Both gory anime, and both having a great female main character with a wus male one; mirai nikki being the better of the two

A world where supernatural beings are isolated and not considered equal to the rest of society. The main characters are unpleasantly dragged into a world of abyss where their survival skills are to be put to the test. 'Tokyo Ghoul' features a predator and prey hostile environment where strength in numbers is crucial in order to see the daylight tomorrow. An association is only dangerous when you do not know them...hypothetically speaking, both sides could be equally guilty in their hidden conspiracies and wrong-doings. 'Deadman Wonderland' specialises more on master and slave brutality where killing is a form of entertainment and the weak gets weeded away  read more

Bloodshed, gore, can shock an average viewer, and both of them pretend to be something they are not - EL does it way better though, since many people think it's actually deep, while DW's stupidity is obvious to most.

People fighting to death, found nakama. Both are from manga, and both anime ended halfway of the plot. And both made me to look for the manga to read..

Both are gruesome, horrific and battle driven. Not afraid to push the limits of symbolic television.

Ignoring a Naruto movie and Ashita no Joe (not a series about prison life, but the lead does spend time in prison), the only two prison anime in known existence. Shawshank Redemption they most certainly are not. But Rainbow at least tries to be taken semi-seriously with its 1950's setting and anti-moe 'WHERE GIRL?' approach to prison life. Deadman, on the other hand, blends a prison theme park (!?) and shounen power-ups into a bizarre yet entertaining mix. Shallow and with little planning beyond shock value, but definitely fun. Rainbow does, deceptively, seem like it's actually going to be anime's attempt at one-upping Shawshank at  read more

Darkness, gore and absolute dispair. If you like that kind of style, check em out both. Both mediocre though, they're worth watching for the insane carelessness and hate of most characters in both series. Plus Gantz has titties.

Highly familar elements feature in both these series's, you'd think it was delibrate... Both start with a pretty, mystery girl singing, an 'average schoolboy' who's life is about to change as he plays hero in a superpower world he's not too clued up on, the girl seems familar, the military element is displayed pretty much right away.
report Recommended by Gleam_Queen
In both shows, the main character gains gruesome superpowers that he doesn't want, and said powers end up changing their entire lives.

Excentric psycho puts people in his violnent game. People are dying all the time and blood constantly splatters. Both anime are very violent. Protagonists are part of the game but they do not like fighting. Even openings are somehow similar. The biggest difference (hopefully) is that Togainu no Chi failed as an animation, Deadman Wonderland on the other hand has amazing and well-done animation.

The characters of both animes have the power to control and manipulate the blood. Among other things we have as the story was unfolding

the main theme is survival in both types of shows, matches happen and in these matches the opponents have no restrictions so killing &brutality is common

The protagonists and their friends are isolated from society (or a lack of), and they must fight for their survival. Both are gory in nature and features heated fight scenes.

DW is not that psychological as Eva, but still contains lot of self-digging. Also childhood traumas, characters trying to escape their past. In both series main character is forsed to fight.
report Recommended by twy
Both deal with a skilled male leads who have their loved ones brutally murdered and both plots revolve around them resolving their problems with stronger, more skilled people. With loved ones stripped away, they both realize the harsh truth behind the murders.

- Both Main character were framed for a crime they didnt comite - Both main character have a female friend with them , that goes to "prison" too - Both main character have special powers ( Deadman and Bloodrivers) - In both series there are Bloodrivers and Human , like there are Deadmans and Humans

Both of them are Horror, has blood, and interesting stories. If you like dark theme anime, then you should watch both of them!

Both speaks about a young boy accused of murder which it didn't make. He's send in a prison where there's many deaths. There's allies which become traitors but there's only one girl who will make all for him. Really much of similarities, but these two animes are just excellent ;)

Both thrust their characters into "new worlds" where they participate in death games to their various ends. Both are action heavy and have unique power systems & abilities.

