They are close in concept where someone gets introduced to a society that hides their true goal and gets instructed to carry out jobs if they don't want to become useless/be considered traitors, sometimes said jobs aren't even adequate for the level of skill our characters have. As well as having this feeling of dread as we know many characters may die in any second and expecting our main character to exceed their limits once more. Demons in CSM act similar to the Yoma from Claymore in the sense that both differ from your redemptive villains as they just outright look at humans as inferior beings  read more

Both take place on a fictional world filled with partially humans and partially different beings (Demons in Claymore and Robots in Casshern Sins). Both Casshern and Clare seek a purpose of their life by fighting in an episodic fashion as they meet allies and enemies alike. Madhouse produced both shows with high caliber quality and music.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both shows revolve around a group of warriors who fight enigmatic creatures prone to preying on humanity. The heroines (Shana and Clare) are introduced as cold warriors who prioritize their duties over protecting the innocent but after meeting a weak but kind human boy (Yuuji and Raki) they defrost and become more heroic. Both shows are also quite dark in tone, though "Claymore" is definitely the darker of the two.

There's a lot in common. BOTH main characters have super powers; BOTH series occur during middle ages or the so called "medieval"; BOTH include the middle ages commerce and travelling between villages; BOTH have kind of a "dark" art/ambience; BOTH have that little "impossible" romance between a human and a non-human.

Corrupt organization. Warriors with strict rules and some kind of virus they have to watch out for.

The similarities include the story, and the characters who become stronger over time. The difference is that claymore is a little more bloody and the characters are far more independent.

Both anime has 1. interesting character dynamics. Sometimes people in the same group might have different motivation, and how that creates tension. 2. cool action scenes 3. serious story

Both shows have beings turning into beasts. Only difference is that Claymore is darker and demonic whereas Rockman.EXE is light hearted and casual friendly to all viewers.
report Recommended by WingZeroRequiem
Both of these series have a lead character that holds their feelings back, even though so much is happening to them. Although there isn't any romance in claymore, you will really learn to feel for claire they way you do for Kenshin. It's the classic story of a lone warrior finding companionship. Plus, the fighting, storyline, and character development is amazing. These two anime have a lot in common, but intense action scenes are where they are most similar. This is a must watch for any fan of Rurouni Kenshin Tsuiokuhen.

What both these series have in common: 1. Take place in dangerous worlds full of man-eating "demons" 2. Have a brave female lead 3. Small setting hidden from the "outside world" 4. Have humans rebelling against the demons 5. Western-like setting

SIMILARITIES: - Both are dark fantasy tales with badass characters. - Each contains over the top gore and epic sword fights in a medieval setting. - Similar animation style, especially with the characters and their 'eyes.' - Monster designs are identical. Yoma/Dragons/Winged Beasts/Claymore/Elves. - Both contain a heavy metal opening as well as a similar soundtrack. - Both series also have awesome female warriors. DIFFERENCES: - Drifters has more of a modern twist. - There are guns, explosions, cowboys and even a pilot from WW2. - Japanese influences including Samurai and Ninja. - Drifters has comedy relief. Claymore does not.

There is a strong relation between the Claymores and the Ronin Warriors. Each are super-human warriors, and a hierarchy in power. Also, in each show, there is a human that becomes connected to the warriors. Both the Ronin Warriors and the Claymores each have a unique power or ability.

In terms of religious belief, it is very similar. In Claymore, the Silver-Eyed Witches who are the saviors of humanity are considered the same as the enemy demons by the civilians, whereas in Blassreiter, Joseph the Blue Demoniac is considered the same as the berserk Demoniacs by Team XAT. Thus, there is a clear relation between Clair of Claymore and Joseph of Blassreiter. Aside from that, the battle scenes are also very similar, except that Blassreiter features CG in some of the scenes, whereas it does not occur in Claymore.

Both series have very intense fighting scenes, murdering monsters and main characters with a hysterical (superhuman) strength. Apart from that, there is a lot of drama, betrayal, action and existential questioning. Claymore has only girls fighters in a medieval fantasy setting. While Kabaneri (turned monsters) are usually women (in the plot at least), the main character is a man and their universe is steam-punk feudal Japan like. However, the most familiarity of both of these epic series is in their vibe / atmosphere, which I found very similar. In both these animes, the protagonist is a female who is hunting demons (or Yoma's in claymore) to keep the world at peace. When Soul Eater goes into the main plot it resembles a lot that of style of Claymore (relatively dark).

They both involve (to differing extents, though) fights between girls that are ranked in terms of fighting power. In both series, girls have different powers. Its different because Sekirei seems to focus less on the fights and more on harem/comedy elements. In contrast, the general tone of 'Claymore' is solemn.

Queen's Blade and Claymore are very similar. Although, if you scare a lot of ecchi, you can skip the Queen's Blade. In this fantasy anime has an interesting plot, beautiful heroines, their fate and the heavy drama. Many of them are similar to each other. Reina from Queen's Blade is similar to Claire of Claymore, Ophelia Echidna relatives. Also you will find many other beautiful heroines! If you're a fan of the world of sword and sorcery, don't miss this anime!

Although one is medieval fantasy(Claymore) while another one is Virtual Reality(SaO), they both in fact have some common elements: Medieval looking world. Monster Killing and hunting, a lot of it... Encountering enemy that is overpowered and can only be defeated in a group In fact SoA could learn a lot from Claymore, the battles in Claymore are much more intense, while the Claymores themselves use special abilities that are spectacular...

If you were a fan of Basilisk, and feel like you want a new Anime experience, try out Claymore! Blood: The Last Vampire and Claymore have similar stories using different genres. Saya (Blood: The Last Vampire) is a slayer who kills shapeshifting monsters that prey on humans. Clare (Claymore) is a warrior who kills shapeshifting demons that prey on humans. Both characters are stoic and lethal girls who are not human but fight to protect humans. Blood: The Last Vampire may be a short movie, but you will still find most of the elements that made Claymore interesting.
