MC is very unsatisfying to watch and is the most inconsistent character out of the entire cast.
Supporting characters are actually interesting with unique powers, personalities, and body types (important in this genre).

This film fucked me up to say the least. It made me feel like I was falling apart or that my mind was collapsing. Likewise, it's an incredibly complex 90 minutes of abstract philosophical ramblings thought up by a very depressed man. While it spoke to me, I will never again be able to watch it. It managed to get under my skin way too easily.

I believe that most of the people hating on The End of Evangelion, while they might "get" it, are not meant to be watching it. If you can't look at something abstract and fucking depressing and say, "Wow, this is meaningful," then Evangelion is not for you.

I paused at least 3 times in the first few episodes and said "I don't like that this happened just to further the plot". If you think too hard, the show falls apart but if you just put it in the background and tune in for the action scenes it was quite stunning. The music also fully in English is something I'm going to listen to far after the show is finished. This is an afternoon action slop show.

The worst part of the show is the fights have no arc and we NEVER hear what's inside the main character's head or their reaction through their ... super suit. He wins because he's cooler, and has cool techniques. He doesn't get stronger through the fights, he doesn't learn anything through the fight scenes. It's just a pretty distraction away from the mediocre mystery plot.

Most of the show is built around the action scenes, foreshadowing and giving minimal context on who's next. It's a very Mario-like story where you gotta fight all the different Bowser Jrs, and they're all a bit quirky but nothing beyond that. It's actually kinda unique that we don't hear any person's thoughts at all across the entire series. We can only see their expressions and flashbacks, we actually know less than the characters do.

The best part of the show outside the eye candy is the unraveling of who the characters are. We slowly learn their motivations and we are surprised at the same time the characters are surprised when an insider is revealed or a betrayal happens. I feel like if I watched the show in reverse it would've been a little.. Better? Things make a bit more sense as we learn more, but the production didn't have the patience that other shows have. We slowly learn about the CEO, the Secret Society, and other side characters. But we spend too much time setting up the big action scenes that they don't get any breathing room.

Overall, the writing is mediocre at best, there are no clear good or bad guys. If you took this premise and let it cook for another year with more episodes it could've turned a lot closer to a noir ninja flick where nobody is in the right. They all have an obvious good belief and bad execution/interpretation of that belief (other than the first 2 "villains"). I won't spoil anything, but pay attention to everyone's primary goals and then see how they execute those goals.

I think the ultimate message of the show unironically is when you have differences, fight it out and the winner gets to decide who's right. I suppose "family makes us stronger" and the power of friendship but those are not expressed in the most pivotal moments of the show... They're backdrops to the former message. It's def a brainless action movie kind of show, but I believe you'd have a better time with other shonen such as early RWBY, Jujutsu Kaisen, or Demon Slayer.

tl;dr: A story about a group of juvenile cell mates suffering through life that’s full of lows and not enough highs.

This anime takes place in Japan during the aftermath of World War II, and is about a group of seven teenagers that end up as cell mates at Shounan Special Reform School. The anime has two phases, each composing approximately half of the season. The first phase focuses on what occurs at the prison school. The guard and doctor in charge are both incredibly abusive, which makes it a hellish situation in and of itself. However, things get worse when one of the inmates is ... approaching their release date, and the guard and doctor begin earnestly trying to kill him and make it look like an accident. The core of this phase is how the seven form tight knit bonds that eventually allow them to work together and push through incredibly difficult situations.

The second phase takes place after a time skip and focuses on what happens to the boys after they’ve obtained their freedom. They each go about their own lives pursuing different dreams and goals. However, their lives are far from perfect. The shadow of Shounan and everything related to it continues to haunt them and results in lives that are full of hardship. Furthermore, the circumstances of the seven before they ended up at Shounan were far from ideal, and simply returning to that brings about it’s own set of hardships. However, once again with the bonds they’ve formed they are able to help each other out such that they’re able to continue moving forward.

The writing is good at fleshing out the main cast and establishing the bonds that form between them. It also does a decent job at getting the viewer invested in some of the cast, mainly Sakuragi, Mario, and Noboru. Though it also drops the ball pretty hard on a few of the cast making them really hard to get invested in. I also can’t say I’m much of a fan of the monotone narrator just explaining a lot of things. It makes things feel much more dull than they should be. The pacing is also felt pretty uneven, and how episode transitions are handled also felt bizarre at times. For example, the way the time skip flowed was pretty awful.

