-Both have very similar story structures, where groups of characters slay demons/curses. -Both are action packed shonen manga with overall darker horror vibes. -Both have sets of memorable characters. -Both have great art styles, the characters are well designed and dressed in a stylish way. -Both stories take place in urban style Tokyo settings.

Dorohedoro is the older, less-famous version of Chainsaw Man (incidentally, it ended the same year as CSM started... Coincidence?! Probably) The setups are slightly different, but the execution is nearly identical - Socially inept protagonist with a transformation that turns them into brutal monsters, check, dark urban setting, check, loads of dark comedy, check, the protagonist being tasked with killing hordes of destructive monsters, check and the list goes on. Chainsaw Man's approach is slightly more psychological, balancing out the drama with brutal action more carefully compared to Dorohedoro's more stylish and somewhat less sentimental approach. CSM is a shonen, so it won't explore its dark themes  read more

Similar nonstop action with even more beautiful art. And you never know what comes next.

Both come from the same author. Fujimoto's storytelling is one of a kind. Stories are different in many ways, but the core ideas, such as deep breakdown of characters minds, portrayal of fragility of human lives (even main characters'), and last but not least, very metal and detailed violence.
reportRecommended by NorbiSenpai
Humans and human-demons use amazing abilities and familiars to battle each other.
reportRecommended by Edgerunner
If you really loved the dark vibe of Chainsaw Man and also read Jujutsu Kaisen, then you're going to love this manga. These 3 manga's are known as the dark trio of shounen, and as this is the 3rd member you understand where it's going. My favorite part of Jigokuraku is the cast, they make the story inteesting and the best reason to keep reading.
reportRecommended by flottings
Similar in some regards, while Chainsaw Man feels way lighter in the pursuit of feeling some oppai it does have great action scenes and a decent dose of seriousness, the thing farther from Berserk tho it's the loneliness feeling and a certain realism within it that Chainsaw Man does not have.
reportRecommended by OfficialRage
They both feature protagonists who are part human, part devil who battle/hunt other devils. They both have great art work and feature adequate gore.
reportRecommended by JVskunkape
Main character suddenly gets demon powers and dragged into a world of demons. The powers they get are from an insanely strong demons feared by the other characters and demons. Both set in a form of Japan with an organisation set up to get rid of those monsters.
reportRecommended by SteamedPlague
Both series feature very brutal and detailed violence. They also focus on their characters' minds, issues and trauma. Chainsaw Man has very edgy and childish gags, but they seem more influenced by western humour so even non veterans can enjoy it.
reportRecommended by NorbiSenpai
Similarities (considering After God just started for now): √ Aesthetically pleasing artstyle. √ Clever depiction of fantasy prompt/concept. √ Overpowered characters in amazing character design. √ Diverse personalities that makes the story interesting, which lead to funny and entertaining interactions between the characters.
reportRecommended by Coffee_Jelly
The design of the monsters/ creatures are very similar to one another. Abara is a bit more gruesome/ dark and Chainsaw Man has more comedic elements.
reportRecommended by driveknight
In both manga: - the protagonist is part of a group of people tasked with slaying bizarre supernatural foes in a modern urban environment; - the battles get quite violent and brutal; - there is an underlying agenda about their fights; - protagonist's character experience growth along the way; - features drama that brings a tear to my eye.
reportRecommended by Genoard
Inhumanly-strong human boy sucked into the world of monsters, and made to take down goon after goon for a pretty lady he serves. Ayashimon didn't have enough time to fully develop its characters, but from its short 25-chapter run, it showed promising potential that could have very well bloomed into a wonderful story with powerful character dynamics and world building similar to what Chainsaw Man accomplished.
reportRecommended by boonesies
Unpredictability at its finest. Both of these stories can be gruesome, epic, make you laugh and feel uncomfortable all at the same time. Nobody is safe from anything and that makes for two of the most exhilarating experiences you can ask for in manga.
reportRecommended by Papa_Gen
Both manga involve a protagonist who has lost someone very important to them and who has a certain being inside of them yet joins a team who fights against said kind of being.
reportRecommended by MeanMrMusician
If you enjoyed chainsaw man I feel like this Assasin-filled world will definitely bring you a lot of enjoyment. The thing that Sakamoto Days delivers on is definitely a sense of action and urgency in fights while always finding a comedic undertone to just make you die of laughter while flipping through the pages.
reportRecommended by Fazili
Special humans with the power of monsters, plot twists and details that become important later.
reportRecommended by cr0ybot
The story isn't similar actually, but the thing that I think is pretty similar is the panelling. Both panelling are very cinematic and very creative.
reportRecommended by HEBI_TAN
Both are action packed series with tons of gore in them, what else is there to say?
reportRecommended by OnyxSaiyan
-Similar dark and at times hopeless atmosphere -Psychological and existential, with a lot of depressing themes -Consistently explaining motivations behind everyone's action without imposing generic set of morals -Similar art -Similar protagonists (If you ever happened to read these two at the same time you'd see many parallels between Denji and Reiji: Besides being blonde, frail , depressed 17-year olds finding themselves in hopeless circumstances, and with bleak outlooks in future, they are susceptible to influences of others and some of the main part of plot progression is them being taken advantage of/toyed by manipulative people, who happen to be female villain-protagonists -Same "hot_garbage_dumpster_fire_I_wonder_what_is_going_to_happen_next" factor Those who enjoyed one  read more

