A generic fantasy/adventure story with quite a bit of comedy put in it, following someone that went into adveturing at the old age of 30.
Even though the story is generic, the comedy, which sometimes hits, sometimes it's a bit dry, does make it more enjoyable. The context is a bit absurd, so don't expect normalcy or try of it in the plot, but that's good for me as it knows what it is and how it started and how it should go. The story does touch onto a pretty sensitive subject, even for a young guy like me, that I feel like everyone thought about
...
at least once: is it too late to start something? While in this context we have a pretty happy story, if you can call it so, of a 30 years old MC that finally decided to follow his dream of being an adventurer and finding people that would help him in so, the answer is the story ig. While it did sometimes feel like it goes onto the generic route, it didn't go all the time, which again, suprises like that really make me like a story. Especially towards the end, for such an anime, I did not expect those fights/action scenes. They were very well made and hype! Because it is a comedy, the deep, sad moments didn't really feel too genuine to me, maybe because that's what they went for ig.
The characters are a bit... flat. There are some backgrounds and you understand their dreams and such, for some, others didn't really get that much exposition, even though I was curious about them and how they ended up there. Guess this is for the books or for the next season, if there is one. They do fall in a certain category that you can easily see, and because the anime focuses on comedy quite a lot, it's kinda hard to see much of anything that isn't something you could have guessed. Some interactions were a bit cringe inducing to me, but ig that's part of comedy.
Story: 8 -- There isn't really much of a story, or at least shown much of it, besides some basic stuff for an adventure fantasy plot.
Art: 9 -- Here, I can give it to them. I heard they had a low budget, but the more it went, the better the art/direction got, and they really used quite a few techniques to save money but still deliver what they wanted. They nailed the last few episodes!
Music: 8 -- Okay music. Nothing that made me listen to it later. It fit the anime tho.
Characters: 8 -- Quite a few generic characters, but ig they made them for comedy purposes. A bit too cringy for me tho... And the rest are mostly flat, one dimension, with only barely a few getting a bit more insight into them.
Enjoyment: 9 -- The more it went, the more my enjoyment went up while watching it, and the last like 3 episodes it was really peak stuff, which I did not expect, but was a welcomed surprise!
Overall: 9 (I rounded it up :) )

Highly recommend this story to those that want to watch something that is a happy story, an adventure that has absurd elements to it, with quite a lot of comedy in it, to chill to something and also to see something pretty hype towards the end.

A slow falling in love story of a magical girl and an evil lieutenant, just like the title says, and it's done in a really good way.
Unfortunetaly, the author, Fujiwara Cocoa, passed away in 2015, at a young age of 31, and such the source material barely had 3 volumes worth of story to go off on, having to add new things to it as even the last "volume" was a really short one lacking enough chapters. But this, for me at least, adds a whole new nuance over the anime, as it was made after 9 years, like a tribute to the author. Even
...
though the episodes were short and left you wanting way more, they were beautiful, both in art, music, vibe and presentation of the jokes/story. You can see and feel the love that was put in this anime, and the potential it had if the source material would have continued.
It is a short anime, so just go watch it like it is a movie of around 2 hours. It is a lovely story with a diverse cast of characters you wouldn't really expect in such a story, and the jokes they were making.... really caught me off guard quite a few times. They're adult jokes.
The only small problem, and this might/is more of a cultural difference, were the ages of the characters, that stuff put a bit of a bad taste in my mouth... but it is Japan, which just recently in 2023 raised the age of consent from 13 to 16, so yea, I can only see it as a difference in culture ig.
Story: 9 -- For what it was, it is a lovely story with really nice presentation. Nothing too deep, but it still is an unfinished story, so a lot of things are left open, albeit they aren't that important as this feel like a slice of life mostly.
Art: 10 -- The art is amazing! Really love this kind of art!
Music: 9 -- Fits really well with everything!
Characters: 10 -- Here the characters are diverse and some really caught me by suprise, maybe because I never really watched magical girls themed animes, but this anime is made for adults imho...
Enjoyment: 10 -- Had a grin troughout the whole watching of it

This review was a bit exaggerated in marks, but this is because I feel like this is an anime I will most likely rewatch, as it is a short and very sweet one that made me smile and laugh quite a bit. It is not perfect by any means, not a 10, but given its context and how and for what it was made, I feel like it deserves a 10.
Highly recommend this anime to anyone that wants to watch something light hearted, that will make you smile troughout all of 2 hours of watching the anime, laugh at jokes that are adult oriented, and all together want to see the last unfinished piece of an author's life and the love that was put in this tribute. Just go watch already, it's a short one! I bet you won't regret it!

