Gokushufudou

Who would have ever thought that the most feared gangster of his time now spends his days as a modest househusband? Seemingly giving up the way of the yakuza, the legendary "Immortal Dragon" Tatsu, best known for his prolific skirmishes against rival gangs, has abruptly vanished. Unbeknownst to most, however, Tatsu is currently staying at an apartment with his wife, doing his best to live a peaceful life.

Donning his trusty apron, Tatsu is now striving to become an efficient homemaker. Because of this, he has mastered the required skills—be it cooking the most delicious dishes, making sure to get the best deals at supermarkets, and everything in between—garnering the surprise of both of his former subordinates and enemies alike. Despite being a man with quite a controversial past, Tatsu's new way of life will only be more eccentric from here on out!

To put it short – great for what it is, and is just what it tries to be. Nothing more, nothing less. If you're going for a masterfully crafted SoL with insane depth, this is not what you're looking for.

It's the opposite. Absurd and stupid humor that revolves around the same trope, but still keeps it creative enough to catch you by surprise and get a chuckle out of you every now and then. No meaningful story arcs that span across multiple episodes, meaning it demands very little attention from the viewer and can be watched in pretty much any order you want, once you're ... done with the character introductions. Casual lightly engaging comedy.

That is by no means a jab at it, although it does set the ceiling at right about the same height as a 90's American sitcom. But in a way, that's also the itch it scratches. Think of it as an anime equivalent for the likes of Family Guy and Paradise PD. Something to pass out watching on a Friday night while eating pizza absolutely smashed on your couch with your eyes crossed. Something you don't need to pay too much attention to, and don't need your brain to be operating at full capacity to get something out of. Ironically enough, that also gives it plenty of rewatch value, and also makes it a solid entry point for anyone who's skeptical about anime.

All in all, it has its time and place. But when the stars align, it delivers just what the situation calls for.

Mixed Feelings

the story and characters are good and all. but,my only issue is tha animation is too bad and i dont know why the opening has good animation so, why is the animation so terrible it made me think is this animation or animatic so many times. Almost the only animation made is the mouth, everything else remains constant. also shadows in most of the scenes are just lazy and bad. not only that alot of scenes has so much drawing mistakes. its like the only thing that holds the show is the story, i would normally give 1/10 for the animation but i give 6/10 ... just because it actually made me laugh several times and some scenes were fun to watch.

No way that this is considered a 7 (as of this moment). I really did not like this show, but it was as expected of a Netflix Original. How can they have so much money yet produce such low quality shows?
This review is not solely based on animation, but on just being unfunny, bland, and dumb. Even if the animation was average it would still be bad.

Enjoyment: 2/10 "Comedy" was not funny, the same few tropes over and over.
Sound: 1.5/10 The use of sound-effects were just like the animation, "stock sound effects", the soundtracks were below average (I sort through soundtracks and ops/eds after watching ... shows and add them to my music playlist, these were not good), the ed was bad, the op was actually good (added to playlist, raised sound from 1 to 1.5).
Characters: 3/10 The characters were flat and their actions were predictable due to the overused tropes.
Story: 3/10 Only for the concept, if you want something that has Yakuza doing normal things go watch Hinamatsuri.
Art: 3/10 Objectively, the backgrounds are average, but the manner in which the character's are drawn is very off-putting and low-effort.
"Animation": 1/10 barely can even call it animation, it just flashes with some movement of drawn panels (low FPS).

Overall 2/10
I only watched the first season. The manga may be good, I do not know if it is, but the anime is horrible.

Edit: Why was my grammar so horrible? Also fixed up some off-putting things about the review (I think I was in a grumpy mood when I wrote it :P).
