Hmm, the finale actually felt kinda heartwarming.

She's home again and pretty much concludes her journey. I want to protect that girl's smile

Well a good ending at least the main guy(we) managed to persuade her to keep trying which was nice to see.
Making this an ok ending of this anime.
It's good to see them ending up together.

Beautiful episode, so sweet and heartwarming. I feel really happy now. ^_^

Goddamn, These 4 minutes were literally better than everything Fuuka pulled in terms of 'romance' . XDDD

7/10, really sweet series, people hate it for no reason. I also need to find the song.

Last girl was the best one for sure.

5/10 for this short.

Still liked the first girl the best! Nice ending, but I still think Pillow Boys did a better job with this type of anime.

Here us hoping Roommates next season will be better! Overall 7/10!
So glad that I'm not a huge manga reader, because the manga readers WHINE WAY TOO MUCH and have to RUIN every adapted anime for the ANIME ONLY WATCHERS!

I certainly liked the song and the girl but they could really expand on ending, the way they did it felt kinda bland.

I loved first girl, I hate the second. The third one was okay-ish. It wasn't bad series but it wasn't anything close to special.

So I decided to watch the whole series since it finally ended. Really bad but a part of me found some enjoyment in it.

So the 3 arcs were

1 the girl next door
2 the little sister
3 the childhood friend

I enjoyed the last arc, i wouldn't mind if someone made an entire show just about those last 4 episodes.

Anyone think that there was a story to this show? I think that the main guy meet the first girl but she eventually died or left him. He then became depressed so the little sister helped him get back to his old self. He then quit his job and started to follow his dreams, which is when he met the childhood friend. He then helps her out with her depression and they end up becoming a couple. That would be my headcanon at least.

3/10 favorate girl is the childhood friend and least favorite would be the first one.

^The show did a poor job of conveying that you're a different guy in each arc.

That montage was a wonderful bit of vintage 2000's anime cheese. And I can always go for some good anime cheese. Made me think of Wallace & Gromit: "Hmm... See what you think. Wensleydale? Stilton? I don't know, lad. It's like no cheese I've ever tasted." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0qagA4_eVQ

Alternately laughing at it and enjoying it as intended, this was a thoroughly enjoyable show and I actually watched it twice every week, so I've now already rewatched it. Watching One Room is like gazing at a hearthfire in winter.

Wait.... did he/"I" propose to her? Because that's what it looked like. At the very least, they're living together, it seems. Also, neither the song nor her voice nor her looks are terrible. So why was she rejected?

Pillow Boys? Mate, that show was shit. If you want a POV show that was done properly, watch Issho ni H Shiyo..... well, the first episode of Issho ni H Shiyo. Yeah, it's a hentai, but it's still the best POV anime around.

Oh, the bad reviews given for this show are really hilarious.

It was short but enjoyable. I came for Kantoku's design. And to the people that thinks it's a harem, it's not. We are three different MC's each arc. Even the MC's room is different.

Question: Is it the same main character guy(that the viewer is put in the POV of) throughout?

In any case I have mixed thoughts on this series, mostly leaning towards it was crap.
Warning: Loli is loyal, and may become aggressive.

Despite the common outline and accordingly cliché tropes, it was an enjoyable series. The character designs were superb (as was the animation, despite the lack of significant action) and the voice actresses also did a good job. As far as overall enjoyment goes, the final arc was probably the best one, dealing with the conflict of aspirations and reality. It is actually surprising, how well the situation was revolved, given the obvious time constraints. Despite this, the heroine of the first arc, Yui, remains my favourite.

I only wish the series would have felt a bit more like an anime, as opposed to a well-animated dating simulator.

I finally made the effort to power through the final arc and wow I'm surprised. I'll be honest, I was done with this show after the second arc but the 4 min eps managed to keep me in and I'm glad it paid off. I know the whole voiceless protag lets you put yourself in their shoes but yeah I don't think it quite works with an anime medium. Actions speak more than words but we don't have any words from our man lol.

Third arc carried this series with the theme of never giving up against harsh realities. The story felt more comprehensive, the girl wasn't annoying, and thanks to the premise, I paid attention to her song and enjoyed it more too. Of course, the kantoku character design was on point throughout. Anyway, the other two-thirds of the show weren't so good but for anyone interested, the final four eps brings out the best of this strange little take on a fast-tracked romance filled with the cliches that you hate (and love).

So with that last art it's time for appraisal of the girls, eh?

I don't do lolis and the music girl is alright, but Yui just has more of that "girl next door" vibe which I always dug so I'd go with her haha

I enjoyed it. I would have preferred the first girl to win, but the winning girl had her charms i guess. One thing i hated about this show was, why did they even bother introducing the first two girls at all? After their initial 4 episodes or so, they just get tossed to the side and pretty much never see them again lol.

"I didn't run away. I was just resting a while." This episode really hit home as I could relate to Moka a bit and felt encouraged right along with her by that.

Well this actually turned out to be a pleasant surprise. While I poked fun at the first person self-insert, the girls really did grow on me. There was a personal touch to it and it was a bit amusing how there would be moments where I'd do something irl and the girls would coincidentally react right on cue (i.e. I'd yawn and imouto goes "Is this boring?"). And obviously loli imouto was best girl. Hell they all were. I mean, why wouldn't I want to share every day with a girl like any of these three?

7/10

Edit:

After reflecting on it a bit more, Moka's arc really did resonate with me a great deal. As an artist myself, I understand how discouraging it can be to get constantly rejected. In all honesty, it's not a pragmatic way to live as it requires unrivaled passion and determination to follow through on.

What really got me the most, however, is how the self-insert protagonist decides to write the novel. The promise was that he'd write it after she debuted, but the message this sends is truly heartwarming. That, even if your dream isn't realized the way you were hoping it to be, the most important thing is to follow through on what you believe in. Even if the novel never sells, there's more meaning in writing it precisely because you love what you're doing. I've often thought about what will happen when I reach my deathbed. Will I be able to look back and say that giving up on my dreams and passions was worth it? Would I be able to pass on peacefully knowing I gave up the essence of what made me feel alive? Certainly I don't believe in pursuing something fruitlessly, but I think it's better to put it to rest properly before trying to move on. The regret of leaving it unfinished only begets bitterness.

I know it's plenty to think about and mostly none of it has anything to do with the actual content of One Room, but I have to give this props for conjuring up all of these thoughts even a week later.

Score adjusted to 8/10.