A movie that tells the story of a 2 teenagers and their interactions with a tunnel that gives you something in exchange for your lifespan.
I might be an outliner, but I cannot say I liked it a lot. Felt very fast paced, some things didn't make much sense, the interactions felt a lot of times very... robotic? Scripted? Not enough time for me to get attached to anyone much, the climax and the main point of the story felt rushed as hell and we were left wondering about certain things... at least if they extended it a bit more and said more about what comes
...
after the story of this movie, I would have liked it a bit more, but alas, they didn't do that. And if that wasn't enough, I find from comments that they've changed stuff in the movie compared to the light novel (which is the source material), things that created plot holes. Some said that they even omitted the main point of the light novel. Lowkey sad. Feels a bit like a shallow copy of "Kimi no na wa"/"Your name"...
At the beginning it felt like a really interesting story, with characters that seemed to have personality, a situation/event/concept that looked like they're gonna bond over and we're gonna be taken alongside. It felt really unique at the beginning... but then... it kinda went on, and fast... and didn't really show much that would let you really get attached to the characters anymore... When I felt like finally I can see some bonding, they change the pace to make it fast or go to the next big event asap, like telling you to imagine what happened... All I feel like is that there wasn't enough time and the end should have been more... flashed out. Like this, it barely made an impact on me... I lowkey also compared it to "Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai" cuz of the characters and how they looked a bit, but that anime I feel like did more in the first 3 episodes and it left me with a bigger impact than this movie.
Story: 7 -- Rushed, quite a few plotholes.
Art: 10 -- The art tho, was amazing! Really good art! Loved the backgrounds a lot.
Music: 8 -- Felt okayish.
Characters: 8 -- Good characters that had potential, but I feel like I needed more time to actually get to know them more and see how they interact and such...
Enjoyment: 7 -- I was left with a "meh"/"okay" aftertaste...
Overall: 7

I would recommend this anime to people that want something akin to "Your name", but not on the same level of story telling. The art can be compared to, as it is top tier imo. It will give you some things to think about, and it has a really interesting concept, but too fast paced. It's an average to low watch imo.

In my opinion, this is a hidden gem. Would never hear about it if it wasn't for the Awards Winning anime category on this website, and oh boy, was this a journey I was caught without notice.
It is a story that was inspired by multiple simulations of what would happen if an earthquake of magnitude 8.0 would hit Tokyo, as I guess you already understood by the title, and it follows a sister from 7th grade, her little brother from 3rd grade and an initially stranger that also has a daugher (but not with her) trying to go back to their homes which are in
...
the same area.
I will start with talking about the characters, as this is what I feel like the anime is big on, besides the tragedy. This story has a LOT of deep things regarding the problems a middle school age kid would have, and even if the girl can be seen as annonying little brat, I personally understood her quite a lot in what she was feeling, and her progress troughout the story felt very real to me. When life really sucks and everything seems to be going against you, at that age, it is very hard not to become like her or share in her vision quite a bit. Her little brother, even if he s younger, seems a lot more mature, with a more optimistic view on life, even though it is childish in quite a lot of situations. The older woman, Mari, which takes the role of a protector for the 2 of them and tries to get them back home from quite a distance, is a rolemodel of a mother as well, knowing exactly how to handle little kids like them and being the kind of understading person the world needs a lot of. These 3 make for quite a trio to watch interact and try to help each other and arrive home safely.
The story is pretty powerful and makes you really think about all the disasters that go in this world and how much it affects people living in those areas. Even if you think you might be able to imagine how it would be, it was still a new experience for me, where I could see different people in different scenarios and how much impact such an event can truly have on a personal level. Maybe deaths becoming a statistic so much truly dehumanizes quite a lot of people...
The setting imo is really well done, as in the walking back home and seeing different areas that each knew before and how much the tragedy has changed them, and the character's multiple views from different ages is making the story feels genuine and teaching you multiple fronts that the people are affected on.
One thing I felt a bit off, were the interactions... Sometimes they felt too... scripted. For me at least. Some action as well. But I can live with that, the messages and overall feelings the story would present were strong enough that I could easily overlook those moments.
Story: 9 -- A story that teaches you about a disaster and its impacts on life, as seen from the character's viewpoints.
Art: 8 -- The art is kinda low quality when it comes to characters. The backgrounds are pretty good though
Music: 9 -- Pretty good soundtrack, can't say there was something very special that I would like to listen outside of the anime, but it fit very nicely in this story.
Characters: 9 -- Some might find a problem with a certain MC, but I didn't, and I really think it adds a new level to the story having that character behaving how it had, especially as the story goes further.
Enjoyment: 10 -- Episodes felt really, really short, even if they were like 22 mins long, they just flew by. Really enjoyed this anime!

