Released within a year of each other, the two series utilize similar art styles, but focus around a group of friends hanging out during the summer time period. More specifically, there is a mystery to be solved, but the thoughts of only having that one summer for one last time to make memories as friends.
Anohana and Ano Natsu de Matteru are both emotional anime that have a nearly identical mode of story telling and main male protagonists trying to fulfill the wish of a girl that may eventually disappear from their lives. They also have really similar characters - a socially awkward male, a paranormal girl and their friends in between who are in a pinch regarding their love lives. Both series offer superb animation and feature a lot of touching moments that will most likely make you let out tears and leave you with a happy smile in the end. If you liked watching one of them you shouldn't hesitate to try out the other. read more
Both series has a lighthearted sort of feeling involving romance and drama. The protagonist seems to be the center of it all as he tries to fulfill the wishes of the heroine.
The main characters are rather similar s well. The protagonist is somewhat cynical and the heroine is strange.
Additionally, the director worked on both of these series hence the dramatic story. And as for the stories, both series are build from friendship, trials, misunderstandings, and bonds.
•both are from the same anime company/producer which = same character designs, atmosphere, art style
•both anime focus on fullfilling a wish of an important person to the boy protagonist, which they know they will eventually dissappear
•both contain romances/love triangles/hardships of loss
•both have a familiar story throughout the anime which both of the anime ends in sadness
•both are really pleasant to watch, so if you watch one, you must watch the other.
Both series take place during the summer and the life changing experiences that the characters go through.
Both series have interesting characters with interesting relationships.
Both series slightly involve supernatural events with ghosts in Ano Hana and aliens in Ano Natsu.
Both series have similar art styles and character designs.
Both series involve romance.
Very similar feel of summertime and a group of friends with plenty of tear jerking action. In both shows there is a unique main female lead and very relatable main characters. Both include relationship drama and love triangle/squares. The art style is also similar. Overall they two shows just feel very similar in many different ways.
Ano Natsu and Anohana have a similar feel to their content and atmosphere such as the summer setting, dramedy, and character development. The central theme in this is based around love, a love triangle, and personal conflicts. You might laugh, and cry at the same time as you progress through the story with a likable story and characters.
Anohana follows six childhood friends, who are in their separate ways after one childhood friend was involved in an accident who turned into a ghost. Ano Natsu follows an alien girl who crash land on Earth and the boy was involve with that accident.
Both anime have a ''what it seems'' lovely happy team of kids...but with secrets, fears, thoughts they can't share!
They contain love, painfull love, and sadness and tears!
Both anime have a characters that is kinda ''strange''...who comes and changes everything in the loves of the protagonists!
- They both have same art style.
- The situation of the two female protagonist might look different but technically they are same.
- I love both of their Op and ED
- the story lines take place in a certain "Summer"
Both have colorful characters and a similar art style, both dealing with feelings of love and loss with a supernatural twist.
I would have to say that "Ano Natsu de Matteru" never feel quite as deep as AnoHana, though, but it's good nonetheless.
Besides the over the comparison between style, production value, staff, animation and more so, which by the way are major pluses in their own right, each tells a type of emotional story that both share similarities on.
One focuses on changing yourself out of individuals comfort zone while the other challenges the change to move forward with oneself. Noth different in narrative, but a central theme of change and growth are both shown in these.
Would recommend to check these two out.
+ Both are series that explore the everyday life hardships and nice/good moments of it...
+ Character designs is somewhat similar...(eyes)
+ Both of these anime are emotional...really...(at the end only)
+ Both have amazing visuals/ost's...
+ Both are made by A-1 Pictures / both has similar genres as well...
- Both has anoying male leads, female leads also.....(supporting cast are cool, I'm okay with them)
This is in regards to Porter Robinson fans mostly, but Anohana's character Menme is said to be the one who was used to create the Divinity Peace Sign Girl, while Ano Natsu de Matteru is sampled for a lot of sounds in the song Flicker. Both are rather sad in the anime sense of things.
Until finishing Ano Natsu, I had thought the OBVIOUS similarities between the two were nothing more than examples of the anime industry's lack of originality. But it turns out they were written by the same person, with Ano Natsu linking into Onegai Teacher at the very end. So, it wasn't theft: it was just the writer being lazy. Glad that's clear, now.
