If you have nostalgia for SEED, you might like the movie. If you were thinking of using this as an excuse to finally catch up on CE (like me), then maybe you should reconsider.

The visuals were good. The CGI was fine. The music was great, as it was throughout the series.

The writing is the weakest part here. The plot always moves linearly in a predictable direction. The new antagonists are flat. Some of the characters just did not seem consistent with where they were left off in Destiny, it's only been a year since then. Kira once again has a new internal conflict to ponder ...

based off on the mobile game magia record, the anime tries to write an enitrely new story where this timeline will fail. all of the characters are fucking amazing. they all get their own arcs, yachiyo is gay with iroha. (which is wierd, iroha is only 15)
magia record expands on the world that madoka magica introduced, there's groups of magical girls, an entire city full of them. a god damn boarding house that yachiyo owns to live with her team ...

Otome Game Flag is quite a good comedy. It is fun, the pacing is okay, the characters are charismatic, the production is okay, the intro is good, and the jokes and comedic scenarios are mostly good.

That being said, I watched from episodes 1-7 in basically one sitting, but the second half of the show was much worse, because the comedy started to get stale and the focus from the series changed drastically to drama

I watched the dub in theater a few months ago during a special showing, and HOLY STYLE it was good! Incredible animation, great fight choreography, awesome dogfight scenes, and great voice acting. Recommendation
If you like more dominant lolis in a vanilla "plot" and don't care about a lack of story, then I can recommend this hentai to you. Even if you only like vanilla I can recommend it.

Story
We actually barely see any story and the ... story we do see is thrown in bits and pieces in flashbacks with no context. Tiffany is a demon, more specifically a succubus, and draws her energy from the sexual act. Chloe is a half-demon and steals the life energy of the person opposite during the sexual act. She was locked in a cage by humans as a child and hates humans. The two need a sex partner and the protagonist seems to offer himself there. At first he resists, but it ends quickly.

Visuals
The art style is cool and the way the cover looks. The animations are clean, except for two moments. The hover animation is bad... As if someone cut out an image and dragged it across the screen. Luckily they only float for a very short time.
There is also a shot where the blonde is riding him, we get his front perspective, with her body lying (the frame rate is probably too low), but the moment is only brief and can be forgiven.
The "plot" scenes are repetitive in the process and animations, but the negative attribute is lost due to the regular change in good perspectives. I've rarely seen anything so good (that's praise, even if it doesn't sound like it).
The lips are not well synchronized (voice acting works, but sometimes the animation of the mouth stays with whatever happened before (e.g. heavy breathing during orgasm) even though people are talking). But you can ignore that.

Characters
They actually have personalities. Tiffany is dominant, cheerful, friendly and just a little aggressive. Chloe is dominant, but quickly gives it up, vindictive, hates people who she quickly dismisses, and becomes quite friendly and reserved.
The dude just exists, first complains, then joins in voluntarily, then complains again and then joins in again... He's somewhat friendly, but basically he doesn't have much of a personality.

Audio
The vioce acting of the two girls is very good, but something is wrong with the dude.
He doesn't have any real ups and downs in voice acting... Of course you can hear a few emotions, but I think that's far too weak.
Whoever thought that the music should be louder during the "plot" even though they are talking: why? It fits 0. Otherwise the music does its job, but in episodes 1 and 2 there is a moment where in the middle of "plot" the music gets unnecessarily louder, but whatever...
The sounds are good and appropriate, but it's also hard to fail.

Eroticism
Boy that was good. They didn't build up the sexual tension, but the "plot" itself was convincing with all the components it contained. All negative points can easily be ignored, even if the music thing is really annoying the second time you watch it, but whatever. The build-up of ecstasy would be better, but she also likes the hentai at least on average. The vanilla genre was implemented brilliantly, despite there being little scenery. I would recommend it for that reason alone.

I really liked Ninos arc and Yotuba was also really enjoyable :) the author nigha was spiting this part of the story for the most part.

tl;dr: The hilarious story of a prince whose plans turn out surprisingly successful, though without much substance beyond that.

This anime is centered around Wein Salema Arbalest, crown prince of the nation of Natra, who upon his father falling ill comes to lead the nation. This anime chronicles the various problems that Natra is faced with and how Wein uses them as stepping stones to grow Natra. The world this anime takes place in is a fantasy world. However, there’s no magic, dragons, demons or anything like that. It’s going for something more grounded, and while the result certainly isn’t a realistic medieval society, it’s still ... a setting that’s pretty rare when it comes to anime. This results in things playing out very differently from other similarly premised anime like Realistic Hero or MaoYuu.