Both take place in the post-apocaliptic future, contain strange monsters & lost memories

It has the same kind of style where you have to survive in order to get what you want and many characters aren't all the good guys

I find them quite similar: Shiro from DW and C.C. from CG, cause both of them are weird attached to the main characters, but in CG we know why at the beginning and in DW not. (And maybe because both of them like eating :D)
report Recommended by Patry-chan
Very similar protagonists are forced into a situation that they know very little about yet happens to have ties to their past. Additionally, the plots both have the same pacing and fights work the same way with a cost applied to the loser.

Both also have a similar feel. Both have to do with a 'childhood friend' and such.
report Recommended by Purplemanatees
Both titles are set in the near future and are very dark, violent, bloody, and can be rather psychological at times. They both have strange powerful beings and deals with a young protagonist that has an unusual power to gives them to kill people with over the top gruesome attacks. If you like one, you should probably like the other.

Deadman Wonderland is also similar to this anime, and begins with the MC confined at a facility where they are pushed to their limits everyday for survival. Both the MCs start off as underdogs, but Deadman Wonderland has more intriguing plot points and twists, which makes it all the more interesting to watch.

Both of these anime have a cheery circus motif that hides darker elements underneath. Also, both have the innocent white-haired, red-eyed child character (Shiro in Deadman Wonderland and Nai in Karneval).

Somehow some character designs made me think of Bleach. Also the 'Branch of Sin' ability in Deadman Wonderland made me think of 'Bankai' in Bleach. They're both skills multiple characters can perform, but it depends on the character how it actually can be used in battle.

-Both of the animes are about the main characters going into an island, isolated from man-kind and that the place is supposed to be "special" but soon find out everything they knew is a lie. In Deadman, people believe that the island is a fun carnival that everyone has to go at least once in their life. In Nana, the island is a school full of only talented children who has powers. Kids fighting for their lives. Deadman Wonderland and The Promised Neverland both are about kids trying to survive against some evil force that looms over them. Deadman Wonderland is about Ganta entering prison to try clear his name. TPN the children trying to escape from Grace Field since demons wish to eat them. Both are good anime for the shounen demographic, though Deadman Wonderland has action, with TPN having psychological mind games to play with.

Both are Blood and Gore at their finest Some similarities between characters and both use blood as a plot device If you enjoyed one, you will enjoy the other.

Set in an inescapable prison. In Deadman Wonderland, the story is dark and bloody while Nanbaka is funny and hilarious. Both warden are female which is badass and strong.
report Recommended by Half-MagePrince
Main character has insignificant memories about a mysterious female character. The animes both include some kind of hidden laboratory involving children. Each anime involves the characters having to participate in unwanted challenges to survive. Deadman wonderland is a lot more gore and serious, but Kiznaiver has blood too.

Similiar character design, similiar type of powers

Both original stories made by Kataoka Jinsei and Kondo Kazuma. And share such things as sci-finess, main character getting involved in things he don't want to and mysterious girl as his companion. Even though they quiet different in setting: Eureka is more light and colorful story with romance-lines, while DW is more dark and tragic.

Both feature life or death games the main characters are thrust into (mostly against their will). Both of their fictional worlds are rooted/have some basis in reality.

In DMW, prisoners of a particular prison take part in dangerous events meant to entertain spectators. In Kaiji, debtors are scammed into high stakes gambling in order to get a shot at having their debts erased. Some of the high stakes gambles are extremely dangerous or otherwise risky, and sometimes there are upper class spectators watching the poor gamblers fight for their lives.

Both animes consist of characters being forced into a survival/death game. The ones competing in DW fight on their own behalf, however in the fate/zero, those chosen to participate have heroic spirits they summoned to serve as their servants.

Similar plot point where school kids are thrown into supernatural-esque horrific situations outside of their control. Both also contain a level of gore, with Corpse Party having more than Deadman Wonderland, but both with varying elements of gore and death.