But the biggest issue I have with the story is that it’s overtly unfortunate. For the vast majority of the anime, it just doesn’t let the cast get any straight up victories. There is always a major element of loss associated with any wins they get. I certainly don’t expect their lives to be great and free of drama, but I feel that there should be a balance of ups and downs. Some arcs should just get happy ending and let the viewer be happy alongside the characters. For the vast majority of the anime this doesn’t happen. There’s always something or other that drags things down and makes things somewhat depressing or at the minimum bittersweet. It doesn’t help that logically it feels that there is no reason for most of this. The writing has to bend over backward to make things worse for the cast.

A core part of this is the way things are framed. Even if there are issues, depending on things play out and what’s focused on, the overall final note that an arc has can be happy. But here it felt like it was trying to do the opposite and try to make things as dreary as possible. It got really grating as things went on. There are certainly people that like stories like this, and from that point of view this is probably great as can be seen from the high rating. However, I really am not a fan at all. Things do start turning around in the final stretch of the anime and there’s a pretty positive atmosphere to the ending, so overall I would say I was satisfied with the ending to the anime and may read the manga if it continues with the same vibe. I still can’t say I enjoyed the anime overall however.

The art and animation are solid enough. It doesn’t look good, but the style and designs work pretty well for the story it’s trying to tell and the atmosphere it’s going for. The soundtrack also worked really well in the setting. The OP is great in terms of the song and visuals, but there’s only a single OP for the entire anime, so it did feel like it was overused. Especially as it also plays the song sometimes during key moments, such as the final episode which also plays the OP normally earlier in the episode. The ED is decent in terms of song and visuals, but also suffers from there only being a single one for all twenty six episodes.

Okay, I know you're looking at that rating and thinking to yourself "What's so bad about this children's movie that you feel the need to rate it so low? Maybe you shouldn't be watching kids stuff if you're just gonna hate it!" But here's the thing: I had no idea that The Klutzy Witch would be as bad as it turned out. If anything, I was looking forward to it! Also, there's a lot of kids stuff I watched that I legitimately enjoy, some I love to death, others not as much. I just watched the first Cardcaptor Sakura movie today, for the first time ... in years, and it didn't bring the house down, but I enjoyed my time with it. Some of my favorite shows and movies of all time are aimed at kids, and a lot of that is because the media by themselves respected their audience, not talking down to them and respecting their intelligence. The Klutzy Witch: Fuka and the Witch of Darkness is not only just a generic, juvenile children's movie, it actively goes out of its way to insult its audience's intelligence at every turn.

Based on the children's book series by Satoko Narita, the series focuses on Fuka, an energetic apprentice witch and the princess of the Silver Castle. She aspires to be just like her elegant mother, Leia the Silver Queen, but there are several problems with that: Not only does she absolutely suck at even the most basic of magic spells, she sucks at school in general and can't do anything right no matter how hard she tries. Even support from her friends Karin, the princess of the Green Castle, and Chitose, the youngest prince of the Blue Castle (Get used to all the color coded kingdom names, because they're present throughout), can't seem to cut it for her. One day, while she's lamenting both her latest blunder and the fact that she doesn't know who her father is, a little girl named Lilica demands Fuka take her to a sealed off room, browbeating her into doing so. When they get there, Lilica slaps a bracelet onto Fuka, and said bracelet awakens the evil Megaera, the Witch of Darkness, who transports Fuka and her friends to a spooky realm with plans to take over Fuka's body and defeat those who defeated her in years past. The trio must work together to defeat Megaera and save their realms from the forces of darkness.

Normally a simply story like this wouldn't be too bad. Stuff like The Worst Witch, Little Witch Academia, and Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure have done stuff like this before with varying degrees of success. I'm not kidding you, The Klutzy Witch seems intent on doing everything that you shouldn't do when making a story like this. For one thing, this movie's writing is extremely juvenile and condescending in that the movie relays every single bit of important information via telling over showing. Rather than having the audience learn about the characters organically, the movie just info-dumps their personalities to us via voice-over narration, which would normally be fine if this was done once, like in the beginning, but the movie does this several times throughout, even right in the middle, going so far as to just...explain how these people know each other rather than letting the audience deduce that themselves! Seriously, every iteration of My Little Pony besides G3 was never this patronizing!

This even extends to the characters, who aren't so much characters as they are cliche plot devices that spout moralizing dialogue about the power of friendship and act according to what the plot demands. Fuka suffers the worst of this because all throughout the movie, she's literally nothing but a damsel in distress who not only never manages to do anything on her own, but every time she's in some danger, something or someone, usually a Deus Ex Machina that comes right the fuck out of nowhere, always has to rescue her or do everything for her. No, I'm not kidding, she gets in trouble and rescued by someone a grand total of six times in this! Six times, all in the span of the movie's one-hour run time! Yes, I counted! Mary Jane Watson in the Spider Man movies ain't got nothing on Fuka. And the few times she manages to do something don't even feel earned because she only gets good at magic because of random Deus Ex Machinas that fall into her lap that make her suddenly awesome at magic because hurr-durr power of friendship wins the day. There are some characters who flat-out appear out of nowhere such as Keith, and even one character, a green haired boy with a cat, who only appears in one scene and then never again! Why even put that kid in there if you're not even gonna use him for anything?! Even the villain's motivations are extremely weak and juvenile.

