action adventure comedy pirates shounen
SynopsisGol D. Roger was known as the Pirate King, the strongest and most infamous being to have sailed the Grand Line. The capture and death of Roger by the World Government brought a change throughout the world. His last words before his death revealed the location of the greatest treasure in the world, One Piece. It was this revelation that brought about the Grand Age of Pirates, men who dreamed of finding One Piece (which promises an unlimited amount of riches and fame), and quite possibly the most coveted of titles for the person who found it, the title of the Pirate King.
Enter Monkey D. Luffy, a 17-year-old boy that defies your standard definition of a pirate. Rather than the popular persona of a wicked, hardened, toothless pirate who ransacks villages for fun, Luffy’s reason for being a pirate is one of pure wonder; the thought of an exciting adventure and meeting new and intriguing people, along with finding One Piece, are his reasons of becoming a pirate. Following in the footsteps of his childhood hero, Luffy and his crew travel across the Grand Line, experiencing crazy adventures, unveiling dark mysteries and battling strong enemies, all in order to reach One Piece.

There are two responses I get, without fail, every time I try to get someone new to watch this show. "I don't like the art style," or "I've seen the dub - NO THANKS." I'm guilty of both of these myself. But if there's one thing I need to stress before even getting started on this review, it's that the 4Kids dub is NOT One Piece. For the love of god, PLEASE do not think it is. If you've suffered the misfortune of seeing some of the 4Kids episodes, just erase them from your mind and start fresh. They butchered it, there's really no other way to put it. They cut episodes, changed the dialogue to fit a MUCH younger and apparently far less intelligent audience (almost insultingly so), gave the characters RIDICULOUS voices, and pretty much watered down the entire series. FUNimation has done a much better job so far from what I've seen, but regardless, watching it in its original Japanese form with subtitles is really the way to go.
As for the art style, it's true, it's completely different from almost anything else I've seen. Much more "cartoonish" and maybe not what you'd expect from an anime. Despite that, you end up loving it. I wouldn't even say that you have to "get used to it" because it's not something that detracts from the rest of the series in any way. It didn't even take me two episodes before I was thoroughly enjoying it and seeing it as a fresh, new style, exciting almost and unlike anything I'd experienced before. Now, some 300+ episodes later, I can't remember ever NOT liking it, or even why I would have. Especially now with One Piece being aired in high definition, the art is crisp, clean, colorful - VERY sharp and wonderful to look at.
Now that we've got those two points out of the way...
One Piece is actually one of the best shows I've ever seen, anime or otherwise. The plot is pretty basic at first. Monkey D. Luffy has just set out on his own to find the legendary treasure 'one piece' and become Pirate King, and he's looking for a crew to sail with him. You'll find yourself falling in love with each and every new member as Luffy finds them. They're all extremely well developed, with interesting backgrounds and unique, fun personalities. They form one very quirky crew that's always discovering new adventures and somehow getting themselves into trouble as they strive to achieve their dreams. Each main story arc introduces new minor characters as well, and they're just as much fun and easy to fall in love with as the Straw Hat crew. Not one character is left out or feels like they're there for no reason. Everyone has a purpose and adds to the storyline, and one of the really cool things about One Piece is that these 'purposes' often resurface at later points in the series. No detail is left untouched, and you'll seriously be amazed by the way Oda threads together plots and characters and blends all their stories perfectly the more the series progresses.
The plot itself, though fairly straightforward at first like I said, quickly evolves into something HUGE. Much of the beginning of the series is dedicated to forming the crew and letting you get to know the characters, though it's definitely never lacking in action, but once they reach the Grand Line, you're swept up in adventure after adventure and following some of the most fantastic story arcs you'll ever watch. The battles and fights are well-paced, with the final boss fight almost always being completely EPIC. But even through the action, One Piece never quite loses it's lighthearted, humorous edge. The episodes are sprinkled with PLENTY of funny moments, never too many and never too few. There's always a wonderful balance of action and humor.
One Piece also has its fair share of heart-wrenching moments, which may take you by surprise! There are some EXTREMELY powerful scenes and episodes that kind of blindside you and leave you wondering when you became quite so emotionally attached to certain characters or other things. I've definitely found myself near tears or actually crying at more than one point. One Piece has it all - amazing characters, the never-ending yet never TOO over-the-top humor, exciting battles, fun adventures, heartbreaking moments with quick to follow touching moments. And underneath everything, there's always the theme of friendship and teamwork, of working to reach your dreams and helping those closest to you achieve theirs, of growing and maturing as a person and discovering the power within yourself to overcome obstacles of any sort, of just BEING THERE for the rest of your crew when they need you - of being NAKAMA.
In a word, One Piece is perfect. And perhaps I'm just biased, being an obviously OBSESSED fan at this point, haha, but what can I say? It's been running for 344 episodes so far and not ONCE have I wondered or hoped that it would start to reach an end. It is, simply put, amazing.
So why should you watch One Piece?
Because you're missing out on one hell of a fantastic show if you don't at least give it a try. read more
One Piece is by far the best shounen anime out there that I have watched.
But not all share the same views as I do, lets remedy that, shall we?
A long time ago, there live a fearsome pirate king who goes by the name of Gold D. Roger. He was able to attain everything. But alas he was captured and sentenced to execution. In the brink of death, he proclaimed that he left the great treasure, One Piece, somewhere in the Grand Line and it is for anyone to claim. This event ignited the Great Pirate Age.
In the world of One Piece, there is such a thing as a Devil Fruit. A devil fruit is a fruit bearing some supernatural ability and whoever devours it will get a unique ability however its origins are unknown. There are three types of Devil Fruit, Paramecia, a fruit that can materialize your body into a property. Zoan, a fruit that gives humans the ability of a certain animal, but if its an animal, it gives the ability of humans. And the last but certainly not the least Logia, is a fruit that makes the consumer manifest a certain element. But of course nothing is perfect. If you eat any of the Devil Fruit, you will be rendered immobilize when submerge in the water.
And where is our protagonist? The anime revolves around our mentally impaired boy, Monkey D. Luffy or a.k.a The Straw Hat Pirate(title came from his worn-out straw hat that he always have on). When our boy here ate a devil fruit that turns the consumer's body into rubber, he sets off to find Shanks, his pirate idol to return his straw hat as promise and find One Piece to be able to earn the title of Pirate King. Along the way he gathers all kinds of oddballs for his crew, The Straw Hat Pirates.
Now how exactly is One Piece different from the hundreds of shounen out there. Well, it isnt. It is exactly what a shounen should be. It follows the lose-train-win formula. So how is it any better? Bingo. Because it incorporates the formula into something fresh and simple.
One Piece arcs can be surprisingly good. There were even times that I was shocked at some plot twists and revelations. It has a very interesting setting as well. And what might that be? The World. The whole world is One Piece's oyster. It varies from vast, scorching deserts to cold snowy mountains, the concept of adventure here is well defined, it really makes you feel that world isnt small after all. And that my friend, is what an adventure anime should really be.
One Piece knows how to pull it off, be it comedy or serious, and believe me, One Piece knows how to be serious when it needs to be. But it never forgets its roots at the same time, and that is the emphasis of friendship and the bond of Nakama/Friends that glues the whole crew together.