The original title of the novels was “The Genius Prince’s Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt (Hey, How About Treason?).” The first arc fits that full title pretty well. In it, Natra says that he doesn’t want to deal with the difficulty of leading a nation so he plans to sell it out and live an easy and comfortable life with his ill gained earnings. Though he needs to make Natra worth selling out in order to do so, and thus he tries to lead it well but not too well as that would mean more work for him. However, the fates conspire both for and against him and his plans go much better than he expected and though Natra makes major gains, he’s forced to do a lot more work which he hates. Now to be clear, Wein isn’t dumb. He does come up with plans that are good, albeit simple, and implements them effectively. But them being overtly successful comes down purely to luck, which is hilarious.

The title of the anime drops “Hey, How About Treason” because past the first arc it really doesn’t come up much. Past that point, Wein whines about how things are annoying and how he doesn’t want to deal with them, but it’s basically just stress relief. The show makes clear that he works very hard for his nation, constantly pulling all-nighters and such, to the point it harms his health. Now at this point he ends up dealing with much more complicated problems. The first arc had a pretty heavy focus on military tactics, but afterwards the main focus of each arc was primarily politics and diplomacy. There’s a lot of careful wording, mind games, and bluffing. Military action was still a part of things, but in a much more overarching way rather in the nitty gritty tactics and such. Other things like religion and economics also similarly played a part.

The plots of these arcs were also pretty good to a degree. They’re certainly very interesting because Wein is a master bullshitter. He comes with all sorts of wild plans with all sorts of crazy aspects to them. Instead of solid but simple plans that work better than they should due to luck, Wein comes up with crazy plans that seem incredibly unlikely to be successful. That they manage to actually work is amazing and really amusing. A lot of the time they have some really stupid parts to them, but other than that they’re reasonably intelligent so they’re pretty satisfying to watch unfold. I will say that the writing is often straddling a very fine line between lunacy that can be overlooked and lunacy so extreme it just makes everything look nonsensical. And at times it crosses over into the overtly nonsensical side, which makes it hard to take seriously. Unfortunately, the final arc fell pretty heavily into the nonsensical side with the last episode being full of things that are hard to suspend your disbelief enough to take seriously, which ends up giving the season a pretty weak final impression.

A major side effect of dropping the ‘treason’ aspect of the show, is that it results in Wein becoming a pretty boring character. Now he puts on quite a lot of airs, but that’s all it. Just a facade. And beneath that all he seems to be is a pretty competent but somewhat generic leader of a nation. It isn’t really clear what’s driving him or who he really is at all beyond that. The only times we see him genuinely emotional are when they involve racism against his beloved aid, Ninym. These are the moments when he’s most interesting, but not enough to make him interesting overall. The final arc brings this topic up itself, wherein it has another royal question what his ‘beast’ is, what inner desires he has that keep him going. And apparently he does have quite the interesting answer to that question, but the viewer is left in the dark. This does achieve the desired effect of making me curious enough to be more interested in Wein to the point I want to know more of his story. But it doesn’t yet make him any better of a character. Thankfully he’s a pretty funny guy so he’s still likable, but I can’t help but find him somewhat disappointing.

The rest of the cast also wasn’t very well developed. Ninym seems to suffer from the same issues as Wein in that she’s basically just helping Wein and doesn’t really seem to have much more to her. She can be really cool and how well she works with Wein is pretty awesome, but there isn’t much depth to her character. Lowa, Zeno, and Falanya all have more complicated circumstances and motivations and even get some character growth. However, it wasn’t all that well written for any of them and didn’t really leave all that strong of an impression. They’re all still pretty likable due to how they fit into the story and play into the comedy, but they don’t seem like all that interesting in and of themselves. Beyond that, characters are incredibly flat and one note, with the antagonist especially being cartoon villains for the most part.

The art and animation were pretty solid. The character designs were pretty good, but I don’t think the anime really used them all that well for the most part. The OP and ED were decent enough in terms of the song and visuals. The soundtrack was also decent but not particularly memorable.

Recommendation
It's not a masterpiece, but the visuals, audio and plot are appealing. It's completely vanilla, which probably makes it suitable for more people. If you don't know what to watch, why not this?

