Both have the main characters and their race face a never-ending battle against an enemy they can't understand. The main character is set on discovering the mysteries of the world, and learn truths they may regret uncovering.

Dark histories in the world filled with wonders and unknowns. People must stick together during hard times without any thought of selfish desires. 'Claymore' signify friendship and teamwork in the midst of chaos. No matter how strong one is, there comes a time where they need to reach out for a needing hand. 'Shingeki no Kyojin' convey on dominance and total control where the King decides all. What is truth? How do you define good and bad? The answer to those questions are not as simple as it seems.

These dark fantasy reads involve large scale fights with powerful, often gigantic, creatures.

Both stories' main themes revolve around the great mysteries of the world creation, dark past, and hidden history. Both have gore scenes and explicit content of devouring people. Both have the subplots that involve hide-and-seek, death of significant characters, and a lot of mind games. Though Yakusoku no Neverland seems to be more childish & optimistic, it still have the same motives of despair and hope, while revealing the darkest secrets of the world as Shingeki no Kyojin possesses.

Similarities: - violence/gore - disturbing scenes - dark/mature theme - some sort of romance (although AgK has more) - unique weaponry Differences: - AgK is a bit more light-hearted (has more comedy) - assassins in AgK kill other humans and beasts - in SnK, they kill titans

What connects Gantz and Shingeki is their equally brutal, unflinching violence. Gantz offers 'guilty pleasure' elements (namely, huge boobies) not present in Shingeki, but in both titles characters are introduced and then, without warning, murdered in graphic detail. The intensity level of two is high enough to keep one on the edge of their seat throughout. If the games from Gantz excited you, then the giants raiding the last home of humanity - and ripping humans apart like toys - would also excite you. The quality characterization in the two makes it impossible not to care.

These two mangas may start off with a feeling that they're different but in general they're very similar. Both plot involves the protagonist changing into a supernatural creature and had to go through many dark events to become stronger. The protagonists are both involved in a organization that protects people while in Tokyo Ghoul's case it was to protect a friend. These two mangas' genres are very similar as well as partial art.

Taking place in a fictional world where monsters exists, Shingeki no Kyojin and Owari no Serpah explores the dark side of fantasy. The main male protagonist also suffers from a tragic past that includes the lost of his friends. Both series focuses on their journey to gain revenge while developing connections with others. There is also military affairs in both series revolving around divisions that fights the mysterious beings in their perspective worlds.

Humans fighting a losing battle against monsters, both titles contain a factor of mystery pertaining to the monsters, and there is plenty of gore and death.

The last of humanity fighting a mysterious enemy. Sidonia's story is paced better/faster than Titan and introduces new plot points regularly to keep you interested. Sidonia is like Titan in space with mechs and a stronger plot and characters. I feel like Sidonia accomplishes what Titan is trying to do much better.

Captures a similar feel to early AoT before it tried to get philosophical. It definitely takes some inspiration but not similar enough to call it a knock-off by any means. It currently a very fun action title.
reportRecommended by geekgirl42
Both series feature very brutal and detailed violence. They also focus on their characters' minds, issues and trauma. Chainsaw Man has very edgy and childish gags, but they seem more influenced by western humour so even non veterans can enjoy it.

Both manga take place in humanity's future where things look bleak. Both feature giants and monsters with very interesting designs and anatomy.

these two manga are quite similar for the two deal with humanity on the brink of extinctions in the case of Koz are the zombies that keeps people in fear and in SnK are the giants and both are very similar to me

The are both similar because they are in the same place however, attack on titan before the fall is 70 years before Erens time its also that time when humans still didn't know how to kill titans properly before they even invented Maneuver Gear.Attack on titan before fall has romance in this.
reportRecommended by crimsonxshine
They both involve mind-blowing tragedies and gore. You are never sure what is right and wrong and will care deeply for the main character. Both take place in an alternate universe that is still very relatable