Two alien Mary Sues come from space. They have the same basic character designs. One becomes a teacher; one becomes a student. They fall in love with scrawny, four-eyed midgets. There's drama.
Same producer, same style, same atmosphere. Both stories are about an alien girl (with red hair) come to earth and meet the Hero. Both stories are happened in a school at remote area. Both Hero are wearing glasses and are students. Both Heroine are older than the Heros. Both have a girl likes the Hero. Yukari is acting very similar characters in both animes.
Same writer, story, character designs, setting and even opening theme singer (KOTOKO)
If you've watched one then you've practically watched the other and can update your MAL list accordingly ... disappointingly unoriginal ..
Oh come on, how similar can you get with these two? Good looking aliens? Check. Guy romantically involved with said alien? Check. School setting? Check. The main difference I can point out is the storyline. Onegai Teacher tipped more on the drama scale. AnoNatsu has better art style and animation though. Anyway, both were entertaining to watch.
Aside from the having the same writer, Yousuke Kuroda, the overall tone of the series follows the same structure as Onegai Teacher.
1) A lot of inner monologues between the two main characters' and exploring their emotions with each other. The viewers are shown all the worries and thoughts of the characters. As if they were living in the character's shoes.
2) Easy to understand conflicts. A lot of explanations with dialogues, monologues, and clearly structured scenes to reassure all aspects of the viewer's thoughts.
The story is practically the same, only with characters with different names, but if they liked the romantic theme of the boy who falls in love with the beautiful alien woman and the existence of a strong love triangle, then I think this series should of interest.
A beautiful story of love, friendship, comedy and drama.
Ano Natsu de Matteru and Onegai Teacher are romance anime that have a very similar storyline where the main male protagonists fall in love with an alien girl from outer space. Both series feature amazing animation and character design. The conflicts that carry the story are pretty much the same and many of the characters bear a strong resemblance, in terms of design and personality. It's safe to say that, if you enjoyed watching Ano Natsu de Matteru, you will most likely enjoy Onegai Teacher, and vice versa.
It's the pseudo-remake of Onegai Teacher. Rejoice.
-They're both straight romances.
-They both showcase a high school boy as the protagonist.
-The heroines are both older (senpai in Ano Natsu and sensei in Onegai) then the protagonist.
-The female leads are both red-haired bespectacled aliens with cute companions (Rinon and Marie).
-The cast in general feel similar.
-They eventually live together.
-They occur in a rural setting.
-They both showcase a love triangle with the protagonist's close female friend.
-They have the same writer.
-The story also feels similar.
-The art feels similar.
-Even the sound feel similar.
-Most importantly, They're both interesting.
As alot of people have already pointed out, this anime is very similar to onegai teacher. (same writer/producer) However, i'd like to extrapolate from that and go as far as to say that the two animes occur in the same universe.
Firstly, lets compare Ichigo (strawberry) vs. Remon (lemon). Looks very similar and have the same VA. They've implied in the last couple of episodes that Remon had standstills. She mentions about being "eternally 17" and how Tetsurou teases Remon for "still being in highschool". In addition, her personality is almost one in the same as ichigo. Also Remon reiterates the words ichigo spoke, "Don't stop. Stay in motion. Go forward."
Lake and the trees. Seems like a reoccurring theme. Nagano lake was where onegai teacher took place, hinting at the same location.
Ichika Takatsuki is in fact Kei x Mizhuo's daughter???
Mizuho is known to have been half human and half alien. The implication is such that it is acceptable in her society to bring back humans to live together.
Lastly Kei was 155cm and Mizuho was 170cm
assuming basic mandelian genetics (which height is pretty well approximated to be)
155+170 / 2 = 162.5.
Ichika is 163cm. Coincidence? Well you can say so is everything else.
Kei has red eyes, Mizuho has purple eyes and Ichika has blue eyes. read more
The story line of both is similar. Both have an alien and human romance in it with a good ending, give the same feeling/atmosphere, have something to do with the theme of summer, have similar art, and are interesting.
Both Series is about alien girls (Both have red hair and glasses) come to earth and fall in love with a human boy (both have glasses). Both series have more than one love triangle going on and spuriously the main setting is at school (Like any other high school harem) Both series also sharing the same genres such as Comedy, Romance, Sci-Fi, Ecchi & Drama.