We all know that Chainsaw Man is a badass, absurd, insane, violent, majestic and fucking cool manga. But I would also love to recommend Tatsuki Fujimoto's other recent work: Sayonara, Eri (or Goodbye, Eri)! A story where the protagonist creates a movie that everyone hated, but apparently a girl named Eri says she loved it, and would love to help him making a new movie! It's a manga with a great pace, extremely metalinguistic quotes balanced with Fujimoto's special touch of fantasy and an absolutely mind-blowing ending! Read it, you'll like it a lot guys!

-Both protagonists start out as country kids before moving into a larger society as a whole and joining an organization that sends them on battle missions -Both are extremely bloody and gore-filled, adding flare and dramatic impact -Both deal with similar heavy themes, which I can't disclose here in the interest of not spoiling the story

-Both have very similar settings and story structures. -The characters have special abilities, are part of an organization and they fight against demons/monsters. -Both take place in urban style Tokyo settings.
reportRecommended by alpha_shadow
The inicial plot is similar, the difference is monsters and demons. The main character was turned into a humanoid monster during a fight and now he works for an institution that deals with people who have also turned into monsters. Both have good violence and bizarre monsters.
reportRecommended by NCYTNR
Both series blend deep dives into characters' personalities and mental trauma with humour. ChSM is to OPM like rebelious brother. ChSM humour is more edgy and immature and the portrayal of violence and psychology is more brutal, messier, uglier. Both have very creative character designs and splendid chemistry between them.
reportRecommended by NorbiSenpai
Protagonists fuse with a not so evil alien/devil. They save each other's lives and grow as people.
reportRecommended by MegaUltraTom
- Very similar monster designs - Both very brutal and have cool fights - Both are dark fantasies - In both you have a mysterious organisation behind - Some parts in Chainsaw Man really made me think again about Claymore
reportRecommended by Griff-ith
-They're both darker violent manga, but they have interesting characters that lighten up the mood. -They both have similar presentation styles (art, character designs, setting) -In Chainsaw Man, the main character has a chainsaw head. In No Guns Life the main character has a revolver gun head.

