THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Wow, Shirogane looks great in her school uniform. At least Masaru's life is somewhat back to normal but I feel bad that he's getting bullied. Pretty much the exact opposite impression that Shirogane made in her class. So much talent! One thing I will say though is that Masaru is really brave for being able to show his scars in front of the class. That takes guts. Shirogane's gym performance was absolutely phenomenal. |

Wow... They skipped over 15 chapters of material from the manga. This means a ton of character development and substance is completely gone. Kinda scared for this adaptation. |

Phenomenal episode! To be frankly honest, I expected this episode to be a lot more grievous in a more hopeless teary manner but oh boy has our boy Masaru matured. It was a delight seeing Masaru mature up so much and in such a crucial short time after a horrendous experience that too, really courageous of him to show off his scars! Keep up the smile, young lad! Damn, those eyes when he was punched too. I’m really starting to like him now, what a strong kid! Class President seems like a really good person too, I’m looking forward to seeing how the duo do. Shirogame, meanwhile, is still a complete badass but that clip of the hospital scene sure was depressing! I really hope she overcomes that and smiles, like a normal person, soon. Her advice of not ‘standing out’ sure backfired on both of them, lol. What a circus performance that was! She even managed to dunk herself in the basketball hoop, xD. Comedy of the episode was on point, too! Shirogane watching over Masaru throughout the day and holding herself back was really pivotal but some of the scenes were hilarious. Bunking her whole first day was cho-very hilarious too. Looks like we’ll get to see Shirogane in a Circus soon, nice to see Masaru caring for her too! I’m not quite sure how he managed to own that mansion and all, but I’m assuming he’s firmly taken over the Saiga fortunes now. Kato’s coming back soon, y’all! Can’t wait to see that happen now! I just knew he wasn’t dead and the key visual kind of gave it away, too. |

When I was reading the manga for this part I knew there were going to be a lot that would be cut, but they really did cut a lot and I'm glad. The staff understood that they don't need all those extra side stories at the beginning and decided to cut it so they could put most of their effort on the later parts that are more important. Also, you can tell there is a lot missing from this adaptation, yet it still works very well. They truly have done a great job up to now in this adaptation (story wise) |

Interesting episode. Even if they skipped some manga content I don't think it really matters to the story if they skipped sidestories without important characters, since Masaru's psichological growth is understandable with the timeskip and his circumstances. It bugs me quite a bit, however, to have Kato killed in one episode only to reveal that he is alive in the next. Kinda undermines how important that moment was. Let's see how this develops next week. |

they skipped all the puppet fight in school arc and the evil tiger arc too for what i can see. Don't remember the characters been so dumb, and don't like the way they introduced the animal trainer (one of my favorite characters between this clowns) well let us see how the people behind this adaptation had screwed up things. |

As manga reader, I don't know if I should be happy or be sad. First, the pacing of this episode is actually surprisingly well, until I realized that ok, they literally skipped vol 4 , 5 ,6 in the end of episode. Those stories may not be the most important in terms of overarching plot, but all of them are very touching and very good, so it's a shame this adaptation have to skip 2 full arcs completely. From here on I'm going to spoil the manga about what this adaptation skips. You can just go read manga vol4~ˊ6 to know what they actually skip that build up the characters so well to begin with. Now those side casts are like background characters with nothing flashed out. First of all, the one who bullied Masaru is actually coming from a very poor family, and his parents' company are at the brink of bankruptcy, that's why he jealous Masaru so much for being super rich that he wants to bully him. One night when they bring knife and try to bully Masaru again, people who're targeting for Masaru's life for the money showed up. Masaru could have easily escape this with the help of Shirogane, but his classmates were on the way and got kidnapped instead. Masaru willingly sacrifice himself to be kidnapped in place of his classmates. After incident is over (some pretty good fight sequence involving those 3 circus guys which flash out their characters abit), the guy who bullies Masaru finally understand Masaru's situation and decide to befriending him for the first time. They share one ice popsicle together because that bullied guy only have enough money to buy one. Masaru knowing his situation may attract more killers and put his classmates in danger, decides to join the Circus because they travel around alot. Before he goes , he left a big sum of money to his new friend who's family is in financial crisis. His new friend cried: "I didn't befriended you because I want your money! I really want to become good friend with you" You see this sequence flashout Masaru's characters much more than just flat out saying "Hey, Let's join circus because reasons." Also there's a high chance they skip another good arc of the circus animal trainer girl. She has a sister who got killed by a ferocious lion who hunts down trainers and people. So she brought her tiger to combat the lion. She is actually suicidal at that point because her twin sister died in front of her by that lion. She decided to kill herself / die along with the lion after she hunts it down. Masaru helps her overcome her self inferiority and her suicidal mentality , that she can finally face herself and not live under her twin sister's influence anymore. She with her tiger + Masaru + Shirogane finally able to hunt down the lion. At the end of the arc, she rides on her tiger and jump through the fire rope (it's actually burning buildings) as a symbol of overcoming her self weaknesses. Again, even though it doesn't has anything to do with the overarching plot of the story, it's serve as "character arcs" to make them more alive. |