The only differance between Please Teacher and Ano Natsu de matteru is that the alien became a teacher at the school (Please Teacher) instead of a Grade 12 student.
Never seen two series that's so much alike with each other so if like either show then i'm about 99% sure that you'll enjoy the other one. read more
Is the same thing!! really, sometimes i think..is kei kusanagi and mizuho-sensei in cosplay?? :S
The story is very very very similar, the personalities of characters, etc
Ano natsu de matteru has better animation.
-Both have an alien that comes to earth
-In Both the main character finds out and has to keep it a secret
-In both the guy falls for the girl (in Onegai Teacher The girl also falls for the boy right away)
-Both have another girl that likes him and he has to chose between the two
-They both have the same concept
-Both are extremly Fantastic anime that made me wont to meet an alien :)
So If you've loved Ano Natsu de Matteru You'll love Onegai Teacher
- Same author
- Same alien bullsh*t
- Similar character designs (four-eyed midget MC, Voluptuous main heroine)
- Similar storyline
- Onegai teacher is slightly more mature than Ano natsu.
* Both have similar characters ( not by designs, but personalities )
* Alien girl/woman living under the same roof with four-eyes male lead...
* Strong SOL/Supernatural/School vibes...
* Lot's of annoying monologues....again again and again....
* In both, characters looks like 15/17 years old as minimum, but they're acting like 10 year old kids who doesn't know anything...even the super/high IQ alien girl...wtf.....
* They both have several hilarious or just funny moments...
* Romance actually goes somewhere....idk it's just plain boring in AnoNatsu...unlike Onegai Teacher!
Neither has much to talk about the difference between the two, because they are IDENTICAL, simply Ano Natsu de Matteru was based completely on Onegai Teacher but Ano Natsu is best known for being current, having a beautiful animation, then you who already watched Ano Natsu de Matteru run and watch Onegai Teacher which is simply great, particularly prefer Onegai Teacher, is spicier and has a more charismatic characters.
Plots are similar with some minor differences. An alien goes to earth to complete a mission and where in one anime she disguises herself as a teacher in the other anime disguises herself as a student. They both fall in love with their classmate/student who both discover the other's identity. I liked Ano Natsu de Matteru better because I think it has better character dynamic and character/relationships development. And it was just so cute ^^
Both shows feature a group of highschool students with romantic feelings for each other yet refusing to tell the respective other. The drawing and animation style of both Toradora and Ano Natsu are very similar, so the atmosphere in both shows feels alike. Although Ano Natsu features fantastic elements, both shows' focus lies on romantic comedy and drama elements.
Both feature a very similar artistic design and narrative style, not coincidentally under the same director. Toradora and Ano Natsu de Matteru bring together a high school boy and girl into an unexpected romantic situation.
Both deal with high school kids falling in love with one another, and these crushes intertwine. Both are heart-wrenching romances and they will twist your feelings. You will feel happy, go "awww" because of cuteness or go "awwww" cause of sadness. Very beautiful anime. Both are also by JC Staff, the art style is also very similar.
They are both from J.C Staff, they both have the same art style, they both have a short girl with blondish hair and whenever she smiles, i instantly get reminded of Taiga from Toradora. If you enjoyed Toradora I'm sure you will also enjoy this, but Toradora is better.
I'm actually surprised how much these two series had in similarities compared to one another after watching both. Yes, these two series are quite similar in a good way.
Both series details a normal main protagonist who meets a strange girl in the beginning. They endure many factors but eventually fall in love.
Both series are lighthearted and also has various love triangles involving other characters as the episodes progresses. In fact, the other characters have their own issues that are presented throughout the series that can be seen as realistic and common in real life/relationships.
Both series has comedy, drama, romance, and also emotions. Needless to say, both series presents a romantic comedy that is a bit unique that is entertaining.  read more
They have similar aspects and mood in the series such as love, and comedy-drama, though it focus much more romance then comedy. The atmosphere of the show has a serious tone in it, and characters are driven by their emotions on how they feel to the person. When progressing through the story, their are some dramatic moments and some sweet moments between the main male and female characters.
