Started watching anime when I was a kid. Fast foward to my senior year of college and I realize that I've watched a lot of shows that I don't remember. I originally made a myanimelist to keep track of the shows I watch and find older shows that I watched when I was younger but now I use it to as recommendation tool to find other anime/manga. I also really enjoy analyzing things so you can imagine that I like being able to rate series and see other people's thoughts on them.

My ratings are a combination of my personal enjoyment of a series and trying to be somewhat "objective" with regards to how well a series compares to others in its genre and how well it gets across whatever it is trying to get across. I think a perfect series isn't one that is flawless, but one that makes its intentions clear and uses narrative tools to get that intention across to the reader/viewer. Long story short, I'm kind of a nerd about analyzing stuff but at the end of the day I think personal enjoyment is the most important thing.

I watch/read a good mix of many genres from slice of life, to shounen action, to mystery thrillers, to romance, and fantasy. I also read a decent bit of manhwa which aren't listed on the site. The only genres I don't watch/read much of are sports and mecha.
