Hello, call me Joe

Been watching anime since I was a toddler, I still have a soft spot for hot-head shonen shows now. I am open to try different genres, but there are also genres I try to avoid (isekai power fantasy; shows with fundamentally desperate cosmology, etc.)

Generally speaking I am not a harsh reviewer, and I try to spend more time on shows with good ratings since I don't see the point of diving into shows universally panned (edit: YouTuber AnimeMan said "you got to watch some bad anime to understand what's so great about the good ones", and I think he has a point, besides, once you expect a show to be awful, you might end up entertained in a different way). That said, I do try to maintain a manner of consistency and standard for scores and reviews I give. I cannot promise to be objective, but I try to be as reasonable and fair as possible.

I’m gonna have to agree don’t get me wrong. I do like the new version. But it definitely doesn’t capture the essence of the original. They censored quite a bit of it to appeal to a larger audience, to play safe I prefer the manga I didn’t grow up with the original show. I didn’t get into it until I read the manga in my teens (2013) then I watched the show a few years later.

Been busy over the last week came back to this because I’ve heard of the ranma 1/2 remake Been waiting very long time for that one specially since Inuyasha was my first exposure anime Well, maybe not as long as you have🤣 FYI, 90% of my plan to watch is just re-watching anime I’ve already seen. I just haven’t seen it in like a decade.

Been watching anime since 2011 And there’s been a lot of anime That are great in the last decade, but I kind of feel like their mass producing a lot of garbage something that doesn’t seem as prevalent in older anime In other words, the ideas in older anime feel a lot more unique

Understandable. It didn't bother me that much since it's more of a relaxed show, but the things you mentioned can hinder my enjoyment too. Especially the overused flashbacks.

You have the best "mixed feelings" review on Frieren from what I read. I've seen the first 4 episodes so far, it's definitely not bad but I don't understand how this can have the highest rating on the site. For me it's just interesting enough to continue. I don't have any problems with slower and more philosophical shows, but a padded out fantasy adventure anime that bombards me with melancholy is not what I need right now. I'm not interested in fantasy so it can't balance it out either.

Yeah same I've read csm 3 times now lol it never gets boring.

I'm also looking forward to mob I've been rewatching it cause I don't remember like anything when I did watch it and wanted to watch it while it was airing.

Also speaking of vinland saga have you read it? or are you going into s2 blind?

I know I am its probably gonna be one of my favorite seasons I've watched airing tbh depending if the adaption of blue lock is good or not since its one of my favorite mangas ever lol there's also csm but I know that's gonna be a good adaption so no worries there.