Toradora follows a boy who is caught by an extreme tsundere girl with a cold but shy attitude inside of her. Ano Natsu follows an alien girl who have somewhat a shy personality inside of her.
Isn't highschool just the greatest?! Wasn't for me! Both shows just make your heart fluffy with just how innocently cute they are. Both revolve around a group of people with feelings for not-gonna-tell-you. Overall, both share a similar atmosphere & are just similar!
Ano Natsu and Nagi no Asukara shares a similar theme of youth during. The characters from both series aren't fully adults yet so they learn to grow up and learn the world around them.
The main characters from both series have various interactions with a touch of friendship, romance, and respect. Not all the characters are human as a few possesses supernatural traits that are viewed differently in their perspective worlds.
There is a similar atmosphere as the characters follows a slice of life-like pattern. There's also some drama related to the special people involved in both series that seems to be shunned by society.
The elements of Jealousy is present on both shows heck, having Ano Natsu on my recommendation. Apart From That, They both share almost the same tags such as Romance and Fantasy. A love Polygon/Triangle is also implied and shown on both shows.
The Only Difference is the setting.
First off, this is one of my all time favorites. As a die hard romance fan, this is super amazing.
Ano Natsu and Nagi share the similarities of love triangles, Nagi's being a bit more complicated I think. But both have amazing artwork and great storylines, definitely worth a watch. Ano's ending left me speechless
Nagi-Asu and Ano-Natsu both share a similar atmosphere and focus on developing the character's feelings and relationships.
Both anime have selfless characters which lead to complicated relationship problems and also has a love polygon which causes drama and distress within the cast.
They also have a similar fantasy setting but while Ano-Natsu deals with aliens in space the other focuses on people living underwater and on land.
Aliens, comedy and bright colors. A slow paced story that is also a story about growing up. What more could you ask for? How about aliens interrupting the day to day lives of normal people and the normal crazy antics of teens.
The two main characters, Takatsuki Ichika (Ano Natsu de Matteru) and Haru (Tsuritama), are both mysterious, odd newcomers to small towns who form strong friendships with some of the locals. Both anime series have beautiful landscape scenes, are colorful, and have the "summer" theme.
The Female MC from both series came from some other planet, they both fell in love with the MC, only difference is that One is actually romance with normal looking character and the other is FanServies with cat looking girl......
Both of them are based about teen boy who is living their life and an unexpectedly an alien appears and is forced to live with them for one reason or another. These animes are about the difficulties and embarrassment that both these teenagers face and how they cope with them. There is a lot of comedy mixed in with lots of seriousness.
Both set in high school and are both are comedies with romance also with a lot of sexual humor. You'll see similar relationships between characters in both shows though one deals with aliens and has a slice of life feel.
-Alien female protagonist
-Ordinary male protagonist
-Some romance elements - Specifically, love triangles
-Both alien female protagonists initially try to hide their identity as aliens
-Some comedic elements
-To Love ru has A LOT more fan service
-Ano Natsu is more serious and focused on the romance element
-To Love ru has a more harem-based approach, whereas Ano Natsu focuses on love triangles/squares/pentagons/etc.
-Ano Natsu has more of a progression in plot than To Love ru. To love ru's plot is relatively unconnected - if you skip a few episodes, you haven't really missed out on any plot.
Both are about a alien girl who comes to earth and falls for a average guy and both have forces trying to bring the girl home and both have the guy fighting for her and both are Harrems(Ano natsu is not as much of a harem as To love-ru).Ano natsu de Matteru is more of a drama/slice of life and can be somewhat slow at times where To love-ru is a ecchi/comedy which can be overwhelming at times but overall both are enjoyable.
You just have to compare the first episodes to see how they are similar. The anime follow the story of a boy who is accidentally injured by a girl from another world and tries to make amends while hiding behind an human identity. The main character lives alone with a sister who has to leave for indefinite amounts of time. The girls both have companions which act as their support in the new environment they are on. They also share a similar art style, which is reminiscent of Ano Hanna. At its best this anime is a great combination of themes shared in Birdy Decode with the setting feel and undertones of Ano Hanna. read more
Searching for more crazy love triangle/polygon/whatever? Then check Ano Natsu de Matteru. Both shows are about a group of teenagers living their summer with each other and experiencing feelings of friendship and love. Some characters really resemble each other as well, and it's hard to know who to root for when there's so many lovable people involved.