Story
The story is a bit strange: He's supposed to donate sperm, but you don't have ... to sleep with the women to do that, especially if the women just want to get pregnant without sleeping with a total stranger. If you don't want the semen to get on your face or hand, put on gloves and keep your head out of the way or use a condom. You are not forced by anyone.
There's also somehow a lack of explanation as to what exactly the research facility does... Something with genes, but why do you have to do all the other stuff for that?
But honestly, you can just ignore the whole thing. It doesn't really bother me.

Visuals
The art style is nice. Looks a bit like something PoRo would do, but with more shine to the hair and skin.
The animations are also fluid, but in some scenes it's just a freeze frame and you can just hear the characters' thoughts. The pauses are a bit strange. In addition, the drawings are not exactly accurate in detail. The people have individual characteristics that differentiate them, e.g. a mole, but their body shape (big breasts, big butt, ...) is kinda the same.
Unfortunately, due to the lack of detail, a lot of the eroticism is lost, e.g. if you simply can't see how the person is feeling because the facial expressions are simply dead. In addition, sexual arousal is more likely to be shown through red cheeks and vibration, for example in the face.
The liquid concoction is in green ramen (a bit a lot of semen, but it's not extremely much either).
But you can definitely watch it. As a comparison, Pink Pineapple does not have less smothe animations compared to this work and has even fewer details.

Characters
You don't see much personality. The female characters say minimal things from which you can see a hint of personality (except for the researcher, she chatters a bit more and her personality is empty and she just seems to want to do her job). The dude is quite nice. The standard hentai mc. In the end he somehow gets pseudo-sm fantasies (expressed in his thoughts) in which he shows minimal dominance (which didn't fit at all in my opinion), but otherwise he is rather reserved.

Audio
The voice acting is ok. The two women at the beginning and end hardly say anything and you mainly hear their breathing/moaning, which is appropriate. The woman in the middle talks more, but as I said, her personality is somehow empty and that's what she sounds like. The dude talks more and does the best job of all. The sound effects are good and the music does its job. So it doesn't really stand out here.

Eroticism
It is definitely appealing and watchable for many thanks to the vanilla. The "plot" is boring and the eroticism is lost due to the lack of expression in the animations and story. In addition, you don't like any of the characters or feel connected to them because we hardly get to know them at all, which would definitely be a problem for story lovers.

The second season of Tomozaki-kun is very different from the first. while in the first season we find ourselves observing the clear change of the protagonist from a true otaku closed to the world to a person inserted into the social context in which he finds himself.

A pretty interesting otome yuri isekai anime that had a really good delivery as a romantic comedy, but it slowly becomes mid the more it went....

It's like there is potential, they show the flags, you're waiting for it to happen and go deeper into the story... but it's not happening, at least not in this season... they do have quite a few filler scenes that do in the end help deepen the relation, but it could have been way better imo... especially because these kind of animes don't really have high chance of season 2... pretty generic story overall... Hey, at least from what ... I understood and seen on wiki, the light novel is finished, even tho on mal it says it's ongoing. It has only 5 volumes and the anime adapts like 1 and a half from what I read, I might read it when I got time and finish whatever I'm reading rn, and also forget a bit more about this anime so I can enjoy the experience better.

The story is pretty basic, the saving grace is the FMC that is a jokester and says instantly what she wants. That's one of the main, if not the main point of comedy in this anime. A love between a commoner and a noble... well, too bad that the world it happens in is one where the nobles see commoners as thrash or worse, even tho the church they follow and/or laws do say that everyone is equal... They are kids tho in an academy for both classes, so that's the setting. Pretty funny to see the FMC trying to go against the normal route of "FMC getting courted by all the princes" and trying to go for her interests of the villainess, especially cuz of her boldness in doing stuff.

One more + in my view is that the FMC ain't overpowered, she's just better than your average Joe, but there are stronger ppl in the show. Tho... the magic system ain't something comples or anything... average otome level basically.

The characters, besides like the 2 FMC, are pretty shadowed imo, they barely get any exposure and/or depth. Easily readable and nothing of substance to them other than their typical behaviour that alligns with their character type, which you can easily guess if you've watched your fare share of anime. The 2 FMC at least do get some character growth...

One more plus imo is that it does tackle a bit the ideas behind yuri and stuff, and it's not something that everyone just takes it as it is and goes with it. They do discuss it, which is something I haven't really seen in such an anime... Not that I've seen that many of this type anyway.

