Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray Part 2

Ever since horse girl Oguri Cap left the small town of Kasamatsu to chase greater heights in Tokyo, she has rapidly gained attention with her remarkable results. Her goal to become the best horse girl in Japan seems within reach, but there is a rival in her way—another running prodigy named Tamamo Cross.

However, Tamamo is not the only threat to Oguri: several world-class racers from overseas are joining the Japan Cup, pushing the renowned race's competition to unprecedented levels. With the support from the people close to her and her intense desire to win, Oguri will do anything to conquer the Japan Cup and continue sprinting for the top.

Preliminary (5/10 eps)

If you enjoyed the first cour of Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray, you’ll likely enjoy this one as well.

The 2nd cour focuses mainly on the growing rivalry between Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross. While slightly shorter than the first, this cour delivers more intense races and a faster overall pace, with the occasional slice-of-life and comedic moments sprinkled in — a nice touch between the high-stakes competitions. For manga readers, this is a crucial part of the story and one of its emotional parts.

Plot & Storytelling:

-Oguri Cap no longer stands alone as the main character, as Tamamo Cross takes a much larger role, and her development ... here is satisfying, setting up important future events.
-The pacing is faster but steady, maintaining strong consistency throughout.
-New themes emerge that give the story a more mature and grounded tone, marking a clear evolution from the first cour’s lighter atmosphere.

Characters:

-The foreign Uma Musume get brief introductions, but they’re distinct enough to leave an impression — especially one who’s poised to play a major role this season.
-Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross share the spotlight beautifully, with Belno and the Tracen School girls still present often.

Art & Animation:

-Visually, it’s as stunning as ever. The art style fits the more seinen tone, creating a mature atmosphere distinct from Pretty Derby.
-The opening contains subtle spoilers if you know what to look for, a nice touch for fans who pay attention.

Sound & Voice Acting:

-It's a 10/10 still, every VA, every soundtrack fits perfectly, and it's nothing but professional quality as expected. - The ending theme is nothing but adorable, with Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross having a duet singing an emotional and heartfelt song. (I recommend finding the lyrics for it, as it gives good information about the closing of this 2nd cour).

TL;DR:
The 2nd cour of Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray maintains the strong storytelling of the first while turning up the intensity. The pacing is quicker, the races are even more exhilarating, and the visuals remain stunning. Fans of the manga — and the franchise overall — will find this cour a faithful and emotionally rewarding adaptation.

Personally, I think the story only gets better from here, and this cour proves why Cinderella Gray is one of the most underrated gems in recent anime.

So the thing with this anime is that racing girls are racing horses. Kind of obvious yeah, but there are levels of furry. Girls here have horse ears, but other than that they look and act like any human.

Thing is, they wear shoes with horse shoes on, why? They run on horse tracks, why? There are starting gates rather than starting blocks, why? They took horse racing, removed the horses and replaced them with girls, without changing anything else. But horses wear horse shoes because they have hooves, these girls have normal feet. And so on.

I feel like this should have been an anime ... about centaur girls, it might have made more sense then.

If you don't care about that sort of illogical world building or you like it, then you may enjoy the series.

Except for the core idea of having girls be race horses the plot seemed pretty standard with ok characters.

I just ended up annoyed with the horse thing.

There's good worldbuilding and bad worldbuilding. If you want to know what bad worldbuilding looks like. Have a peek at this.

It's taken horses and turned them into girls. Some girls? Special girls? All girls. Women are horses. That's it. Is that inherently bad? No, so how would it be good? Well, what would change? How would society change? How would the world be impacted by women running really fast?

Well, in this case, they have women run track. How? By taking real-world horse racing and replacing the images of horses with human girls running. That's it — no other change needed. Horses need stalls that open ... at the start sign. Why? Who cares? Not important! We don't care about such minor details! This is just eye candy and a bit of fun! Don't think. The audience is there to watch the anime, not think critically.

It's lazy.



A final note. The reason "Cinderella" is a protagonist in this is that she runs like Naruto. Yes. In a show about running. Our protagonist has bad running form. Really.
