Hey sir, sorry I haven't replied in so long I've just been a bit busy.

Have you been keeping up with any of the new animes this year? I've been starting a lot but I usually only have the time to finish a few lol.

I played a DS Havest Moon game recently called The Tale of Two Towns, it's not bad, it focuses more on cooking than farming though. Have you played it?

A new Touhou game came out a while ago and it was really good lol. I really enjoy playing them, but I'm terrible at them.

I was watching Ippo during the summer, I really enjoyed it but I haven't gotten around to finishing it yet. Have you ever read Tomorrow's Joe? It's a really good boxing manga and possibly one of the first sports manga or at the very least the first boxing manga.

There's a sequel to Fate/ Stay Night being translated at the moment, I can't wait lol. I haven't been playing very many visual novels either, the last one I played was Danganronpa. It's not too bad actually, the anime was pretty bad for it though lol.

Did you watch the Kimi No Iru Machi anime?

I noticed you really like both the Slam Dank anime and manga. Just curious, about how much of the anime covers compared to the manga? I know it doesn't cover EVERYTHING but I was just curious if it still covers a whole lot.

I'm asking since I saw your review for the manga and I'm interested in the anime.

Front Mission was never meant to be fun, it was supposed to be like watching a documentary about World War II, and again, the Japanese versions took it more seriously than the Americans, and the mangas are not adaptions, they're supposed to fill in the blanks for what were not explained in-game, for example: we know Royd's fiancee died in FM1, but do we see signs of their relationship before the game, no, so refer to the Japan-only FM1 manga. All of those stuff we read and see in this manga are to show that War is Hell.
Huckebein01 Oct 5, 2012 8:57 AM
I never heard of clones in Front Mission, you must be thinking of Evolved, my friend, so don't, because it is a disgrace to Front Mission, and the colorful personalities for characters are for American versions, in Japan, they're shell-shocked like real-life soldiers after a war, like Elsa from 4, in America, she's calm, but in Japan, especially in the Japan-only book FM4 Elsa, she took up drugs to calm herself over killing people, which the American versions mutilated.

Hello, new guy here, here to tell you about Front Mission, you said it was supposed to be about mech action, it's not all that, it's mainly a political drama akin to 24 since the creator of the series, found Westernized storytelling to be good. All those stuff you read are basically the horrors of war, which you can't explicitly see since it would be too bad to see them in games, even Japan has to abide to that, so the creator, and his team of the best of the best in Japan's literary world, have written these manga to show what the games could not, and to know more on Front Mission, here are these links:

Sorry for finding your review of Dog Life and Dog Style not helpful, but you apparently don't appreciate how Front Mission is: it is supposed to be as realistic as the real world.

Hey, sorry I haven't got writing back to you in so long! I've been just a bit busy the last while but now I'm free again lol.

I'll need to try out Dragon Quest 8 if it's anything like Pokemon. Funny enough I haven't played Pokemon for years but since I started university I started again. A few people played in it the dorm I lived in as well as a few old friends from high school. I haven't been playing it since Ruby/Sapphire but just recently I bought White and it's been pretty fun.

Yeah, I never played many JRPG's but after starting Persona I've got totally into them. There seems to be a lot on the PS3 now though, a friend of mine had such as Trinity Universe, which wasn't half bad.

Have you played any of the Harvest Moon/Rune Factory series by the way? Harvest Moon is a farming game whereas Rune Factory is a mix of farming and RPG, with grinding and dungeon crawling. They're really fun games, I've been playing them since last year with Harvest Moon on the game cube and right now I'm playing Harvest Moon: Tides of Density on the Wii and I'm totally hooked on it.

Ah, I was totally confused the first time I played Morrowind lol, I had no idea what was going on. I'll need to play it again soon.

Cool, which Touhou game did he get?

Yeah, I've been watching maybe 5-10 a season and in general you'll get about 2 decent ones and one brilliant anime. Fate/ Zero was the last really good anime out; Accel World and Sword Art Online have been equally good. In general though I watch older anime, mainly mech series' lately and most of the manga I've been reading has been between the 60's and 80's. I don't have a particular bias to newer series', it's just the older stuff in general is just a bit better.

Have you heard of Umineko by the way? I just finished both Visual novels, and a fan disc, for it a while ago and it was amazing! It's got into Agathia Christie novels as well lol. Have you read any of her stuff? I just finished her first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles and it was brilliant. I've actually just bought her second book, (The Secret Adversary), and I'm really looking forward to it.

Also yeah, it was pretty good, it was a two part OVA set during the arc were Haruto goes to see Eba on Tokyo. Have you seen it yet?
charspetcat Jun 30, 2012 4:32 PM
Yeah, I might start reading it, I haven't been reading much manga lately and as for anime I'm pretty much behind everything I'm watching weekly. I've been playing Umineko lately and I was playing through a few of the old Kirby games with a friend.

I have Dragon Quest 5 on my DS, (I heard it inspired Pokemon so I had to get it lol). Are the other games anything like Pokemon?

I'm not too sure actually, I only got my Wii recently and I still have a lot of games to complete on it. On top of that I always wait a while for consoles to fall in price a bit before I buy them. What about you?

Ah yes, I noticed in Morrowind that killing a mud crab takes ages lol. I was wondering why I couldn't kill it, but that must have been the reason. So as you level your hit rate increases?