Story: 7 -- too shallow, should have went a bit more deeper and not bet on season 2 to take the rest... pretty generic overall

Art: 8 -- not the best art there is... but at least I haven't seen CGI

Music: 8 -- the OP is pretty cool ngl, the ED is meh... but iirc they do switch the voices of who sings the ED between the 2 FMC and sometimes even together... pretty cool idea that I've seen in a few animes

Characters: 7 - pretty cool FMC, the other FMC is a tsundere, the rest of the cast? shallow, no depth or time given. At least the 2 FMC do have some character growth

Enjoyment: 7 -- felt a bit of a drag sometimes, especially with the filler like scenes, especially cuz I was waiting for something more serious to happen... but I still had fun overall

I would recommend to read the light novel if you want the full story as it is finished, cuz I am not so sure this will get a season 2, as it usually happens with these kind of animes. The LN has 5 volumes and the anime adapts like one 1 and a half of the next one, or so I read.
The anime has a few problems, that makes it be just another anime to watch for fun and pass time in my view as a romantic comedy... kinda set the stage for season 2 instead of doing something in this season.

I could literally rant all day about how terrible and pathetic SAO is, and I still wouldn't be satisfied by the end of it. There are just so many things about it that's garbage and infuriating, it's hard to choose.
I feel like SAO is such a joke. There are some people that genuinely like it for some godforsaken reason, but as for me, there are so many flaws with it that I don't get how you can watch it unironically and not feel like it's a comedy.

I think Asuna is one of the most bland waifu bait I've ever seen in any media ever. She ... has no consistency at all and she act like the generic housewife toward Kirito, like she's good for nothing else.
She's a textbook example of how NOT to write female characters.

Not only does she have no personality outside of being the love interest, but all her development, motivation and depth are tied to Kirito. I swear, she feels like she can't even exist independently without him being around, it's like she has no autonomy or character outside of her relationship with him.

It's so frustrating to watch. It feels like the whole show revolves around Kirito and how every girl adores him and thinks he's so amazing and incredible. They basically worship the ground he walks on, it's annoying as hell.
Also the show just refuses to give the other girls any development or depth to them. They're all just there as love interests for Kirito and nothing else.

It's such a lazy and misogynistic way to write female characters, I have no idea why anyone would defend it.
The action scenes feel half-assed, the story is convoluted, the writing is garbage, the characters are shallow and pathetic, and there is literally nothing that the show does well or executes properly.

Kirito has no personality as well. He's the epitome of an overpowered Mary Sue type character.
He's perfect at everything he does, always saves the day, never loses at anything and has no flaws or weaknesses. It's like he's a god amongst men and no one is stronger than him.
He's also an absolute Gary Stu, who is so smart and so good at everything that it feels unrealistic. It's like the author is trying to make him seem so cool and amazing, but it just comes off as super annoying and pretentious.

The second half of the story had so many plot holes and inconsistencies, the characters make stupid decisions and the whole story just feels bloated and convoluted.

Animation-wise, it's decent but nothing special. It's not bad, but it's not great either.

The music is generic and forgettable, and it doesn't really do anything to help the story or characters. It's just there as background noise.

And the action scenes suck. There's no suspense or tension in them. They just feel like a bunch of flashy lights and effects without any substance behind them.

In short, you're in luck, as this season is shaping up to be the best season so far. The jokes are on point and the new characters are very endearing. The 5th episode, which I just finished, is particularly hilarious.

If the overused Amnesia trope wasn't already a big red warning tape to run and never look back, the anime has the ridiculous notion that making one of the main characters proclaim "nipple hair!" every freaking episode is how humour works. How many times have I rewatched this show? I don't know, but I do know that Adachi Mitsuru makes peak fiction. I am pretty sure this is the first Adachi Mitsuru show I watched.

I've literally watched every single Adachi Mitsuru anime adaption, and have read a few of the manga that didn't have an anime adaption, especially the Manga 'Katsu', which is literally one of his best works Imo. Basically every character(s) look the same and its all either consists of the same genres or themes of; baseball, boxing, romance, self development, highschool, and most of the time a childhood friend aspect. It did seem ... like he tried pursuing water such as his swimming manga Rough, a manga called Jinbe, and always has beach/pool episodes, but probs gave up on the idea. Music is always fire with Adachi Mitsuru's work, its like they know they gotta cook fr. After rewatching and reading many of Adachi Mitsuru's works, I started to notice how he actually portrays characters in a realistic manner when it comes to expression.