Good Episode, you can tell how much has Masaru developed since Narumi's disappearance (Death (?) ) Shirogane is really something, definitely one of the best females of the season. Props to Masaru tho, A little bit of bullying won't compare to being abused all thanks to his father. |

Apparently this episode skipped a lot of content, but from an anime-only viewer, it never felt like that to me except the ending. Still, its a great episode and I'm glad Masaru is trying to make Narumi happy by learning how to smile all the time, no matter the problems that hit him. That was sweet. |

Very good episode, Masaru and Shirogane move forward with their lives, but Narumi's words remain in their hearts. Shirogane's school day was great, simply perfect, all her male classmates drool over the spectacular Shirogane and the girls are also enthralled. The gym class was the best part, the other presumptive girl was overshadowed by the spectacular flexibility of Shirogane and the end where she goes through the hoop of basketball was epic. Masaru also had a difficult day, his old bully's continue to molesting him, but Masaru holds remembering his savior words, when one of the boys hit Masaru and he looked back, i thought the boy would piss in his pants when he saw the eyes of Masaru. Masaru asks Shirogane to join the circus, although she wants to fulfill her duty as a guardian, she decides to obey Masaru's will, the other members of the circus seems to my very funny and the girl Liselotte, i feel that she has a hard past, her eyes tell that. The end gave me a lot of hope, Narumi is still alive, but what will happens when he wakes up? |

Very good episode, setting down the pace a bit was certainly necessary at this point. Renouncing to several side stories is a given in any adaptation of this kind and after reading @Ventus_S 's comment in what they have seemingly skipped makes me think they approached this nicely. Of course each plotline might be okay by itself, but I don't necessarily think you need to spend time in every character to make them more relevant. Like, one could argue the whole "kid being jealous of his money because his family is in a poor economic situation" is not really needed and kinda cheesy on top of that. It also helped that this episode didn't contain any puppeteer action for the change, you don't want that to lose relevance or get boring by overdoing it. But then there's the fact they might not skip that, if it is the trigger that convinces Masaru to join the circus as well (since this didn't happen in the episode). Maybe they just decided to prematurely include the Narumi shot there as a mere cliffhanger. After all, I don't think anyone believed he died. |

I am so glad they showed Narumi's revelation/mystery quicker which was great decision imo. Also skipped few some weaker parts but sadly skipping some even little content might affect later on especially seeing the little character development helps us to appreciate/attach to the character cast's depth bit more. Still though I thought this episode was better well paced and enjoyable. Cool seeing Shirogane doing insane stuff lol and also nice seeing Masaru's change as well. I am glad they at least dedicated one chill episode. |

I loved this episode. Masaru got to shine with his maturity and Shirogane showed off, which was really entertaining. It was cool to see the result of Masarus development , but it would've been more impactful if they didn't skip some stuff. Well, guess I'm going to read the manga alongside in order to get the most out of this adaptation. |

Aaaand Narumi is alive. Nothing surprising, since the key visual basically spoiled he was going to survive, but I'm happy, since I liked him and I didn't want the show to kill him so early in the series. Masaru is in a path of becoming a real badass. He still has a long way to go, but I really hope he becomes a true one by the end of the series. This new circus dynamic should be interesting. It was about time that a series with "Circus" in its name would feature an actual one xD |

So Narumi somehow didn't lose his life, just his arm. Normally I would be mad, but I really like him so I'm only relieved. Shirogane and Masaru's new life without him, at least for now, is looking promising too, but I really didn't like how Shirogane told Masaru to not "stand out" so that he wouldn't be bullied. The sad part is that she was saying it out of her own experience, but it certainly isn't the right mindset to have. Masaru doesn't help it either, "just because" he went through hell, the bullying seems trivial to him now. Okay, in scale it certainly is, but it doesn't mean he should accept people trampling over him, but it seems that his scars were enough to fend off the bullies, so I hope scenes like these won't happen again. Shirogane skipping class to check on him, and wanting to save him from it all with Arlequin was really cool though. xD And that circus seems interesting enough, the guy with the red shirt is hot, and the girl seems nice; I guess that with Shirogane their rent money isn't going to be a problem for much longer. |

