Want an car-focused action anime based off those cheesy old American action films? This is for you! A fun story with well-animated action scenes and a good supporting soundtrack. It was a good time, but issue is it felt "just alright" to me. Was it bad? No. Was it great? No. It was fun, but I could see myself forgetting about the movie in a day or two as there wasn't anything that stood out to me.

Well, there was one thing that stood out to me, but not in a great way. SPOILER ALERT, but I personally felt the final confrontation was a bit out ...

Gunsmith Cats (Anime) add
After asking a friend on Discord who the cute girl in their profile picture was (it was Becky), I decided to watch Gunsmith Cats. In the end, I had a great time with this little story! If you want an anime take on those classic American action shows/films, this is for you! Awesome action, jazzy music, a fun story, and good comedy! The story had me invested and the pacing was great, so I never felt bored and time flew by. If this was a full length series some issues may have popped up and I might of bumped it down to a 9, but ...

I would recommend watching this 3 episode OVA! I went in with no knowledge of the franchise and had a good time! The art was nice, the characters were fun, and the story was short and sweet! It strikes that nice balance of seriousness and comedy that I am always a fan of with anime (such as Hokuto no Ken or Trigun).

I had an overall good time, and have very few negatives to say. The main reason I gave it an Very Good (8) rather than a perfect 10/10 was for two reasons. The first and main reason I docked points was because although ...

A fun slice of life comedy set in a high school! The comedy starts off alright, but it gets better and better as the show goes on! The only reason I dock the show some points is due to Osaka and especially Sakaki feel a bit too one note in the first half of the show. Thankfully Osaka's jokes become a bit more diverse over time and eventually Sakaki changes from a one joke character. There is also Kaorin who is the definition of a one note character, but she plays a very minor role compared to the rest of the crew so I didn't ...

TL;DR: This show was like a bitter-sweet drink for me. This show has some of the best visuals and animation I've seen in anime, however the story (or lack thereof) sadly drags down the show a lot for me. However, I am someone who values the story as the most important part of a show. If you are someone who doesn't value plot as heavily and instead prefers visuals, this is easily a 10/10.

For me, an anime is like a meal. The main course is the anime's story while the sides are things such as animation, music, and so on. Even if the sides are ...

If you want to check out the Hokuto no Ken (HNK) series, I'd recommend starting with the anime first, then checking this out at a later point. The film is basically a retelling of the series from the beginning up until the first battle between Kenshiro and Raoh. The action was amazing (those explosions were gory) and it was fun to see various characters from the series appear in new situations. However, the thing that made me feel really perplexed was the ending.

SPOILERS:
It might just be me, but I find the ending to be very abrupt and strange. Ken and Raoh fight, with Raoh ...

I loved my time with HNK, so of course I had to check HNK2 out! I was a bit concerned at first due to almost all post-timeskip content being ignored in merch and discussions, but my worries were quickly erased!

HNK2 is a great continuation and conclusion for the series (at least for the anime). If you liked HNK you'll likely enjoy your time with HNK2. Although I preferred the 2nd arc over the 1st one, I still thoroughly enjoyed both due to the fun new characters and further development of the lore. The action is just as great as ever and the music continues to ...

Hokuto no Ken (Anime) add
Before watching this series, I only knew Hokuto no Ken (HNK) because of the iconic "you're already dead" scene as well as it inspiring some aspects of the Yakuza series. I started watching this series on a random whim and I am thankful for doing so.

HNK felt like the anime equivalent of Yakuza: A series with a strong story and entertaining fights while still having comedy sprinkled throughout. It does a great job of starting off as a goofy, over-the-top action show and slowly transitions to a more plot heavy one that still recognizes to not take itself too seriously. That being said, there are ...

Having one of the highest highs as well as the lowest low in the animated series, Kaiji season 2 is a mixed bag. Similar to the first season, your mileage will vary depending on how invested you are in the game and the risks. This is especially true for this season as a certain game goes on for quite a long time compared to previous ones. The overall story, characters, and music are great and it is shown perfectly in the first arc, but again in regards to a certain game the pacing falls a bit flat. If you enjoy Kaiji give it a try ...

One Punch Man (Anime) add
Mixed Feelings
After seeing all the nods to One Punch Man in Mob Psycho 100 I decided to give the show a watch. Overall it is a mixed bag with some episodes hitting that perfect balance of action and comedy while others drag on and fall flat. Specifically, the first and last three episodes are great while the middle portion of the season can feel like a lukewarm slog. Additionally, if the one punch joke gets old for you it will stay old for the most part. Side characters are fun and interesting, but a majority of their combat lacks any tension due to Saitama existing. Also, ...
