No matter how many times I rewatch this episode, i always get a feeling so complicated. What really got to me was the narration at the end when the only response Jojo and LisaLisa got was silence. As in most shounen series' cases, he would probably miraculously survive and show up later on at the last minute like nothing happened. But this silent response was a real punch in the face saying no, he's really dead. Also, the fact that they couldn't see or hold him and only knowing he was brutally crushed under the debris made it all the more painful to watch them break down in tears. The way Araki dramatized his death like this really makes it seem realistic.

On a side note, OST CD now plz.

Everyone needs to remember while this episode was still excellent and arguably the best episode of the series yet, this show is still RIDICULOUS and crazy. The Cyborg Nazi Stroheim kind of refutes your point there.

Still love this series though : D

Manly tears are shedding. CEASAR!!!!!!!

Best episode of the show by far! Everything was spot on, the music, the action and the emotional ending. I couldn't have asked for a better episode for Ceasar. Rest well our italian bad boy!

Sad death is sad.
Also Messina, but overshadowed by Caesar's last fight.
I love the song in the end.

HANDS DOWN best episode of the series so far. wonderfully directed. you could really feel the emotion throughout the entirety + it was great to get some caesar backstory. it's a shame he's gone (i really liked him as a character) but i do feel that it was necessary to the story that he die. now jojo has a further reason to fight + he certainly appears a more human character now that he's grieving + lisa lisa's reaction was very moving as well - it fit in so perfectly with her calm yet caring demeanour. i don't know if any of that was coherent, but i'm not too bothered because that episode was just very powerful + i'm still reeling from it tbh.

but Ceasar didn't actually saved anyone and he could beat Wham if he was careful but instead wasted his life. He basically blew it. He had the measure of Wham and he went all "i will directly kill you".
True, it is a waste, but he showed his desire to save at least JoJo by grabbing the pierce ring with antidote. He knew he blew it but as a last act he tried to at least save someone he befriended and bonded. In this aspect he actually saved someone and has followed the Zeppeli's spirit.

As for "why risk getting close? Just throw a tone of those cutters now that he can't move" , it is exactly as you said, it could immobilize him but could not get him killed. And he was about to sneak out of it by using the wind shield again. If we have to complain about anything that would be how Caesar should have approached Wham from another angle so that his body would not block the refracted sunlight hitting Wham, not that he should have not approached him to deliver the final blow.

That is true.

Well if I was a few tad younger, I will make a complaint similar like that. I guess one of the issue, is
Lindle mentions this in on his/her review of Battle Tendency. And this is where it began to change in Part 3.

But lets think realistically(the irony of this usage) this scene doesn't get anymore realism. Caesar is like any other people out there: You are tire, cover in blood, almost going to win, you see your opponent try to make one last attempt to flee. Because you are tired, you just want to end it. So TODOMAEDA!

Sure it will be nice, that Zeppli thinks at the last second, as it never overs until it's over, but wouldn't that be more of Jojo authentic? Besides, even if Zeppli did accidentally blocked the light, its up to Wham(sounds condescending) to use the opportunity, and he did. As all realistic fight goes, use your opponent advantage surrounding against them, and Wham did it. So I'd say kudos to the fight.

2 is an improvement on 1 in that respect, due to this very episode - but it is the ONLY battle in the whole arc that Caesar gets to himself.

Of course it's still a nitpick and I still love Battle Tendency more than I love the majority of my siblings, so yeah.

Fuck me this episode was amazing. The animation was really epic and the action was great.
And Ceaser's death made me cry. This is the first action-ish show to make cry. Instant 10/10 and favorite forever. This show is on a whole other level! I wish he could be saved but this really had impact, and not just a little bit.
I'm really looking forward to more, this shit is epic!

I'm not going to cry...I'm not...going to...cry...Oh, fuk it all! That song at the end just made the tears flow.
It was like some mix of Pavarotti singing 'O sole mio and Bocelli's Il Mare Calmo Della Sera. I cannot wait for the OST.

5/5, of course

Manly tears were shed. I knew Caesar would die at some point of the series, and the episode title gave away somewhat that this could be his final episode, yet the death scene and his dedication until the very end left me awestruck.

And then seeing JoJo and Lisa Lisa cry got me all teary. A very powerful episode.

5/5. Best episode yet!

If David Production can make an already amazing scene from the manga this magnificent then I can't wait for the chariot race and the return of Guile.

Now to wait for the Blu-Ray to come out.

CAESAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TT^TT

The impact of his death could really be felt, I'm still having a hard time getting over it. What I've been missing out of these past years? Jojo is clearly one of the best series I've read/watch in a long time.

Thank you Araki-sensei for making this masterful series <3

So late to this episode discussion. Just wanted to say, I hope this doesn't mean a member of the Zeppeli family will die in every part from here on out. Caesar's death was sad enough. =(

Nothing else to say really. Best episode of the show. Even the fight between Wham and Caesar was exceptional.

I haven't read the manga, but I guessed that Caesar would die since JoJo puts his bandana on in the opening, and he got all his backstory told all at once this episode. Even though I saw it coming, I still felt all the strong sad emotions because of the pure love and devotion that the staff has for this series.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is basically the best thing happening in my life right now.

God damn, that was awesome. The voice acting in this series, especially part 2, has always been very strong but it was on a whole other level this episode. The fight was marvelous, I think my one regret is that Ceaser didn't have many fight scenes. His bubble power is very cool, as ridiculous as it sounds, so it would have been nice to see more of it. The use of the opera music, along with the great voice work from Sugita and Tanaka, made for an even more powerful moment than in the manga.

The last few episodes were all about Joseph, it was hard to care for Caesar here, his death felt underwhelming for a 2nd-main character

Rest of the episode was great

Beautifully executed scenes, the ending tribute and the masses of symbolism present were all well done too, respectful towards the creators fallen creation, and by creator I mean the mangaka, Hirohiko Araki.

When you think about how sad it is to see someone go like this, it must be just has hard, if not harder for the author himself, to see something he/she's poured so much time and effort in, just go, forever, maybe even a little guilt, but people die in real life, and in manga, so why hide it, whether it's beautiful or ugly, soft or violent, it's just the way it is, and as much as I liked Caesar, his role in this series wasn't anything less than excellent, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

P.s So.... Messina was seen on the table twitching in agony during the battle, are we to assume that he just died of bloodloss midway through? Or did everyone flat out forget about him? =/ Let's hope he's alive in episode 21.

Damn. I saw Caeser's death coming due to the intro, but Damn what a send off! Oh the melodrama!! Before this one piece was the most teary eyed anime, but this just might take the cake. The opera music, the Cross shaped stone that crushed Caeser, Jojo's closeup shouting "CAESAR!!!"

Magnificent.

Also that fight between Caesar and Wham was definitely one of the best so far.

Man, the Zeppeli really have a cruel fate :'(
Now I understand why we see JoJo put the headband in the OP...

Caesar fighting style was really top notch in action. Never thought that fighting with bubbles could be badass xD
Those reflecting bubbles were really clever.

Wamuu is now able to counter the sun, but it have it's limit. Not only he seem weaker while it's activated, it look like it served Caesar tactically.

Anyway, rest in peace Caesar, JoJo will pursue your legacy...