Most shounen anime's suffers immensely from originality. Because of this, it is hard to distinguish characters from each other, especially in my case as I have my fair share as an otaku. And most of the characters in em lack depth and substance, its hard to remember a character when you know very little about him. But One Piece is immune from this disease. Each character of One Piece is very... say....unique that you'll find it hard to forget about them. They all have their individual motives, strengths, weakness and even quirky traits. Plus, each individual of the Straw Hat Pirate Crew has an immersing past, that'll be hard for you not to get delve into. And they all have a certain role, not one character gets overshadowed by the other. They do meaningful interactions with each other. And regardless, that each member is vastly different from each other, they all formed a formidable bond. Even the by-passing characters are memorable.
In contrast to the majority, I find the animation to be creative. Just like how the characters are different and distinguishable. Unfortunately people see it as something of a turn off, and quickly judges One Piece as something infantile. I am not going to lie. One Piece will not go beyond the borders of a shounen. It is not mature. But thats not the point here. An anime doesnt need to be ripe to be good. It just needs to be entertaining. Although I do enjoy a deep, thought-provoking anime, an anime doesnt need to be complex to be satisfying. It can be anything, as long as it offers gratification. And One Piece does.
Another potential problem is its popularity. Most people consider mainstream anime's to be somewhat of a failure because of its targeted demographic, and that is everyone. "If its able to attract toddlers, then it sucks" that seems to be case for most people. Some people neglect any anime that is able to summon countless little children in its area, thus abruptly convicting it as over-rated. Heck, some people even constantly hunts threads, just to be able to crack Narutard jokes off some newcomer. Do not judge One Piece from its fans. Judge it for what it is.
Do not be mistaken, I am not saying One Piece is for everyone. In the end, its all about taste. But if your have any hint of love for shounen surging in your veins, there is no reason for you not to watch this, not one bit.
In short, the plot is very promising, the main cast is several but well flesh out, the battles are very diverse, and engaging and the comedy doesnt get old, even after 300 episodes. But One Piece is not a masterpiece. It does not break any ground whatsoever. No matter how you see it, its still your typical shounen.
Regardless of this, the level of enjoyment I receive from One Piece is insurmountable. And sometimes thats all you need. Scratch that. Most of the time that's all you need. read more
ok. let's start with the art. the art is a 7. it's pretty good art and after a little while you'll get used to how the of all the special abilities look.
Sound is once again a 7 there is nothing really to complain to much about the sound. typical for shounen anime really. dramatic music at dramatic moments happy music happy moments, you know the obvious. it's kind of hard to fuck up sound.
Characters are a 7, they have nice drive. which i think is important for shounen anime cuz they tend to be battle manga and you can't have the characters the weakest cuz they will never fulfill their drams.
Enjoyment is a solid 7. it's always fun to watch the good guys kick the bad guys ass or whoever is in their way for some bullshit reason. plus when you love the characters the enjoyment is also good.
Sadly this is where everything else takes a nosedive into a volcano and incinerates itself. the story and overall are both a 1. now this might not make sense considering how the other parts of the show went but because I'm not a fanboy that orgasms at hearing the name of the show you will get an honest and objective viewpoint. the reason the story is crap is because they have done NOTHING in the goal of making Luffy the pirate king. In my opinion there are big milestones in the story. in order they are 1 Luffy gathering his entire crew. 2 (SPOILER ALERT) the death of his brother Ace. and finally 3 (SPOILER ALERT FROM MANGA) Luffy discovering one of his childhood friends Sabo is alive when believed dead. Yes these are good story points but these three segments are they only things related to him being a pirate besides the obvious like him beating strong people and his bounty rising yada yada. but what about him being the pirate king? Nope. About the meaning behind the initial D.? Nope. Oh wait what about the true history of the world written in the Poneglyph's that Nico Robin is looking for? Thats gotta be mentioned more then just a few times and be a serious story arc to help get closer to a proper ending? NOPE. Every time they have major story points like the 3 I had just now and the others I'm probably forgetting what happens? They mention it a few times in the story make a big deal out of it then sweep it under the rug. the author is just milking the manga for profit at this point and i don't see anything in the story moving farther towards an ending. which is kind of the entire point of watching and or reading the damn thing. you wanna see the entire journey, beginning to END. NOT watch someone earn their fat paycheck. that is why the show is crap. that is why i dropped it. read more
One Piece, a title that could probably not be any more unfitting since everybody who tried to watch this show in one sitting should most definitely be comitted to an insane assylum. This thing is huge! At the time that I am writing this review One Piece has had 676 episodes. Going with an average episode length of 23 minutes, this adds up to 15548 minutes of One Piece or 259.13 hours of One Piece or roughly 10.8 days (!) of One Piece. Which makes you wonder how anybody could have watched all of this. But then again, it is a show that started years ago and probably a childhood favourite for many, me included. I remember watching this on TV in the early 2000's and it is still going! Holy sh*t, that is impressive! But sometimes you have to put nostalgia aside, when writing a review for example and all things considered, One Piece just doesn't hold up (anymore).
So, let's start with the good stuff: One Piece has one of the greatest, most interesting and definitely most immersive worlds I have ever seen in Anime. If you heard that this was a show about pirates and nothing else, you would be expecting anything but this. The character designs are great, diverse and keep you invested in the show. The entire thing just screams adventure. In that regard there are few things to complain about, the art style is fantastic, for the most part at least ...
In recent years it kind of seems to me like Toei Animation has stopped trying. I mean this is One Piece, doesn't matter how much effort we put into it, this sh*t will sell either way. Ever since the time skip happened I have been constantly disappointed by the animation as well as the art. It just looks undetailed and cheap. Character designs lack the edge they had before, looking way too clean, which is not a problem we had before. Considering that One Piece has the unfortunate problem of having started in the late 90's, the early episodes are of course not really anything impressive either. In terms of animation all that I actually like are the episodes between the start of Enies Lobby and the end of the war, which are not even half of the series, that is a rather large problem.
Then there are the characters and the problems continue. Here is One Piece's major flaw concerning characterization: They manage to create characters that are great initially, fantastic backstories, interesting personalities, all of that. But they don't know where to take them after that, there is literally no real character development happening in this over 600 episode long Anime, the main characters are pretty much exactly what they are introduced as. First, there is Luffy. He is a bad example for the point I am trying to make since he really isn't that interesting to begin with. He is naive, hungry, a funny guy, but if anybody tries to hurt his friends, he will end you. So, he is basically a copy and paste version of Goku from Dragonball Z. Also, there is no growth for Luffy in any way, which is just straight up bad, since he is the main protagonist and we want to see him maturing on screen. Looking at the rest of Luffy's nakama: They are pretty much the problem incarnate. Almost all of them have a great tear jerking introduction arc, where they are presented and fleshed out as characters, but they never go anywhere past that, being stale for the rest of the show. Of course, you will inevitably feel attached to these characters, just because you have spent so much time with them, but I can't really call that good character writing.
Now let's talk about the story: I do not care what kind of story you write, but if you are 676 episodes in and barely halfway through, you have failed as a story writer, I am sorry. While One Piece's initial story is engaging, it takes far too many detours. There are 50+ episode arcs in this thing, where absolutely nothing gets accomplished. It makes you want to go and scream at the writer to be done with it already. The story, when you come down to it, is basically just an excuse to explore as much of this rich and detailed as possible and while I don't like this at all, I can't really flaw it too much for this either, seeing how the world is just so immersive.