The endless everyday as a live fulfillment achievement, questioned by the death of those we love.
reportRecommended by FlohIsAGod
Both have hot headed yet simple minded heroes with sharp teeth. Both are thrust into unknown and mysterious organisations early on which completely changes their lives. Both have great art styles and character designs.
reportRecommended by JVskunkape
Almost exact same premise of a corporation with the objective to hunt some existential threat to humans. Both have the concept of hunters using the abilities of the threat. Also, characters similar to each (just with different motivations) can be found in both. Note: For Toyko Ghoul:re make sure to read Tokyo Ghoul beforehand.
reportRecommended by trone100
Both stories are set in a dark, unforgiving world, where life is fleeting and death lurks at every corner. Both stories are extremely fast pace, unpredictable, and constantly subvert your expectations, giving you a very thrilling experience. Both stories feature morally grey main character. Supporting cast is well developed. and Villains in both stories are merciless yet endearing. Both stories feature strong mystery elements. and will leave you in anticipation as schemes and revelations unravel. Chainsaw Man does this a lot quicker than HxH but doesn't compromise its storytelling quality or impact in doing so
reportRecommended by Futureisbest
I know it's a new manga so I'm writing so early but Gachiakuta's "A boy who is in bad condition and this boy join an association." part is so similer to Chinsaw man I think it won't contain parts like Chainsaw man but maybe we can see some Tatsui Fujimoto vibes in future.
reportRecommended by SeroShiii
Jojolion is (imo) the most bizarre JoJo part, hell, the entirety of JoJo is pretty weird. If you're a big fan of weirdness and just, pure chaos you're going to enjoy Chainsaw Man. JoJo and CSM have some of the most creative and beautiful double page spreads, and they both have very weird character designs. CSM is pure action, gore, craziness and weird ideas. Give it a try.

Has a similar kind of humour (at least as I see it)

complex characters, fascinating female characters, brutal fights. Fujimoto also admired the manga as a classic in an interview with Samura

This recomendation is not specifically for Stardust Crusaders but for all the parts between 3-8, i just selected Stardust Crusaders because its the part that has the abilitys most similar to Chainsaw Man. With that being said i'll explain why you might like Chainsaw Man if you are a Jojo fan, in Chainsaw Man you can make a contract with a devils that each have special abilitys similar to Stands and it really gives you the Jojo vibes when someone uses one of the Devils. There are also some very similar abilitys in Jojo's and Chainsaw Man like Justice and the Zombie Devil or Blue  read more

Both are very dark and gruesome. Both of these are very unpredictable and there is a monster that could be seen as the main antagonist. I just had a feeling after reading Nijigahara Holograph, that Chainsaw Man fans would enjoy this manga.

- Both have protagonists with demonic abilities affiliated with agencies fighting supernatural forces. - Both are excellent action manga with a dose of humor. - Both take place in urban environments. - Both have extremely well-designed demons. - Both have memorable characters.
reportRecommended by Voryn_Ur
-Both are written with a dosis of dark leaning moral ambiguity -There are good action moments. -There is the sense that misfortune gonna affect the characters. -Both protagonists did not ask to be in their situation (especially Fushi). -There a lot of depressive moments I think you can enjoy both easily
reportRecommended by EstebanReten
Both mangas have dark atmosphere and even gory moments, but they have a good comedy as well. There are moments incredebly insane and bizarre in both. There are tons of action moments so if you like that you're gonna be feed. In both works there are a lot of pain and emotional moments, and the relationship of the characters keep growing the more the story goes.
reportRecommended by EstebanReten
Both manga have hype action scenes with tones of blood and gore. Both manga also have a variety of different characters which are unique in their own way. Also both manga MC's are followed and tormented by a female protagonist.
reportRecommended by jake0
- mcs remind me of eachother (personality wise) - fighting monsters while being part monster (kinda) - pleasing art style
reportRecommended by foilover
These two manga are both Shounen Jump masterpieces. In both genres and themes, these two manga are completely different, but they just feel similar in nearly every way. I believe this to be indicative of how much Tatsuya Endou (Author of Spy x Family) learned while he was working under Tatsuki Fujimoto (Author of Chainsaw Man).

