PART 3 : FESTIVAL PREP
(AKA: Club Effort Challenge / GET READY FOR THE FESTIVAL!)
(IMPORTANT: The challenge period will vary per section once we move to AWCC)

　Getting ready for the festival is a task for everyone! There's a ton to be done, and many hands make light work. Pitching in to make everything as successful as possible is your goal. The festival is a big deal and all kinds of work needs to be done. You'll need to choose carefully how much you're going to do and which tasks you'll complete. Contributing to efforts across the spectrum will be necessary to make sure the festival goes smoothly. Time to get to it!

　　This part of the challenge features the opportunity to choose your own difficulty and requirements. You can decide how many anime you want to complete and select the appropriate number of Lists you will do the requirements from. For each 5 requirements you have, you must complete one List of Festival Preparations.

　To get started, decide how many items you want to complete. You can choose 5 for Easy, 10 for Medium, 15 for Hard, or 20 for Conquered. Once you know how many anime you'd like to watch, go ahead and select 1, 2, 3, or 4 Lists of Festival Preparations to complete.

　Every time a participant completes a List of Festival Preparations, the whole club earns progress towards bonus club points. Every participant will benefit if a lot of members sign up, then complete as many Lists of Festival Preparations as possible!

Festival Preparations Completed:
Easy: 1 List of Festival Preparations, for 5 items in total
Medium: 2 Lists of Festival Preparations, for 10 items in total
Hard: 3 Lists of Festival Preparations, for 15 items in total
Conquered: 4 Lists of Festival Preparations, for 20 items in total
　— There are extra requirements, you only need to do those required by your difficulty.
　— Only one difficulty should be completed and turned-in.
　— No second run (x2) available.
You cannot do more than the allowed amount of Lists (sections) by your difficulty.
　— You may NOT mix-and-match items from other Lists (sections).
　— Each item offers you two options to complete, so you must clearly indicate which of the options you use.
General rules apply.
Club Effort Goals:
Level 1: 100 Points - 0.25 pts
Level 2: 200 Points - 0.50 pts
Level 3: 300 Points - 0.75 pts
Level 4: 400 Points - 1.00 pts
Level 5: 500 Points - 1.25 pts
　— Goals are accumulated depending on the difficulty reached per participant that turns-in.
　— Each difficulty gives one point, with Easy being 1 and Conquered 4.

LIST 01. COMMITTEE FESTIVAL PREPARATIONS

　— The Lustrum Challenge is a look at a period of great evolution in the medium.

　— The Child Character Challenge focuses on the truly young protagonists. Must be on one of these lists: baby1, child1, baby2, or child2. State the character and link to their aniDB or A-P page.

[X] Make some magic with the rest of the committee as you figure out what the festival theme is.
Watch a Detective or Racing anime
　— The Police Cars Challenge brings together two themes in one.

　— These three franchise challenges are great for those who love magic.

[X] Pore over the school records for information on the most successful festivals in the past.

　— The Josei Challenge is perfect for the discerning viewer looking for realistic portrayals of relationships. The Demographics Challenge involves watching anime aimed at a variety of groups, including Seinen, which is primarily focused on younger adult men.

　— Series Collections contain all the anime related to a specific series, making them great for series fans. Creators Collections and Franchise-Based Challenges do not count.

PART 4 : CLASS COMPETITION
(AKA: Team Battle Challenge / OUR CLASS IS THE BEST!)
(IMPORTANT: The challenge period will vary per section once we move to AWCC)

　This is it: the festival is in full swing and you've got to give it your all alongside all of your classmates. Only through coordination and effort will your class be able to reach the top of the rankings, and you know that if you slack off, everyone in the Class will suffer.

　The Class Competition is a Team Battle that will only take place in AWCC. Once the 2025 MAL Bunkasai ends, this part of the challenge will become active.

　The Enrollment Period to join a class will be from November 15, 2025 to November 30, 2025 (UTC-4) in the Open House thread at AWCc (here). Class Assignments (teams) will be announced shortly after the Enrollment Period ends, at which point the watch period for this part will begin. Classes will be assigned randomly, with Classmates sorted roughly evenly into their Classes based on the number of anime they've completed to date in 2025. There is no guarantee of placement in a Class after the Enrollment Period has closed, so make sure you sign up during the allotted time!

　Classmates have to work together to complete Key Scenes (specific requirements), making up Arcs (sets of all requirements). All Classes will be ranked in order of their Arc completions. The higher a Class is ranked, the more Club Bonus Points the Classmates will earn. (Ties will be broken based on progress towards the next Arc's completion.)

　This is a TEAM CHALLENGE. In order to take the top spot in the Class Competition, it will be necessary to work together to coordinate which Key Scenes each Classmate will do. To help facilitate this, each Class will have a spreadsheet (sample) assigned to them. This will help track all Classmates and Key Scenes. Any coordination beyond this is up to the individual Class.