And then there is the main problem, the pacing. Good god, One Piece has horrible pacing. And I am not even talking about the amount of episodes here. Just the simple structure of an episode is enough to get you really annoyed at this show. So, let's look at the reason for that. One Piece is based on a one chapter per week Manga, which wouldn't really be a problem, if One Piece wasn't a one episode per week Anime, almost never missing a week. Different shows try to deal with this problem in different manners, Naruto for example decided to torture us with filler for literally years to make up for that. While there is filler and One Piece, this Anime goes a different route, trying to stretch out the content of a Manga chapter as long as possible. The result of this is that One Piece is probably the slowest Anime you will ever watch, conquering even Dragonball Z in that regard. Your average episode consists of four minutes of opening, four minutes of recap, three minutes of actual stuff happening, two minutes of reused footage and ten minutes of reaction shots. Yes, One Piece is pretty much "Reaction shot - the Anime". There is so little stuff happening in each episode, most of the time you can summ up what happened in the last ten episodes in two sentences. And while I am not a big fan of filler either, I consider this to be far worse, because you can skip filler, you can't change the pacing of an episode however and it pretty much takes away most of the enjoyment I could have had with this show.
Overall, do I recommend watching One Piece? No, most definitely not. If you haven't started it yet, there is no reason to try and catch up. While there are good and interesting hings about this show, I would'n even call it bad, the time you would have to put into this is just too much to be worth it. There are so many great Anime you could watch in the time it takes to watch One Piece, I cannot say that it is worth it. If you are however caught up with this, there is nothing I can tell you, you will keep watching this anyway, as will I. As bad as it has gotten at times and as mediocre as it really is, we have spent so much time on this, there is no way we'd be dropping this now. And also, sometimes nostalgia just trumps quality.

Very high priority in both titles is loyality, trust and naming Nakama, main characters are near to each other. Very important is that, the both are just comedies.
One of non-many differences is that the OP is about pirates and FT is about mages :)
Very similar in art, humor, plot and everything goes around "nakama"
- similar artstyle: true it can be seen, and a simple motivation is that Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail's author) and Eiichiro Oda (One Piece's author) are of the same generation who grown up admiring Akira Toriyama (Dragonball's author). Rumors are that their styles were so forged by their worshipping Toriyama; this of cours makes works of both of them share a similar, very cool art style and character design.
- special powers: in a Jump's shonen manga those can't miss. Characters with awesome strong incredible powers are everywhere in both series. In One Piece we have devil fruits which give to their users incredible abilities, while in Fairy Tail we have mages which obviously do use their own magic spells/abilities.
- action: another big part and genre that both series do share.
- purposes: friendship is the main theme which makes an important bond between the main characters in both seasons.
- heroic scenes: One Piece and Fairy Tail do share quite a lot of very awesome heroic scenes.
- female characters: both authors wanted to give to their characters some strong power and/or personalities, differently from many other shonen series where the main female is just needed there to be saved and/or making comical scenes.
Those, and many other, are the shared things by both series, but the above listed are surely the biggest points which deserved to be mentioned.
So, indeed if you liked One Piece you could give a try to Fairy Tail, or viceversa.
Although, while manga series have both a very good art style, when it comes to anime One Piece's animation quality is cured more.
it's not just similar .. i'll say it's exactly the same .. the only difference between them is that one piece is about pirates and fairy tail is about magic ..
Natsu = Luffy (Cheerful Main Protagonist that wants to protect his friends)
Lucy = Nami (Similar Personalities, loves money, but is always being protected by the protaganists)
Gray = Zoro (Serious and Thoughtful)
Erza = Robin (Mysterious Women)
Happy = Chopper (Cute Mascots)
Gildarts = Shanks (Strong, Red Hair Members that are well respected)
Farewell for Laxus in Fantasia (Fairy Tail ep 48) = Farewell to Vivi in Arabasta (One Piece ep 129)
Juvia = Sanji (Crazily in love)
Master = Whitebeard (The way both masters/captains care for their guild/crew)
And to mention that each main character have their own sad pasts on their certain arcs too!
Same Art style , Same main characters , almost the same plot but fairy tail is with guilds and one piece is pirates. but personally fairy tail is a mistake and its so obvious that one piece is way way better
It's impossible to say that Fairy Tail isn't similar to One Piece...
Main Character of both Shows are quite alike (powerful but kinda idiot). The whole Adventure-style plot of both anime's (manga's) are very similar.
Quote by Pokymon: adventure + nakama + power ups..enjoy
Both Fairy Tail and One Piece have extremely similar main characters, who get hungry, eat a lot, and are in search for something. They both have great comedy and unique characters that everyone loves! :D
The drawing style of both anime looks very alike. The main character is a powerful yet a dumb and therefor a funny person. Both anime got the "Nakama" factor.
One piece is about a boy name luffy who becomes and pirate and heads off to find one piece the great treasure and does whatever is necessary for his crew in the other wise.
Fairy Tail, a guild for mages, we follow their story as they face any challenge and adversity. Each member of Fairy Tail will do whatever they can to protect what they cherish the most; their friends. A truly noble goal.
Overall both of the animes are almost the same just with a few substitutions for there powers example
Fairy Tail is very similar to One Piece because both main characters cherish their friends and believe in the concept of Nakama. Both mains would go to the ends of the earth for their Nakama. The comedy/humor aspect is also the same.
The only real difference is that One Piece has Pirates and Fairy Tail has Mages.
both animes are filled with humor and the main character are very alike.
Besides the other the 35 recommendations for this anime, the main reason why Fairy Tail lovers should try One Piece is because of the characters and the atmosphere. The two main protagonists (Natsu from Fairy Tail and Luffy from One pIece) are Comedic and Cheerful. The personality of one character mirrors the other character perfectly. The overall atmosphere of the animes are similar due to the art, music, sounds, and characters.
In short: Every time I watch Fairy Tail, I always think about One Piece.
First off, both are based on long shounen manga series, so they follow a bunch of story arcs in addition to the main goal. The artstyles are quite similar, with characters looking very lanky and lots of wild and colorful animations. Both also have a general theme of friends/teamwork/nakama, with the main teams of the series (Team Natsu for Fairy Tail, Strawhats for One Piece) always working with and fighting for eachother.
adventure + nakama + power ups..enjoy
It has the same kind of feeling when watching this anime. The character models and personalities are somewhat similar to the characters of One Piece.
Meet Luffy's doppleganger. The story is great, it's all about bonds that grow between nakama, and is filled with hilarity, awesome epic win, and more.
Trust me, if you liked One Piece, you'll like Fairy Tail.
Perhaps the most done rec in this new season, Fairy Tail and One Piece! The first and most obvious similarity, is STYLE. The character drawings, emotion-depicting faces, and character personalities are very similar to each other which is due to the fact that both creators went to the same art school! Luffy and Natsu are both clueless about what goes on around them, but both are overwhelming powerful when serious. Both storm the word "NAKAMA," and care deeply for their companions, close, if not closer, than family. The most common similarity are the eye-pop comedic faces. Whenever something very surprising or unexpected pops up, the characters' eyes will pop out of their heads. Storyline doesn't have much in common, but both are long-term (OP's longer however) and both are equally comical and epic.
if you loved One Piece please try out Fairy Tail its has so many simularitys u may mistake it to be related to one peice in some way :P
The concepts are nearly parallel to each other but one face remains the same One Piece is and always will be better.