The movie can't even make its premise make any lick of sense. For one, the movie claims that Fuka is supposedly cursed because she can't use magic as well as everyone else, with Fuka herself even sympathizing with Megeara because she thinks they share similar circumstances. But this falls completely flat because the movie never shows Megaera being anything but evil until the last five minutes, and it can't even be bothered to show her backstory. Furthermore, Fuka isn't cursed, she just sucks at magic, and every person in this movie would much rather punish her and berate her for not knowing how to control her magic rather than, y'know, actually make an attempt to help her control it, which isn't the same as being cursed. Plus, Fuka has friends, so any claim Fuka makes that she was also shunned also falls flat. So not only does this movie not know how to handle its characters or premise, it just throws away plot beats as quickly as it introduces them. For example, when Keith meets up with the trio, Chitose acts like he doesn't want to be anywhere near the guy, implying he's probably racist towards those in the Black Castle (Gee, that totally doesn't have unfortunate connotations in any way whatsoever, now does it?), but this aspect of his character is never elaborated on nor explained. Finally, for as much as the movie makes a big deal about Fuka wanting to learn more about her dad, in the end, she doesn't learn anything about him and the whole thing is just...dropped with no real resolution whatsoever. Considering that this movie is only an hour long, The Klutzy Witch really could have benefited from another half hour just so it could actually expand on this stuff. The ending is also just a really cheesy, cliche, mealymouthed resolution that relies on the power of friendship to magically fix everything because we can't bother to have actual stakes, riiiight?

And honestly, the animation isn't much to write home about either. The characters all have the same face and the action scenes aren't all that impressive either. The movie's budget doesn't look much different from a TV show, which is weird because Production IG usually puts out pretty good animation for whatever they make. This is not one of them. Now, if all of this was all that was wrong with The Klutzy Witch, I would have rated it somewhere between 55-60 out of 100, and that's being generous. It would have just been another generic children's movie that doesn't have much substance, but I would have left it at just that...but then the movie had the gall to completely obliterate what little goodwill I had for it by shoehorning in a FUCKING PSEUDO-INCEST REVEAL IN THAT LILICA WANTS TO MARRY HER ADOPTED BROTHER!!!! THE FUCK?!? Why movie?! Why the fuck would you just throw in a completely unnecessary pseudo-incest moment like that?! Not only does it not add anything to the story, it only makes Lilica (when she's not possessed by Megaera) an even worse character and leaves a pretty big black stain on what should be an inoffensive children's movie!! God, whose bright idea was this? Because I want to deck them so hard.

Speaking of Lilica, now that I think about it, a lot of what happens in the movie isn't even Fuka's fault at all. The movie reveals that everything is Lilica's fault, because the only reason Megaera managed to possess her is because Lilica happened to be flying around Silver Castle (With dialogue implying that she left Black Castle without permission) and just happened to be Megaera's target. Lilica, while under Megaera's possession, pretty much pressures and browbeats Fuka into wearing the bracelet that kept Megaera sealed, literally shoving it on her wrist, and is Megaera's meat puppet throughout the entire movie. But even after she's freed from Megaera's control, she's not only revealed to be an annoying tsundere who hates Fuka because how dare her brother Keith be interested in a girl that's not Lilica, she doesn't even acknowledge her own part in all of this and flat-out escapes punishment, with Fuka taking the blame for everything! That's...really messed up, and a pretty bad message to put in a kid's movie: "It doesn't matter if you were forced to do something because someone pressured you and were victimized by someone else, the fact you did this bad thing at all is bad, so you need to be punished and face the consequences while the person actually responsible walks scot-free! La dee da!" Good lord...

Man, I really wish I didn't hate this movie. I wanted so badly to like this. But I really can't mince words here: This is one of the most patronizing, insulting, condescending, and downright juvenile children's movies I've ever seen, though it's nowhere near as bad as A Troll In Central Park in my opinion. If you want good media about clumsy kid witches, just watch The Worst Witch, Little Witch Academia, The Owl House, or even Mahou Tsukai Pretty Cure. All of those are far more worth your time and are way better than wasting an hour on The Klutzy Witch.