An example of this includes the fact that Tatsuya literally feels burdened always being compared to other people *Tatsuya*. Kazuya is always being compared, and in comparison he is seemed as worthless individual with nothing to him. He is someone that gives up because he'd rather let the best for others, rather than for himself. Because he is burdened, he does not have any pride in himself, he has no faith in himself at the start of the show. He even states that he does worse and doesn't like it when people try and rely on him.

When Kazuya died, everyone put on a facade to seem happy, for example, when Kazuya died, Tatsuya tried pretending he was happy by pranking others and doing things to look like he did not care, when people would start talking about Kazuya's death, Tatsuya would try switching topics and clown on them to get them angry. Even though the Uesugi parents seem goofy asf, they really ain't that goofy. When Kazuya died, they even tried pranking Tatsuya to jumpscare him to put liveliness in the house, and one particular scene caught my attention. The father said that there was no point in being cheerful because it was just him and the wife at home. It's all a facade to seem cheerful and lively at home!!! Even though everyone dissed Tatsuya at the start of the show, Tatsuya's father literally threw a glass of water at someone for calling Tatsuya useless, even though he calls him useless himself. There are many more instances of realistic portrayals, unlike other anime that are so cliche, and I def recommend watching it as you would probably see more of it.

I haven't actually realized the portrayal of how Adachi Mitsuru uses realistic emotions until like idk my 6th rewatch of this series. Def a show that brings you in, its such a subtle, yet a realistic anime. An anime like this I would recommend is Cross Game, episode 1 also strongly portrays emotions of a child of not actually knowing what just happened, until you do. Really good anime, goes straight to the point. The 3rd rewatch of this show definitely feels at its best.

Sheep's Song is an atmospheric yet low-budget snorefest, heavy with melodramatic dialogue, and the lamest vampires ever front-and-center. I can see what they were going for with this title, but needless to say it didn't really come together all that well. Beginning with the story, its setup is basically fine. Mysterious vampire disease, mysteries surrounding the protagonist's father, estranged sister with the same condition, on and on. However, as the story itself unfolds, and the mysteries are unraveled, it doesn't really get good at any point. It remains decidedly boring, with endless dialogue and hardly any reason to care about what's happening. The vampirism is ... essentially just this weird anemia, with no benefits or interesting conditions whatsoever, which is a big letdown since they're whinging about it basically the whole time. It's genetic through their father's line, but their mom had it too, and it can be controlled through painkillers, but it's bad for your heart, and there needs to be an emotional connection to feed? It's extremely convoluted and isn't used to any real narrative effect besides to explore the show's bizarre incestuous themes. I must reiterate here that the story is exhaustingly dull, the only reason I even bothered to finish it at all is because it's only 4 episodes. It didn't have to be this way either, as the atmosphere distantly approached something kind of interesting, but it's almost like it didn't even try to capitalize on it. This brings me to the art, which is the best part of this anime, despite how terrible it often is. The art direction itself is fairly solid, with unique character designs that utilize heavy linework and light goth aesthetics to achieve an atmosphere which is forlorn and emotional. However, there is heavy and noticeable reuse of shots throughout, shoddy animation with frequent instances where animation isn't even attempted, and a limited number of establishing background pieces that make it feel as though you're watching a stage play instead of an anime. The execution of the art took what little this anime had going for it in the first place and just kind of dropped the ball. The sound is broadly unremarkable, with voice work and sounds of life that meet the basic standards of quality for the time, and the same goes for the characters. Of the cast, they're all pretty one-dimensional, and it's not really worth choosing favorites from among them. If I had to, though, it'd be Yaegashi, Kazuna's non-relative love interest, for being a relatively sane person caught up in this stale mess of a story. Overall, Sheep's Song wants to be deep, emotional, and darkly aesthetic, but falls short on all accounts, instead languishing as a boring, convoluted, and melodramatic waste of time. Anime is full of grand adventures, epic tales and profound stories. It has the ability to take you to a completely different world. Yet, sometimes I just can’t be bothered with that. Sometimes all I want is to turn my brain off and laugh at some goofy people goofing off and being stupid. Seitokai no Ichizon is the perfect anime to lay back, relax and chill out to—it’s cosy, silly and light-hearted, and, honestly, I just can’t get enough of it.

