Boku no Hero Academia

The appearance of "quirks," newly discovered super powers, has been steadily increasing over the years, with 80 percent of humanity possessing various abilities from manipulation of elements to shapeshifting. This leaves the remainder of the world completely powerless, and Izuku Midoriya is one such individual.

Since he was a child, the ambitious middle schooler has wanted nothing more than to be a hero. Izuku's unfair fate leaves him admiring heroes and taking notes on them whenever he can. But it seems that his persistence has borne some fruit: Izuku meets the number one hero and his personal idol, All Might. All Might's quirk is a unique ability that can be inherited, and he has chosen Izuku to be his successor!

Enduring many months of grueling training, Izuku enrolls in UA High, a prestigious high school famous for its excellent hero training program, and this year's freshmen look especially promising. With his bizarre but talented classmates and the looming threat of a villainous organization, Izuku will soon learn what it really means to be a hero.

i'd held off on watching this anime for a while since i personally don't like watching mainstream anime (or even those set up as shonen) since they tend to stretch plotlines and occupy screentime as much as possible, but i was pleasantly surprised by this series and what it set out to do. of course, standard disclaimer for all my reviews in that i haven't read the associated manga, but the first season of Boku no Hero Academia shows so much promise, with a set of characters that fit specific tropes (not always the ones we may believe initially) and an overarching plot that sets ... out to show the story of accomplishment through sheer willpower and the belief in one's self-worth. the series can be a bit cumbersome at times, with multiple sequences turning into the "naruto stare-and-see" type scenarios (where it's just a period of a few minutes where there's almost no development and is instead filled with scenes of characters staring at each other with overwhelming determination. the series does suffer from having a primary protagonist who's essentially just a floppy piece of bread and ultimately amounts to the default trope of "standard anime character who can't accomplish anything worthwhile, but is seeing their circumstances change in a way that forces him to act outside his comfort zone. deku isn't a great character, but seeing his classmates develop around him is what makes this series great in my opinion, and sets the stage for some really interesting subplots and interactions between different characters and factions down the line, which i believe is the most important factor in this series being solid in the long run.

verdict? give it a watch if you're into action and superhero anime, though if you want something fresh and new, then this might not be for you since it will follow the path of a go-lucky and happy anime with consequences that never end up seeming permanent.

Mixed Feelings

"​If you ever wondered "what if Rock Lee was a Gary Stu?" this anime is the result of that. The series begins and we are introduced to a protagonist who is noble but is a victim of bullying, lacks friends, and is unable to fulfill his greatest dream, all due to his lack of a "quirk." However, the series waits no time until giving him the best power in the series, along with personal mentorship from the most powerful hero and a group of friends. This is because the most powerful hero took notice of him to be his successor due to a random act ... of kindness he witnessed. If My Hero Academia were a poem or a much more symbolic series, this detail could be overlooked, but that is not the case, as the series straightforwardly establishes that the greatest power of all was passed on by such a mundane act as the one shown to us. Looking beyond the protagonist, things are not particularly better. The secondary characters are characterized by just one trait with very few exceptions; throughout the series, only 2 villains are introduced, one being a personality-less monster, while the other seems to be the final villain, yet the series fails to address this character at all.
The animation, direction, and music are quite good, but what truly stands out, in my opinion, are the character designs; all characters have a very distinctive and interesting facial or body structure. However, these achievements are not significant enough to compensate for the plot and characters, which at best are mediocre. "If it is that bad why is muxed feelings?" well, if you are the kind of people that can turn-off his brain and only think about flashy things happening in the screen you may like it

A very below mid anime thats been falsely gassed up by people with no taste

Boku no Hero Academia is one of the worse animes I have watched lately for it has nothing really special about it nothing to make me wanna keep watching it. There were many moments where I said to myself "This cannot be this bad" yet it was and I decided to keep watching in hopes that it will somehow get better after another episode yet what i hoped for never became true. The story for this anime is very boring and predictable there wasnt a single moment of excitment while ... i was watching this anime.

BNHA lacks good concepts, has very bad characters and is something i wouldnt recommend watching
