| very solid adaptation, i'm satisfied. mappa really cooked on this one. ascetic blaze looked even better than in the manga imo and oh my the opening slapped! that's gonna be on repeat. great first epsiode, looking forward to the rest but i'm surprised it's only 13 episodes, guess it'll be 2 split cours |

| The premise of the first episode just being a series of failed executions was hilarious. I don't see why our MC can't just try to escape to live with his wife instead of fulfilling the plot. A bit trope-heavy, I wonder if that's just a rough start, it seems like the kind of series that will get more creative down the line given the premise. I've never really been a big fan of a character saying the name of some vague move without the audience having a proper understanding of the magic system. So hopefully, that will be explained. Overall, I enjoyed the episode: I'm curious but not yet sold. 6/10. |

| I've been eagerly awaiting this since the first trailer dropped and MAPPA definitely didn't disappoint, which becomes pretty much a normal standard with all of their projects. Anyways, the animation and visuals look absolute gorgeous. You can tell that a lot of love went into this. Even if we only got a small taste of the Ninpo: Ascetic Blaze towards the end, it still gave us a foretaste for what might await us later on. Same goes for the ambience and the background music. Everything fits perfect and gives a unique vibe for this show. Interesting decision how to introduce the protagonist to us the audience. Gabimaru has a hard time to admit his feelings. There's no reason for him to live and he's empty inside, at least that's what he's mentioning towards Sagiri. In reality the complete opposite is the case, which was especially noticeable when Sagiri tried to kill him. His true nature came out as he is deeply attached to life and actually wants to live a happy life with his wife. His wife's father is the worst. Imagine blemishing such a pretty face just to stop your daughter from living an ordinary life. I hope that at some point this piece of shit gets what he deserves. Surprisingly enough with the official pardon Gabimaru has a real chance of a normal life. Obviously there's a snag to it. Gabimaru has to travel to the underworld (Hell's Paradise) in order to find the Elixir of Life which grants immortality. From here on it should get even more interesting as it's already been. Since I've already had such a fun time with the first episode, I can't wait to see what will happen from here on. |

| For me, it was an outstanding first episode. Great setup for the story, awesome animation, banger OP, and the ending by Uru just seems right. Love Hanamori Yumiri's voice as well which really fits Sagiri. Looking forward for next week! |

| Good first episode, I already feel the demon slayer/jujutsu kaisen vibes. Gabimaru seems like a good main character, looking forward to seeing the rest of the cast. Wholesome wife too. |

| After reading a little bit thought it was pretty decent, nothing crazy though. A bit further really got into it. So was interested in adaptation, well that's probably how you introduce your workm the animation and OP are great! Hope they won't stop at 13 episodes with like half covered. Also assume lots of stuff will be censored. |

Okay, I already LOVE this. Gosh it's SO beautiful. All the details, especially in the opening alone, just like CSM. Thank you MAPPA. I'm stoked for this after Chainsaw Man was so artful. The fighting is enthralling. His romance with his wife was so sweet and meaningful and they did a good job building up the mysteries.  |

| This was pretty good!! I like the story and the animation is phenomenal. Don’t really care for Edo period/samurai settings in any anime, too much traditional crap and bald men (w top knots) with too much power. But this is cool. |

| Loving the thoughtful, almost self-contained pilot episode here. I always love getting the origin story for my shonen protagonists up-front. Shades of Dororo, for sure. That's exactly the vibe I want them to go for. MAPPA didn't phone this one in, thank god. Sagiri blesses my eyes every time she's on screen, and the action is wonderful to watch. An easy AOTS frontrunner, but Spring 2023 is stacked so we'll have to wait and see. |
| Seems pretty solid. Huge fan of the era it's set in and some of the art style is catching my eye. Felt pretty predictable but it has me intrigued. |

| Literally just heard of it yesterday and added it to my list. Can't believe this went under my radar for so long. Might have to re-consider my potential anime of the season... Didn't think I would ever see a married MC in a modern popular shounen but I'm all for it. First ep is pretty similar to Demon Slayer in that the protag sets out on a "journey" of sorts for their loved one except I think they displayed the bond between protag and family member very well here. Looking forward to see how this one goes. |

| I came into this not knowing anything except for reading the synopsis and I was impressed. It seems that Gabinmaru, by becoming the top shinobi in Iwagakure, got super power and strength and was able to withstand the different types of executions. Meanwhile the lovely Sagiri recorded some information and towards the end made Gabimaru realize that he is avoiding dying and it's so that he can reunite with his wife. I'm intrigued as to what will happen and I'm looking forward to the upcoming episodes. MAPPA being the studio handling this with great animation makes the anticipation greater. |
| Burning someone at stake was explained rather well..that the person dies by suffocating from the smoke or carbon poisoning.. So I propose the idea to put a gas mask on the person before lighting the fire.. That way the man won't be suffocating to death and feel the full extent of the pain.. |
