It’s funny, that’s pretty much how I feel about the lack of focus in some shounen shows. But for whatever reason, I thought the North No.2 storyline fit in perfectly in Pluto. Execution/writing/preference, I guess. I totally understand, and would often have the same issue. Not typically a fan of episodic shows.

Good to hear (not dropping it). I thought the first episode was overall pretty terrific. The North No.2 portion was especially strong.

But here’s hoping you’ll like the other episodes more.
Giger426 Mar 29, 7:25 PM
Ah, yes, episode 19. It’s understandable. Anyway, hope you’ll find that “next special anime” this Easter. :)
Giger426 Mar 29, 12:05 AM
Fair point, it wasn’t exactly stellar writing, more a case of, “Look at all the pretty colors and ufotable going wild with the sakuga.” Which is pretty much what I’m expecting from the final arc, so some fun should be had. Props to you for reading it all!
Giger426 Mar 28, 8:55 PM
Haha, that sounds promising. I didn’t mind the Entertainment District Arc, or specifically that episode… ep 10 I think. At this point I have to see it through, filler and all. Hopefully the last arc(s) will be worth it?
Giger426 Mar 28, 12:02 AM
I think the ufotable folks usually stick to one arc per season (and naming them accordingly… Mugen Train Arc, Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, Hashira Training Arc). If I was a betting man, I’d say milking the franchise/filler. But again, maybe it’ll be terrific. Who knows?
Giger426 Mar 27, 9:18 PM
It sure would be…

“Demon Slayer season 4 will follow on from the end of the Swordsmith Village arc (chapters 98-127 of the manga) by adapting the Hashira Training arc (chapters 128-136).”

Needless to say, the reactions are interesting. Many people speculate that the season will include some other bits (such as light novel stuff), as well.

Sounds like a plan, you can’t really go wrong with Inio Asano.
Giger426 Mar 27, 7:58 PM
True. The upcoming season will (in)famously only adapt 9 chapters, so we’ll see. I admittedly haven’t fully read Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction, but I’m hoping it’ll come together as two movies (A Silent Voice was around 7 volumes, I think? Perhaps lightning will strike twice).
Giger426 Mar 27, 9:30 AM
I also prefer series, but I’ll check out the odd anime movie. I have the unpopular opinion that many anime adaptations could use some judicious editing and trimming. Mostly shounen, such as the 2023… erm… “demon anime” season. Anyway, Reiko Yoshida had to leave out quite a bit in the A Silent Voice adaptation, but nothing felt rushed or missing.

Pluto is like 19-20 episodes long… just in an 8-episodes package. :) Maybe reconsider it if the manga didn’t grab your interest. They’re fairly close. It’s been a while since I read the first volume, though.
Giger426 Mar 26, 6:34 PM
The writer who adapted A Silent Voice to a movie did a great job, I’m assuming/hoping she’ll do the same with Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction.

Sounds interesting re: Kijin! I’ll keep it in mind, look for its PVs, key art, the usual.

Haha. Well, something will come along. Perhaps you’d like Pluto. Not perfect by any means, but a solid watch.

Kijin Gentoushou… haven’t heard much about this one yet. I’ll add it to my watchlist. Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction, Dandadan, and Kaiju No. 8 are non-sequels, but I hear you. :) Uzumaki should appear sometime between 2024 and 2034. Meanwhile, you have tons of great anime on your watchlist.
Giger426 Mar 26, 7:13 AM
The seasons are very close (for me), but I lean towards the second one… the character writing, visuals, pacing, etc. Askeladd is a good point.

As for anime in the upcoming months - there’s more Haikyu!!, Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction (the Silent Voice screenwriter adapting Inio Asano), RE:Zero S3, Dandadan, Kaiju No. 8, My Hero Academia S7, Mushoku Tensei, Beastars… more Golden Kamuy, Chainsaw Man, Dorohedoro, Uzumaki, and One Punch Man are underway. Always hidden gems, too.
Giger426 Mar 26, 5:27 AM
Haha. Yeah, especially Vinland Saga S2 raised the bar to an astronomical level. One of my favorite (TV) seasons ever. But I hope you’ll find some other good shows. Lots of stuff with potential being released this year.

Cheers! Just getting ready for Easter. Yourself? :)
