I agree with you about Masako Nozawa's Goku making DB hard to watch for me i've always preferred DB in Dub because i grew up with the Dub.

Also people tend to say the same about naruto shippuuden and they are absolutely notorious for ruining an adaptation with filler padding, pacing issues, even contradictions of the main canon story, but my god did they make up for it with the finale. The Very last battle that was depicted in the manga was just almost mad house levels of quality. I was simply blown away by it. So you know when a studio is motivated and hires there top animators for the project, they can do a series justice. But yeah in most cases its definitely not something that is consistently good throughout the entire show.

Unless you have studio's that treat projects with a high level of ambition like White fox or Ufutable :p

Well some of them are musical numbers with a great degree of choreography and animation, its like attune to watching something like Disney or fantasia play out before you. Obviously a musical number is going to sound so much greater with animation, music and production visuals behind it. There is a specific event also in the end of the first half of the series that is just amazing because of the kind of music and animation involved that just elevates it to a higher level then the manga.

Obviously this goes with out saying but certain events in a series have a greater impact when watching, rather then reading depending upon various factors like music and production quality thats my personal opinion about it but then again with my preferences i am more of an anime watcher then a manga reader.

But i reckon after reading the manga, you will probably be intrigued to see what they look like in anime form.

Well i would advise against that, the dressrosa arc is known for being pretty draggy but recently the studio has really been trying to deliver quality content. There is more then a handful of great moments in the series that i can name where the anime has actually done better then the manga. So what i would personally recommend is to read the manga after the 1st half of the story like you said you were going to do but also try and seek out the moments in the anime where the studio did the canon material justice just to see the differences. Though you do have a long ways before you have to worry about that but i would definitely consider it.

Why would you only watch untill episode 517 of one piece. The Major parts of the story are obviously going to be in the 2nd half.