Most of their similarities can't be further from the truth, but I find the way they structure their dialogue in a possibly the same structure - They have a lot of "Show Don't Tell" moments, where things can easily be figured out with a flow of dialogue instead of a full blown pages of exposition - Even though it seems not related at times, but most of the dialogue handles by their characterscan be highly relavent to the characters' motivation and personalities -The way they set up jokes are also very similar If you find Chainsaw Man dialogue charming, The Fable will be a great read  read more

(They both have a overpowered MC. (Both MCs have great character development. (Both have to do with devils. (Both have an Amazing cast. I would Recommend Blue Exorcist because the highs of it (Blue Night) can match the high quality of CSM. However Blue Exorcist does not get as good until little later (around chapter 60).

Both manga have main characters who were saved by some supernatural being on the brink of their death, saving him and making him way stronger than before. This being still has an own will after merging with him. They are caught up in all sorts of shady experiences. *Both of them often have gore scenes.
reportRecommended by RaviDavi
Really grim themes, in both story in art. Profound and deeply flawed protagonists. A cynical insight at poverty and homelessnes. Just overall dark and moody atmospheres. Chainsaw Man and Homunculus are really solid works with just the right ratio of depth to action so, as I see it ,neither of them fall into the "pretencious" category or at the other extreme "brainless" category. While CSW defies the boundaries of shounen as a whole genre, Homunculus breaks the confines of what you'd find socially acceptable in a mainstream manga. Anyway if you like glum things in general go check these out.
reportRecommended by lysanthrope
Both are very interesting especially chainsaw man but i feel like you can like shuumastu because it has fantastic fights and pretty good character. The main reason you should read this if you like chainsaw man though is because you will like alot of the character.
reportRecommended by Dr_Watson
I wouldn't be surprised if Chainsaw man took inspiration from B.Ichi, the power system with Dokeshi is pretty similar to Chainsaw Man's power system with Contracts, Devils, and Hybrids; I'm sure that anyone who likes Denji or Shoutarou would like the other, and I think the art for both is really sick, I just love how both series can be twisted gorefests with some messed up characters.
reportRecommended by OnyxSaiyan
-Both action manga with darker horror vibes. -Both are well drawn, have similar stories where characters slay demons/flame people. -Both have Tokyo style settings with well drawn background art. -Both have sets of great characters that lighten up the mood with comedic moments.

Aliens Area is similar to Chainsaw Man in a lot of ways, think of Chainsaw Man but instead of the MC killing devils they fight aliens. I haven't read much of Aliens Area but I have been really enjoying a lot of it. The main difference between the two is Aliens Area doesn't lean towards comedy as much as Chainsaw Man does. I finished chapter 4 and there is 0 fan service in the manga so far, I hate fan service so I greatly appreciate its absence in this manga.
reportRecommended by driveknight
Both manga explore the concept of the relationship between an owner and a human dog in great depth; one depicts the relationship literally, while the other depicts it metaphorically.
reportRecommended by Deago
Aono-kun was recommended by Chainsaw Man author and when you read both you understand why. They both got this edgy/quirky/weird vibe and humor. They don't fear depicting gore things and adress feelings and relationships (as lover, family or as friends) with some kind of twisted logic. They're good at surprising the audience and not letting the reader know where the story is going. It could have been any of Fujimoto's work and not only CSM because they're really on the same wavelength.
reportRecommended by ShougoSen
-Unpredictable and crazy story. -Romantic mixed with dark horror vibes. -Scary & unnatural female character. -Lot of tragedy & gore. -Devoted MC.

Post-apocalyptic nihilism, flawed characters who just want to survive, sick monster designs, morally ambiguous fan service. Somewhat of a visual parallel too.

Both fantasy/adventure titles with darker tones. Both have interesting character and monster designs. Both JUMP titles. Both have great art and humour.

