Yeah exactly, even by monthly calculation it should be more. So it's probably an irregular publication. :c

I inadvertently picked up a whole of shows this season, like 6 which is a lot for me lol. I'm always up for a nice fantasy, but you probably know my qualms about them. I'm prepared to watch a couple eps though because I tentatively like the concept of Kujira. The rest however...probably not my cup of tea, but I might look out for Inuyashiki after it airs. Are you watching/liking any of the others from my list?

EDIT: Ok so I watched the first 2 eps of Kujira and I do like the premise a lot, there's potential for nice worldbuilding there. But I'm not too sure about the plot which seems to be moving in a typical 'clash between humanity' type of direction, and the characters whom I don't find very appealing (one too many tropes: the emotionless girl, angsty rebel, a lovesick martyr etc). I think I shall watch the 3rd episode to decide whether to continue or drop it maybe until it ends.

Also I (finally) finished 3-gatsu no Lion, and even though I was kind of getting bored of the first couple of episodes back then, I ended up really liking it! So much so that I wish the manga - or at least the second season - was already complete! >o< Have you watched it?

Yeah, I had a cursory look (avoiding spoilers) but there's juuust enough for a second cour. Even that'd be cutting it close and might force them to create some sort of weird ending - which I don't want! I'm happy to wait it out as long as there's a promise of a sequel!!! But I feel like the manga doesn't update on regular intervals or something which is why there's only about 40 chapters out in 5 years. (It's too few, right??)

So what are you watching this season? Any fall series worth focusing on? The only one I've actually been really looking forward to for a while is Hoozuki no Reitetsu's second season. It was such a quirky and fun comedy, I enjoyed s1 a lot when it was airing a few years back. ^v^

OH AND!! Natsume Yuujinchou is getting a movie!?!?!! That's so amazing we're so blessed with the amount of Natsume content recently! better not jinx it :'D

P.S. Good luck with your exams! c:

I just finished both Made in Abyss and the Uchuu Kyoudai movie today! And caught up with Kingdom!! Now I'm a bundle of emotions!!!

So firstly, Abyss. Even 12 episodes later, this anime managed to surprise and delight and at times horrify me with its fantastic worldbuilding! (I just won't get over this aspect ok?? It almost makes me want to jump in the Abyss myself and look for adventure!) I'd been waiting for the new character, Nanachi, whom I thought might be something like Reg, not an ex-human. And now, just when the 'real' adventure seems about to start the show wraps up! I was totally wrong when I thought it'd be a neat little 1-cour anime, but as the story progressed it became clear this season merely scratched the surface. It's so exasperating when mediocre shows like Youkai Apartment (it lost its novelty) and Ballroom continue on making themselves a weekly chore, and a truly intriguing story is cut short. Perhaps there's not enough material, although the manga has been around for 5 years... I just hope we get sequels!! >△<

Onto the movie, I have to say it was much more emotional than I expected! Yet it actually explored some of the very things I was curious about - like Brian and Hibito's relationship (without flashbacks) and how Mutta won that car competition! I love how the story was written, with all the symbolism and a sense of coming full circle. It has made me really want to rewatch... watch the live-action movie as well, so let me know when you're up for it! :D

I'm not sure if you're up to date with Kingdom so I won't say much but it's been getting so intense! The large-scale battles on several fronts and Riboku's involvement again, it's all giving me Coalition Arc vibes!!

Yes of course! Actually, I just found the 'Number 0' anime movie fiiinally subbed as well, so really looking forward to watching that first! You've already watched it, I think?

I actually love winter but I will never again be so flippant about catching a cold what with my prolonged indisposition...glad to hear you dodged it!

Btw I've been planning to watch The King's Avatar for a while, you subbed that didn't you? (Which is rather cool!) From your efforts, I take it you found it very enjoyable? Let me know if there's a good place to watch/download it.
fullmetalbender Sep 2, 8:12 PM
Ugh I'm so sorry I haven't been around and we were supposed to do the watching yesterday. >_<
But between being sick and family stuff going on I just couldn't conjure up the time and energy. Let's postpone it for a bit? :c
I hope you're faring better? It's summer there isn't it? Not cold and cough season like over here...
fullmetalbender Aug 29, 9:11 PM
Nah, I'm not really familiar with that stuff so I wouldn't know. Both of those sound usable, let's go with whichever you recommend? :D
I'm going to get the movie off Kissasian, ready to be watched!
fullmetalbender Aug 28, 7:58 PM
P.S. I might as well reply here about the movie plan since I too am on MAL more often when not drama-watching anyway...
I think it'd be really fun to do a simul-watch actually! Is there some live-chat place or something that we can use? And time zones can be conquered! ^◡^
fullmetalbender Aug 28, 6:03 AM
Lol yes, I honestly do want to check out at least a few episodes precisely because of curiosity - I cannot think of any successful way they can 'translate' Karuta! Most of all though, I hope this weird and unwanted decision becomes something of a step towards what we do want desperately: a Chihayafuru s3!
fullmetalbender Aug 18, 2:30 AM

Mm I thought (hoped?) the same when I first heard about the anime, but any such expectations dissolved pretty quickly when I started seeing snippets of it, like PVs and trailers. As for budget, well Production IG is never stingy when it comes to showcasing their work, especially since they're turned into Sports Anime Central in recent years it seems.

I swear one of these days I'm going to finally give in and start my long-PTW'd ongoing manga...Actually, come to think of it, I'm not even caught up with the ones I am reading...

Ooh speaking of manga (kind of), have you heard about the Chihayafuru dub!?? This is honestly hilarious news to me because even as someone supportive of dubs, this was literally my one example of an anime that should not be dubbed - for what I thought was obvious reasons!