They both have a main group of characters, all with their weird quirks and personalities. Plus they both have awesome adventures, good action, an interesting story, and theyre both hilarious.
Both series are very similar to each other. They have similar character designs, the same level of goofy moments and are very whimsical. Both series have a wide arrangement of intense battles and very few deaths.
They use the same recipe, and are both very well made, except that Fairy Tail is intended for a bit more mature audiences.
First of all the styles of drawing they are in are pretty similar.
Also some characters seem to act similar like they did in One Piece.
For example, the Zoro - Sanji relationship is similar to the Natsu - Gray relationship in Fairy Tail.
I really like it, so just watch it ;)
Lots of funny jokes and characters :)
Worth watching !! =^.^=
THe main characters are similar in a way in their peronality, also the animation is very much alike.
The whole atmosphere of the two anime and the genre are very much alike.
Both a fantasy type anime except Fairy Tail is about guilds. One piece and Fairy Tail both have same art type and you may enjoy it.
drawing and characterization styles are REALLY similar.
the main characters are really alike (Luffy and Natsu)
Both have a similar feel. If you like one you most likely will enjoy the other.
If you liked OP, you'd probly like FT. I think Nastu (from FT) is vary much like Luffy (From OP) Also in lots of other ways this anime is kinda OP style. :)
Both of these shows revolve around the relationship of friends and your comrades. They both have lots of action to offer, while having great story lines and adventures.
Basically, if you like one, you'll like the other.
you can't get anymore shounen then these 2
they main characters are exactly alike, their both baka's to the extreme yet they somehow make everyone like them.
they also has big plans when they were little and their trying to fulfill these dreams as we speak. their also trying to find "something" but what their looking for is different.
also Nami = Lucy in almost every aspect except hair colour. their both the "straight woman" in their jokes.
and chopper = Happy. cmon, their like mascots to each team. and you can't help but hug them at least once.
and Robin = Erza because they both have horrible pasts and their super strong and well known.
also the rivalry between natsu and grey are like zoro and sanji. competition in every aspect.
and boa hancock = juvia because they both love a main character and they act the same way to their lover(?), they also think they have extreme love rivals.
both have sword fighting, fist fighting, magical fighting, ect you name it.
Same Art style, big boobed girls (Nami in One Piece, Lucy in Fiary Tail)l and an idiot main character with amazing powers and determination.
Both have great action and great comedy..If you like one..there is no way you wouldn't like the other
Fairy Tail, just like One Piece, presents the power of friendship and the will to never give up. The characters in both series are similar, while both shows emphasize comedy scenes. The main difference is the world these heroes live in. One Piece takes place in a world of pirates and treasures, Fairy Tail in a world of magic and monsters. I'd say Fairy Tail is another version of One Piece.
the author for Fairy Tail did apprentice for Oda for quite some time. So there will be similarities between the two.
Nami + Lucy
Luffy + Natsu
Ace + Gray
well its a shounen action type anime with awesome, very funny and unique characters similar to One Piece it has a good storyline and awesome art and animation .If you liked
These anime share a common comedy style and artwork. Furthermore some of the main characters exhibit similar personalities.
Both Have Similar Art Works.
Both Main Characters (Natsu (Fairy Tail), Luffy (One Piece) Have Similar Eating Habits And Are Both Confident In Their Strength Allowing Fans To Fight Who Is Better.
Both Animes/Mangas Are Rivals To Each Other.
One Big Differents Is That One Piece Is Pure Strength And Pirates And Fairy Tail Is About Magic And Mages
-They both have action, comedy, fantasy & shounen in their genre
-Their main casts have some similarities
-The characters have strong bonds to each other
-Both of these anime will teach you the true meaning of friendship
Similar: It's a OnePiece Clone!
Difference: Pirates -> Guilds
Devil Fruits -> Magics
Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Magic, Shounen, Superpowers, Unique character, Unique story as well, Both anime has a good comedy scenes, Romance scene, Not like the others that are corny when they tell jokes, Natsu from Fairy Tail is really Similiar to Monkey D. Luffy, And the others as well, For the manga, Some of the both anime characters really look the same, Lucy and Nami has the same... err, What do you call that? But if you compare this two young ladies they really have similar right? I just can't explain it as hell as I am.
It's almost the same story as for it, When I first think of Fairy Tail when I was not watching it still, I was thinking that the story was like One Piece, But then, Yes, It really was, Just the difference are One Piece main characters were pirates while the Fairy Tail ones are mages.
Main character is honest but a little silly.. in a good way. All the characters evolve in quite a slow rate during both series so when they do evolve it's always like you've been hoping and waiting for it which makes it even more awesome.
Love them both!
Both the protagonists are looking for something while using powers that most other people don't have. They both value friendship very much, as is clearly seen in both animes.
Both have the the same feel. Natsu is like Luffy. Erza resembles Nami in a way where she beats up Natsu. The way Gray and Natsu fight, however, is like Sanji and Zoro.
Luffy is very similar to Dragneel, Natsu, both show shows people who's traveling together which means their friends. both stick together and helping each other until the end. both of the show shows some comedy/ funny episodes.
The art style is very similar and they are both shounen/comedy series. Both have themes of teamwork and helping 'nakama' or friends. Both have their series moments and their hilarious moments
Both are about being loyal to one another and protecting their nakama. Both have their serious and comical moments. The only differences are is that One Piece is about pirates and Fairy Tail is about Mages, but over all they are very much alike.
Natsu and Gray are like Sanji and Zoro, they both always argue and fight but can be a good team together however Natsu links with Luffy too.
They also have the 'Nakama are the most important' thing to it.
Natsu and Luffy are very alike for e.g: They beat people up if they hurt their friends.
It's a shonnen anime, the pricipal character (natsu dragneel) is same as luffy based in their personality, both of them are strong, both of them love their friends & proctect them.
these two names are very similar in both characters especially the main characters and the kind of story is similar, except that fairy tail is about wizards and one piece is about pirates
the main char cares about his friends just like luffy and somehow the battel
style is smilar everyone has a deffrient power
but fairy tail has a deffrient story and more comedy than one piece
-Both anime speaks highly about friendship above anything.
-Both protagonists are truly idiots but can be serious as hell when the action starts.
Other then their difference in goal , they are pretty similar to each other . How the story develops, the characters behave , adventures of course ( fairy tale less ) . Hate to say it but yeah their ''logic'' seems pretty a like ( I will let you guess what i mean with that ) . Oh yeah another word ''easy''
Both Fairy Tail and One Piece are shounen animes and have a lot of similarities. The art quality may resemble one another(both authors have the art based off from dragon ball's author) and the way they draw the characters in both are really similar. As for as I've seen, people like Gildarts and Shanks, Rufus and Cavendish, and there's more out there where they look alike. The one major thing I think they have in common are that both are about a group of people who go through adventures fighting together and have a strong bond with one another. Also, theres a lot of emotional scenes based on what they go through as nakamas which can really get you all teary or even to the point you'll bawl. Based from my point of view, the things they do are completely different such as different goals for each character, but the storyline for both really resemble each other to the point some of the arcs are related. On top of that, really enjoy each and every one of the openings and endings they show for each new arcs that are airing. I think whether you like Fairy Tail or One Piece, you'll like the other since they have so much things in common. Definitely rate both of them 10/10!
