THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Now this is quite something... The artwork is colorful and while I did expect the series to have a lot of comedy, it does feel like it's well adjusted to this anime in general. The most noticable thing so far I noticed from this anime is the transformation scenes. A lot of suggestive camera shots and fan service in this too lul On the other hand, I'm really interested to know more about the characters themselves. This should be a wild ride~ |

Kinda disappointed that they didn't choose a remix of the original opening as a theme song, but oh well. Still a nice start. |

I watched the first episode ... Lol, who said that this shoujo? It's extremely funny ecchi shonen with horse doses of yuri-bait. However, if you are a lesbian, then... In any case, I like how this show handles fanservice and the plot. Although it does not even try to sound serious, at least it's fun enough and not annoying like in other recent ecchi anime. And I'm not talking about a lot of nice nostalgic tropes. |

Thought this episode was nothing special but that was more or less what I was expecting. Having seen all the previous Cutey Honey anime I don't see this topping Shin as the best. |

Alright, verdict for the first episode is... mixed. I'm interested in finding out just what Jill's deal is, since they seem to be taking her in a completely different direction than usual. Other than that, I'm not sold. The action scenes are bad, the animation is bad, there's none of the energy or edginess from previous adaptations, and the biggest crime of all is the loss of the ICONIC Cutie Honey theme song. I'll keep on watching to see where the plot goes, but that wasn't a great first impression. |

I think that was my main bone to pick with the first episode, visually speaking. |

I am honestly disappointed. For once, the series decides to not recycle its iconic theme which really helped give the original series part of its charm. Ironically, I would say its less visually interesting than even the 70's version even with its dated style, does not seem to be as smooth as New and it is not nearly comparable to Imaishi's first episode of Re, which I think does a great job introducing the series. Skeptical as for how the rest shall go. |

I love the crazy mix of retro, dementia, and magic girl elements. The art style has a nice 90s vibe with some modern tweaks and polish. Smooth animation backed by good sound design and music. Very fun first episode. 5/5 |

I love those villain looks. They're so retro in the best way. This feels old school, which I really love, but I am not sure how I feel about comedy and ecchi in this. It's more weird than funny. Also feels like I should've probably watched at least one of the other versions to actually get some character introduction and background. Might pick up one of the earlier versions instead of watching this. |

If you haven't read the original manga - this is pretty close to it. Except the manga is even more absurd, perverted and gross xD. I'm surprised to see this kind of a throw-back. Not bad, but it would be cool if they did something more original like Re:Cutie Honey. I really miss the original theme too, hope they add it later. |

I loved it, I really enjoyed this episode from start to finish. Not sure what all the hate for this episode is because it was far more competent then Persona 5's first episode which was a shit show but that get's a pass because it's Persona and it's "meant to be that way". |

So, i'm not sure how i feel about this shit. Re: Cutey episode 1 is one of my favorite things in the entire world. That's really as far as I got with any of the cutey honey shows, but i know a lot about them from just research. This show just feels cheap? Really gross too. Like, y'know you've fucked up when cutey honey looks "gross". And I don't mean the ecchi and whatnot; this series literally birthed ecchi. It's upsetting to see a Go Nagai property treated like ass again, right after we had such a solid one with the new devilman. Shame. EDIT: I will say though, it looks like it does have a little personality. I'm guessing that's just from the source material, but I digress. I'll probably watch a few more episodes to see where this goes. |

My favorite series was Honey Flash annnd whished it was like a remake of that... but for sure I like how much darker it is... i guess i'll watch the first 5 episodes... if it remains the same... then i'll market it for ppl who's into S & M (ecchi)series... |

Ok so in the first five minutes alone I saw: a bikini girl harem, two chicks kissing, a girl getting turned into Cheetah by a white rose (a literal one not the RubyxWeiss ship from RWBY), a very tall woman who is basecly the female version of Hawkmoth from Miraculous Ladybug, her sidekick spiderwoman with Aku hair, an all female high school with some weird girls, and then two girls having sex in the bushes. And I repeat, that is just the FIRST 5 MINUTES. |

The animation quality feels weaker than any other cutie honey (even the 70s one), Aki just kinda gets BDSM'd for no reason? That felt kinda gross. I feel like if that was in the manga, it was handled more gracefully. Her classmates in the beginning look like dog shit (animation wise and design wise). I would say watch episode 1 of Re: Cutie Honey if you wanna see what I'd want from a new Cutie Honey. |

Why didnt they make Nat-chan a cop like in Re: Cutie Honey? She was so badass in that one. |

Well sadly didn't reach my 'half' expectation compare to Re Cutie Honey (but somehow better than Shin Cutie Honey) but the new plot was refreshing that made me entertained (but not enough fanservice though :( ). The animation was vibrant and lovely but still could been better. Nice thing they captured the Honey's characterization well enough. Also I like the villain's look here compare to originals and looks like the sunday's monster of the week show should be fun. Anyway this was good entertaining episode. Still hoping the old OP will play out later like DC did. :( |

This was just missing that something that made the old series' more than just a show about a magical stripper robot girl. Also, no nipples in the transformation sequence w/o bothering w/ clever camera angles to create a blindspot at least felt like lazy animation.. I don't really mind that they didn't show them, but they showed enough to know that they're missing. ._.;; If DxD can get away w/ nipples in broadcast, why can't something with as much connected cultural significance as Cutie Honey be given a pass by the censors too? |

Big disappointment and I'm saying that as fan of previous series. Playful animation, intriguing dialogues, clever fanservice - everything that was missing here. The tone was needlessly overserious. I get they have star VA but this was direction and script disaster. Trigger should have made this they would be perfect. |