Highly recommend this anime to people that want to learn more about what a tragedy like this could mean for the people in the area affected from multiple age perspectives. Also, it will show you that whatever happens in family, as long as it isn't something extreme, family is family, and you should really love it. It isn't a full of happyness story, so be prepared. Really, be prepared.

A movie that tells the story of a powerful mother trying to raise her 2 kids alone, which are half human half werewolf, and the numerous (hard) decisions that she needs to make to fullfill her wish of raising them both the best she can, as she doesn't know much about half werewolf kids and their needs.
This anime was quite a bag of emotions, from really tragic ones, to really happy, to really peaceful. Truly showing the adventure of the mother and her journey to raise her kids alone, and the kids journey to find their own paths in life and have the ability to
...
choose exactly what they want, which the mother really tries to give that to them, while also experiencing the unknown of motherhood alone (for a very well explained reason). The love of the mother is felt troughout this whole movie, something I wish every kids feels in their lifes when they grow up. It is the kind of movie that is both for kids and for adults, the kind of movie that are masterpiece level to me, those type of movies that we remember from the "old days" and hardly find these days anymore... Each demographic has something to take from this movie, more or less.
It is a single movie, so I will not enter too many details, as I feel like this movie is best experienced without knowing too much and having too many expectations. But there is a reason why it earned so many awards... And I personally can see why, even if I have some questions of my own, but I feel like those questions are some things that the story wants you to ask yourself as well of, or at least I believe so. As I've said, depending on the life experience you've had, I think you might see differently this anime (not to the point you're watching completly different stories tho).
Story: 9 -- A story that felt perfect for all ages.
Art: 9 -- Good art style for what it was.
Music: 9 -- The songs really put scenes in way better light. It has quite a few moments where the sounding is used very perfectly.
Characters: 10 -- Loved all of them!
Enjoyment: 10 -- It's a story that made me questions certain aspect of life, especially given that I am just at the start of my adult life, and seeing it made me think more about my mother as well. It resonated with me on quite a few different levels, which I didn't expect. So yes, for me, this felt at a personal level as well. Loved it because of that (and more).

I highly recommend this anime to anyone wanting to see a journey for both parent and kids, in which each questions the other and can put a bit more towards the perspective of the other. Might reach some conclusions to certain problem, or create new ones, but it surely might put some questions in your head, or you can just watch for the interesting story and concept that it has and how it handles it. All I know, is that you won't be dissapointed.

