| It's not that names themselves are stupid, but when Japanese use foreign names without checking properly and end up giving male characters female names (or vice versa I guess, but that's rarer) I always find it ridiculous. Like in case of God Eater where (male) MC is called Lenka which is a female name in my language. I couldn't watch that show past first episode because it was too funny for me. |

Subtitles seem split on whether to translate that as "I" or just to use the third person. I'm not familiar with Japanese verb conjugation, but Wikipedia says that they don't conjugate based on subject person (i.e. how we have "I am"/"you are"/"he is"), so that might mean it's less awkward in Japanese since the verb form doesn't change. But you'll find probably ôre stupid for you among all the great names Tomino came up with during all his Gundam years (including non-Gundam series he helmed). | Every anime that tries to use a German name and makes it sound horrible. Good example is Meine Liebe and almost every character in it. Probably doesn't sound weird when you can't speak German, but since it's my native language, it just sounds awkward. |