Both these mangas are gory, with strong sibling relationship between the main characters. Want to study and know more about the creatures from characters who can turn into them.
reportRecommended by Salamander2170
Both talks about how the remaining of humanity walled/barricade themselves in area(s) to prevent themselves from extinction. For Shingeki no Kyojin, MOST of humanity lived in an enormous area, barricaded by three circular walls. For Black Bullet, survivors of humanity barricade themselves in several surviving countries through the help of monoliths in a circular motion. Both talks about how an unknown enemy threatens their existence. For Shingeki no Kyojin, it's about the Titans, which is considerably taller than them (3m-60m) that may intrude the walls whereas for Black Bullet, several monsters known as "Gastreas" may sneak into the area protected by the monoliths (to keep them  read more

Despite the temporal distance, both mangas are very similar by the feelings that they get. Violence and particular design must be surmounted, because it's beyond that is situated the real treasure : a beautiful thought on the human kind.
reportRecommended by MaDdilly
Both very similar, due to having to fight for survival. One being zombies and the other being titans.
reportRecommended by Salamander2170
Both manga have similar stories in which humans enclosed themselves in giant walls to protect themselves from the danger outside the walls. In Stravaganza, beyond the walls there are many dangerous monster that devours human but at the same time there are some that are just passive. While in Shingeki, There are giant monster that resembles human that seems to have not much of a mind but eating humans. Also, The atmosphere of both of these manga are different, Shingeki has a dark atmosphere while Stravaganz has more of a lighter one.
reportRecommended by Duckii
What would you do in order not to die? Would you be able to kill another human being? And would you have the determination to keep on fighting even if it seemed hopeless? The settings in both of these manga is completely different but the element of fighting for survival is very important in both if these manga. Be prepared for violence and a lot of death before taking one of these masterpieces on!

If you enjoy how human can survive the big monster invasion like in the shingeki no kyojin, the dolly will give you the same air.
reportRecommended by suhafer
No, there are no giant monsters in FMA, no there is no alchemy in Titan. In both of them, however, there is an alternative modern world with technology both below and exceeding what we have now, also the government plays an absolutely massive role in a similar fashion to Titan with their corruption and having the main characters all be tied to it. I don't know what it is exactly, but I just know if you like Titan there is a strong chance of you liking this

Both are two of the best military manga I've ever read. Both have a typical shounen protagonists facing a morally grey world. Both have excellent character development. There are also interesting politics, even if Kingdom arguably does it better.
reportRecommended by Capnskart
Pray/Annie have a similar relationship to Miksasa/Eren. Both give a sense of dread as many characters are killed. The human race has to face a race that is much stronger than them, but luckily they have enhanced weapons.
reportRecommended by Aina-Chan
Both of these titles present a bleak world in which dying and grieving are common events. Characters are oftentimes placed in the most desperate of situations.

Both series are similar due to having to fight for survival. Both have enemies with overwhelming capabilities. Both have gory scenes.

The main character of each story wants revenge for the death of a family member. Both stories have lots of action and are well written.

- Both series involve talented protagonists with mysterious pasts that fight against an "unknown" enemy. - Every character has a different motive that drives them to risk their lives and protect humanity. - Fighting forces are grouped into several companies that have their own distinguished mentalities and specialties. - Even among the "heroes" there are differences in politics and values that lead to infighting. - Death has become a close part of life in their world due to the monsters that plague them. Overall, both series are great shounen/super power stories with memorable characters and high-stakes fights.
reportRecommended by Samui
Both take place in a world that is overrun by these huge monsters, with humanity at the brink of extinction. In both series, the remainder of humanity is living in a closed off area surrounded by a barrier/wall that keeps the giant monsters away. The main characters in both are a group of people who try to fight for survival against all odds and destroy all the monsters that 'took their freedom away from them'. If you like one you might not necessarily love the other, but its possibly still worth checking out to see something with a pretty similar concept.

Monsters threatening humanity, mysterious powers bestowed on only some people, very powerful protagonist, excellent artwork, gripping story.

Both are dark stories where we follow young characters who live in a cruel place enclosed by walls, a cage where surviving implies killing and where they struggle to save what they care about.