For reference, this is my favourite manga arc of all time, so I expected a lot from it. Sadly, it is also the classic case of a manga arc which isn't long enough for a 13 episodes batch, but at the same time not short enough for 90 minutes movie. This movie adapts from chapter 136 to 161, a nightmare for any studio trying to tackle the issue since there's a lot that needs to be cut.

What a goddamn great movie. I‘m writing this fresh out of the cinema. I‘ll try to split the review into some categories, without spoiling. I recommend having seen the first two seasons of the show, but it is not necessarily required as all of the important aspects are explained again.

Animation: 10/10
Wit Studio, Toho Animation, Cloverworks, everyone working on the movie gave it its best. Spy X Family continues to have some of the best animation in the industry. The fight scenes were amazing, the camera movement, every single detail.

Story: 8/10
I‘ll try to spoil as little as possible here. Our family is going on a trip ... and circumstances lead to them having to complete a challenging mission together. It is predictable at parts, but nonetheless enjoyable. Some side drama caused for very interesting and entertaining plot aspects, The Movie never felt boring throughout it‘s whole runtime. There are some things that did not make that much sense, but these did not harm the plot on a large scale.

Characters: 9/10
All of the characters have their own reason for giving their best to the mission. Their motives and feelings are shown very well and the dynamic between the characters is something the show has done well since it‘s first episode. This Movie is no exception to that.

Music/Voice Acting: 9/10
The Music was also good, a lot of tracks known from the first two seasons of the anime. Sound effects were great too, especially in the Ultimate Cinema Room I got to watch it in. Having it watched in German, Spy X Family continues to have one of the best dubs I‘ve ever watched. More in the Comedy Paragraph

Comedy: 9/10
Comedy is subjective. That being said, not every „comedy“ anime is able to get the majority of people laughing. But the Movie continues to bring jokes that are actually great and had the whole cinema laughing. The german dub did a great job, having a lot of sayings that fit the show perfectly.

Overall: 9/10
It is a great movie I can only recommend watching. Watch It with your friends, your family, your pets, whoever you want to watch it with, I believe the Movie is something that almost everybody can atleast find some enjoyment in. If you disliked the first two seasons, you will probably dislike the movie aswell.

Spy X Family: Code White is a Movie with a great story, god-tier animations with intense action scenes, but with great slice-of-life family aspects aswell. I sort of decided on this anime on a whim. I generally prefer slice of life comedies, so this seemed about right. The first half of the series is rather bland, but I didn't hate it. It was seemingly intentionally goofy, and I don't mind that sort of thing. This is by all means an spiritual succesor of evangelion not only on themes but many elements presents on this series resemble on more or less degree to the aformentioned though still is his own thing as a whole.

With more than 20 years on his back since aired soukyu no fafner is a anime of mechas, drama and sci-fi that touches a lot of existencial themes with a pacing that is falling to the side of being slow (at least that is what most poeple are gonna feel watching it although wasnt a problem to me) accompained of LOT of drama, it takes his time ... developing the characters and their respective struggles but still manage to allow the action to happen more than enough.

Like i said it puts a lot of enfasis on the characters and the all the background story revolving about the world which is one of the reason why the begining might feel it like its drag down if you are not used to this kind of pacing and anime of this nature, is very dark, gloomy and oppresive the atmosphere after just the firts episodes, the way how portray the situations and show to the spectator how desperly situation humanity is facing are very good executed, of course that i feel the drama by itseflt also helps a lot when so many dialogs and conversations take place along the series with heavy-tone themes.

Around the second half of the series is where things puts on motion and things start to move faster, most of the story happen on this island-fortress and even if the plot overall is not overly complicated it can result kinda confusing or you might not undertand everything, having to rewatch some moments on certain episodes because has this terminology and somekind of intricate way to narrate some lore of the plot which is not bad at all but also some dialogs like when this scientific (Akane Makabe) talks the shit starts to get serious XD with all this theories and logic explanations.

The only criticism would be one on the early moments of the series with Shouko Hazama which the event wasnt a problem but i feel was handle kinda mehh and the weight although had a huge impact on the rest of the cast also was delivered in a questionable way.

I cant not mention the ost of this series which is GOLD, all the tracks are lit with many cclasical pieces that are beautiful and melancolics and others are so epic it just makes all the experience so much better and the op and end also are freaking good with our dear angela for the vocals that when you reach the last episodes hits you really hard when starts to sound that ending.

Animation wise was okay not bad neither really good, on design i really like how the characters looked having the vibe of that era.

Its a shame that most poeple dont know about this anime even after all this years, i hope that those interested on this kind of genere give it a try having on mind all the aformentioned because is a good series to say the least and deserves much more recognition.
Also there is a precuel and secuel to this series that i havent seen yet but glad to know that the story doesnt ends here.
