Phantom Seer is wasted potential if I've ever seen it. I cannot believe Weekly Shonen Jump cancelled this series and I can't understand why they did either. The story was literally just starting to pick up and get into the major stuff. We're talking intriguing villains, longer than usual battles where the good guys seemingly have little to no chance at winning, answers to questions we've had since the series began. We got to this point and then the series abruptly ends. I'll never get to know the cool looking villains that were teased. Not to mention, the art in this series was easily among ... the best in the entire magazine.

Well, goodbye Phantom Seer. I wish you were in a magazine that actually appreciated you. I hope Togo Goto and Kento Matsuura take their talents to such a magazine.

While I do think it was promising , I do understand why it got axed .
I feel that the story past chapter 20 became a lot more focused and was way more enjoyable than the first 20 chapters .

My problems with those first 20 chapters were as follows

1st The power system is not expained very well and some power ups feel unearned .

2nd Although the writer tried to make the main character unique with a certain character trait which I feel made the story have more unessecary dialogue and was just not executed well and furthermore I feel that it was retconned by ... chapter 20. I felt that his backstory and powers were enough to differintiate him from other main characters.

3rd The first 20 chapters felt very generic and did not lean on the horror elements as much as I wanted it to.

4th The comedy is most times unessecary and kinda drags the pacing
down and in general the pacing felt very bad in this manga .

Final Notes : This may be an unpopular opinion but he should have just made the main character from the extra chapter the real main character in phantom seer and have that special chapter as a chapter 1. I feel that way that the story would stand out more from jjk and there could have been a romance subplot with the blindfold lady like chainsaw man .

Phantom Seer in a few words is like getting invited by your friend's birthday party and he promised a full-blown-out party with all sorts of food. Then the day comes and it is the second most disappointing day ever. The first being the day of your birth.

The story starts out promising, sort of a way to implement different kinds of unique stories which... never happened. It should have been the perfect way to focus on human nature disguised as phantoms. But nah, instead it focuses on the most uninteresting way possible. Instead of focusing on its strengths, it focuses more on the shounen formula. Which ... isn't bad, but just disappointing.

The characters are pretty bland and forgettable. Their development is pretty basic. Some are too "how tf did you change that quickly" moments. Overall, pretty weak cast.

Art is great, it's amazing. It's probably one of the best in Jump's current titles.

My enjoyment is minimal. The comedy didn't land on my funny bone because almost all of them are forced and just there for the sake of it. The serious and dangerous moments don't really feel like it because of how disconnect I've felt with the casts. Even the villains don't feel dangerous, and they feel threatening because of the art, not because of how the story portrays them.

Overall, a disappointing manga that didn't really get its time to shine because of how quickly it got axed. I don't really recommend reading this, but check out the artist at least. The artist's art is pretty d*mn great.
