For a slice of a life show, there's quite a bit of background storytelling in this. Once again, we got to see the see a young Kouta and granny.

I really feel bad for the dude with what he has been going through now. The show maintains a balance of light and moody atmosphere, something that I find surprisingly working well so far. Really glad to see other characters supporting Kouta.

Once again a good episode, the theme is just nicely executed and the characters are likable as well.

I was kinda expecting them to dive right into the issues of a new character, but having Kouta actually admit he likes Purin was still pretty impactful.

Why does this anime want me to believe that I'm watching a bunch of really sensitive straight boys, while they are obviously just gay af? xD (I'm not complaining tho...) And I'm not talking about the "we love these cute things" stuff, no, I'm talking about how they behave and speak with eachother. Gosh the yaoi tense is so storng!!

That was another sweet and touching episode. I really liked it. There's something about grandma love that just tears me up.

On a side, that was the cleanest recycling depo I’ve ever seen.

This show is so cute! Wasn't expecting it to have so many feels but it's a pleasant surprise. Idk why the score is so low, though! It reminds me of all my male friends who were/are into My Little Pony: FiM. A lot of the people in the fandom got made fun of endlessly for it. People can be cruel sometimes.

It was a bit overdramatic, but everything ended up rather nicely :) I do like the message of nothing being ashamed of what you like. And given the end of the episode, now it makes even more sense why Yuu is so passionate about openly liking something. Seems like he's got his own share of problems, with his younger sister.

Wow this episode had me tearing up. Totally hit home at some parts.

Sanrio be doing all the right things. Instead of a corny cutesy anime this story has plot.

And daaaaaaaang kaichou-san, you be looking like a snack.

ikr...if it turns into anything remotely like makuranodanshi, I will kill. But this episode was cute aside from this little bit and the over dramaticized feelings of Kouta.

Another solid episode, although a little overdramatic. I wasn't expecting to actually like this series but so far I am definitely enjoying it and looking forward to the next episode!

This anime is so stupid, but I kinda like it. The drama over liking a cute little thing and the amount of weight it has over this show, is hilarious when you think about it.

It's also funny to see these shoujo cute boy tropes in a non-parody setting (Osomatsu-san's F6 but without a shoujo protag). Now I'm not ragging on it for that - anime girls obviously have cliche tropes as well, but c'mon there's even a tsundere loli boy and manservice, etc.

I'm not won over by the characters. For some reason the protagonist hasn't clicked as properly likeable to me and none of the side characters have either. I also want to mention Kouta's "exposition friend". The boring blond guy who just straight up tells Kouta (us watching) about who the characters in the school are and why we should care about them. That character is unintentionally funny. The other friend is the overly-genki overly-disappointed dude. Why are these so common in anime. It's like he's permanently trying way too hard.

There is a certain charm to this anime though, dumb though it may be. I want to keep watching. The drama with pretty boy's sister might actually be interesting.

Over dramatic? Yeah, I think so. Unrealistic problem? Not at all.

I am glad that Kouta was able to get over his personal feelings of embarrassment by deciding to take small steps for his own sake. His stubbornness in not seeing his grandmother before she passed is my biggest annoyance in this series so far (the thought of it makes me so angry on a personal level) and he has a long way to go. I want him to feel like he can forgive himself.

Even before the preview for episode 3, we were foreshadowed that Yuu had a personal reason for avoid him home without being given some huge dramatic scene right away. I think this was a good choice for pacing.

I feel the opposite about Seiichiro and Ryou's interaction. Mostly I am worried this is queerbaiting in the making, but I want to give the show a chance to play out before I pass any harsh judgement on these characters overall.

That part was so awkward and out of place, hopefully that is a one time occurrence. I wasn't even sure if that was supposed to be a 4th wall break at first, but when the camera shook as if to say "no", I let out an audible "what the hell".

About those first person viewing moments. It's basically just self insert moments that lead to the commerial break. Which is fine, I've seen a way worst version of that.

There was already a scene like that in the first episode. When Touka collided into a girl, we saw the scene from the girl's point of view.

Since the two first episodes did have a scene like that, I expect that all episodes will have one.

Seems like the MC fully solved the biggest obstacle in his life in just two episodes. I wonder how they will expand the rest of the cast in terms of character exploration and development. Just how many types of issues can arise from Sanrio products?

And gosh I feel right at home. A bit of drama is nice for a "slice of life" anime...?

I didn't expect this series to make me so emotional haha. I cried again. I'm such a sucker for grandma or mom stories like this. They make me so sad.
It's also quite deep with people hiding what they love and makes them happy because there are jerks in the world who want to make you feel bad about it.
I remember in elementary school i would bring my yu-gi-oh cards and the kids would say "I was a boy" because I liked them. It made me cry but I'm so glad I never hid it. I just played with people who liked me and those are the people that matter.
Also I love that store. I need to go.

Second episode maintains my interest just as well as the first. I don't know how much of a fan I am about the self-insert stuff that seems to be happening at the middle of each episode. It feels a little like blues clues. I do really like the theme of working hard to be honest with yourself though and I think it is really meaningful that Yuu, the most brave boy, has the most pressing difficulty in being true to himself since his sister hates him for it. I'm really interested to see how that pans out and if he can reconcile with her.

The drama is so over-the-top. When Kouta was frantically searching for his lost Pompompurin plush, I ended up laughing with tears in my eyes, unsure if that was supposed to be intentional or not. It is not that I dislike this series so far; in fact, the characters (and Sanrio) are enjoyable to watch, but the serious parts feel unnecessary. I just do not understand why there needs to be drama. For all I know, I might be overthinking about this series though.

If Sanrio Danshi had ended up being purely slice-of-life, I would be all for it.

The mom should have taken this show along when she threw out the trash.
I think maybe her throwing out Purin was symbolic of her trying to dump on the show too.
I'm honestly realizing once again that I never really liked Hello Kitty or most of the characters associated with it.
Like, I felt that was as a kid, thought I was just trying to be edgy once I hit senior year in high school, but now I'm just back in that boat. Like, I just never really cared about Hello Kitty, and actually, I always kinda found Hello Kitty to be something everyone could enjoy.

Sighs.
Then ya got Yuu over here like with some sister problems. Like, exactly, Kouta, "Who are you?" Like, who cares? You just had a whole thing about not giving a crap, so why even have the scene? That crappy drama too.
I am glad that Kouta finally grew some balls and accepted his interests kinda. We'll see if he can redeem himself.

This episode was so cheesy and I mean that in a good way!

I feel like I can relate to Kouta because I’m an adult who comes from a generation where it was considered embarrassing to be an anime fan. And of course there’s always that thing of ‘you’re too old to like anime’ so… totally get where he’s coming from