Both series involve the bonds of friendship, with One Piece having the relationships between the Strawhat crew while Fairy Tail involving the relationships between the Fairy Tail guild.
Both have a vast amount of characters that have interesting and unique backgrounds and different environments for the characters to explore.
Both main characters (Luffy and Natsu) are extremely similar as they have the ambition to protect their friends.
Both series have a large amount of action and use of supernatural powers.
They both include action, and mainly fight for their nakama. If anyone harms their nakama they both won't stand for it. Strange similarity: both main character have articles of clothing that they treasure, as well as both being generally viewed as 'stupid'. If you like One Piece, than I suggest giving Fairy Tail a go!
Both are very similar to each other because they share the same genres, action, adventure, comedy, drama, and fantasy. Also, something that these series have in common is that they both emphasize how important it is fighting and caring for friends. For One Piece, they both care for each other as a crew but it's more than that, they're all good friends who fight for each other. And for Fairy Tail, it expresses how important it is to fight for your guild members, which in a sense is their "family." They laugh together, they cry together, they fight together, and they grow together. That is what it means to be a part of Fairy Tail.
natsu is preety much luffy just with standing pink hair
lucy like to spend money and nami like to keep
zoro and erza are preety much the same just that erza has boobs
happy is chopper
and more more and more...
Both the main characters likes to sleep, eat and are pretty dumb, there is a time gap in both of these anime which means both of the main characters will become even more stronger. The only real difference is that One Piece is about pirates and Fairy Tail is about wizards and witches. BTW both of the main characters are pretty OP (Over Powered). Oh and Naruto is also the same as these 2 anime but Naruto is about ninjas.
Both follow groups of close friends who go on adventures in ivast, in-depth worlds! They both will make your emotions swing wildly and get you attached to the characters
Out of all the shounen anime there are, Fairy Tail is probably the most simmilar to One Piece. Both have some kind of powers (magic/devil fruit), caring for frends, fights as well as comedy. Main characters are very simmilar. Both are airheads with love for food, but can get very serious when their friends are in danger.
One Piece and Fairy Tail are almost pretty much alike (my opinion). But I like Fairy Tail better though because the arc isn't that slow like One Piece's.
- One arc of One Piece lasts about ONE year. An arc of Fairy Tail is about 3-4 months in average.
- The goal of the pirates of One Piece is to travel trough the sea and to achieve One Piece treasure. Fairy Tail doesn't necessarily have a big goal, but they do sign up for 'works' to achieve money to make the guild better. But there is one main character who has a goal: his name is Natsu Dragneel The Dragonslayer and his objective is to find his father Igneel. There are also two other Dragonslayers who want to find their mother and father but their goal isn't on high priority as that of Natsu.
- In One Piece the main characters are pirates and it goes about pirates. In Fairy Tail the main characters are mages and it goes about magic.
- In One Piece, the most important style of it is explore the world and achieve One Piece. Therefor they must go through hardship like battles, adventures,etc...
In Fairy Tail, the most important style of it is FRIENDSHIP. Thanks of that, the power of guild flows. There are many other guilds who are rivals against Fairy Tail (which is very awesome) and there are also many Dark Guilds. They are threats of Fairy Tail. Of course in One Piece, there is also the so-called 'nakamapower' but it isn't that remarkable as in Fairy Tail.
- I find them both awesome, but like I said: I find Fairy Tail better than One Piece because of one thing: slow paced arc in One Piece.
Those animes are very adventurous, funny and sometimes mysterious. There are many EPIC battles. You will meet different characters with different strengths, skills, and together they make a good team.
If you enjoyed Fairy Tail you will sure love One Piece. Both have a strong main character that never gives up and has his goal in mind all the time . For the romance lovers I am sorry but there is not much love in this series.
If you like or enjoy One Piece, then you'll most definitely love Fairy Tail, and vice versa.
One Piece was a major inspiration for Fairy Tail, with one of the similarities being the protagonist of Fairy Tail, Natsu Dragneel, and protagonist of One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy, sharing multiple personality traits. The two animes also share one common set of motivation, friendship and loyalty, the show thrives off of these two things and it's what makes the heroes prevail in the end.
The sense of adventure and family is also a similarity the two shows possess, with each of the characters from both franchises having their own horrific and saddening backstory, the way they treat each other like family is a truly heartwarming experience.
One Piece is personally better in my opinion, because it's the source material for much of the action in Fairy Tail, however, I like both animes, and I believe you should watch or at least read the Fairy Tail franchise so you can know it's masterpieces as well.
Both anime focus on the story and progression of a group of people towards a main goal. Both anime also are similar in style ie both contain comedy, action, romance(although in a comical sense) and most importantly the strong bond of nakama.
They both have similar characters and a similar story line. One Piece has pirate crews and Fairy Tale has mage guilds.
-Main protagonist are strong but stupid.
-Story emphasized on nakama/friends.
-Each character has a sad past which is shown and solved out in specific arcs.
-Main protagonist's guild/crew usually ends up causing an uproar or fighting higher ups.
-OP is about Pirates (many possessing power of Devil's Fruit) whereas FT is about Mages (possessing various magical powers).
One Piece and Fairy Tail have similar characters. The characters have similar personalities. One Piece and Fairy Tail have action, comedy, and very little romance since they are Shounen Jump titles. Both shows can get intense and serious, but most of the time it is pure humor. Hope you enjoy!
Both have lots of action, intense fight scenes, and that MC that always proves that he's the strongest character
Personally i'm a huge OP fan since more than a decade and i have to say that it took me a while before actually giving a try to HxH 'cuz i wasn't sure if i would've liked it.. But. Woah against my expectations i really did like it more than i thought! Truth is that after i gave it a try, i couldn't stop watching it.
The more i was seeing it and the more it was giving me the same feeling that OP gives me. They have the same vibe and have the power to let you enjoyed more and more, this way your curiousity level also grows bigger and bigger by each episode. They really share a lot in common:
• first off: well, the genres, as you can see they both are Shonen, Adventure, Action, Superpowers genres.
• both main charas would look the "typical protagonists of a shonen serie" but they actually are able to surprise you, the more you get to know about them and their personalities.
• interesting enough, both protagonists' fathers seems to play a very important role (i would even dare to say "legendary"), plus obviously are very strong and full of mystery
• both stories are about dreams and all that takes to our main charas to realize them. In HxH, obviously, Gon wants to become an hunter; while in OP Luffy wants to become a pirate, but not just a normal one, he wants to become THE pirate King. In addition, their companions of both Gon and Luffy also have an ambition/purpose they want to achieve as well.
• both series face the adventure with a long Journey splitted in many arcs.
• still, both give a huge importance to friendship.
• let's not forget to mention that both of them are quite cured, as of course, like the protagonists, also the other characters in the series are intriguingly developed for the best together with their backgrounds, their actions and personalities.
• last but not least, the presence of the superpowers genre won't disappoint you either because "from big powers come big... battles!", yes, indeed lots of cool battles and the more you find out of the stories and the more you'll get interested by the way to fight! In HxH we have the "Nen" (Aura) and in OP we have the "Haki" (Ambition).. you'll really be amazed by the coolness of the battles!