In the very first scene of the first episode, “Understanding the differences in media” is written on the whiteboard. The characters joke about how they ... can make the anime more appealing than the light novel, with some self-deprecating jokes along with it. Out of curiosity, I decided to actually investigate the differences in media by reading the first volume of the light novel. While the light novel definitely has its appeal—one that’s slightly different from the anime—I think the anime’s funnier. The ‘difference in media’ I observed was the sheer power of visual comedy, voice acting and comedic timing. The anime breathes life into the interactions by adding so much energy and liveliness that’s only really possible in an audiovisual medium. On top of that, I noticed how the plot was shifted around a bit. Rather than adapting the story one-to-one, they took bits and pieces and mixed them with others, with different contexts, to make it flow a little better. So, I have to say, the anime and light novel did help me understand the differences in media. Thanks for bringing it up, President!

One of the big reasons I decided to watch this was that it’s a 2000s anime. I realised that I hadn’t watched many older anime and wanted to broaden my horizons by branching in that direction. Now, it’s very clear from the art-style that it’s an older anime, but I don’t mean that in a bad way. Older anime have a certain appeal to them that’s hard to describe. Although I’d say animation quality has improved over the years—especially in action scenes—I might prefer the character designs and style of 2000s anime. For the record, that’s not nostalgia speaking. I was a little poopy baby boy when the anime came out so I can’t say “those were the good ol’ days”. Well, peeing all around the house probably was the good old days, but that’s not the point. Despite not having experienced anime in the 2000s, there’s a particular charm to them, similar to that of a childhood summer. With the art-style and general ‘vibes’, the anime radiates that feeling and makes it so incredibly endearing.

The anime revolves around the main character, Sugisaki, and four other girls that he wants in his harem. Every episode consists of them sitting in the student council room talking, chatting, goofing off, wasting time, erm… that’s about it…? It’s as close to a sit-com you’ll get in anime (I think? I’ve never actually watched a sit-com). Slice of Life is one of my favourite genres, so I love this kind of dynamic, but I’d imagine a lot of people would be put off by this. Moreover, there really isn’t much conflict at all. Stories normally centre around conflict, so without it you’d think it would just be boring. But, slice of life seems to be the exception, for some reason. This anime is stress-free and never takes itself seriously, which is nice every now and then.

One of the funniest things about it is how self-conscious it is. It might even be the most self-conscious anime I’ve ever watched. I mean, even in the very first scene that I mentioned before, one of the characters read a review that says ‘the story’s the same and nothing goes on’, taking a dig at itself. Not only that but it’s pretty much a parody of harems. It realises how silly the idea of a harem is, so it doesn’t take it seriously at all. It’s so goofy and ridiculous that it sometimes feels like a parody of anime itself. It knows exactly what it is and doesn’t try to be anything it isn’t. Something I noticed around half-way through was that they change the lyrics to the ending each time. And each time, it’s complete gibberish. Utterly random and super silly. In episode 11, the ending is the President mouthing off about how great she is and how you must vote for her for the whole ending. Sometimes the ending has the voice actors laughing at themselves, forgetting the lyrics or singing out of sync, and they kept all of that in. Now, I don’t know about you, but I think the voice actors had a lot of fun with this anime.

Something that stands out is the references. I know Gintama is supposed to have a bunch, but I haven’t seen it yet, so this anime probably has the most I’ve seen in an anime. It mentions Naruto, Gurren Lagann (even kind of spoils it), Haruhi, Index, Fullmetal Alchemist and even freaking Metal Gear Solid. I can’t remember if it was in the anime or light novel, but one of the lines is, “Don’t speak until Hunter x Hunter is finished!”. If Sugisaki took a vow of silence and became a monk to obey that, he still wouldn’t be able to speak (please finish HxH, Togashi, I’m begging). Also, they reference the light novel’s publishing company a bunch. They go so off the rails with the references that they often have to censor themselves to avoid copyright, which, in itself, is pretty funny.
What’s more, the anime breaks the 4th wall more than any anime I’ve seen too. The first scene I described is one example of that. But throughout they constantly say how Mafuyu’s characterization is being ruined by her BL love, or how Minatsu being good at math doesn’t fit her character, or how having a meeting about what to do with student absences is too basic and wouldn’t be fun for the viewers to watch. It takes all the rules about immersion and throws them out the window for the hell of it.