Both start off with a wimpy and insecure main character. But later on the main character learns from a close acquaintance that they should grow up and be brave. When the main characters finally decide to fight for their friends they both become the coolest bad ass ever. It's true!

If you liked Deadman Wonderland or FMA:Brotherhood, you would like the other because they both have a young, male protagonist being pushed to limit physically, mentally and emotionally. The two protagonist (Ed and Ganta) are haunted by deaths in their past. Both were helpless to stop their loved ones from dying, and went on a dangerous journey of action to overcome that past.

In both series, rough-edged inmates are made to fight by their imprisoners, with lethal collars placed around their necks.

Both anime focus on main characters whose lives are turned upside down as they discover their supernatural abilities in a deadly accident. From there, the main character is thrust in a kill or be killed situation, where he must struggle for survival as he witnesses the darker side of society. The character development in both anime is somewhat similar, and they both contain a lot of action and violence.

Both series begin with a bang; containing gory violence and content that could be a bit disturbing at first. Psycho-Pass contain characters called Enforcers, who face similar restrictions like the prisoners in Deadman Wonderland. If an Enforcer acts out of line, he/she can be executed immediately, and Enforcers are not allowed to walk freely, having to be accompanied by a commanding officer always. Insanity. Both Deadman Wonderland and Dorohedoro present their respective worlds like that of which is nothing but violence. The crazy events never seem to stop in both anime. Deadman Wonderland sets a puny Ganta in the prison Deadman Wonderland after he has allegedly massacred his classmates. Dorohedoro is Kaiman wanting to find out who changed his head into a lizard head. These two are also paired with fairly overpowered female partners, Shiro and Nikaido, on their journeys. Both are good anime featuring the same amount of blood and gore here and there. With Dorohedoro being more comedic than Deadman Wonderland.

The feeble and the insane. Deadman Wonderland and Gleipnir both use characters with personalities of feeble ones and insane ones teaming up to survival wicked games. Deadman Wonderland has Ganta and Shiro. Gleipnir has Shuuichi and Claire. Ganta acts as the leader between his pair due to Shiro following him around, however, in Gleipnir a much more dominant Claire controls the pair. Both are good supernatural anime with Deadman Wonderland being for sci-fi horror tastes, Gleipnir being for more ecchi tastes.

I watched these two anime pretty much back to back and noticed that brynhildr was very similar to deadman wonderland. Both anime have a similar system of people required to consume something (candy/pill) to stay alive. In deadman wonderland, they have branches of sin-blood weapons, and in brynhildr they have powers such as erasing people's memories. The character relationships also have similarities. I believe that both boys and girls who enjoyed Madoka not in a way that ou yeahh there are pretty flying girls who fight but in a way were they tried to understand what is going on would like Deadman Wonderland which just started to air.

Deadman Wonderland has a lot more blood and violence while Air Gear has some of the markings of a traditional inspiring shounen series, but both series have a similar kind of action and kinetic feel to them, a similar unorganized non-tournament fight-after-fight structure, and the same 'find your own reason' motivation for the characters to keep going and base their choices on.

DW (mostly the manga) is about a corrupted world turned into a game of "gods". Both anime seem to fall under the psychology umbrella. Both of them have a "Theme" that the games are played in many many levles- the normal one for the observer, on witch the game seems normal, and then the one that can actually harm you. To make the audience eat the gore easier both anime uses very funny, cuddly or just plain cool aesthetic.

This story line also evolves around a virus/supernatural disaster that creates abilities for certain people. There's a relationship between the two main characters that are similar to Ganta and Shiro. ^-^ They're both controlled by an agency/force that appears powerful, but manages to keep them contained in a metaphoric cage...though the endings do vary between the two anime's.They both resemble a kind of light that stands as hope or flame for those around to give meaning to their life.

How a lot of the people kept captive in Deadman Wonderland where either guilty of their crimes or not, they eventually found reason underneath the hell they've been put through..yet later realize that reality can't be changed without a reason to believe.