As you can see a lot of stuff is a common point for those two series.
The only thing left me to say is: I seriously recommend both series, because they both worth it.
If you liked one of them, you'll probably love the another as well.
Because afterall, they both share one last significant thing: greatness.
Gon and Luffy have similar personalities.
Characters all have their own fighting style that they work on through the series, as well as their own goals. They both go through several arcs where the protagonist grows little by little. Both are on-going shounens.
Both have a young boy leaving home to explore the world and become the best in it, they both have dreams they would sacrifice their lives for, happy positive outlooks on every situation, a selection of nakama/friends who they would do anything to protect.
Both have comedy, action, fighting, adventure, challenges, friendship and a feel good vibe.
If you're a one piece fan i definitely recommend hunter x hunter, and vice versa.
Gon and Luffy are very similar, both have a very happy and optimistic attitude even in dangerous situations. They're both young boys who want to achieve something great that is supposedly out of their reach.
Gon and Luffy have friends that are all very different, but work together to achieve their goals.
Both shows are very enjoyable and keep the audience excited and entertained.
Both genres include Shounen, Action, Adventure, and Super Power.
An ambitious and particularly strong young boy setting on a journey in a vast mysterious world, full of unexplored lands and strange creatures. There he meets friends and face various dangers and enemies in order to fulfill his dream.
I would say that One Piece is more about adventure while HxH is more about battle. Maybe HxH is a bit darker too, and OP funnier, but both are great shows.
Both anime are similar in the themes of adventure, comedy and friendship.
The main characters are also similar in personality, with Luffy being more silly than Gon. There are also lots of interesting side characters and powers presented in both shows.
The adventure, comedy and feelings are all the same. Fighting for the nakama's by putting your life in danger. Its a must watch if you loved One Piece.
Everyone have different powers like in one piece there are devil fruits.
I don't know how to recommend anime's but I'm sure you will love Hunter X Hunter if you loved One Piece.
Both series are long running (lots of episodes) series that center around action and fighting. The main characters are very good and the stories are very profound. Both characters have lost their families and are on a quest to become the strongest. They have to struggel and give their all to achieve this, wich is why the series is so amazing to watch as you can see them develop episode after episode.
These are Jump's two greatest ongoing battle shonen. Both have massive worlds filled with numerous unique and like able characters. Both revolve around adventure and a charismatic MC that gains many allies along the way. If you are a fan of shonen (hell, if you are a fan of anime) then you should watch both of these.
Both are shonen anime that each have their fair share of adventures and fights. Both series have hyper, dumb, and funny main characters that are very interesting. The art in both series is also done very well.
Similar concept, adventures, fights, etc.
Great story, not your shonen cliche story, each arc is quite different.
While One Piece starts a lot slower than HxH (I'd recommend picking up at the Water 7 arc if you're impatient), and while its overall world and magic system is a lot more crazier and cartoony, it's definitely got the same sort of landmark effect on the heart, with tons of emotional moments, epic fights, characters that stay with you, and arcs that only get better and better as you go on.
Both main characters (Luffy and Gon) are looking for something in particular and it is said at the beginning of the series.
Side characters have somewhat similar goals. This can be seen mostly with Leori and Nami since they both want money.
-Both shows (in my opinion) start off decent and get better and better to the point of awesomeness.
-The concept of nen and haki are similar, plus both are introduced later on in the series.
-They are your typical shounen anime where the protagonist protect his friends and get stronger. Both have superpowers(main characters are very strong and op, altho luffy is more op then gon)
-characters aren't that similar but the relationships between characters are
- Both have the friendship theme, though it's more present in one piece
-both are currrently airing and prob won't end anytime soon
Both anime are filled with adventured arcs consisting of interesting development with characters and introducing new foundations of abilities each character posses. This is a must watch!
The best Battle Shounen already created. The best seller!
Absolutely no one overcomes this One Piece.
What enchants me most in this anime is a story that is exciting making you reach the point of tears.
Its plot is perfect, everything connects, making their fans create several theories about the story.
His universe is infinite, thus making it all happen or anything appear following its own logic.
His pace is slow and it is one of the causes of many episodes, but worth every minute spent with this masterpiece.
Another strong point is the comedy that will surely make you a good laugh.
the main characters so much alike....luffy and gon they both are innocent and well their personality is extremely alike....they both are in a hunt while gon is looking for his dad, luffy is looking for the treasure, and there are awesome adventures...while luffy has a crew with their own goals in one piece, gon's friends also have their own seprate goals but somehow they get along...
Gon, the main character, has some very strong similarities to Luffy when Luffy gets serious and the variety of powers and abilites of characters in this anime is similar to One Piece's devil fruit power variety. There are some AWESOME fights in this anime just like in One Piece and you will feel connected and cheer for the characters just like you do for the Straw Hat crew. Hunter x Hunter 2011 and One Piece are my two favorite anime. Please this anime is a great use of your time; it wont disappoint.
After watching the masterpiece one piece the only other thing that gave me the same feel was no other than hunter x hunter. In both of the anime the protagonist is a reckless guy who goes out on a journey to gain something that they want. During the adventure both of the protagonists meet many different kinds of people and go through different experiences and learn from that. Both of the series are extremely enjoyable and are worth watching.
Originating in shonen jump, and serialized practically a year apart, both mangas have been adapted into successful long running animes that have an excellent cast of characters, world building, and fantastic adventures.
They both still have plenty of stories to tell in an ever expanding universe, while still keeping pretty consistent rules previously established, power levels, foreshadowing, never forgetting characters, and building off of the huge casts to create more amazing arcs. Most of the time, both shows are character driven.
While both are shonen, both are so tonally different, yet they go in hand in hand with the way they blur the two sides of good and evil - Hunters being hunters, seeking out everything the world has to offer, and pirates, going against all odds to find what it truly means to be free. One Piece and Hunter x Hunter (2011) both are written differently, but in a way still have a lot in common.
I guess the closest thing I can compare them to are Peanut & Butter haha. Anyways, give both of these stories a watch and even if they may not hook you quickly, stick with it and it'll be worth the wait. Don't skip arcs because a lot of tiny details said maybe even 50 or 100s of episodes ago usually turn up 200x more important in the long run.
Both start with a young guy that starts a journey looking for his dreams.
If there is a difference between this 2 shows .. Hunter x Hunter is way better than One Piece at almost every single point.
Not so childish characters/plot plus some epic moments that will just amaze you.
If you liked One Piece .. i can´t see how you will hate Hunter x Hunter ..
If you liked the odd as hell character designs and straight forward plot in One Piece then your'e prone to enjoying hunter x hunter
Both anime create a huge world with many fantastic aspects from wild creatures/people to unusual places. Hunter x Hunter is shorter but has higher quality episodes whereas One Piece spreads itself over God knows how many more episodes but does not loose in telling a great adventure story. Both give you different emotions (joy, sadness, thrill, hope) overtime as you become part of the main crew. One Piece might be harder to start due to the number of episodes but every arc is worth it in the end.
Enjoy Watching! :D
They are both about adventure and the main character is young boy who's a simpleton. The second main character is the cool one who's not afraid to kill. Also the main character ,Gon, shares a lot of similarities to Goku and there's a ton of DBZ references in Hunter x Hunter.
