Jigokuraku

Sentenced to death, ninja Gabimaru the Hollow finds himself apathetic. After leading a blood-soaked life, Gabimaru believes he deserves to die. However, every attempt to execute him inexplicably fails. Finally, Sagiri Yamada Asaemon, a fledgling member of a famed executioner clan, is asked to take Gabimaru's life; yet Sagiri makes no move to kill him as requested.

Insisting that Gabimaru will not die because of his love for his wife, Sagiri instead offers him the chance to obtain a full pardon for his crimes. If he can travel to the island of Shinsekyo and obtain the Elixir of Life—which supposedly grants immortality—and bring it back for the shogun, then his freedom will be assured.

But of the many who have traveled to Shinsekyo in search of the mythical Elixir, not a single person has returned sound of mind, if at all. Though unaware of the numerous dangers ahead, Gabimaru decides to accept the offer—alongside ten other death row convicts—in hope that he and his wife may finally live in peace.

I actually avoided this show expecting it to be another boring shounen series, and nothing really stood out at a glance when this came out, but with a recommendation of someone gave this a try. There were Fluid , clean , beautiful animation scenes combined with aesthetic characters that have personality / meaning. As the story progressed I got more attached and wanted to know what would happen next, the character development was unique as well. Strong sequencing of events to make everything understandable combined with suspense. Recommend as I can't really think of a major flaw after finishing the show, they did a ... good job.

Mixed Feelings

Total criminal Island

It's a really fun idea sending murders to an island with some security to make sure they don't run off and then just stuff happens and when stuff happens. It's the funnest violent. I think of it's Naruto if It was super violent and bloody.

And all of the characters are so f** character. I mean they are what they are and they are funny. They have some deep to them, but they're mostly so fun and extreme they are so good for the role on this killing Island.

Most of them are not irredeemable. It's like all of them have have some ... stuff happened to them that says, oh they have a reason to be who they are they are not totally bad, but that's a little kind of bad but now they at least killing for survival .

but the fighting animation is so fun and we are ready going to Naruto Shippuden power levels so it's just so cool.

The best thing is we have touching moment with the characters and we get to really know them before stuff is happening and the main guy is a wife guy, so at least he's not so bad.

real problem with anime is that it is 13 episodes, so it's not really enough to get my teeth in it to truly Enjoy it. I need more of the show it just doesn't feel finished it ends on a good Cliffhanger but it's just like I need more to really enjoy it.

What a major disappointment of adaptation from the manga. I honestly thought that the series will get a good animation considering the hype surrounding the manga. Yes, I already read the manga and it an okay series if you turn your brain off and enjoy the gore and the art. some of the flaw in the manga I thought the studio will correct it but guess not. let rate the series shall we.

PLOT (4)
The stories structure doesn't make sense. What I mean by that is the shogun want to gain immortality because there a rumor of an unknown charted island there is elixir of immortality ... that being told by people who turn into plant. The shogun send expedition to the island but fail and in second try one person alive but gradually turn into plant. So for the third expedition he send a criminal? and if they bought back the elixir the shogun will erase all their crime and be free. This not make sense because Why would the criminal give the elixir and not just drink it to gain immortality?. Oh there an executioner follow them you say, then why not just send them. There no reason to use the criminal when you have someone who are more loyal AKA the executioner.

CHARACTER (5)
The main character is a ninja that want to died at first but then suddenly remember he had a wife. The show really want you to think the character is deep but in reality they just one dimension personality that it would be better if the writer put more on thought on the plot instead. The best character is yuzuriha the ninja girl with a technique that will make me hard and also sagiri the main heroin for being a waifu material. Yes they the one who save this god damn show. I also like how the writer portray the villain and called the the island hell paradise, it really similar to our reality.

ANIMATION (3)
It not a berserk 2016 level of bad but it should have been better considering it create from studio mappa that create quality animation like jjk and chainsaw man. I guess they don't see the hype of the manga and give subpar animation. The only good thing is VA that really do a good job and the music are okay.

In conclusion, it got some nice idea but terrible execution, it not as great as people hype it up but I can see the appeal. Just turn your brain off, you will enjoy it if you think of it as gore shlock.