Hidden gem of an anime. A reverse isekai slice of life of a princess that lives with a good natured man and another slice of life of her attendant trying to find her place in that world, both being top tier stories in their own right.
Wholesome anime overall. Really made me feel the episodes go by too fast. We have a variety of cast of characters that influence each other's actions, and even though some of them might not have had too much screen time to differentiate themselfes more from the stereotype they represent, it is still a good salad bowl of eccentrics that you
...
are almost never sure where they'll go next in terms of plot.
The story is interesting, especially because you have like 2 plots following. First is the new found family of the princess and the good guy that is a detective. While he is a detective, the anime isn't focusing only/that much on that, it also focuses on them bonding as like a father daughter relation and on how the princess adapts to the new life she is in, for which she's doing a damn good job. Wholesome stuff all together. Really refreshing and good vibes. The other plot line is the attendant that followed her and her trying to find a place in the world she's in and the numerous stuff she encounters and gets herself into because she is naive and all. Both plots could have been made into an anime of their own tbh. But I fully enjoyed this mix.
Story: 9 -- Wholesome, random story from time to time, but it works out because of the different characters and how they complement each other. Maybe sometimes it kinda goes a bit too fast...
Art: 9 -- Really like the art and direction, perfect for this kind of anime.
Music: 9 -- Loved both the OP and the ED. Songs that I will listen to from now on.
Characters: 9 -- Truly a salad bowl of eccentrics.
Enjoyment: 10 -- Time flew by. Would sometimes get surprised by the ending cuz I thought there was still some more time... so yea, sign of a good anime.

Highly recommend this anime to people that want to watch some father daughter bonding and a girl getting herself into different types of weird situations. Watch if you want something chill, kinda unique in terms of direction, wholesome stuff overall which will make you smile. Hidden gem of an anime, I'm telling ya. From the looks of it, there surely should be a second season coming.

4 girls finding each other and helping each other get over the each individual's struggles with life by having a common goal and being together.
While this sounds like the power of friendship, that's because this is the power of friendship (quite a bit).
The story in short is about an ex-idol that wants to sing again, an artist that lost her love for art, a huge fan of that said ex-idol that was very influenced in a positive manner by that idol when she was active and a reclusive that is a vtuber. The story isn't hard to grasp, they each meet trough certain circumstances
...
(perfect circumstances sometimes), and they set the goal of becoming a band and work together towards that. While doing so, they each encounter problems that they had in their pasts and get over them somehow. Saying more kinda dwells in the realm of spoilers. It is portraited in a pretty goodish manner, some scenes really make an impact, especially because of the art and VAs.
The story progression is really good at the beginning, but towards the end it starts to pick up. A bit too much. While they still did it okay, they just did it okay instead of doing it really good. It feels like it is a show that could have touched on a lot of subjects pretty deeply, that had a pretty diverse cast of characters, but in the end, it didn't do as much as I expected. They showed that they could animate and make episodes that felt really good, but at the end I guess they realised that they HAD to finish in 12 episodes, which was very fast, so they threw quite a lot of stuff in there and hoped that you could just accept it without many explanations or none at all.
Now for one of the main parts about this anime: music. The music is pretty good, there are quite a few songs in this anime, but I couldn't not compare it with bocchi, which really had quite a lot, and all bangers imo. This anime has fewer, and not all are bangers for me, and even those that are, I wouldn't really put them high on my list. They are cool to listen though. Also, some songs are accompanied by picture/art animations, like you've seen in japanese songs on youtube for example. Pretty cool, especially because they get better and better the more experience the group has.
There were also some really interesting characters that were looking very cool and all, and you expected them to have a huge impact or something, but in the end they didn't. They kinda were tossed on the side after like a few lines or appeareances, that also had small impact, and that's it. I understand that the main point of this anime were the 4 girls, but still... About all those 4 girls, each has a background, some more interesting than others, and the anime tries to protrait a way of how they got over that problem, and a big chunk of it is the power of friends... here, each with their own views I guess.
In the end though, I realised something. This anime is made to feel good overall, to see a happy ending, and that's about it. If you try to think about it and analyze too much, especially in the second half, you're gonna start getting dissapointed, especially because there are a lot of plot holes that you need to try and guess why it is the way it is now, or that are just "trust me bro" and just show the result of what should have been another part of the show.
What really puts this anime in my view though, is the animation and the voice actors. They really shined in quite a few scenes. Made me fall a bit in love with this anime, even though the story kinda annoyed me a bit (I am not a big fan of touching deep subjects with the idea of perfect interactions/moments). It feels special, at least at the beginning.
Story: 7 -- The has ups and downs, but because it feels like they had in mind much more and could have made a 24 eps season, it isn't top notch for me at all...
Art: 9 -- The art is very good and superb in certain moments.
Music: 9 -- Quite a few songs + the art for each of them + the context of them and how they were shown. It shows it is one of the main parts of this anime.
Characters: 7 -- I'm still bothered by the fact that they didn't use certain characters and given us more info about them, especially because this anime is finished and we don't have any hope of future episodes...
Enjoyment: 8 -- Overall, it was a nice watch.