The Best part about Hunter x Hunter and the reason as to why i like it more than One Piece is that people die in HxH.
Both are great shounen series with "fight for nakamas" plot, and goals characters have made their mind to accomplish. Also it looks like naruto somewhat resembles Luffy. If you enjoyed Naruto, I'm sure you will find One Piece amazing.
With the main characters wanting to become the best at what they do and wanting to protect those that are precious to them. Wanting to achieve their dreams, they become more powerful and meeting more friends along the way too.
(its pretty similar aside from the famous Naruto filler)
you can find the action piling up in this anime series as it also filled with nothing but action and adventure and many more of the Drama and comedy moments that will surely bring you to tears and laughter....
The mood of the series is pretty similar and the goal of the main characters is to be the best in their league. That's what I noticed when I completed Naruto and began with One Piece. If you liked Naruto you might like One Piece even better.
Two people that have their own goals and dreams. The main characters for both show are very similar. They are very clumsy, lazy, and funny, but when it comes down to protecting their friends from danger, they get serious. Both is filled with excitement, action, adventure, comedy, and fantasy.
I really like onepiece because it tells the classic story of the hero archetype, i like the refreshing way in which the story is told and the way the crew overcome obstacles, i would rank naruto and onepiece joint first in my favourite animé due to the hilarious humour and invigorating take on a well known character archetype.
Shonen anime. About a young hero who wants to become the best. Similar messages about friendship and determination to reach your goals. Characters fight using their super powers to defete evil villians who stand in thier way.
Both have main characters that act pretty dumb/stupid. And both act without thinking and do unexpected things. Also both main characters are willing to risk their lives for their friends.
If you can replace Pirates with Ninjas and vice versa, Naruto and One Piece are a lot alike with the exception of art. Naruto=Luffy (Both pretty slow and oblivious to a lot of things, but pretty badass at fighting and can be brilliant in combat), Hokage=Pirate King (Both main characters strive to be the best in the world and their dream is often looked down upon or acknowledged by various people). Both series are very humorous, deal with characteristics of friendship/teamwork and have intense fighting.
These are both huge battle anime, where the main characters both have a huge goal, Luffy wants to find One Piece and become the Pirate King, and Naruto wants to become the best Hokage ever. Also, at the beginning of the series, Naruto and Luffy are very alike, causing mischief as they go along. Even though Luffy hasn't changed that much over all these years, Naruto has matured way more and has become more serious, now that the series is nearing it's climax.
In both anime protagonists continue to go on a life with the dream which was defined in their childhood. And which has strongly changed their life. It helps them to meet new friends and as to overcome the difficulties arising on their way.
In both anime the main character has the promise, given to the friend, and as" likes to eat ". xD
In both anime very interesting abilities of heroes, their characters, charisma. And as the important place is borrowed with friendship and fidelity.
At both anime as there is a lot of humour, the cat well dilutes many heavy situations occuring during adventures of characters. So despite of all duration of anime to look them it is a pleasure.
Shounen, action, adventure manga, both with a main character who wants to fulfill their dreams. Both of them have many special combat elements and a similiar story line as getting new friends, win against enemys, some drama sequence etc.
All in all I find that One Piece stands more out, but give Naruto a try!
Luffy is very similiar to Naruto. They´re both really childish characters with the biggest dream in mind.
Even though they act like an idiot most of the time (not a bad thing), when their friends are in danger they give all they have to save them.
There is in both an ero-dude. And there are people who were villains but eventually become nakama.
Both are awsome shounen series, has pretty much the same premise. The idiot main character then gets serious when it's needed, comedy, action, and characters you just hate to not love -__-.One Piece is not very story driven at all but is very enjoyable, while Naruto has a developing plot after the first 13 or so episode. If you liked anyone of these check out the other you'll love it.
Both protagonists have an ultimate similar goal they want to achieve. Fighting lots of enemies along the way and many great adventures. Humor and action are prominent in both series. If you like one you'll like the other.
Both have a main character that gets stronger throughout the story. Both main characters are sort of idiots. Both main characters fight to protect their comrades. There is a lot of comedy, and the fighting scenes revolve around honor and doing the right thing.
One piece is about pirates, and Naruto is about ninjas. They are both extremely long running, and they are both "gateway" anime. If you love one, then you typically will love the other one in my experience.
Both are unique in a lot of ways, and both are heavily inspired by Dragon Ball.
First of all, I started to watch both anime because of their first endings. Naruto ending is incredibly true&sad at the same time, even if - at the first sight - the story doeasn't look very smart it's deeper then you think - just watch first two seasons! One Piece first ending I also liked because of the song (it's catchy).
On the other hand it's easier to start watching One piece than Naruto, because like I said before, Naruto's story at the beginning looks pretty dumb. Much dumber than One Piece's ;D
BUT I like both these anime :) (much more Naruto <3)
•both are a shounen series,
•both main protagonists are a knuckleheaded, never give up, i will conquer my goal/dream type of person
•both males as the anime progresses through each episode, collect new friends and enemies along the way towards their goal they must achieve to be the best
•both have the never give up attitude with their super natural powers, to help good and conquer evil and be the best in the world
•there dreams as kids help them progress further to be more braver/stronger/protect friends
•they are a similar in a child sense yet mature way of portraying it, with the adventure and action.
Both series are long running (lots of episodes) series that center around action and fighting. The main characters are very good and the stories are very profound. Both characters don't have their parents with them anymore. They want to become stronger . The reason i just can't stop watching these series is because you can see the characters become stronger and stronger episode after episode.
Kind of common sense really.Along with a few other anime Naruto and One piece would be considered 2 of the 5 kings of long running anime. And by long running i mean 100 or so episodes. Anyway both anime are very similar in characters however luffy is strong but stubborn however Naruto acts dumb but when in tough situations he is quite the tactician. I'm one of those people who never really liked anime's such as death note. So yeah, it should be easy to fall in love with both anime. I will sow this however, both anime have a story which i would consider unique and leave others in the dust. Naruto may seem boring to others however it's watchable in my opinion. Where as one piece is always a laugh.
Both series involve a young character with one big dream; Naruto: to become a hokage and Luffy: to become pirate king. Both characters are also not taken seriously and doubted at first regardless of how much potential they have.
Both animes have a wonderful cast of characters and part of the big three (One Piece, Naruto, Bleach). They're both long running shonens capable of telling a great story, although it might be a bit slow at first.
Both of these series can be very serious and very funny at times. They give off similar vibes about never giving up and how important friendship is.
The same kind of quirky humour for both, the same kind of brilliantly simple yet very well done animation. Both have unique characters, which combine to make a cleverly-thought-out storyline which is told in a similar fashion. Both great watches
They both have some what unique and abstract fight scenes.
Although one piece character design improves overtime
so if you start watching one piece I would say watch one of the
latest episodes first so you know what to look forward to XD
Comedy comes first for those who enjoy their laughs before anything else like me. Similar style of presentation with a lot of similarities. Soul eater looks like a simple comedy at first but like one piece drama and action can get pretty intense at times.
similar comedy and can be serious in some episodes but not in others.
The comedy is very similar.
And both anime have intense fight scenes, great music, brilliant humour and sad moments...just in the right places.
I for one love both :D
Both anime have a really really great story, and unique characters.. Special fight scenes in both anime, and always a 'funny' side.