Here's a brief overview of what The Witch and the Beast has to offer that may appeal to Chainsaw Man fans: - Guideau has pretty much the same vibe as Power, in both appearance and personality. - Witches hold a similar preeminence (and narrative role) in this world as demons do in Chainsaw Man's. - Explosive magic filled action that's gripping and conveys a good sense of weight and scale. - MCs work for a shadowy organization that tasks them with tracking down witches, and the story follows a similar episodic arc structure. Overall, W&B leans more into darker themes and building up a sense of mystery around the two  read more

They both have main characters who undergo drastic changes in life style from the first chapter and go on to be thrust into a completely new world and meet all sorts of interesting characters. They both have great art & characters. They are both Shonens and both MC's wield blades. They are also both currently publishing (at the time of writing) popular Shonen Jump series.
reportRecommended by JVskunkape
Stylish, dynamic action. ~Cool overall vibe and character designs. MC is a dumbass, kinda pathetic but likeable. Focus on cool weapons, demon lore, protecting humans and whatnot.
reportRecommended by yubarii
Body-to-weapon modification, light haired more sympathetic MC paired with more aggressive, out for revenge dark haired swordsmen. Uniforms at work and mysterious higher orders. Fluid, beautiful art and action. (the artstyle.. isn't .. that different? Especially late D.Gray-man).
reportRecommended by yubarii
Design of the devils and youkai are somewhat similar but it's mostly the way the story is told that makes me think they are comparable. I am fairly certain that if you like one you'd enjoy the other.
reportRecommended by unnamedhuman
Similar rough art style, fast pacing, goofy sense of humor, and fights against supernatural entities. Both also include a diverse and fantastic cast of characters that go through significant character development and carry the plot.

Ever wanted to see what if Denji was a ninja and the son of the seventh Hokage, look no further than Boruto. I activily remember while reading chainsaw man how much of Boruto's character I saw in Denji, even though I feel Boruto is a more complex and thought out character. The plot in Boruto is enticing and I feel has more appeal than what chainsaw man had to offer.

Depressive. Elfen Lied and Chainsaw Man both follow young people with immense power who have this depressive mood to them, due to not being respected as they should. Elfen Lied does this with Lucy wanting to live a good life but is being hunted down for what she is. CSM does this with Denji essentiality being a dog for Makima. Both are good action manga with both not holding back on the gore that comes to be from deadly fights.
reportRecommended by NextUniverse
MC is a half human half demon, they have supernatural powers, they fight demons, a lot of blood and gore, and with the very, very gruesome fights

They both have main characters who don't want to be the best of the best - Both series contain supernatural monsters (demons and Phantoms) and exorcising so called monsters - Both titles can delve into some pretty dark stuff and have a similar vibe

Politics. In terms of politics, Chainsaw Man and Monster are surprisingly similar using both of these themes as part of a sub-story. CSM does this with references to country wants. Monster does this to references to past political figures and ideas. Both are great manga, with CSM being a crazy action shounen compared to the psychological mystery of Monster.

Really interesting combination of heavy themes with a silly tone that work surprisingly well to deliver a compelling story

This rec may seem far-fetched, but I love these two series for many similar thematic reasons. Umineko's themes dealing in child abuse, especially from the issues of a mother upon a child, have strong parallels to Denji's relationship with Makima. The struggle of breaking a cycle of trauma and abuse through the lens of compassion is a constant theme. The realities of death and grief and how to move on in the aftermath play a huge part in both. Further, both have absurdist and fantasy-laced battles that are more about the characters and their interactions than pure action. They are deeply invested  read more

Tokyo Akazukin is very very gory, very shocking, the characters are pretty much demons that regenerate over and over, (some are, some aren't). The friend groups are very similar (like how they start off as enemies but become frenemies kinda). It's a lot like chainsaw man but with waaay more (really) NSFW panels and sorrow (in my opinion).