A love story between a lonely sorcerer that is quite powerful and an elf slave that he buys.
This review is a bit shorter, as I am not really in the mood of writing much, but if I don't do it now, ik I'll never will. :)
In short, it is an anime with a basic premise, basic plot that can be guessed from quite a mile away and characters that are pretty typical to such stories. BUT it has its charm. I don't mind reused stuff or generic things, as long as there is enjoyable for the most part, and this anime is.
The plot is
...
simple, sorcerers are usually quite alone in that world or with a few friends, as they are hunted down by the church, some for good motives. But alas, they are still pretty common. We don't really get much of worldbuilding, which is a bit of a shame. We have our MC which has like one friend that visits him, sees the elf at an auction and buys her. He gets her to his castle, where there is no one else, and the story of them both falling in love begins. During the story, more characters will enter the happy family life these 2 are having between each other. The MC is put trough a few challanges in his new found lifystyle, especially because he doesn't know anything about treating someone that he is in love with. Funny moments arrise from the interactions between characters, which are portraited in a good way, and this gives most of the charm imo. It is a chill, feel good kinda of anime. There are deeper plot points which are shown here, but it's only 12 episodes, don't expect much. The LN right now has like 18 volumes, so yea, there is something of a plot.
Story: 8 -- Basic, but portraited nicely.
Art: 8 -- I enjoyed the art overall, especially at the jokes, which are quite a few. The fights are kinda meh though...
Music: 8 -- Normal anime songs.
Characters: 8 -- Characters are okay overall.

Cute girls doing cute things in a military/war environment, in a world where nobody can actually die. as they get revived, with a bit of gore put in it that was unexpected (at least for me).
This story took me by suprise a bit in the sense that I did not expect it to be so goreish in some episodes. It was a welcomed one tho, as I enjoy such things.
The story is along the lines of a young girl gets put as a general to lead a small army made of criminals into battles, battles which are mostly for entertainment cuz in that world
...
nobody can actually die, they get revived. But she is a lazy bum and wants to be a shut in (for a reason, typical one tho). This leads to a lot of comedic moments. Also she thinks less of herself, when she shouldn't, but I won't say more as it would be a spoiler. Has potential when it comes to the plot, alas it is a pretty underdeveloped plot, as in I feel like it's a bit too basic when it comes to what happens in that world and how it is portraited. From what I read, this covers the first 3 light novels, and the anime has 3 main arcs. These arcs though are unfortunately following the same idea when it comes to the villain (one of the villains) of the arc: my actions are justified because I have a sad/ugly background... also they feel repetitive a bit with not that many things being added to the story overall. Feels like they are arcs of introducing characters, but for a 12 episodes anime, it is a bit too much to spend so much time on this. Of course, as a pretty standard story, you have the evil world organization that wants to destroy the artefacts that make ppl get revived. There were bits and pieces that show that this organization has an interesting view in that world, but again, not worked on. Instead you have mostly the main vilains that follow the basic villain archetype that you see in typical stories.
In term of characters and their interactions, you have a comedy and yuri. MC is the shut in that doesn't want to do much but is dragged into it, the maid which is a simp for her and wants to help her, and the rest of the cast that comes and goes or just stays always in the background to enable the MC to be more fleshed out. Can't say some characters really made an impression on me. There were moments where they seem to try to make an emotional moment, but it wasn't very well put together or just came out of nowhere. Certain moments also feel rushed/unfinished in animation and pacing, which takes a bit from the build up. The MC also has edgy shounen moments, which are sometimes animated pretty nicely.
Story: 7 -- Too basic and typical, the type of story that you guess the whole arc once you caught how the author thinks. Also the world and background is not fleshed out at all.
Art: 8 -- Art is pretty nice overall, but there are moments where it lacks quite a bit, especially the more you go towards the end.
Music: 9 -- The ED is one of my fav songs rn. The type of song to listen on a walk at night. The OP is okayish.
Characters: 7 -- Okayish characters, but nothing to say it was great or nice... can't even say I have a favourite character.
Enjoyment: 7 - The arcs kinda become too repetitive in terms of what to expect, so it became a bit of a drag to finish. The comedy was hit or miss for me.
Overall: 7