Awesome char design (even if the style is different) for both series.
One Piece and Soul Eater have both the friendship priority for their story.
Those 2 anime are the best i ever found :3
Both are fighting shounens with a lot of comedy, much surrealism, non-sense powers and crazy attacks, like gomu gomu rocket, death cannon, etc.
I recommend One Piece as I would recommend the Dragon Ball Series. That is I would say it is a great beginner's anime. It has funny stuff all the way through its long number of episodes. It then begins to evolve somewhere in the 100's episodes and becomes fantastic with even better story lines and great battles. The emotion starts pouring out and I love it. I say Soul Eater is the crisper more serious version with a funny edge and One piece is the more funny with action edge. Both are great.
Both are really funny and the main character, Evans Soul Eater and Monkey D. Luffy are kinda strong and idiotic .......... but in my opinion, I wouldn't say Evans is as strong as Luffy. o well ... anyway .... these are both great adventure/comedy animes.
The fighting is pretty unique and also the comedy is the best.
both are FUNNY and full of action scenes
both have the whole friendship, stick together, never give up kinda thing
they are both funny but can have their serious moments too
Both have same kind of Comedy , Action , and Special Characters
Good story, rare and unique powers, anime shonnen, the fights are amazing! :D
Both series are primarily light-hearted adventure-series, but they also both have some pretty serious moments. (Though in Dragonball, they're mostly in the last third of the series.) One Piece is also partially inspired by Dragonball.
Although both series are shounen and have a lot of fighting, both have also tons of adventuring through the world, meeting new people and places and both have a lot of comedy.
There is many similaries of Dragon Ball and One Piece. For example main characters are still eating something. Next is for example same style of humour, same style of battles, very similar animation, music...
They're both very liked and well-known
I recommend both of them
Funny enemies, funny fights, a lot of comedy and world travels with a group. One Piece, Dragon Ball, both are similar, of course, One Piece is inspired on Dragon Ball, Eichiro Oda is a big fan of Akira Toriyama and a big fan of your major work, dragon ball.
You Find many Dragon Ball's references in One piece. If you liked One Piece, watch dragon ball. You liked Dragon Ball, watch One Piece.
Both are great and fast-moving shonens about a goofy kid who has a beastly amount of fighting power (as well as superpowers... kind of) that adventures around and makes friends and all of that typical stuff, as well as having a lot of humor and packing in a lot of fights.
Story wise these series are completely different. The main reason they are similar is due to the characterization and humor. The main characters of both are especially similar because, personality wise, Luffy and Goku are almost completely in sync. They both have a naive charm about them, they both think about food even at the oddest times, and they both go after what they think is right. Luffy is a bit more stubborn, but if you enjoyed either one of these series because of the main character you'll likely enjoy the other.
Epic battle's, friends and wonderful special attack's
Dragonball (just the original NOT Z, GT, or Kai. Although Dragon Ball Z is also good like One Pieace, not as good) is similar to OP in so many ways. The main character personality is very similar, the importance of all of the characters (whether they be minor or main characters), the attachment to all of the characters, the good voices and voice acting (in japanese), the good background music that is fit to every detail when it is played, the complicated storyline where everything ties together so well and everything makes sense together, and even the way that OP doesn't have a common drawing style, neither does DB (not that they're the same style or anything). All of these are in both anime, (and some in DBZ too), although I still personally like DB more than OP ^_^ .
there a lot of similarities between main characters, such as sense of humor, feeling friendship, some fighting techniques
Both have some great adventure and comedy. If you liked One Piece you definitely like DB. Both also have some awesome action. Also, One Piece is also partially inspired by Dragon Ball.
Both anime have a main character who almost always wins their fights and starts from being a nobody to someone known all over the world through fighting.
THE BEST , Adventures , the main characters are mainly the same , brilliant .
Both are awesome adventure animes with fantasy elements thrown in to the mix. One Piece is more focused at character development and background, while Dragonball lacks in this the humor and action makes up for it. It's not often that i laugh while watching something but i did quite a bit of it during these shows, if you like the humor of one you'll probably like the other aswell.
Because bleach and one piece are both action, comedy and adventure animes. The main character is a young man and he has special powers. They both have their friends to support them. They're both long ongoing series and they both got many plottwists. And both animes has got a lot of boobies, rangiku from bleach, nami for one piece
Shonen anime....both about the main character wanting to protect their friends/nakama. In order to do that they strive to become stronger and learn from others.
Action --- if it is what you are looking for than look no other than ONE PIECE....
This anime series is not only similar to Bleach but in fact I think even more than you wanted...
The Comedy, Drama, Action, Adventure, Surprise, Stupidy, Excitement, Tearful, and sooo oooo oooo much more to your expectation.....
As Bleach goes to the other world where spirits lies, One piece sails to many Unique and unbelievable islands that's full of surprise .....
Go for One piece, It is A hell of an adventure...
Similar type of humour and action, good-only-for-fight-but-a-very-good-guy main char.
Both shows are about fighting, and the desire/need to become the strongest. The fight scenes are well done, and a bit drawn out in both shows. However, if the length of a fight in either show doesn't bother you, then you will like the other.
There is also a fair amount of humor to both shows. The main characters in both shows are funny and likable. Also, in both shows there is great comedy relief chacters (kon and usopp).
A thing to note is that one piece starts very slowly, but if you give it time it will get you hooked. Also, even though it is at 364 episodes, one piece, according to the creator, has been completely planned out, all the way to the ending, so there is an ending plan, they aren't just making stuff up to keep the show going. I only say that because many people find that with long animes they get redundant.
Like One Piece Bleach contains lots and lots of awesome action. Most of the time it's like.. nonstop action. Humor is a part of the anime too, just like in One Piece.
Both of them are ongoing series, and the animation of Bleach just kicks ass (at the current episodes, 200 and 450+). The story's done great and the characters are amazing, the development of the story and characters are done great too.
One Piece and Bleach are both shounen anime's, have a lot of episodes (and are still airing). They both contain adventure, action and comedy. One piece is less serious, has more comedy and therefore bleach is the more serious type of those two. Bleach plays somewhere around the presence while One Piece is completely mixed. I'd say it's a few years back but they already got bazooka's for example. Also here again, less serious. Both the main characters have a special power. Ichigo (Bleach) is a Shinigami and Luffy (One Piece) is a Rubber Man.
When the world ends these anime will keep going.
Both of these anime we're talking about fighting and both are like adventures. They sure like together. Both of the protagonist looks funny, but when they fight, they are actually strong, I suggest this one, both of this anime we're popular, so good.
Both best mainstream anime
Both series are long running (lots of episodes) series that center around action and fighting. The main characters are very good and the stories are very profound. The powers of the characters are amazing and will make you want the next episode just to see what epic battles will come next.
It's kind of like Bleach except better. I loved Bleach for some time, but I got bored quickly. One Piece is a lot more hooking even though it moves slowly. I love this anime. (I'm really picky about anime) Contains some action and REALLY sad moments when they try to make you cry. It can also make you angry. Just watch it.
One thing that really popped out of One Piece was hugely intense and epic fights with sad background. What anime would have fights like One Piece? Bleach has it. Bleach also has similarities in supernatural powers and sense of humour. The one who loves One Piece loves Bleach as well as other Shounen animes although One Piece is best and Bleach second.
