Animations aren't noteworthy, but the overall art style is nice and detailed enough. As the show focuses a lot on Slice of Life, there's less need for complex animations. The spell effects are quite pretty though.

There isn't much of a story. It's a mostly generic fantasy isekai featuring a video game world. The MC dies, gets sucked into a game they were crushing as an OP character, becomes that character and now they can pretty much do whatever they want as they explore the world in their new form.

Once NPC characters are now normal beings and so the MC spends most of her time interacting with the various characters, including her NPC children, who are now regular people with their own personalities.

There's no real overarching story to talk about, so an epic world of fantasy with great adventures this is not.

The entire show is extremely wholesome, and you won't have to worry about much tragedy and stuff.


Characters - 7/10

A pretty likeable bunch. The MC is a capable woman who's also quite confident and intelligent. She fully understands her own overpowered status and will happily utilize her skills to get stuff done.

The various characters she meets are all nice enough, and some even have a decent personality. But that's all there is really. A bunch of wholesome characters that will bring a smile to your face but won't really make you feel much beyond that.

This show reminds me of the early seasons of Slime with its wholesomeness. It's a very nice "feel-good" anime that isn't going to wow you with anything specific, but will likely put a smile on your face and help your relax after a hard day's work.

I don't hate this anime, but I felt very mixed when I was watching it. Mostly because Leadale felt very directionless in what it wanted to do. There's not really much of a story to it.

The plot of the show is Cayna is an overpowered MC that is now trapped in Leadale as her former self passed away in real life. Her real life self was on life support after being bed ridden in hospital for many years. However, the build up to the show unless you read a synopsis you wouldn't really know that as the anime doesn't really show it other than ... a scene that lasts a couple of seconds and a brief mention of liquid food diet in episode 1. In the final episode she briefly mentions she was hospitalized but in the final episode in the last 5 minutes it doesn't really matter. It would have been better to mention that way earlier on. I would have also liked if we got to see her life before the accident instead of it starting off with her in Leadale. The anime had an interesting build up / set up from episode 1 but they didn't even use it they waited until the last 5 minutes of the show to even mention it. So unless you read what the anime is about, all it looks like is OP Elf in a world and with lack of story from the beginning it feels very directionless.

The characters themselves are mostly fine, lot of them were pretty forgettable. Even the main character Cayna felt mostly forgettable as there isn't a lot setting her apart other than her just being strong. I will mention I do love her character design though. It's not over the top. The episodes themselves also felt pretty forgettable. They introduce a lot of new characters but there's no development with pretty much any of them. There was a Mermaid in around episode 9 that was introduced that you saw for a few minutes and then you they didn't really do anything with her after that other than leave her in the village. What was the point of that? I feel like it would have been better with fewer characters but the characters was more flushed out. I guarantee now that I've finished the show I'm going to immediately forget the entire cast as nothing about them stood out.

To me Leadale feels like a very watered down Sword Art Online. No matter how you feel about SAO, at least in SAO Kirito had a goal which was to escape the world he was trapped in by reaching the top floor. Whilst basic especially compared to todays standards, it's still a better story then what Leadale offers. Cayna is just roaming around the world doing basically whatever which does feel a bit dull occasionally. It would have been more interesting if they focused on the main goal which was travelling to the skill master towers to reactivate them and maybe have something happen after that. Pretty basic plot but at least it's something.

Like I said I didn't mind the watch. I don't regret starting the anime but if there's going to be a season 2 one day, I can't see myself watching it unless they have an actual goal to follow and fix the faults of Season 1 because in my eyes there's no real reason to watch the anime unless you want a slow burner / something to put on in the background as there's nothing that happens in In The Land of Leadale that requires you to pay attention to. If you skipped an episode or just straight up only had it on in the background you literally wouldn't miss anything important and you'd still be able to understand what's going on.

It has no plot. It is obvious that it was not meant to have a plot and just wanted to show some funny situations.

It has a nice art style but just got wasted with the trash writing.

All the characters were forgettable even the protagonist.

It is basically supposed to be a comedy show. Anything else is hard to justify. But even that it fails to do. It was never funny. I can't believe that whoever wrote this finds humor in having parents abuse their kids who adore them. This kind of humor repeated itself over and over. The humor doesn't work but that type of humor ... gets repeated. Just a trash show!
