As the title suggests, do the voice actors in an anime influence how people vote? For example, if Kana Hanazawa voices a character in an anime, I am likely to rate the anime higher. I don’t just mean in the sound category and how the voice actors get into character. Maybe a better example is Stella no Mahou; because I just started it after Kobayashi!s dragon maid, will myself or others rate it higher because Kanna’s Voice actor is the same as Tamaki’s?

Of course, Voice Actors are second after Idols, they are like gods for their fans.

Anime is also about stage play, concerts and many other things weabs don't see.

If a voice of a character influences your immersion into the plot (must be really good or bad in my opinion), then it should influence the score. If you're voting it up or down just because you find out someone you like is involved with the show, then that's bad form. You can rate however you want, but you're not being focused on the show in itself at this point. It's like agreeing with an idea because of the person who said it instead of the contents of the idea. Like maybe you'd actually think murder was horrible, but if Brad Pitt said it, you'd be first in line to be a serial killer.

If I see that there is a voice actor I like, it's more likely a watch the anime, but it's unlikely that it'll actually influence my final score. What can influence my score is the audio aspect in general, not just a seiyuu.

I see it like this - if the voice cast is good/appropriate, then it's unnoticeable and doesn't break my immersion, so it doesn't affect the score. if its a miscast, or just below-average quality, then it drags down the score. as to who is actually cast that's neither here nor there in terms of rating, in my opinion.

Voice acting is absolutely crucial for the characters of a show.

A bad voice acting would totally ruin a show, it is that critical.
Fortunately most of Japanese anime producers are very serious about the voice acting, so it's not that big of the deal most of the time.

PS: I don't care about who voice it as long as it gets the job done.
Riku's voice actor from Made in Abyss is kinda new to the industry, only being 17 years old, but she voiced the character Riku PERFECTLY.

Well, I don't give a shit who does the voice acting. But if the voice acting is good, then that is definitely going to raise the score. Alas, I'm no expert in japanese voice acting, I mean maybe you present me with a tommy wiseau of japanese and because I don't know shit about japanese I'll think it is good because I liked it.

I pay attention to voice acting, more often with main characters than side characters or extras, and the only time I take it into consideration when rating is if the acting stands out for being either excellent or garbage. If the performances in an anime are average then it'll probably go unnoticed and won't influence my score. Still, voice acting alone won't change my ratings, it's just another factor I take into account.

A strong performance can go a long way and greatly enhance the impact of dialogue, a great example of this is in episode 13 of Welcome to the NHK when

Also, some of my favourite characters like Gintoki, Araragi, Osaka and Kagura would be nowhere near as entertaining if they had different VAs, so voice acting is pretty important to me.

Exactly. Just imagine Danshi Koukousei no nichijou without Sugita Tomokazu, or the other plethora of amazing voice talent. Wouldn't be near the same.

Same goes for Gintama IMO

Half the time (literally about half the series I've watched) I watch stuff dubbed, and no matter what language I watch stuff in, I don't think I've ever rated stuff based on the choice of voice actors. I don't even recognize them, heck -- I can recognize their names more easily than I can recognize their voices, and I'm not good with Japanese names.

Although I feel like voice actors are a crucial part of anime, I tend to not include it in my ratings. Half of the anime I watch get dubbed so unless I've watched it in both sub and dub, I leave it out my reviews/ratings.

Favorite seiyuu helps me pay attention and get attached to the characters more. "Characters" holds the second most important element after "Enjoyment" for me. So yeah, it helped raising my final scoring.

While I do have a bias towards certain voice actors, I do not rate an anime higher simply because it has a voice actor I like. What I pay attention to is their performance. If they don't do anything special, then the anime rating won't be affected. If they do something that gets my attention though, then I might boost up the rating a bit.

Take for example Mamiko Noto voicing Ai Enma from Jigoku Shoujo: Yoi no Togi and Morioka Moriko from Net-juu no Susume. Noto as Enma was pretty standard. Enma does what Enma does. Not a bad role, but it was nothing different from the usual. However, Noto as Moriko brought the character to life, and that gets a positive reception from me.

And remember that having famous voice actors in an anime alone won't necessarily boost the rating. Take a look at Ousama Game. ^_^

I don't know any VAs by name.
But bad VAs make an anime bad despite how good everything else could be. It's like 50% of the anime is having to hear these fuckers talk (with exceptions).

I always thought that the Japanese voice acting are one of the best things when it comes to anime. There are times when I pay attention and not since story and characters are the ones I pay attention the most but I do tend to be like "Hey, this voice sounds familiar." and then I straight went to MAL and searched for the voice actor of the character.

Help, I'm hooked into the Fate series (not all) and am obsessed with Shirou x Saber!
Also, forever hoping for a ufotable remake of the Fate route!

No, I just can't do that mainly due to the fact that Saiga Mitsuki has voiced the MCs of two of my favorite anime (Jomy from Terra e...(TV) and Teito from 07-ghost) and at the same time she has also voiced the worst character in animanga world (Wolfram from Kyo Kara Maoh). There is nothing wrong with Saiga-san's voice acting, she has done a great job, it's obvious when you watch Kyo Kara Maoh related seiyuu events but the character is just so bad that he's the main reason I reduced the score if anything.

Although I might develop somewhat of a bias for any character who is voiced either by Toshiyuki Morikawa or Akira Ishida.

They do have their fanbase I guess. I don't know how much in the Western fandom but most definitely in the East. Also no. Obviously not all voice actors play great characters in great shows so even if the vocal talent is on point it won't particularly raise it. In all honesty the only amount of voice thought I give is towards the overall cast and English dubs.

I'm probably a bit more likely to like a character if I like its seiyuu, then impacting my enjoyment of the whole thing. But in general, no, if the anime sucks except for one seiyuu I like, I'll not raise its score.

Very seldom. But I seriously picked up Houseki no Kuni because of Kurosawa Tomoyo for her role as Oumae Kumiko in Hibike! Euphonium and I am glad that I did! She did an amazing job in that anime. Probably one of the most underrated seiyuu right now! And my rating for that anime has a lot to do with how she performed as Phosphophyllite.

PHOS IS LOVE!

Also, I am over the moon because Sugita Tomokazu and Sawashiro Miyuki will be in Wotakoi! I am super hyped because they are gonna voice my favourite couple in that manga!

Saiyuuki is in my CW list, and it's a very boring anime despite having Seki Toshihiko, Akira Ishida, and Hoshi Souichirou. Speaking of which, I love Hoshi's voice but I wish he was in better anime. Nana Mizuki and Sakurai Takahiro don't make the fillers in Black Butler any less cringe and badly written.

Alphonse, Nena, Kagura, Rise, Shannon, Happy, Juuzou, Kiana, etc are not tsunderes though, don't hate on VAs for the crime of voicing characters you hate.

Recently, one of the biggest reasons I’ve gotten more into anime is because of voice actors, especially Kayano Ai. Her performances bring so much emotion and personality to the characters she plays, which makes the stories way more engaging. When a VA is as talented as her, it really raises the whole experience and sometimes even gets me to check out shows I might not have watched otherwise.

I genuinely think voting is futile given the house always wins. I do believe bad pr exists so some ads can grow the opposition. I think celebs have some influence, but not enough to singlehandedly secure any election.

Demonizing certain groups can cause them to flip sides like how modern Ye arc is going.
