Unfortunately I don't have a PSP so tried to start the game on emulator but it doesn't work. So I would stick with anime.
You could always just read the LP where most of the people here did.

Its got better pacing, posts all the music where they play, and when theres voice acting in the trials there are videos. It's way more enjoyable than just letting the anime rush through it cause its completely neglecting characters which is its strongest suite.
