According to the wraparound jacket of Ajin's eighth manga volume, the Ajin TV anime will be receiving a second season beginning October 2016. That volume is scheduled to be released on May 6 and will also bundle an OVA that adapts the Shinya Nakamura incident.

The first season aired in the Winter quarter earlier this year for a total of 13 episodes. In addition, the series also received a trilogy movie adaptation, whose second installment Shoutotsu will also open in theaters on May 6.

Oh my, I'm almost proud to be the first person to comment on this thread.
With those sales, this news is extremely surprising albeit pleasing. Someone must have pushed hard for this.
Or the CGI is just that cheap.

Honestly didn't expect Ajin to get a 2nd season, but it's all good I guess. Another thing to add to my PTW.

I did because Netflix is licensing it and that means DVD sales doesn't matter.

Was expecting this sooner or later since the TV is basically the same with the trilogy movies with some additional scenes and maybe different angles since it's made in CG. The first season probably only covered up to the middle of second movie based on the key visual for the movie.

They'll just ended up re-using the same scenes as the movies and most probably end at the same point as the third movie so the sales for the first season won't really affect it at all. It's basically a win-win situation for them. Still glad for the news though.

Looking forward to this. Obviously, the first season didn't have a definite ending so the sequel should pick up from where it started.

Very excited for this! I knew it had to have a second cour, especially after that cliffhanger. A few people said that the cliffhanger was meant to continue into the third movie, but it didn't seem that way to me. With the pacing they went at, they had enough material to continue to a second cour. More Kanno Yugo's intense music is great too.

People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Excellent news after how the first season ended. I assume it will go further than the third movie does then, cos there's surely no way they can drag that out for 13 episodes. Either way, I can't wait.

I knew it. Ajin won't just be adapted for 1 cour.
Because the Movie adapted further than the TV Version.
And well, The TV version was just almost the same as the Movie. (but longer)

Seems like MAL now gives you notice if a second season gets announced. Nice feature, although I would say it's unnecessary to notify someone if they dropped s1. Anyways, from what I heared, Ajin becomes even more terrible later on, so even the people who like it might not be pleased with this.

There is absolutely no connection between the 2nd season of Ajin and Netflix. Netflix only paid for the streaming rights, not the whole production of the anime. This was probably planned by the production committee from the beginning since they were just reusing scenes from the movies to make the TV series.

Its nice of them to keep pushing this series on, but it just seems its not working.

Its like Toriko, all those features with One Piece and Dbz, and its still not popular.

This is not really a surprise, but I am still happy to get this confirmed.

How were the movie's sales compared to the TV show? Because the TV show's were abysmal IIRC.

I just finished watching Ajin a couple of weeks ago on Netflix and I'm not surprised it's getting a second season. I mean, the story is not done and ending raised more questions than answers.

Also lol at the people surprised that Ajin got a second season even though the sales are poor. DVD and Blu-Ray sales doesn't matter because Netflix licensed the series. What counts is how many people watched it on Netflix and if I'm going to guess, a lot.

I really hope Netflix licenses more anime series. They are licensing P.A Works' (currently airing this season) Kuromokoro (I have no idea how to spell the title) but since it's a mecha show, I'm not really that excited but since it's a P.A Works anime then I'm going to give the show a shot.

Well, I guess I have another reason to finally watch Ajin, but maybe I
should probably marathon it either right before season 2 comes out, or after its finished so I can marathon both seasons. Either way, this should be interesting.