Now, in terms of the actual comedy, it is hilarious. The skits and gags are utterly absurd and it never takes itself seriously. It’s fast-paced with ridiculous situations, great one-liners and goofy slapstick. It’s not necessarily adult comedy, but definitely not pee poo childish humour either. The lack of emphasis on immersion and realism allows them to do the most nonsensical and stupid things. The bread and butter of the comedy is the straight man, funny man act, where one character will say something stupid and the other will retort, addressing how little sense it made. But the characters aren’t type casted into either role—it usually changes to fit the situation. Anime usually has a ‘comfy’ type of comedy as opposed to other media, for me at least. Though Seitokai no Ichizon made me laugh out loud time and time again.

The characters themselves are quirky and hilarious. Each with their own unique qualities and flaws, such that you can simply put them in a room together and it’ll be hilarious no matter what they do. Despite lightly fitting into certain character archetypes, they each have plenty of aspects that distinguish themselves from that and make them lovable by their own merit. The anime drops us in with them already being friends, so they’re close to each other from the beginning. This lends to the comedy involving each character teasing or making fun of the others a lot of the time, which is possible because of how quirky and goofy they inherently are. It reminds me of a bunch of teenagers messing around and mouthing off to each other, which is what they actually are. But it really does capture that youthful dynamic of being so rude and horrible to each other, in a loving way. They can only do that because of how close they are.

Despite how much they tease and poke fun at each other, the anime makes it clear how much they genuinely value their friendship. They truly cherish the time they have together and the safe space they’ve created in the student council. And whenever necessary, they stand up for each other and have each other’s backs. As cheesy as it is, that’s a true friendship being portrayed.
Comedy is such a powerful tool, especially with how it can contrast seriousness. Don’t get me wrong, it’s mostly jokes—the author even said it’s “90% jokes and less than 10% serious”—but there are a few moments where it strips back the goofiness and has some thought-provoking scenes. There’s a scene where they’re in Tokyo and watch the sunset silently together, and somehow it’s really beautiful. A few scenes like that are scattered here and there, and although they’re not what stands out in the show, they’re rather impactful because of how rare they are.

It’s hard to really criticise a show that doesn’t take itself too seriously. I would’ve said that the interaction between the girls was lacking, but then there was an episode when Sugisaki got sick and it was just them, and they held out together great without him. I suppose it could be lacking some climactic and memorable moments, but I’m not too hung up on that.
Overall, it’s so lovable, silly, hilarious and has some great moments shining through. I’m looking forward to season 2 of this, which is hopefully just as good. 9/10.

After watching the film, I'd recommend it! I've decided to watch the Ghibli movies since I hear so much about them, so I thought I'd start with the first one. It is a nice story with fun characters and a great soundtrack! I'm not sure if it was the music in combination with the story or what, but I did feel pretty emotional and choked up a couple times.

I was a bit worried I wasn't going to enjoy the movie at first because the beginning felt a bit slow and didn't hook me in too much, but soon enough I was having a fun time ...

Coming into Akira blind, beside the title, poster art and knowing it's age, you might be interested to see a semi-futuristic biker gang beating the crap out of one another and maybe solving a slightly larger plot along the way. Probably not expecting much from animation quality.

Animation quality, however, is the single point that Akira blew out of the water. The visuals are fantastic even from a modern perspective, though the art style in particular may not be what a new fan is used to.

The story, on the other hand, felt like a slow burn that suddenly hit a gas tank and just exploded everywhere. ...

Its as meh as meh can be. I have forgotten what its about and all its characters almost as soon as I finished watching it.

The premise was very appealing to me, since it's isekai and also since I had played healers in MMOs many a times. And it was quite funny and entertaining in the first couple of episodes. And then it got boring. And blah, and just eye-roll inducing. The characters were all so one-dimensional that they started to bleed into one another, the storyline felt like they just did not know what to do with it once they actually got people to start ...

Dekisokonai is isekai.

It is the genre reduced down to its most basic parts, it is the generic. There is almost nothing more to say about it. If you need the anime equivalent of fast food this is it. Everything about it is pretty much in the just hovering in the passing grade territory, a big old C- of show.

High points: an almost accidental story about the need to release from grief and revenge by embracing the freedom of "failure" (although in this show failure means being god-tier, it doesn't make sense, it's not supposed to, it's isekai.)

Low points: it doesn't have any, it's flat, ...
