Shoushimin Series

Jougorou Kobato has a habit of inserting himself into other people's problems. After realizing his detective skills are neither wanted nor appreciated, he makes an agreement with his shy friend Yuki Osanai to become ordinary together. Now entering high school, they aim to be perceived as regular people, yet Kobato cannot help but fall back into his deductive ways when faced with everyday mysteries.

Unfortunately, mundane occurrences are not all the duo stumbles across. As they go through their school days trying to avoid drawing attention to themselves, Kobato and Osanai at times get caught up in incidents that put their plan of a peaceful, average life at risk.

watch it 2 or 3 episode you will like ,its a good great anime if you didn't liked it watch after a year or so because i think to truly experience it you should be ready to use your brain and maybe still you wont understand then you have wait till the time you yourself think are mature enough to understand deep stories .it touches many mundane questions of life maybe with a gist of some life lessons and the best part of this anime is its VISUAL METAPHORS like literally as the word says ,like suddenly between talks a visual metaphor is shown ... with beautiful animation.

Mixed Feelings

The animation production and staff for Shoushimin deserve praise. The show consistently has well-detailed, gorgeous backgrounds, and the characters are always animated to convey their emotions perfectly. The show is paced well, and season 1 ends in the best way it could, overcoming a dramatic situation, showing light on our main characters' hidden agendas, and teasing what's to come for season 2. Yet despite all of this praise, I still give Shoushimin a 6/10 rating. 80% of Shoshimin is a boring, drawn-out overcomplication of problems that I could never seem to care about. It's easy to find interest in an intelligent main character, with a ... somewhat hidden past, flexing his mind through challenges, but beyond my initial interest in Kobato-kun, the rest of this story falls flat. Osanai-san, the female lead, peaks at the culminating 2 episodes, but I actually found her entirely exhausting the first 8 and still boring throughout the whole season. Ultimately the fault is not with the small cast of characters; even if they were perfect, the situations they are thrown into barely have the ability to hold an audience's attention.

To quickly wrap up, Lapin Track did a great job bringing this source material to life, but the meat and bones of this story don't strike home to me, and I will not be watching season 2.

I just don't see what's to like here.

The visuals are pretty good, to the show's credit... but everything else? For an episodic "mystery" anime, the mysteries are terrible. They are uninteresting and mundane, which wouldn't be a problem (since the show is about MC trying to be "ordinary") if they weren't always solved by wild guessing and just happening to get it right. Or have the obvious solution shown to you but then overthinking on it for 3 episodes. The show will obviously pretend this is some high IQ sherlock move.
Then, maybe, you'd be led to think that the main appeal of the show ... is actually in the characters.
Well... just... no. They are about as interesting as the mysteries themselves. Genuinely, you will struggle to even care about any of them. Just read any of the Positive reviews, none of them will mention anything substantial about the characters... because there's nothing there. "Who cares about all this?" will be a mainstay of your watching experience. And the whole "ordinary" obsession was basically a huge waste of time... much like this show itself.

Maybe the author is under the impression that "ordinary" automatically means "boring and unbearable to watch", but I can think of countless shows with mundane mysteries that also managed to be interesting without being so massively drawn out and pretentious.
