Honestly I do prefer Akagi's manga over the anime, especially when I read it while listening to the anime soundtrack. But me preferring the manga is mostly because the anime literally only adapts the first few chapters of Washizu Mahjong. So I would recommend eventually reading the manga, even more so if you know you'll enjoy it lol.

I have one question regarding your lists. Did you watch Akagi and then read Ten, or was Ten your first contact with Akagi as a whole? Asking because original Akagi manga is in your plan to read. Btw, I very much agree with how highly you rate Ten. Akagi's a phenomenal character.

My 33 year-old Libra friend from North Carolina loves that anime too. Not exactly a Type Moon fangirl, but I bet she'll like the new Tsukihime. She's more into sci-fi and historical anime though.

I also thought about recommending her Zegapain sometime.

Speaking of sci-fi anime, now I'm thinking about the old G4TechTV days airing Last Exile, another favorite of said friend.