Not only the level of writing is similar, but also the idea and the execution. While most moments may seem meaningless, pure shock value and fan service,…Well, they actually are. Also, the romance element clearly is transparent, where EM is as clear as day and shares lots of similarities with Shoujo Tsubaki, the totally healthy and romantic relationship that if you’re a shipper you gonna love it. Sadly both series miss romance tag(and comedy tag as well, typical MAL).

It captures some of the more complex themes of discrimination and pervasive racist policies that AoT tried to tinker with in its endgame, but the author of 86 knows what to do with it. 86 does also capture the early feel of AoT's fighting a seemingly endless number of mindless "monsters", the monsters in this case are rogue AI killing machines. Between the LN and Manga adaptations, the former is better in my opinion and there is more of it to consume legally outside Japan as it stands. The manga is a more than adequate as a substitute for the most part but it does  read more

Both manga are utterly bananas and two of the most consistently thrill-inducing hype machines I know of. They each tackle the scenario of a minority gifted with superpowers, apply the theme of human perseverance and balance the supernatural spectacle with in-universe scientific explanations. If you love seeing authors as well as their characters channel their maximum intensity and creativity by delivering on some of the most bombastic action displays in the medium, take my word and add these to your list.

This anime is similar to Shingeki no Kyojin in a different way. That way would be storytelling. Beastars is an amazing story for a manga. It's written by a female mangaka, but the masterpiece it is, I can't quite put my finger on it. Is it the realistic representation of racism? I don't have a clue myself. It's quite a read, then you'll understand how good it is. And no, it is not a furry anime.

Pumpkin Scissors is in a diesel-punk world modeled after early 20th century Europe where human experimentation is one of the major themes. Pumpkins Scissors has a more comedic edge than AoT, but they have similar settings and both have extremely brutal combat segments. Both MCs have to change into monsters when they fight; but for our main character Randell, he's more of a metaphorical monster that becomes an unfeeling killing machine, while Erin Jeager literally turns into a monster.

To be honest these manga was really great when I'm reading Jujutsu Kaisen I think about Shingeki no Kyojin they had a lot of similarities between them, firstly they had a good art when it's double page, it has a really good gore for a Shounen manga and not only that they might have the same ending when these manga end, so if you want to read a bit of a gory manga then I recommend this they might not be that gory but it's really good I highly recommend it.

Dreadful reality. Elfen Lied and Attack on Titan both follow individuals who have to live the hard way with life gives to them, even if they never asked for it. All the more having one simple desire to strive for in the harsh nature of the world. With Elfen Lied being about Lucy and her upbringing, along with her split mind, with Kouta, as she is hunted down for who she is. Imo the most similar to ToG in terms of overall theme, narration, plot, and characters. Both have a relatively serious narration with a hint of humour. Started out with "lessons" but evolve into a story with much bigger, darker themes, and have a mix of wit and action for fights Both have "Chosen MC" who gradually moulds into his role. Characters are often morally ambiguous, have diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and outlooks on life. Lack of female character sexualisation, both have strong female characters in powerful positions. ** mild spoilers ** Uncovering past mysteries, toppling oppressive establishments, power struggles between different factions and wars. Many differences but the gear used in both manga are pretty much the same. In Shingeki no Kyojin they use Maneuver Gear to fly around urban areas and use to kill Titans. In Wallman they use a similar gear to fly around modern day Japan to complete assassination missions. The MC in Wallman is a retired Assassin and is very skilled with the gear from the outset.

In both the charactares have to constantly struggle for survival. The origin of the threat is a mistery. SnK is more of a battle manga, KnI a survival game. Although labeled as shounen, they sometimes fit better in the seinen genre (like quite a few series in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine). Both are amazing reads and feel similar.

If you like the dark and depressing mood of Shingeki no Kyojin (underdog heroes trying to battle monsters much stronger than they are), then D.Gray-man runs along the same tile. Both have main characters constantly trying their best to defeat the almost immortal villains. And all the deaths around them...

