I registered my team about 2 days before the deadline. I still I have a team that will make it top 75ish but not sure how far I can go up. My best rank was like 7-8 a few years ago. I've been doing really bad the past few seasons though.
Honestly, I think most new players picks based on popularity PTW but not realize that over time, a lot of other things factor that causes their rank to drop. I'm picking some titles that are definitely instant lock-ins while taking a risk at some others. This ain't a FAL game without risks after all :p
Definitely not as much as The Handmaiden (which was clearly going for shock value, whereas Fingersmith is more a true historical lesbian love story). It's been a long time since I've seen the movie, but as I recall, there is just one sex scene. It's long-ish but a lot more of it's implied than actually seen. (If it helps any, I watched the movie with my parents way back when I was 16 or so and had no issue. .....Although I also watched things like Rocky Horror with them, so take it with a grain of salt.) So, I mean, if you don't like sex on screen, it's definitely there--but not to the same extent.

Another of her books, Tipping the Velvet, also has a BBC film adaptation done as a two-part "mini-series," just like Fingersmith. That one--both the book and the movie--is slightly more sexual than Fingersmith, though.) The acting in it is great, too!