　You will help your Class achieve victory by completing Key Scenes of specialized items. You may complete any items from the listings, each one a new Key Scene. You can complete up to eight Key Scenes. At the end of the event, the team with the greatest number of Arcs (sets of all 16 Key Scenes) filled will be declared the winner and granted bonus points. (Points will be distributed by team placement, with none for coming in last!)

Key Scenes:
Delinquent: 2 items in total
Wallflower: 4 items in total
Supporting: 6 items in total
Main: 8 items in total
　— There are extra requirements, you only need to do those required by your difficulty.
　— Only one difficulty should be completed and turned-in.
　— No second run (x2) available.
Previously completed series aren't allowed. Neither is re-watching.
　— Series previously started can't be used.
　— Airing can be used, but you must complete the series, so you can only turn-in the challenge after the series has finished airing.

IMPORTANT: This part does not start until the challenge has moved to AWCC and the team matchups have been made.
Due to the complexity of some of the items, please feel free to ask on the AWCc Discord (Open House channel) if an anime will be valid for an item.
　— In light of the nature of Class scoring, it is strongly advised that you work with your Classmates—the most flexible and coordinated Classes will do the best in the final rankings. This part of the challenge is as much about teamwork as it is about finding anime to watch.

KEY SCENES
(You can just find an anime that fits the criteria. There's no need to watch during the 2025 MAL Bunkasai period.)

Watch an anime that has two characters with a -dere personality
　— Two characters from the anime must be found on the following tag lists: dandere, kuudere, tsundere, or yandere. State the characters used. Character must appear listed on the provided tag list and their site (not necessarily on MAL).

[X] Open the festival
Watch an anime where a School Cultural Festival takes place only during an odd episode number
　— State the episode. The anime must appear on the provided tag list. The listed episode number(s) must be odd (1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and so on). If any episode number is even, the anime is invalid.

[X] Run the class exhibit together
Watch an anime featuring Teamwork that started airing in any decade other than the one in which you joined MAL
　— Anime must appear on the tag list. Decades you might have joined during: 2000-2009, 2010-2019, 2020-2025. For example: if you joined MAL in 2018 you can't watch an anime that started airing between 2010 and 2019.

[X] Just be yourself
Watch an anime where characters Perform In A Concert and a main character has an unusual color hair
　— State the character used. Character must be listed as main on MAL. Unusual colors are like blue, purple, pink, cyan, green, or multicolored.

[X] Confront a rival
Watch an anime that started airing before 2025 and had a MAL tag removed in 2025
　— State the tag used. The specified tag cannot have been re-added. Tag refers to genres, themes, and demographics. Anime must have a start date of December 31, 2024 or earlier. Tag must have been removed on January 01, 2025 or later. On the HoF, these changes are tracked on individual anime pages (anime.jhiday.net/hof/anime/MALID). For example: Kill la Kill had the Super Power tag removed in 2024.

[X] Enjoy a family visit
Watch an anime where a main character is close family to another listed character that started airing the year you joined MAL
　— State the characters, relationship, and source. Valid sources include MAL character pages, direct character names, and anidb relations (Kousaka Kirino). At least one character must be listed as main on MAL. Close family relationships include siblings, (grand)parents and (grand)children, as well as spouses. More distant relations are not valid. No edge cases.

[X] Capture a memory
Watch an anime that needs a better picture and is MAL tagged with one of your top 5 mean or weighted genres on your MAL Stats
　— Anime must appear on the anidb tag list. State the MAL tag used. MAL tag refers to genres, themes, and demographics. Screenshots showing your username and top 5 mean or weighted favorite genres on MAL is required. To find your stats: Go to your profile -> a bit below your profile picture, click "Statistics" -> "Genres" tab. Make sure to select all options (Genres, Explicit Genres, Themes, and Demographics).

[X] Take your break
Watch an anime with a demographic that has the same number of genres and themes.
　— The anime must have a demographic listed while also having at least one genre and one theme. The number of genres and themes must be equal. If the anime only has a demographic, with no genre and theme, it cannot be used.

[X] Bond with your classmates
Watch an anime where characters are at least two of the following: Carefree, Charismatic, Hard-Working, or Helpful
　— State the two tags used. The anime must appear on both tag lists.

[X] Keep up the festival energy
Watch an anime with exactly half as many words in its main title as your username has characters
　— Words are anything separated by a space. This includes most single letters/numbers/characters, with the exception of the - ♡ ♂ ☆ ♭ + # and ! characters. When dividing, round up. For example: myuniquename (12 characters) would require a 6 word main title while SheyCroix (9 characters) would be a 5 word main title. The Word Count Challenge checklist can be of help.

[X] Go on a resupply run
Watch an anime with the same number of episodes as its episode length
　— Number of episodes and episode length must be taken from MAL.

[X] Witness a showdown between a delinquent and the president
Watch an anime with Delinquents rated below or a Class President rated above your MAL profile Anime Stats Mean Score
　— State the list used: delinquent or president. Anime must be on the tag list for delinquent. State the character used if using the class president tag list.