Just saying, Narumi lost his arm because he's protecting Masaru from the water pressure after breaking the water tunnel. (High water pressure cut things easily) Since anime skip the water tunnel part, it makes little sense how he only manage to lost an arm but not burn to crisp along with Masaru :/ Let;s see how anime adaptation gonna explain this mess after it goes back to Narumi's part. |

Garbage episode compared to the previous ones,I can handle a lot of bullshit(like the way masaru survived jumping from 30 meter high tower or surviving the fire, the laughing thingy syndrome or Kato inspirational speeches every now and then) but why bring in the school trope, and why shiragane has to go to school as a transfer student she is at least 20 year old,it would be better if she was a French teacher. I hate how masaru always acting like he wants people to pity him, that whole scars drama was really bad and unnecessary, could have been better if he grew some balls and stood to those bullies. Thank godness Kato is still alive (I thought killing him that early would be the dumbest writing decision) |

Those moves by Shirogane at the gym class were amazing as expected from an ex circus performer. But I guess she won't be an ex for long since Masaru has suggested she focus on herself in order to contain a genuine smile someday. And those scars on Masaru were pretty bad, that is one strong boy for what he has gone through and he was able to force a smile even through that. I see Narumi is alive but I'm not guessing how since he looked completely decimated from the fire, but the hand did give a hint he was alive though but it's the how that is the mystery. And it also looks like someone is keeping him alive. Can't wait for the disclosure next week. |

Saw a few comments about the skips from the manga. As a person who is only watching the adaptation of this, it feels like it's being strung together pretty well and it doesn't make you feel like anything major is missing. Whether that feel continues down the line over the next....31 weeks is yet to be determined. However, I gotta say that Masaru's dank factor is growing. |

Okay this the first time I have been majorly disappointed with this adaptation. I don't mind if they skip a couple of side stories but why did they skip Liselotte's arc. Like my dream was to watch an animated version of that Tiger driving an 18 Wheeler into a mall and now that will never come to pass unless they like bring it in a different episode. |

Wtf, they've made Shirogane into a High School girl?????? Narumi is still alive, when he's suppose to be dead??????? And Masaru despite of all the shot he took from a lotta bad men, was still taking more shit from bullies and he didn't even fought back even letting Shirogane to the dirty work for him. Man, does that run down house that the old man lives a Circus????? Cu'z it looks more like a freakshow hall that can found in Coney Island NY. So I'm guessing that Masaru's other greedy family members ain't done yet and may have taken Narumi as their science project. Ya know the only good thing in this garbage ep is Shirogane's fanservice. |

You have her working at the circus to find the rampaging tiger, essentially you reorder the events and I have a sneaking suspicion they will run through Narumi's first arc before focusing on Lisselotte. They also will probably end up shoving Vilma into the show before the end of the first cour at the pace they are going. I do not think we will get many of the circus moments from Masaru's parts in the manga. |

This show grows on you. I was planning to read the manga but I've been busy with work, business, etc. Anyway, the first episode was just okay then it keeps getting BETTER AND BETTER. I can't wait to catch up on the manga since I'm only on the first chapter lol This episode was very touching. Seeing Masaru bravely reveal what happened to him to his classmates. Also, his class president and him are slowly growing closer I guess? Plus, Shirogane has her own little groupie of gyaru girls who admire her. Everyone loves her anyway, she's the show's madonna and muse. Also, NARUMI is alive! Masaru don't you dare stick your shouta sausage into Shirogane. She and Narumi are my OTP! Another calm but good episode! bullies again! oh man! But Masaru is different now not even a direct punch from that kid would have any effect on him! he's gone a hundred times more worse situations like this! nice! we have new characters! and Shirogane's performing circus by the request of Masaru! Shirogane's body bending performance was intense but excellent! oh man! I really thought there's no news on what happened to Narumi but good thing there's a small teaser! and yes looks like its is a prosthetic combat weapon left arm! nice! I wonder if there's a new group or someone important that's responsible for Narumi's survival? 5/5. |
