Seven Deadly Manga Sins: Combo Battle

Challenge Period: January 01, 2024 to December 15, 2024 11:59 p.m. (PST)

Rules
(How to play will be explained in the next post)

General

  • Only post Sign-Up/Turn-in Forms in this thread.
    All other posts go in the Challenge Discussion thread.
  • Please do not delete your post after signing up; it messes up the rest of the posts/links.
    If you want to withdraw, please replace your post content with "Withdrawn" or leave it as is.
  • Please carefully read the rules, "How to Play" guide, and FAQ before asking questions.

Sign-Up Forms

  • Your sign-up form must be posted in this thread for you to be considered a challenge participant.
  • Each manga can only be used once within the challenge.
  • You must read at least the last 5 volumes or 50 chapters (if not physically published) of the manga you choose to use for the challenge (if you're not reading it in its entirety) during the challenge period.
    If the manga is still being published, read until the most recently published chapter.
  • Manga, Manhua, Manhwa, One-shots & Doujinshi are allowed.
  • Light Novels and Novels are not allowed.
  • Re-reading is allowed.
  • Please specify the dates you started/completed each manga in the sign-up form.

Turn-In Forms

  • Once you have completed the challenge, use the turn-in form and post it as a new reply.
  • Turn-ins should be posted once and they shouldn't be deleted afterwards.
  • Confirm all items/details are correct before posting. Once you turn-in your challenge, you can't continue working on it.

Forms

  • You can change your form freely until you turn-in.
  • Only one form can be worked on at a time.
  • Only your first completed attempt will be added to the list of participants who completed the challenge.
  • For posted forms that are unreadable or missing much of the required information, you will be asked to fix this before we proceed with the inspection.
  • Use a readable font size/color.
  • More info about the challenge in the "How to Play" guide.

How to Play the Seven Deadly Manga Sins: Combo Battle
Manga Reading Challenge!

This year's challenge will be RPG-themed. You will battle against one or more of the Seven Deadly Sins while completing your chosen items.
  • There is a total of 7(?) bosses, each one of them has 25 health points you will damage by reading manga and completing prompts.
  • Each challenge item is worth 1 or 2 points of damage (look at the challenge list for more details).
  • You can combine different items! You can choose up to 3 different items to combine in a single attack, thus needing to find a manga fitting all of the chosen items but dealing more damage at once.
  • Each challenge item can be used only once, either alone or in a combination.
  • After defeating all seven of the Deadly Sins, there will be an additional challenge, if you're up for it stay tuned.
  • Each one of the bosses has a special requirement you have to abide to while trying to defeat them.
If you want to defeat them all, you'll have to plan wisely as you run out of items to combine!

Signing Up
  1. Go to the Sign Up Code post, copy the provided code for each boss you want to defeat in its entirety, and paste it as a new reply to this thread.

  2. Edit your post to replace the capitalized text with your information.

  3. The following fields should be filled in now: Link to your list and Completed Manga.

  4. Choose a difficulty based on the number of bosses you want to defeat (and the number of manga you want to read)
    　　Villager: 1 boss;　Traveller: 2 bosses;　Adventurer: 3 bosses;　Warrior: 4 bosses;　Knight: 5 bosses;　Hero: 6 bosses;　Legendary Hero: 7 bosses.
    The average number of manga to defeat each boss is 7. Could be more or less depending on the items and combinations you choose.

  5. Edit your post to fill in your chosen difficulty.
    This can be changed later.

  6. Determine which of the bosses you want to defeat if you don't intend to defeat all of them.

  7. (optional) Grab a participant banner from our Banners List and show it off on your profile/forum signature.
Completing Challenge Items
  1. Begin completing manga challenge items and edit them into your sign-up post. As explained above, you can combine multiple items (up to 3) to deal more damage in one attack. For example:

    DATE is when you started/finished each manga.
    ID_NUM is found in the manga entry's URL. MANGA_TITLE is the main title of the entry. DAMAGE_DONE is the sum of the damage dealt by the items combined.
    This specific entry would be good to deal damage to Wrath (it's a Drama), Sloth (published after 2015), Lust (has a love confession) and Pride (if you'd give it 8+).

  2. Continue combining manga together until you have enough damage to defeat the chosen boss, while also fulfilling its requirements. Remember, each manga can only be used once.



  3. The items do not need to be completed in any specific order, but it is easier to plan ahead of time what you're going to read, especially if you wish to defeat all of the bosses, as the combinations get harder to complete.

  4. If you use a title other than the main title, please add it between parenthesis after the main title.

Turning In
  1. Once all your items are completed, verify that all information in your sign-up form is filled in.

  2. Copy and paste the following text into a new reply in this thread.

Challenge List with Explanations


  • Screenshots are suggested as evidence for some items which require information that could change by the time/after you turn-in.
  • The provided suggestions are manga that we approved to be valid.
    You can still choose to use titles not tagged with the required elements at your own risk.
    If it isn't apparent based on cover/description/character description, you may provide some sort of proof for it (for easier inspection).
    That goes for info (like age, etc.) that might not be apparent, as well.
  • MRC Staff Jokers: Jokers are staff's picks you can use in your challenge as a "wild card". A joker does NOT need to fulfill the boss's requirement, it is always valid. Jokers deal 4 damage and you can use a maximum of 1 joker for each boss.
    The amount of jokers you have available depend on the difficulty chosen.
    (Villager: 1 Joker, Traveller: 1 Joker, Adventurer: 2 Jokers, Warrior: 2 Jokers, Knight: 3 Jokers, Hero: 3 Jokers, Legendary Hero: 4 Jokers)
    Leave them under MRC Staff Jokers in your form, and delete the ones you didn't read when turning in.
    However: You don't have to use them as wild cards (and thus a replacement).
    If you want to read and fit them into a requirement, you can read as many of them as you want and the restriction above won't apply in this case.