It is mainly a bullet hell game but there's a few spin-off games that are fighting games. There's an example of the game play, I've been playing them for almost two years and I'm still rubbish at them lol. I can complete easy mode but I'm still struggling with the later stages in normal. There's 6 stages in all and by about the 5th on normal I usually lose all a few continues and you really need them on the 6th stage. They're worth checking out if you're into arcade style games that are all about high scores and what not.

I didn't play them as much when I was in university but I've been catching up now that I have a bit more free time. I want to play all of Umineko, Higurashi and a few titles by Overdrive.

Have you been watching any of the new anime out lately? I was watching like 12 at one point but I just couldn't keep up when my finals rolled around and now I'm really far behind and I have no motivation to catch up lol.
charspetcat Jun 24, 2012 5:17 AM
I know it was obvious that Haruto was going to end up with Eba but the reason I was so annoyed was because it presented a golden opportunity for originality. Rather than making the main character end up with the main heroine it would have been a lot more surprising to have them go their separate ways. After all, by that point in the manga Eba and him were hardly in contact at all and it just felt so forced when they go back together. But yeah, it really is dragging, I've actually fired in on hold for now and I'm going to wait until it ends. Also, is Princess Lucia any good? I've heard about it but I haven't read any of it yet.

I though Blue Dragon and Dragon Quest were in some way related, but it must be just the character designs. I've been meaning to get back in to playing Dragon Quest 5, that game is amazing.

I'd highly recommend you to try the Zelda series again lol. I never owned a N64, but I knew someone who did so I used to play the Ocarina of Time, which I would argue is one of the best games I've ever played. I later got it on my Gamecube with the Wind Waker, (another brilliant game) and I got a collectors game with Majora's Mask and Zelda 1 and 2, which are all really great games, (2 is a bit iffy though lol). I've also completed the Twilight Princess on game cube but I own the Wii version and at the moment I'm playing Skyward Sword. As for the game boy versions I've played parts of Link's Awakening, the Minish Cap, Link to the Past, Four Swords and the Phantom Hour Glass and they're all really great games. I'd highly recommend you to try them out again sometime, they're really fun games.

A friend on my course at University said she was a fan of Avatar but apart from that I haven't seen much of it, (bar a few screen caps here and there). I seen the sequel on an anime site though, I'll need to give them a look.

I'm usually not to critical as far as graphics go, as long as I can tell what is going on I'm fine with any. But yeah, compared to Oblivion and Skyrim it may be harder to appreciate Morrowind.

I haven't really been playing as many console games lately, (bar Dragon's Dogma). I've actually been playing a series a lot on my PC called Touhou, have you ever heard of it?

Also, have you played any visual novels lately?
charspetcat Jun 21, 2012 3:54 AM
I just liked the idea in Kimi no Iru Machi that the main character ended up with an unpredictable heroine rather than just forcing him together with the main one. When he actually did get back together with her it felt very forced and it put me of the series a bit. I do like Eba though but when I was reading it I couldn't help but feel that there relationship was already over. Oh yeah, just when I'm writing about it, have you seen the OVA?

I haven't read Good Ending, is it any good?

Oh Blue Dragon, the one that Akira Toriyama done the art for. Is it in any way related to the Dragon Quest series? I was playing the 5th Dragon Quest game on my DS about a year ago and it was amazing, I really need to finish it sometime.

I'm the same, I got more games than I could play lol, I bought a lot of random ones that were on sale like a fishing game for the PS2 and some of the Zelda games. Have you played any of the Zelda series?

I just finished Dragon's Dogma the other day and I have to say it has one of the most confusing and odd endings I've ever seen in a video game. It was half because of what actually happened and the other half was because the story isn't explained or developed very well. I have a new game + now and I was thinking of doing a few of the quests I couldn't do at the start. Overall though, it was very fun, the story just wasn't great.

I actually just watched Angel's Egg the other day, (which is now my favourite anime), and the artist/co-creator was Yoshitaka Amano who does a lot of the art for the FF games. Mamoru Oshii was the main director and he done Ghost in the Shell and Akira so it goes without saying how amazing he is as a director.

I always play as a Red Guard simply because they can get an Afro. I know it sounds stupid, but I always thought the Afro looked bad ass. As well as that, they also use rogue-like skills and I always enjoy playing as an Archer/Rogue class with Light amour, a bow, daggers and high stealth. What class do you normally play as?

I've seen it come up on a few anime sites, I've never actually seen any of the Avatar series but I've heard good things. What's it about anyway?

I really want to check out Morrowind, I've heard a lot of good things. As for Call of Duty, I've never been a big fan of FPS games so I've only had the experience of playing it at a friends house and it was pretty boring to the be honest. I've heard the series is really hated but it seems to sell really way, almost everyone I know has it.

I don't really play many modern games though, I'm more a fan of the PS2 and the game boy personally. Although with that said I do play the DS, PSP a lot and the Wii the odd time. I play my Xbox on and off, Dragon's Dogma is probably the first game I've played on it since Skyrim. I don't have a PS3 but I play a few odd games at a friends play from time to time like Trinity Universe and what not. I don't hate modern consoles or anything, it's just I didn't buy my Wii and Xbox 360 until recently and I'm still stuck in the last generation lol.