Characters are very similar and all quirky and lovable. Both have cool Sci-fi elements and both are during a summer with similar themes. Both shows have tons of possible shippings and love pentagons and other shapes. lol.
Also Kanna from Ano Natsu de Matteru and Chidori from Kiznaiver are bassically the same character xD
While the plots of both series are dissimilar, both share a connection through the portrayal of the characters in a love pentagon (what even?) and the depiction high emotions that coincide with growing up and experiencing trauma. I personally believe they also share a rather homogeneous art-style. Both of these are rated highly in my opinion.
They both have a focus on memories/making memories.
In both series they're making films that showcase these memories, however it is only a small part of Golden Time and the main focus in Ano Natsu de Matteru
Dramatic plot, the main characters draw you in a lot. Cutesyish art style, as well as elements of romance, drama (as I said before), and action. This isn't a perfect recommendation, as Chuuni's romance is a lot more implied, and doesn't fully blossom until the end. But chances are, if you liked this, Chuuni will be a favorite of yours, as well as Toradora!.
The main focus of both Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai and Ano Natsu de Matteru is the character relations, especially between the male and female lead. They both star a simple minded teenage male who one day stumbles across a strange girl who turns his world upside down. Together with a charming cast of supporting characters, the new group of friends learn about each other through each laugh and cry.
Both series contain a similar theme and feeling.
Both the protagonist present in the series are involved in a love triangle that has mishaps, trials, but also with joy and memories.
Both series are set in a similar setting filled with drama, romance, and emotions.
If you like slice of life genre, you must watch these two stories that have place in the summer and the plot is centered on something supernatural, like foresights or aliens. In the same time, a love story that ends somehow sadly is started.
Both Sankarea and Ano Natsu de Matteru are romance genre. The male protagonists falls in love with a girl that isn't human, and many things occurred to try to stop the male and female protagonists together. However, they still try their best to stay together.
This two are very similar in its way of presenting a tasteful romantic comedy. Both shows deal with the main character having romantic feelings for a supernatural being. Also, they similar in the sense that both shows also deal with a love-triangle along with their childhood friends.
space/slice of life / drama ..
the characters are very similar you have
Mio/Erio , Kanna/Ryuuko , Maekawa/Remon etc ..
it felt as if it was an alternative version that
focuses on the romantic aspects ..
A boys' summer is about dealing with aliens from another planet. One boy meets and falls in love with an alien while the other falls in love with a girl who fights aliens. There is a concept of loss as well.
The similarity lies with the characters. You're going to get a familiar feel regarding many of the characters if you've seen either one. It doesn't hurt that both series share the same character designer and some of the seiyuu have worked on both titles.
This is literally the same thing
Main Character has a cute blue-haired childhood friend who is secretly in love with him.
Than some alien girl apears for no reason and wins fandom's heart because she has bigger pair of breasts
*lead female character deciding to respond negatively to MC's confession at first but giving in eventually for similar reasons
*a situation having (over)dramatic denial and confusion followed by some cheesy romance
*a seemingly impossible relationship forged which came to a quick inevitable end
*male and female leads living together even before their relationship started
*both male leads were about the same age (2-3 years apart)
*Ano Natsu de Matteru's setting was the present world where Plastic memories' setting was the (somewhat) future world
*Ano Natsu de Matteru had a love chain or triangle of sorts, whereas Plastic memories was more straightforward in this sector(not entirely though).
*High school romance (A.N.d.M) and workplace romance (P.M.)
both seemed to belong to the same tier to me, so my experience tells me if you've seen and liked one of the two then you're bound to like the other read more
1. The plot of each anime is about aliens coming to earth for some reason.
2. Both animes have 2 male and 2 female characters which the anime centers around and follows
and at last 3. The story itself is very touching and many scenes are very alike.
Something about aliens? This anime is a bit similar to engaged to the unidentified, it has romance but it doesn't have a lot of good laughs. Well I guess it is really similar because of the fact that the main characters suddenly lived under the same roof suddenly, and one of the MC is some sort of alien. I guess I've made my point. Hope that this will help you :)
Apart from the fact that both anime (ovie the one series the other) have the romantic feature as their main feature they have a very similar way on showing how protagonists deal with situations unknown to them!!!