While both series follow different premises, Shingeki no Kyojin and Nanatsu no Taizai convey their fantasy elements well with their settings. Both series' main protagonist have motivations and are joined with other characters to fight for a cause. They encounter both allies and enemies along the way. There are certain mysteries revolving around both series' setting and the characters including the MC themselves. SnK composes of more of dark fantasy elements while Nanatsu no Taizai has more battle shounen tropes. Nonetheless , I recommend both series to anyone interested in colorful fantasy saga.

The settings are pretty similar: Letter Bee: people are corralled in 3 different areas based on class, those of higher class get to live closer towards the middle. People do not venture out of their regions due to Gaichuu which are large insects which steal peoples' "hearts". In Shingeki no Kyojin: There are 3 different areas or they call them walls. The story of both these serialisations follow the constant battle between the creatures who cause the deaths of many and the humans who have been trained to protect the society they live in. Both are contextualised in a bleak and dark atmosphere; profoundly emphasised by seemingly isolated settings.

Both deal with violence in an equally disturbing manner. Few manga can compare when it comes to making one uncomfortable by avoiding 'happy endings' as much as possible. And, maybe purely because of how the subject matter is dealt with, I found the art of the two somewhat similar. There are parallels between the titles' leads, such as them both seeing one of their parents seriously wounded/murdered. And dealing with loss - as well as the desire for revenge - is a key factor in both.

Both have a very rich and detailed world where the main setting is a highly militaristic country of steampunk / victorian era technology. Both titles also have massive battles where strategy and intelligent thinking is much more important than shear brute strength with a very well thought out scenarios that are both complex and rather easy to follow

Both of these works show a similar understanding of the horrors of war and conflict, friends dying, betrayal, and politics. Also, artistically they are on a similar level. Neither of them have the cleanest or cleanest art in the world, but still manage to display good action.

What if you instead of huge walls, had thin lines painted with white flowers, instead of a king and different fractions had a few townsfolk who's trying to sort things out, and instead of a group of guerrilla soldiers had a girl - with her cat? If there's one thing those two mangas share, it's the fact that both can get dark really fast - characters WILL die or get traumas from the reality that presents itself, and hope rarely presents itself in those bleak environments. In fact, while the type of enemy is different for both mangas (Titans in Shingeki no Kyojin, 'Invaders from Space' in Bokurano), the actual nature of both opposing sides actually does get eerily similar, right to their origins, weak spots and the like.

Attack on Titan and Naruto have a very detailed and expanding worldbuilding and storytelling that has both similarities and also differences while overall being on the same page. Such as that the two protagonists have a hidden power within them, where at the beginning it is considered hostile by their friends and allies, and this puts them in contrast to the world, while later they use it to their advantage and accept them for what they are, however eventually the narrative changes into Eren having to go against everyone to save his friends while Naruto embraces everyone to do the same, in general Attack on  read more

The monsters featured here are horrifyingly ENORMOUS and hungry for human flesh. 2. The setting in both series are on a sudden brink of destruction/apocalypse caused by the monster attack. 3. Humans struggle and fight for survival. 3. Lots of body horror, gore and deaths. 4. Highly detailed art.

Dark, shounen action/fantasy manga. Both are about boys caught up in a violent world full of monsters who are trying to eradicate humans (goblins in Iron Knight and titans in SNK). The main protagonist lost his mother as a child and has an odd relationship with his father. He also has a very strong bond with his female childhood friend. The main character unintentionally acquires powers in order to fight the monsters and is determined to save as many people as he can.

Manga that might be action shounen, but it certainly doesn't skim on depth of the characters, with cast that is not divided just into "good" and "evil", a protagonist that selfish and willing to follow his goal with disregard to consequences, the plot sometimes delving into more philosophical area.

Two of the most mindblowing mysteries I've read, where every detail feels intricately planned from the beginning. When you go through them a second time, it feels almost like a completely different story than your first read. They both deal with heavy topics and thought-provoking themes, though their stories are very different. AoT puts a lot more focus on action whereas Umineko is more of a detective novel.
