The Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai on Stage: Shuchiin Ongakutan special event announced a third anime season and original video anime for Aka Akasaka's romantic comedy manga on Sunday. The original video anime is scheduled for a 2021 release. The event also unveiled an announcement promo.
Akasaka began the manga in Miracle Jump in May 2015 and switched it to Young Jump the following March. Shueisha published the 19th volume on July 17, with the 20th volume scheduled for a November 19 release. Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai has a cumulative 13 million copies of its compiled volumes in circulation.
The first season aired in Winter 2019, roughly covering the first five volumes. Aniplex of America licensed the anime and simulcast it on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu. The company also released the show on home video on February 18. The second season premiered on April 11 and ended on June 27, adapting up to volume ten. Funimation exclusively simulcast the second season and subsequently began streaming an English dub.
VIZ Media licensed the manga in English under its Shonen Jump imprint in February 2018 and published the 16th volume on September 1. The 17th volume is scheduled to go on sale on November 3.
A live-action film adaptation opened in Japan last September, grossing over 2.24 billion yen (approximately US$21.4 million). Shou Hirano (Ninjani Sanjo! Mirai e no Tatakai) and Kanna Hashimoto (Gintama) starred in the film as Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya, respectively.
Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetaiplaced first in the Comics division at the 3rd Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho in August 2017—a joint award by Kadokawa's Da Vinci literature magazine and streaming platform Niconico. The manga also won the 65th Shogakukan Manga Award in the general category alongside Ao Ashi.

Fantastic news!, twice in a row now that a sequel tv season has been announced on the consequent live events and my only prayer is for not to stop anytime soon.
I bloody love this season and quite obviously as a result ecstatic at the moment! A-1 Pictures have done God's work so far and I hope the team will come back once again to deliver!
I was kinda expecting that, the manga is very popular and the first 2 seasons were highly acclaimed, congrats to the fans, I too will be watching it, I got used to for some reason
LET'S FUCKING GO!!! For manga readers, we all want to hope that A-1 can adapt THAT chapter in the manga. Ladies and gentlemen, bring the hype and hope that this season is as great as the whole series. 2021 is going to be a great year for anime fans.
Im really not surprised, but man, I'm so glad one of my all time favorite shows is getting another season, it just fills me with joy! I just can't wait for this, bring it on!!
Fantastic and inevitable news. As fantastic as season 2 already was, this will be even better.
I'd expect it to adapt up to the end of volume 13, as 14 would suck as an ending point but going through to 15 (the best volume in the series imo) would be way too much for another one-cour (presumably) season.
We knew this was happening, more than deserved.
Total faith on the studios at this point, we will see an adaptation of chapters 130's boys, the best is yet to come!
I am waaaaaaay to EXCITEDDD. Cant wait Whole next arc adapted. If they can keep the pace from previous season, this will be epic and simply Masterpiece

No Game No Life - They can't decide change or keep studio and director.
Houseki no Kuni - Just lacks of manga volumes.
Yagate Kimi ni Naru - Manga was already finished a year ago so it's difficult to adapt second season. Plus, discs sale and streaming popular wa so-so because Shoujo Ai for mature audience.
NivrI said: Hell yeah! can’t wait for the best arc to be adapted
Is the next arc going to be episodic just like S1 and S2 ??
Ummm...can I ask what does “episodic” mean?
Episodic basically means that each episode is kinda stand-alone and doesn't really connect to the previous episodes. It's like each episode has a self-contained story which starts and ends in that particular episodes and in rare cases, 2-3 eps at max
@S-quare22 also, if you had noticed, S2 was much more linear and less episodic compared to S1 and this trend is followed in the manga. You'll be finding that the "arc structure" becomes more prominent than the "episodic structure" as the series progresses

With all these numbers for sales and live action performance, this manga has a real shot to be adapted in its entirely, even if it takes 10 seasons. It's like printing money for the producers at this point.
Hype is so real and I can't wait to see this third season. This series has become one of my all time favorites shows in the last few years. 2021 is looking to become an amazing year for Anime.
Now the question is, do I start reading the Manga or should I keep going in blind like I am used to from the first two seasons!