They also have the fact of the unknown for different reason each!
I shouldn't say more because it would be a spoiler but in my opinion these both have more similarities than meets the eye!
A group of friends decide to shoot a movie during summer break; the plot and characters in the movies on both series closely reflect the strange and secret truth about one or more characters or situations in the show even though it's not known by everyone participating in the creation of the film (On 'Haruhi' she's the only one who doesn't know the truth, on 'Ano Natsu De Matteru' most of the characters don't know).
That's just about where the similarities end as far as a can recall.
- The friendship layout is strikingly similar. (Boy in glasses falls for a pretty girl he just met and his best friend for several years secretly likes him.)
- They actually have a lot of differences (Shigatsu deals with music while AnoNatsu deals with film making).
- But in both series you get to see the concept of being "friendzoned" several times.
- The female romantic interest (Kaori in Shigatsu and Ichika in AnoNatsu) also leaves the main character alone, in her own way.
Both series' main characters meet kind of accidentally, but ends up falling in love with each other. The ending is somewhat similar as well. If you like Tsuki ga Kirei, you will also like And Natsu de Matteru.
As you watch Ano Natsu de Matteru, you will notice that the story's characters have large similarities to Nisekoi's. While the anime starts slowly, it contains quite a bit of romance and presents the same idea of how one of the characters force themselves to hold back from who they love.
These anime are based on pure entertainment, both will keep you entertained and asking you questions all the time. The plot of both is a group of friends on summer holidays, the only difference is that Ano Natsu de Matteru have more romance, and Shoujo-tachi have more comedy. Definetly, both are good and similar slice of life.
Both are slice-of-life comedies that sometimes wander into more serious and emotional territory. They rely heavily on a group dynamic, which focuses on a couple members while the rest support. However, every character has a unique character design. Both series begin in a school setting with a new student and groups forming with a goal in mind, and they are eventually successful.
Both series belong to the categories that are defined as romantic comedy but also contains sci fi themes.
In both series, the main protagonist meets an strange being and bonds with them. As the series progresses, the main protagonist and the girl begins to develop feelings towards one another.
Both series contain drama, comedy, action, and of course romance later on. And with drama of course brings forth love triangles, misunderstandings, and even wild chases later on.
The female characters are aliens who come from space and end up falling in love in Earth. Ano Natsu de Matteru is more of a drama but also has the nice romantic comedy touch making it enjoyable for those who like Narue no Sekai
Comedy, romance, drama, and stage acting/movie filming what else could you ask for more? Both of these series are great for anime fans who enjoy a slow paced yet meaningful story. Ano Natsu does has a sci-fi side that Tsuyokiss lacks. However, both series are little gems that any anime fan should add to their collection.
same atmosphere: summer
and i think ano natsu de matteru will have sad ending, but when i see onegai teacher, and the author said "i hate sad ending" so i dont know about the ending XD
Both is interesting and good
Shingu is about an alien invasion in 2070 while Ano Natsu de Matteru is more about a alien secretly hiding her identity both shows contain a lot of plot twist between characters maybe more in shingu than Ano Natsu de Matteru however Shingu doesn't have much romance but it does have some. They all both contain narration from the lead male characters who are both nerdy though one has feelings for someone the other is more a romantic focus and is obvious to the feelings someone has for him.
Both have a group of friends having fun together. Hyouka focuses more on mystery, humor and slight romance while Ano Natsu de Matteru focuses on a story between a few friends and their unforgettable summer!
Both are very nice and relaxing as well as very intriguing.
- Both have love triangles
- Both have one girl left heart broken
- Both of the main male characters have great hobby's e.g: manga artist and film maker
- Both have the same line of story from the beginning of the anime.
- Both start of meeting the girl by accident.
Sora no Method really reminded me of Ano Natsu de Matteru, especially with the ending which gave me a total nostalgy vibe!
Both also have vaglie similar storylines of an alien/something not from earth joining a group of people/friends and living their daily life until the end where she then leaves/disappears.
They also have somewhat similar art styles so I'm sure if you liked Ano Natsu de Matteru you'll also like Sora no Method and visa versa.