I would recommend this anime to people that want to watch a comedy yuri anime with a bit of serious/gore moments from time to time, but that won't expect to be blown away by the overall plot. It is just an average watch from my perspective, and because of that I cannot fully recommend it, as it feels like you won't gain much by watching it.

A love story that actually makes some progress, childhood friend vs new girl, alas, the MC follows a bit the generic anime MC, which makes a lot of moments easily readeable, but not all!
This story is a fun one to watch, cringe at times, but it delivers. Has some unique elements thrown in it that are at the back bone of the story, but it's an anime, just go with it. It might have a bit of a problem at the beginning because it follows for a few episodes the same pattern, feeling like there is not much progress made, but imo it's better this
...
way. You can clearly see the relations being created and deepen. It doesn't feel rushed imo at all. But you still have quite some progress, which it is not that common as these types of anime try to drag on... especially when you have this kind of MC that gets flustered when talking with girls, but he's not 100% that kind of character type at least, which makes this story special. Also, I liked certain aspects that are protraited pretty mature, but that more towards the end. You still have quite a lot of the teenager jokes of staring at bewbs in an excessive manner, that gets repeated to an annoyingly level, at least for me it was, making fun of the MC cuz he is a virgin... idk man, it gets old once you keep hearing it over and over, but I got past these moments in the anime and just didn't give them much thought anymore.
When it comes to characters, you have a few of them. This isn't a harem show, so there's that, thank God... The male MC is an otaku, flustered when talking with girls and stuff, you know, but he still has his moments where he mans up and does the right thing. You can clearly see the more you watch, the more he starts to stop being an extreme wimp. The female MCs are totally different. You have the gyaru, that is pretty much the main female MC, as she gets a lot of screen time and we get to see more of her than the other. She is the aggressive type, and super hyped and optimistic. She grows quite a lot during this anime, and it is portraited really well. The other female MC... well... childhood friend... we all know what that means... kinda feel bad for her, the author/anime kinda works against her at 120%, feels like the whole Universe is against her, which is kinda sad. She's also very poorly portraited imo, like they want to make the viewer not give her a chance at all cuz you just see her in a pretty bad light, especially compared to the other one.
The art tho really goes very well with this type of story. Actually unique art. And the ending... one of my favourite endings. I usually skip the endings and such, but I think i listenend to the ending for like 7 episodes, which almost never happens to me.
Story: 8 -- Has its good moments, but also a few cringe/bad ones. Misunderstandings are too strong sometimes...
Art: 9 -- Very cool art. Loved the vibe.
Music: 9 --The ending is a banger, especially with the animation. The OP on the other hand... meh.
Characters: 8 -- Good characters overall, but the bias for some is strong... especially in this type of story.
Enjoyment: 8 --I had a fun time watching, smiled quite a lot, but couldn't really watch a lot of episodes in one go, either cuz of rl stuff or just couldn't.
Overall: 8

I recommend this show to people that want to watch a romance type of story that makes progress, isn't rushed, has some really sweet moments, is pretty unique imo in its own way and is an easy watch.
