Shingeki no Kyojin and Terra Formars takes place in fictional worlds where there are monsters at war with them that threatens their existence. The main male protagonists also has a dark past with tragedy that made them become whom they are in the present. Among it horror and sci-fi/fantasy elements, both series also explores relationships between comrades on the battlefield. There is a distinctive amount of violence represented in both series to show the grim reality of their war. Both series' main antagonists also has mysterious origins in regards to their psychology, abilities, and motivations.
Humanity is facing it's biggest challenge yet, a threat that might kill all humans on earth. The main theme for both of these series is exactly that. Humanity has to fight for it's survival. Both manga feature a group of main characters that are among the few that fight for the survival of man kind. This is not your ordinary story, the maincharaters are far from indestructible, because the threat they face is beyond most peoples' power. If you like stories where the characters have to fight for survival and are the only hope for savior, than these series are for you!
