Synopsis

Years ago, all of the ghosts in a haunted schoolhouse were banished by a certain student. Now, they're back—and they want revenge...

Satsuki and Keiichirou Miyanoshita are two siblings recovering from the tragic loss of their mother. After moving to their mother's hometown, they learn that the local school they have transferred to is an old building—one said to be haunted. Despite initially brushing it off as a silly rumor, the two soon discover that ghosts are indeed real and that they're after them! Gakkou no Kaidan is the creepy tale of the lives of these siblings and their newfound friends as they try to survive the school's ghosts—with a little help from their pet cat along the way.

My wife and I watched the first few episode with subtitles turned on. But one day we decide to watch the dubbed version because we were having some soup while watching the show and it’s a lot easier to eat soup and listen then eat soup and read. But the characters only had uttered two sentences before we sprayed our soup because of our laughter. Whoever the cast was that decide to do the dubbing, they went over and beyond in changing the context with absurd dialog. I have rarely laughed so hard.

This anime is unique in that it proves context and content are ...

Mixed Feelings
This is a 'scooby-doo' type story, quite bland and nothing out of the ordinary. And yet, I really enjoyed this anime. This is of the few animes I watched in DUB (There is no point in watching this if you do not watch in dub btw) Whether it's how unhinged, crazy or the questionable jokes and humour, I very much watched the whole series, happily. Although, I understand that I most likely will not get the humour of a culture I dont belong to, sometimes all the PERVERTED jokes in Japanese shows (mainly talking about anime) is just too much- I actually surprisingly really ...

Speaking specifically of the English Dub, this obviously isn't everyone's cup of tea, and you probably have an inkling if that just doesn't sound like it's for you. For me, any joke involving race, sexuality etc I just took it in stride. I'm in the LGBT+ myself, and you might be more sensitve, but sometimes you just have to know what to expect and roll with it. I was actually very receptive to the dub's changes and I can laugh along with most edgy comedy that this new take on the series was banking on that was commonplace at the time.

The only jokes I didn't ...
